I was born in 1974 into a family of “musicians”. In 1981, the “verdict” pronounced my father, George Stefanet, educator by vocation, Head of Department “folk instruments” at the College of Music in Balti, Moldova, I was destined profession of musician. Seriously I begin to study violin, joining the first pages of my musical biography. In 1989 he began his studies at the College of Music Balti violin class. Since II, sing the folk music orchestra “Fiddlers” in Chisinau, which take a series of performances and musical recordings. Participate in recording later the album musically, the great master of Romanian music, panpipe player Gheorghe Zamfir, who, although living in exile, did not forget the Romanians in Bessarabia postwar and that was one of the two Romanian artists who gave performances at Chisinau for the first time in the symbolic year 1989 (the other was artist Sofia Vicoveanca). In 1992 I graduated from College of Music Balti and the same year I enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Chisinau, Department of “Violin and orchestra conductor.” In parallel with university courses, I worked as a violinist with various professional orchestras. In 1994 I became a laureate of the contest “Barbu Lăutaru” when all I was invited to sing in the orchestra of the State Chancellery “Bessarabia.” In 1996 I participated in folklore festivals in Belgium, Spain, France and Finland. In the same year, I was lucky enough to attend the launch Folk-Jazz Trio album “Mirage”, which was released in 1997. At that time I wrote six traditional Romanian creations, which later we framed the album “Marcel and Edgar Stefanet” appeared in 1999. Since 2000 I started working on the project “Transbalkanica” and after working for 5 years, we have achieved a 14 piese.Dupa album release, we had many concerts both in Republic of Moldova and in Romania, Russia. 2006 has been victorious for “Transbalkanica”. In February we became winners of the competition organized by the American magazine Global Rhythm song “Transbalkanica” was present on the compilation of the same name which was published in February 2006 with the first statement on “single”. Edited in a circulation of 120,000 copies and is distributed in the United States of America. Global Rhythm magazine seeks to promote foreign artists with great potential, in the most popular radio specialist. Among the projects of its kind promoted by Global Rhythm, Thievery Corporation and are Shukar Collective. Then I was selected a finalist International Music Competition in Los Angeles. There were more than 15,000 contestants – all of these are in 14th place in the World Music category. And the greatest victory of the “Transbalkanica” – is receiving the Grand Prize in the International Music Competition “John Lennon”. The album had over 500,000 contestants. John Lennon Contest is an international competition of music, founded in 1997. Tens of thousands of composers from around the world participate annually in this contest. Competitors are divided into 12 categories – the style of music – Pop, Rock, HipHop … we competed at the World Music category … that is the most difficult category because it has the most competitors. Not a music style typical of a region or category “World music” (international music) is open to the world. Do you realize how many talented competitors have tried to back my album title. This victory is even more precious to me because personalities who decided to award the album Transbalkanica Grand Prix include artists from the music world contemporary American and international (Robin Gibb, Al Jarreau, for example) and representatives of major companies music (such as Sony, EMI, Columbia, etc.). But there is also a competition based on citizens voted in Superfine (a kind of jury popularity, like American Idol) of the holder of the Grand Prix stage – (ie Transbalkanica) and holder penultimate Grand Prix.
Besides project Transbalkanica, I realized with my brothers many albums of folk music with singers well known in Moldova and Romania as well: Luminita horse, Igor Rusu, Vadim Gheorghilas, Andra (Romania) Paula Pasca (Romania), Nicholas and Isidor Glib, Geta Burlacu Natalia Proca, Lilia Rosca, sisters Elena and Viorica Lupu Sorin Filip (Romania), George Cojocarescu (Romania), Ana-Maria Stoian (Romania), Mihai Grosu. Besides folk music, I realized several projects in the local music with performers Estrada and Valentin Boghean Natalia Barbu. In 2012 I was awarded the state merit “Honored Artist” for outstanding success of my project “Transbalkanica” which gave me even more incentive to create and realize new projects parts and to rejoice
