who the hell is shacoca?
I’m Shawn Corey Campbell.
I survived three decades of long, dark cold winters in my hometown of Anchorage, Alaska, before moving to Washington, D.C., to work for NPR as a recording technician. The move forced me to admit that my broadcasting hobby had metastasized into a career. Another cross-continent move dropped me in LA nearly 18 years ago.
But then, corporate belt-tightening cast me to the wind. It was time to move on…and corrupt my next hobby. I’ve been recording music since I was a kid. I have performed, with bands and solo. But I prefer firing up Ableton Live, blasting off to new planets and stumbling onto new landscapes. I bring along a small kit of provisions: a garage rock heart, a fondness for jazz and show tunes, and hazy childhood memories scored with bad 70s pop.
