Hello, I help design www.bourbonandbroadleaf.com. I am looking to update the theme to 15Zine without losing ratings – the current theme is Marroco. Please let me know if this will be possible. Thank you!
Hi Kqn,
Thanks for checking out 15Zine and for considering it for your site.
I had a look and I think your site would look amazing with 15Zine as you have nice graphics already (logo, images, etc). But i’m afraid moving to any new theme will be a bit complicated for you with regards to the reviews. As WordPress doesn’t have a review system, theme authors have to create one from scratch, and of course that means that every review system is coded differently and works differently, so when you move to a new theme, all your existing reviews (and the review system) will not be visible in your new theme. The only way to transfer reviews from one theme to another is to copy/paste the contents over to the new review system.
It sucks but there isn’t much theme authors can do about this! The best I could do was ensure the reviews are compatible within my themes, so for example if you created a site with my Valenti theme and added reviews, and then installed 15Zine, the reviews would still output in it.
Hope this makes sense.

Thanks Cubell – the site really would look amazing with your theme. The rating issue is very important for our website and we can’t lose it. I wonder if there is a program to help transfer them. I will look into it. Thanks for the reply!
You’re welcome!
I’m afraid to say that you won’t find any easy way to transfer your ratings over to a new reviews system, as your current theme’s system will be different to everyone else’s.
And it’s not just reviews, it’s shortcodes too. If your current theme makes you use lots of shortcodes inside posts, the same will happen. The moment you switch to any new theme, your shortcodes will stop working and simply appear as the raw shortcode: [shortcode]something something[/shortcode]. This is why I discourage users using shortcodes and only include the ones users expect (demand) from a theme.

Though i love the theme, one thing that is very concerning is we have seen our revenue drop about 15% since moving to 15zine. The only thing i can think of that is different is the content area is a lot wider than our last theme. In fact if you look at NYTimes, Financial Post, Globe and Mail all have much narrower area for content. In the last them there was a slider that could control the with of the content area which we set to 600px. Is there anyway to control the width area of the content.
Hi again,
If you share the URL of an example post that you want to make narrower, I can take a look and see if I can share some css for that.
Cubell
Here are a few very popular sites that have a much narrower space for content. Most are under 600px . The last theme we used by Voice by Meks. With that theme you could adjust the theme from 600 to full width.
NY Times: 527px http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/20/world/europe/vladimir-putin-russian-economy.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=first-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=0 Huffington Post: 566 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/18/jcrew-alejandro-rhett_n_7616014.html?ir=Business NewYorker: 634px http://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/charleston-and-the-age-of-obama Financial Post: 610 http://business.financialpost.com/personal-finance/young-money/eternal-truth-of-personal-finance-no-4-dont-be-a-renter?__lsa=45fd-45a0 Globe and Mail: 505 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/russia-says-it-is-willing-to-help-as-greeces-tsipras-pleads-for-eu-leniency/article25034465/David
Hey David,
I meant share a relevant URL of your own site that you want to make narrower

Good afternoon. I purchased this template, set and tune… But faced with the problem of localization. The template repository not contains .mo & .po files. So I can not understand how I can translate such things as ” search”, “Leave a reply”? “comments” and much more. Thank you in advance for your reply.
Sorry, for question. Now I found them. First time work with Wordpress. Good luck.)
Hi Zara_Thustra,
Thanks for choosing 15Zine, I hope you enjoy using it and WordPress
And I’m happy you figured it out, but just for future reference, there is a section about how to translate the theme into any language in the documentation that comes with the theme and it has all the steps to do it

Hi I opened a ticket and have no answer yet.
Hi Neoflytox,
Thank you for choosing 15Zine. I only got back from holidays 1 day and a half ago, and as you would expect there is a big number of tickets open over my holidays, so even though I am working really long hours to answer them all, it naturally takes a bit longer than usual. So all I ask you is to please be patient, as you will get an answer as soon as it is possible

woo hoo, this is the theme I had in my head for my personal site and you made it, high five!
I have a presale question: Is there a way to have fullscreen content not go all the way to the top of the browser but stop at the bottom of the navigation.?
EXAMPLES: – http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/music/rock/gallery-post/ – http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/design/parallax-story-post/ – http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/videogames/nintendo-wii/video-format-a/
I request this because i don’t like the navigation block over the images. Which brings me to my second question: Do you plan on have an transparent background navigation option soon? If you did this, it would eliminate the need for the first request.
EXAMPLE:
I look forward to your response.
Thanks!
Also, can full-width be set to different widths per page? For example, could full-width be set to 1200px on one page and 100% (browser border) on another page?
Hi Najaboi,
Thanks very much for the interest and kind words about 15Zine
1- You could add some custom CSS to make the navigation menu transparent. However, I’d probably recommend making the backgrounds semi-transparent. I tested it and it looks a lot nicer than pure transparency.
2- I’m afraid not, the theme has a global site width setting (1200 or 1020px wide option), and then inside each post/page you can set it to be full-width (so will be 1200 or 1020px wide depending on your site width) or be centered like in the http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/design/parallax-story-post/ post
Hope this helps
Cubell
thanks for the reply.
Is there a way to have fullscreen content not go all the way to the top of the browser but stop at the bottom of the navigation? (so the background content isn’t covered up behind the header)
No problemo, happy to help
I’m not 100% what you mean by that question, because if you want to see the background content, surely you would just leave the boxed option for the header so that it doesn’t cover the background? How can you have a full-screen option but also not be visible?

Hey there, Cubell,
I’m back with another question and as always, counting on your great support.
Is there any way to make the WooCommerce checkout page to look better? I know you added stylization for it, but I’m seeing a lot of misaligned text and boxes: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zdiqezo9feojzss/Screenshot%202015-06-17%2018.52.41.png?dl=0
Any chance you could work on that?
Hey Roman,
All the text inside the boxes are placeholders WooCommerce outputs, so it isn’t 100% straightforward to style them (browsers have their own styling for placeholders), but I will certainly take a look at it and see what is going on and try to improve it in an upcoming update.
Cubell
Thank you, Cubell.
No problem, Roman
Hi Cubell,
Great job on the template! I am loving it so far.
I just have a question for you. I am trying to build a how to page with an effect similar to this theme: http://themetrust.com/demos/port/?ref=1395
What do you suggest that would be the best way to build something similar within the 15zine ecosystem?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Nathanstevenson,
Thanks for choosing 15Zine, I love that you’re loving it
To build a page like that you’d most likely need to use a plugin such as Visual Composer, as that is a corporate type homepage layout and 15Zine out of the box is a magazine theme focusing on actual content (posts).
Hope this helps.
Cubell
When making a new page, I add the background picture which is the same throughout the site and it wont’ stretch and fit like the others, it’s not static, any thoughts?
This isn’t an issue on the category pages, it automatically picked up the background from the index page.
Hey again,
I’m not 100% sure what you mean by that, could you please open a ticket at http://support.cubellthemes.com and include the relevant URLs to take a look? I can try to help as soon as I can see what is going on
Cubell
First of all, LOVE the theme! Is there a way to edit the navigation bar so the text is smaller, fitting more menu items? I have one that wraps in a second line below.
Hi Yegmusicmagazine,
Thanks for choosing 15Zine, I love that you love it
Sure thing, perhaps you can try decresing the letter-spacing first though, copy/paste the following code into your Theme Options -> Custom Code -> Custom CSS box:
#cb-nav-bar { letter-spacing: 2px; }
And decrease the letter-spacing to 1px or 0, then if that isn’t enough, reduce the font size by using this :
#cb-nav-bar { font-size: 16px; }
Hope this helps.

Hi Cubell!
I found a problem with the mobile menu/css. Or maybe it’s caching. On Safari, iOS 8 the menu on the posts is loading very late. covering the content. After 5-8 seconds it’s moving to the right place.
Strange thing is that this doesn’t happen on the homepage? Also, when using Chrome it isn’t a problem either.
Could you help me on this one?
Kind regards,
Hi Krapau,
Thanks for choosing 15Zine, I hope you’re enjoying using it!
That does sound really strange, but did you test it on the theme’s demo site to see if it happens there too? If it doesn’t, it would definitely be something in your setup, and could well be something to do with the caching (if you are minifying files). Let me know.

Hi Cubell, my company just purchase 15zine theme and we’re about to launch our site. I want to ask on the UI side if there’s anyway that we can replace one of the tiled post to an Ad instead so if like i have a square tiled display of 6 post I replace one of the display with a DoubleClick ad?
Hi Rowelbughao,
Thanks for choosing 15Zine. I’m afraid that isn’t possible though, and would definitely require deep customization to the theme code, so you would need to hire a developer to help you out with it, and I’d recommend looking for one on http://studio.envato.com which is run by the same people who run Themeforest.
Cubell
Hi Cubell,
Thanks for all your support! I have a formatting issue with posts. Please see this image: http://i.imgur.com/BB3x4in.jpg
Is there any way to reduce those spaces? The blank area looks bad.
Thank you!
EDIT: here is a link to the web page itself: http://goo.gl/GPjd4x
Hey Naheller,
It’s no problem, you know I’m happy to help
Sure thing, copy/paste the following code into your Theme Options -> Custom Code -> Custom CSS box:
.cb-entry-header .cb-byline { margin-bottom: 0; }
.cb-entry-header .cb-post-meta { margin-top: 0; }
Should do the trick.

Hola!!
Saludos
On the main menu, I would like to change the color when you hoover over the items(WORDS) on the drop down menu from the off white to a blue. Can you tell me the coding to do this? Thanks in advance!
Hi MarketingGal,
Thanks for choosing 15Zine, hope you’re enjoying it
Sure thing, copy/paste the following code into your Theme Options -> Custom Code -> Custom CSS box:
.cb-mm-on #cb-nav-bar .cb-main-nav > li:hover > a { color: #fff; }
And change the #fff value to your blue color value.
Hope this helps.

I put it in but when I mouse over it is still white
Open a ticket in the support site with your URL to see why that didn’t work
Hi, I want to add the Adsense banner code in header 728×90. Somehow it doesn’t show any advertisements. Normal banners do work. What could be the problem?
Hi OnlineExposure,
Thanks for choosing 15Zine, I hope you enjoy using it.
Do you have AdBlocker or similar extension installed on your browser that could be blocking it? If that isn’t it, share your URL and I can take a look.
Cubell
This is a wonderful theme … we have had some performance issues with it though. We used it for a huge site, and used caching and all kinds of techniques, but it seemed there was a lag at times. So I did query analysis and took a look at the code. I couldn’t find anything major but after turning off the “trending” feature in the menu, the speed went back up dramatically.
My understanding is that uses JetPack data, correct? I am just curious what could be causing issues with that. Have you got any ideas? Is there a way to maybe just show random posts instead of trending posts in the menu?
Hi Panah100,
Thanks again for choosing 15Zine
When you say the speed went back up dramatically, what exactly are you referring to? Loading speed? If so, can you share your URL and turn the Trending menu back on and I can take a look, perhaps one of the posts appearing in the trending menu has a featured image that isn’t optimized and really big or similar.
Cubell
Hi Cubell,
I can’t say how impressed I am with the theme. In the past few days, I have been doing more code analysis. It had something to do with memory usage. Using Query Monitor plugin, when trending feature is active, the memory usage is well over 100 MB, sometimes over 200 close to our max php memory of 256 mb. When we turned the trending feature at the top off, the memory usage went back to average 15 mb.
I turned the feature off and the theme is performing beautifully. We have a dedicated server with 12 cores and 24 GB ram. The images are well optimized with Kraken IO and regenerate thumbnail. We have also customized the directory structure for Linux optimization and low IO performance.
I will go through the queries again to see if I can figure something out. At this point, it’s just my curiosity. The theme works perfect without the trending feature, and I am too happy with it to bother changing anything.
Hey again,
That’s really interesting, thanks for analysing it that way. Very odd though, I can’t imagine how the trending menu would be able to do that, as in its most basic form, it is simply a cached query to get posts from JetPack’s Stats. And it loads the week/month trending ones on demand via Ajax so on a normal load, it’s a single query. Can you give me more info on your site to try to do some research? Such as how many posts/pages have you got on your site?
Cubell
Absolutely .. about 6000 posts and 150 MB MySQL database, which I keep optimizing for better performance.
Remember I mentioned in another comment that I had problem with your Popular Posts widget? That was also memory related. It was going over 256 MB and giving white screen of death. So nothing wrong with your theme but memory issue that goes away when I disable Popular Posts / Trending feature. Probably has something to do with JetPack. I don’t know what.
Now I don’t want to give anyone reading this the impression that something is wrong with your theme
I think it’s perfect. It could very well be my setup, Nginx issues, ... I can discuss this privately if you like.
I see! That is interesting, and yeah open a ticket at http://support.cubellthemes.com with the URL + any relevant info and we can take it from there
Is there a way to use the title of a post for the alt tag of the features image? Doing so will help with our SEO efforts
Hey again,
Hope you’re well!
I’m afraid though that that is really specific and definitely requires editing/customizing the code of the theme, and you would need to hire a developer to help you out with it, and I’d recommend looking for one on http://studio.envato.com which is run by the same people who run Themeforest.
Cubell
Hi is this theme integrated with buddypress? if yes. can you do something diferent for example members pages as http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/the-team-template/ and single user page as http://15zine.cubellthemes.com/author/sienna/ thanks
Hi Josemanuel,
Apologies for the delayed response – due to summer holidays there was no support over the last week and a bit.
In v1.3, I added BuddyPress compatibility and integration into the theme, but v1.3 come out shortly before my summer break, so I was unable to install BuddyPress and set it up in the demo before going on holiday. I am going to install it and set it up this week though
But those two links you shared are actually not BuddyPress pages or connected to BuddyPress in any way. The first one is a page template where the admin of the site can set who appears there and who doesn’t. And the author page is a WordPress automatically-created page for any author on the site, you can’t change it/delete it (it’s the way WordPress works).
In BuddyPress, everyone would have their own profiles and member URL, that would usually be something like http://site-name.com/members/sienna
Hope this makes sense and helps.
Cubell
Hi Cubell,
Absolutely love your theme!!! I made the theme switch and I am so happy with the way my site looks now! Just three questions:
1) After turning off the social share options in the backoffice, the text “Share on” is still visible on the post—> see: http://www.orinocoblue.com/my-7-most-memorable-hotel-stays-around-the-world/
2) Is it possible to set the images (for example the featured images) brighter? Now it automatically makes them a bit darker than they were originally.
3) After switching themes a palceholder image showed up on some pages (for example http://www.orinocoblue.com/about/). I don’t know how this happened, there were no pictures here before. I can’t seem to delete this placeholder image in the page editor (doesn’t show up in the code either). How could I delete these placeholders?
Thanks for your help!
ORINOCO BLUE
Okay, just discovered how to fix number 1, so nevermind
!
And I also figured out how to solve number 3, yay!
Hi Orinoco Blue,
I love that you love the theme, thanks for choosing it
Apologies for the delayed response – due to summer holidays there was no support over the last week and a bit.
Happy you got 1 and 3 sorted
.cb-grid-x .cb-grid-img img { opacity: 1; }
I hope this helps!
Cubell
P.s That CSS is for the grid images, if you meant the big featured images you can use this:
.cb-fis-b-full-background .backstretch img, .cb-fis-b-background-slideshow .backstretch img { opacity: 1; }
Cubell
Hi Cubell,
Thanks for your reply!
No worries for the delayed response, I saw that your were on holiday

You’re welcome and thanks again
Can you please tell me how can we add custom title font? or how can we change it ?
