I’m a code not a “words” guy, so I’ll let Claudia’s SyntaxCon write-up tell my story..

Lance Cleveland is a bright, multifaceted gentleman with a lifelong interest in technology. He is a self-described code geek-cum-serial entrepreneur of businesses based on his coding expertise. He is a man who has successfully straddled the technology and business worlds, with the result that he is fluent in both tech-speak and c-suite business – an invaluable translation skill.

Although Lance currently resides in the Lowcountry, he is an alumnus of Westford Academy, and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell where he earned a degree in Computer Science/Applied Mathematics. After college, Lance began an illustrious career working as a computer technician, engineer, and consultant, all before branching out on his own to establish ProActive Web Marketing, the first in a series of sucessful entrepreneurial ventures. Along the way, Lance acquired insight and expertise in performance advertising, internet retail and cybercrime. Lance’s current venture is expanding the reach of his Store Locator Plus software (accessible for WordPress as a plugin, or as a platform-agnostic SaaS offering).

Lance indicates that while his ‘… passion is coding and all things related to it’ he does carve out time to ‘pursue life’. He enjoys traveling, spending time with his son, playing beach volley ball and ‘learning things’. He admits to finding joy in passing on what he’s learnt, and can often be found conducting private coaching sessions, and speaking at user groups, and conferences in the Charleston area. Ironically, Lance openly admits to a fear of public speaking, but indicates that his commitment to sharing knowledge helps to override that fear. In addition, Lance consciously facilitates learning by giving to charities and/sponsoring events.

Make no mistake, consummate business man that he is, Lance still makes the time to be socially responsible. For several years, Lance has functioned as both advisor and coach at several startup training and coaching ventures, providing training and helping small businesses fine tune funding request presentations. In Charleston proper, he is organizer and advisor to the Charleston Beach Volleyball & Social Club, where he assists with technology needs, team management and execution of Club social events.
