The blocks (including the Big Slider) didn’t worked well on the previous version of the theme(v.4) on the default template. This happens because some(Big Slider and Grid) work only on 3/3 (full row). The default template was intended for custom pages which don’t use our blocks.

The main page can be configured manually from Visual Composer and the sidebar can be easily added using the Widgetised Sidebar block, ex. – http://screencast.com/t/H5gGHY5i

We changed the behavior of the default template to avoid the situations where people were trying to use the Big Slider on it and it was broken.

The code provided (the one on line 45) makes it behave like the one from version 4.

But the ‘Big Grid 4’ doesn’t seem to display properly – the three smaller images wrap around the bottom of the main image.

If you take out the code on line 45, then the ‘Big Grid 4’ works, but the right-hand side sidebar doesn’t (it appears under the other blocks on the left).

Other issues:

1. How do you change the colour of the mobile menu bar in Newspaper 6? It’s black and my transparent logo needs a white menu bar on mobile to show (or other light colour).

2. The colour of the side bar headers isn’t linked to the main theme colour like in previous Newspaper versions. They appear as a standard black. There is no option in the theme panel to change colours on the theme panel.

3. On mobiles the theme seems to present itself too far left (it cuts half of the first letter on headlines off). Is there an easy fix to move the responsive theme right a little bit?

4. The background default image doesn’t seem to work on Woocommerce – it doesn’t stretch and it appears in two parts behind the page.

@If you take out the code on line 45 – please provide an image, not sure what you mean with the sidebar. It’s not possible to use the Big Grid or Big Slider on 2 columns, they require a full row.

The theme uses the ad_image_size() function to create the thumbnails used on posts and pages – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/add_image_size

The thumbs are used to speed up the page load speed, large images will slow it down.

Due to aspect ratio differences a part of the image is cut. You can read more about it here – http://forum.tagdiv.com/image-size/

A solution may be to adjust the size of the thumbs to match the aspect ratio of you images, the thumbs are registered in td_config.php – http://screencast.com/t/pwBwiJlvMlz

After you modify one you have to regenerate the thumbs – http://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-fix-strange-thumbnails/

Some blocks/modules may also require css adjustments to properly display the new thumb size.

First rule of WP test the plugins – looks like it may have been a plugin. Thank you. Very happy it appears solved. If still slightly slow, but that is WordPress, not your fault.

Another “problem”, on my site, when you hover over a post title on the home page, it fafes to white – making it disappear – this is a bad thing for me. I have inspected elements and cannot seem to find the right style change to change this? I just want to change the hover color to red, can you give me the custom css to change this?

When we had lunched the Newsmag theme we have developed new features, now on this big update of the Newspaper 6 we moved almost all features from Newsmag, plus some new features(we had to bring and develop new features not only the available features on Newsmag), this is how the process work. Is not possible to create a feature and instantly bring it in all themes.

If we compare the themes as functionality/features of course we want both to have the same features, but this can’t be at the same time.

The main difference that we want to be between the themes is the design and look, we want to offer diversity, each client should chose the one which looks best for them. The choice depends on what each one prefers.
