I need assistance in setting up the home page. Where do you upload the page to the main hero section on the home page for engeneo. ive got the visual builder.
I don’t understand what you mean. Can you post a link to the demo page you are trying to recreate and the page on your site?
If you are asking where do you upload the hero background image then on the page’s edit screen you scroll down to the “Header Options” metabox and select “Image/Video” or “Slider” from the Header Type option. The relevant options will then be displayed below.
What could be reson that when i change settings for navigation text for example, nothing changes on frontend. For example i set colour for navigation text and icon on: #b7b7b7 . But on frontend it’s still white. Also when i change navigation bar width, nothing changes. What could be reason?
If you have set the page to have a transparent navigation bar the theme will use the navigation text set on the page’s edit screen.
This is also try for archive pages, 404 page and the search results page when the navigation bar is set to transparent in the theme options the theme will use the transparent navigation text colour for those specific pages.
The navigation width option effects the text inside the navigation bar but not the bar itself.
I do leave it blank and save but when I go back and look at it the client name reappears. Even when I delete the the custom field it reappears. Can you help me? Thanks.
Looks like it cured itself somehow. Is there a trick to caching and working so that the changes take?
Nope. Just remove the text from the option’s text field and click the save button. If you do it by deleting the custom field value instead the option will be resaved because the text is still in the option’s text field.
I tried to delete a custom field (experience_portfolio_item_client) on my portfolio page but it keeps reappearing after I delete and save it. I actually would like to delete the tags too. How can I do this?

If you leave the client field blank it should be removed. The only way to prevent the portfolio tags from displaying is to not set any. I’ll look at adding a toggle to disable them.
That demos content is in the theme package. It’s the experience-minimalist-portfolio.xml.

The theme does not include any of the images used in the demos.
I put an image in my portfolio page that is 600×250 pixels but for some reason it’s being stretched when I preview it. It looks the right size within the wordpress editor. Do you have any idea whats going on?
Where are you using the image. Post a link to the page on your site so I can take a look.
The image is being stretched to fill the content area width. To prevent this remove the either the size-full or aligncenter parameter/class from the image.

Thought I had a solution but it didn’t work. So now that the class “center” is removed, how do i center images? I appreciate the help.
For the images to be centered put back the aligncenter class and remove the size-full class instead. I’m going to have to find another way to detect when an image is large enough to fit beyond the limits of the page content.
I figured it out. I wrapped the images in a
tag and put the “align center” class back in. It worked! However, I have never had this problem before. Can you let me know if you fix this. I appreciate your help. Great theme.
It’s not a bug exactly. The theme uses the .size-full.aligncenter selector to style images so that they extend beyond the content width. The assumption is that if the image has the size-full class it’s a large image that at it’s full dimensions would be wider than the content area. But as you have found out that isn’t always the case so I’ll have to look for an alternative.
How do you change color of the blinking arrow on homepage?
That is the “Scroll Button” setting in each of the colour schemes. The description for that option is wrong. I’ll go through all those descriptions and make them clearer.
How do I change the color of the logo text and hamburger icon on the top of the page?
In the theme options under the Style > Navigation section. If you enable the transparent header on a particular page you can also set a different text colour for the logo text and header icons.

The “Dummy content” has helped me do absolutely nothing. Pretty upset with this purchase to be honest.
What can I help you with?
The dummy content is the exact page structure from the demos excluding the background images. The pages are constructed the same way as any other site using Visual Composer: add a row, set the number of columns, add elements to the columns.
The colour schemes used in the demos are all included in the theme options as presets under the “Style” tab. Simply click on the one you want. The options will be updated and the colour scheme CSS will be generated.
As with any WordPress theme you’ll want to set the home page on the Settings > Reading screen and set your navigation menu on the Appearance > Menus screen (the menus from the demo are already created for you but must be added to the “Primary Navigation” theme location.
I get that, and maybe I’m doing something wrong (totally possible) but I can’t get anything to actually APPEAR, despite me setting all that correctly.

You might need to update visual composer. There is an error being output which is preventing the page from being rendered. It’s an error from a theme file but its a visual composer function that can’t be found. From what I can see you have version 4.8 of visual composer installed so try updating to the latest version of the plugin.
I’ve double checked and updating to version 4.9.x of Visual Composer will fix this error.

You’ve added the background image three times: on the text box element, on the column and on the row. You only need the background image on the row so you can remove it from the text box element and the column.

Hey buddy! The only issue I’m having now is I can’t get the blog to update no matter what I do! I’ve tried uploading header images in multiple locations and can’t get it to work!
The blog header is set in the theme options. Go to the Theme Options page and click on Blog in the sidebar and then you’ll see the Post Archives section.
The reason the options are in the theme options rather than on the page edit screen is because the “blog page” isn’t always an actual page that has been created by the user.
Gotcha! And our “Gallery” is pixelating the photos while they are in the thumbnail, but not in lightbox. Any idea?

In Firefox (Mac) I click on the social share icon in the header of the demo, it brings up an empty red overlay with no share icons.
Does this happen on the theme demo, on your own site or both?

It’s working in Safari, but not Firefox.
I’m looking into it at the moment. There’s a bug in Firefox that’s causing the navigation to be sized incorrectly.

Can you post a link to your site so I can see exactly what’s going on?
There instructions explaining how to install the theme but it’s the same as with any other WordPress theme.
- Upload and activate the theme.
- Click on the recommended plugins notice or go to Appearance > Install Plugins to install and activate the recommended plugins.
- Import one of the demo content xml files.
- Set your home page.
- Configure the theme options.
Try installing the Redux Framework plugin via the normal Plugins screen in your site’s admin dashboard.
- Go to Plugins > Add New
- Search for Redux Framework
- Click the Install button.
- Go to the plugins list and activate the plugin.
Also one or more of the plugins you have installed on your site or an error in a customized file is causing your site layout to break. You should check to see what is causing that problem.
You created an awesome theme! I just purchased it last night and this morning saw that you made an update. How do I go about updating the theme. Do I just reinstall it? And by doing that will it affect my site that’s using the theme correctly? I just want to know how to update the theme without it doing anything to the site. Thanks.
To update the theme you simply delete the existing version of the theme and reinstall the new version. Your site content and theme options will be untouched. However, unless you are using a child theme, you will need to go back to the theme options and click “save” to regenerate the dynamic CSS file.
If the CSS looks like it hasn’t been created:- Change any one of the settings in the theme options.
- Click save.
- Change the setting back.
- Click save again.
Hi, i’m having issuses with slider on experience theme. If i select video as a slide, wideo eil ‘lag’/’break’ after every few seconds (after 4 – 5s) . What can i do for video to play smoothly? Server hosting is not an issue – 100/100MB optic VPS.
Provide a link so I can see the page. The background videos are from YouTube so there shouldn’t be an issue with playback. That suggests it’s a browser performance issue and there isn’t much that can be done about that other than removing the slider animations.

Problem was that video was in the slide and there was only one slide so i assume every time that video breaked, the slide was going for transition. I selected header type as video and now it works perfectly.

I’ve checked the page in Chrome, FireFox and Edge and the video is playing perfectly so my best guess is that it’s a computer performance issue.
The theme uses Visual Composer to add all background videos including header and slider backgrounds so the code is exactly the same. By default Visual Composer only allows YouTube videos as backgrounds but a previous buyer said they found an extension for Visual Composer that does allow self hosted background videos.
Thank you for your reply. I thinkmy issue was somehow related to the option i chose (slider for header). I assume if slider is selected then transition is automatic after few seconds. Anyhow when i selected only vdeo – now it work like a charm.

That’s correct. The slider will transition to the next slide by fading out after the set amount of time. The auto slide can be changed or disabled using the slider’s settings. Viewing your page I can see there is a small bug with the positioning of the language selector. I will get that fixed in the next update.
Very nice! Is the main theme setup also an option for the dummy content? I like the layout of that one more than the selected others for a website that I have in mind.
An xml file for the main demo is included as well as the colour scheme as a preset. Please note that none of the images or videos from any of the demo sites are included in the demo content xmls.
There is currently a small bug that means the Experience Visual Composer Extension is not listed in the recommend plugins list. I have fixed the bug but have not yet uploaded the new version so until version 1.0.2 of the theme the extension plugin must be manually installed. You will find it in the inc/plugins/ directory of the theme.

Hi VC doesn’t seem to detect Experience-based shortcodes. They appear as codes instead on the live pages.
Have you installed and activated the plugin? Go to Appearance > Install Plugins to check the status of the recommended plugins.
Yes it is installed and activated. Yes, all recommended plugins are installed. This is a fresh install of WP btw

All sorted. For some reason the Experience Visual Composer Extension wasn’t installed by the plugin activation script so I installed and activated it for you. I’ll double check the script to see if it was an error on my part.
EDIT: A line of code was missing from the plugin activation script so the prompt to install and activate the Experience Visual Composer Extension plugin was not being displayed.
