Hi Erik. I don’t know if this is a problem but if you go to my website (dearfairytale.com), on the shop your ebook menu, you will see an ‘archives’ at the top. How can I remove it? This page supposed to be ‘shop’, not archive. Please help me. I had tried for weeks but still didn’t manage to remove it. Thanks.
Hello, thanks for your purchase!
Open up your template-tags.php file from the ../inc folder, and on line 201 replace this:
else : _e( 'Archives', 'flatbook' ); endif;
with this:
else : _e( 'Shop', 'flatbook' ); endif;
save it, and it should be changed on the front-end.
Let me know how this worked out. Cheers, Erik
It worked out. Thank you!
Great!
Cheers, Erik
How do I make the static header responsive? Or is there another tool I should be using in the theme for that result?
Hello, thanks for your purchase. As far as i know, It’s already responsive… Can you please tell me more details about this request? Cheers, Erik
I would like to send you a screen shot but when I view the static header on my iPhone it is not responsive. I have paid for support, is there a way to send you a screen shot or perhaps you could have a look at kidsontheball.wpengine.com and let me know what you suggest. We are ready to go live except for this issue. THANKS for a beautiful theme otherwise.
Sure, you can send the screenshot in email, i would be happy to help you with that. Cheers, Erik
There is no way to add an attachment to that email box…
I uploaded it to my dropbox and the link is here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/2lxo64oguqc40b4/Kids%20on%20the%20Ball%20iphone%20home.png?dl=0
.header-title .highlight { white-space: normal !important; }
header.static-header { padding: 150px 0 !important; }
Let me know how it turned out! Cheers, Erik
How do I get a background image on the home page static header?
Hi, thanks for your purchase. In your wordpress admin area, go to Appearance > Customize > Layout > Header and upload your background image to the Home Header background image, so it will be applied to your home page static header. Cheers, Erik
I can’t figure out how to make the Home Header – Background Image (Optional dimensions: 2000px x 900px) visible on the iPad. It’s visible on PC, but as soon as I open the site on the iPad the background image is gone. Since your demo shows a background image on the iPad I assume there must be setting for it.
EDIT: What I actually trying to do is having a background picture for the Slider. The Slider does not have a setting for it, that’s why I had to use the Home Header – Background Image setting.
Thanks.
Hello, thanks for your purchase.
Have you imported the demo content? If yes, does the default slider background image show up on tablet?
An idea: in your WordPress admin dashboard, head to Appearance > Customize and once the Theme Customizer is loaded, select Layout > Header and upload your desired slider background image.
Cheers, Erik
I just checked your demo with the iPad and it has the same problem, so I would assume, it’s an issue with the theme and not the setup: [link removed]
Right, than it’s a theme issue – going to be fixed in the next update. Currently i don’t have a tablet for testing purposes, and if i resize the browser window to tablet sizes, i still don’t see anything like the screenshot you sent.
@media (max-width: 992px) {
#site-header {
background-attachment: scroll !important;
}
}
I wasn’t able to test it, but hopefully it will solve the issue. Let me know how it turned out! Cheers, Erik
Thanks, but that change has no effect, the header background image is not showing on the Ipad. I tried the windows version of the webkit browser to see if I can reproduce the behaviour but had no luck, the image is just missing on the iPad.
Do you have any ETA on when you will have access to an iPad so can fix the themes iPad support? My client asks for it since everything is read to launch except for the iPad issue.
Can you tell me on which screen size (landscape or portrait) and on which webkit browser (chrome, safari, either) are you noticing this missing header background image issue when browsing the site with ipad?
I’m gonna push an update as soon as the solution is found. Cheers, Erik
The header image is missing on both portrait and landscape, tested that with an iPad Air 1 (Retina, 2048×1536) on your demo site using the default webbrowser (Mobile Safari).
#site-header { background-attachment: scroll !important; }
I just tested it with an ipad safari emulator, and it solved the missing issue. Any thoughts? Cheers, Erik
Thanks, that fixed the issue. Since I noticed that you just removed the media query compared to the first fix I retested the old fix and realized that that one already worked to some extent (only for portrait mode and not landscape).
Great than!
So just to confirm, is it ok now on either landscape and portrait views on your iPad? Cheers, Erik
Hi, thanks for a great theme. I have two questions.
1. On tablet (Safari iPad Pro) I’m not seeing the slider background image. I have it set at 2000×900 as stated in Customizer Home Header. I saw in comments from a year ago that image should be 2000×645 and then update style sheet with @media min width 1000 but it didn’t work. How do I get the background image to appear on tablet? ( I see a background on tablet on a few of the live sample sites).
2. Contact page- Map scrolls when trying to scroll down the page. Is there a way to lock map so it does not scroll when mouse over it or remove map or replace with static image?
My site is at 2016.powerwishing.com
Thanks again for your help.
Dan
Hello Dan, thanks for your purchase and kind words.
1.) Possible.. The mobile browser of Safari might be tricky sometimes, when it comes to render css3 elements. Try adding this snippet to your css:
@media (max-width: 768px) {
#site-header {
background-attachment: scroll !important;
}
}
This will disable the parallax scrolling effect on tablet and mobile size, but in the meantime, it will most likely force your header bg image to render on Safari either.
2.) Sure, referring to the article by Tom McFarlin, you need to open up your section-location.php file from the ../partials folder, and insert the following line after line 26:
scrollwheel: false,
Let me know if you need further assistance with these. Cheers, Erik
Hi, the google maps scroller false worked. Thanks. However, the background header image still does not show on iPad after I added the @media code to the style.css file via the editor. Is there anything else I need to do? I’m wondering how this site is able to show background on iPad http://www.iainrobwright.com? Thanks for your help.
Hi, are you sure that you have added the code to your css? I just checked your site, and it seems to be missing.. Please insert again, and get back to me with the result. Cheers, Erik
Hi, I just checked. I have it on the style.css file through the editor and I just dropped it under the customizer, custom css and it still does not show the image on iPad. Am I dropping it in the right place?
I’m afraid not..
Just send me your admin login credentials in email and i will insert it for you to the right place. Cheers, Erik
New problem: One of my pages WILL NOT LOAD from the Nav Bar!! It’s called “Events”
When I preview it, it shows up in both Firefox and IE but if I go to the Home page and click on it from the Nav Bar, it won’t load. I’ve checked 12 times that it’s published. Deleted it and re-added it to the Menu 5 times. The SUBMENU page of Calendar works but not Events. Help!! Here is the link to the site and if you click on the “Events” link at top, you’ll find it won’t load.
http://lauraboedges.aprilletrupiano.com/This site is still in development.
Actually it’s not a problem, but the default behavior of the dropdown menu link item you are using on your “Events” menu item.
Consider using another menu item type, or replace the “Events” link in the dropdown (above the “Calendar” link) and create a parent item with a usual name (what will not be clickable).
Cheers, Erik
Another question – I imported the Demo-1 content but cannot seem to get the stylized photo frames you’re using (the ones that look like quotation bubbles) to work with my photos inside them. Please advise exactly how to do that so I can adjust on my “messages” section for testimonials.
Right now, they’re coming up just squares.or rectangles
Thank you
Oh my gosh…forgot one thing: How do I get my fa-icons to match my theme in COLOR? I’ve customized the global colors in every way but the icons keep coming up in the original light teal blue that you have on your demo.
Please advise.
Thanks again
sorry – same thing is happening with the number stats that flip in – they are coming up light teal blue instead of my color scheme – is this in the wp CSS somewhere?
those would be the ‘counters’
How do I get my fa-icons to match my theme in COLOR? I’ve customized the global colors in every way but the icons keep coming up in the original light teal blue that you have on your demo.
You need to make a clipping mask of your desired image above the quote shaped layer in photoshop, than save it for web in png format with transparent background.
How do I get my fa-icons to match my theme in COLOR? I’ve customized the global colors in every way but the icons keep coming up in the original light teal blue that you have on your demo.
No worries, it’s a known theme bug in the current version – will be fixed in the next update. Until than, if you send me your site link with the desired color for the icons, i’ll give you the fixing css code to insert.
Please drop me an email with your site link and name the colors you’d like to have for these elements.
Cheers, Erik
Hi there. Trying to install the custom widgets as instructed in the documentation (from the demo-1 folder) and keep getting error message as follows: This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number
Please give a solution to this.
Thank you
Hello! Hmm, sounds weird.. Can you send me your wordpress admin login details to your site in email? I would check your backend and try to import the widgets for you. Cheers, Erik
I am having some issues uploading the demo content, I’ve sent several messages to your inbox. Please advise how I may contact support. Thanks.
Hello, thanks for your purchase! I’m just replying to the support requests received, including your emails. Cheers, Erik
Just uploaded the theme and am loving it! There doesn’t seem to be an option for Theme options where I can customize background slider image, call to action, etc. Any ideas?
Hello, thanks for your purchase! You might think of the Theme Options subpage in your wordpress admin, however this function was replaced with a whole new drag & drop Page Builder system recently.
Please read the updated theme documentation, everything’s there to get started customizing the theme. To answer your original question, please read the Slider Header part.
Cheers, Erik
I’m getting a strange error trying to upload the file. Maybe it’s my hosting provider, but it says:
“The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.”
Hello, thanks for your purchase! Yeah, it’s a hosting setup thing, please read this article about increase php memory limit. Let me know how it worked out! Cheers, Erik
Hi Erik,
first of all, thanks for creating this awesome theme, it’s definitely worth it’s price. I’m facing with two issues in the navbar section. Site: http://digitalis-marketing.hu/
1. It seems the theme up there cannot handle special characters like “?” or “?”. They should be in the latin extended fonts, but somehow they are displayed kind of funny. Unfortunately in my language these characters are used pretty often, so somehow I should fix this issue.
2. As I scroll down on the page one of the navbar elemen (“Tartalom”) gets a darker background (only that element) and stays like that.
Thanks for the help and have a good one!
Hello, thanks for your purchase and kind words, great to hear that you feel satisfied with the theme!
1.) Incidentally i’m pretty aware about the importance of special characters in hungarian (as that’s my native language either
) altough after checking your site, i haven’t noticed any character issue – maybe you have already solved it? Please note that many available webfonts don’t have latin extended characters, so i recommend to choose one of the most popular complete typefaces like Lato, Open Sans, Roboto etc.
2.) Actually that’s an intentional front-end feature of the sticky navbar, called scrollspy in Bootstrap. It gives a visual feedback for the visitor about which section is being scrolled in the moment. If you’d still like to remove it – just let me know – and i’ll help you through.
Cool site by the way, it’s the first hungarian one i have seen so far!
Cheers, Erik
Hi, first of all thank you very much for the quick response.
Haha, small world,
It’s far from ready, but I do my best to make the most out of your work.
1. I only see this issue in the navbar, to be exact at 2 elements: “A könyvröl” and “A szerzöröl”
2. Here maybe I wasn’t precise enough. As I scroll down the only element on the navbar which gets a darker backgroud is “Tartalom”. As an example let’s say I land on the page, I click to “A Szerzöröl” right away. The page scrolls down to this section, but in the meantime the “Tartalom” element will get a darker background on the navbar.
wp_enqueue_style('Latin', 'https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lato:400,700&subset=latin,latin-ext');
2.) Ok, understood. Sorry for that, but it looks like another bug – as this function neither works on the demo sites. This one has been also added to the to-do list of the next update, thanks for sharing with me.
Until than, i suggest to simply disable it via css:.navbar .navbar-nav > .active > a { background-color: transparent !important; }
Let me know how these worked out!
Greetings from Hungary
Cheers, Erik
Theme looks great so far, just have a few questions before I purchase: 1) Does this theme integrate easily with WooCommerce or some other WP ecommerce tool? Paypal? Assuming I just install as a regular plugin… any plugin recommendations?
2) Is there a built-in feature or a plugin you are aware of that works well with this theme that enables a customer to download an eBook once purchased from the site?
Hello, i’m glad you like it!
1.) FlatBook is a landing page theme in the marketing category, not an entire ebook webstore theme with WooCommerce integration. Despite of this, you can always install third party plugins to make the theme accept online payments, however i can’t recommend any (as i haven’t tested yet) and neither provide support for this extra function as it’s not part of the theme’s default functionalities.
2.) Again, i can’t pick a specific one, but i’m pretty sure about there are many free plugins for this purpose in the official wordpress plugin library.
Let me know if you have further pre-sales question. Cheers, Erik
1) I have two of these sites up and one of them works perfectly, but the second, once I get down a few sections the header goes to italic and when it is brought up on a mobile or ipad/android pad the sample section image pushes up over the chapter titles that are at the side on a desktop on the second and works perfectly well on the first.
2) I cannot seem to get the color change to stick to the counter numbers. When I go into the custom section and adjust the color it shows correctly that the change is being made but when I save and close out it goes back to the default color.
Unfortunately, I can only install on a 4.4.2 wordpress and I see you have it at 4.4.1 so not sure if this is an issue? Also, the first site that works well is on a clients server while the one I am having issues with is on my server. Is this issue php related or something like that and if so, what should it be? Did I forget to install something on the second one?
The two sites: www.tomsalonek.com & www.eyesofkek.com
License info for these two sites: available on request by email.
Thank you for the great sites and resources
Chris
Hi Chris, thanks for your purchase!
1.) I need to check the site, however from the two site links you sent, only one is available ( eyesofkek.com ) and i haven’t noticed any of these when i checked it – so assuming it’s the first one. Please enable it and get back to me with the working link, and i’m going to check it.
2.) Are you using the latest version of the theme? The problem you described was a known bug in the earlier versions, but it has been fixed for now. Anyway, you can adjust it with a line of custom css:.counter-value { color: #yourColor !important; }
Yeah, while the live demo is running on 4.4.1, i don’t see any reason why it should not work with 4.4.2 either, but honestly i haven’t tested it yet.. The creators of WordPress usually take good care of backwards compatibility, so i think the problem is somewhere else.
Nice site by the way!
Cheers, Erik
Thanks for the quick response, Erik.
1) I must have typed the url in wrong, but the site that is working is http://tomsalonek.com The one that I am seeing the header go italic about half way down is the http://eyesofkek.com
2) I am using the most current version. I even downloaded it again after repurchasing to make sure and it came through as 2.0.5
3) The other thing that is happening with http://eyesofkek.com is that on mobile the sample section pushes up into the chapter sample buttons, while on the http://tomsalonek.com it works correctly. Any idea on this would be appreciated.
FINAL – I will reinstall it in another folder and rebuild it to see if it is just something I did, but everything appears to be the same on the back end and up-to-date.
Thanks again. All input is welcome.

1.) Sorry, but i still can’t reproduce the mentioned “header goes italic” issue.. Can you send me a screenshot about this in email?
2.) Sounds odd.. I’m gonna check after this on the demo site. Please use the css snippet than.
3.) Again, please send me a screenshot of this either. I don’t really understand your explanation about this, and tomsalonek.com is still unavailable for me.. Perhaps IP adress from my country is blocked?
Looking forward for your email with the screenshots, hopefully i will be able to help you than. Cheers, Erik
Downloaded the most recent version of the template today (2.0.5) and tried to do a clean install.
While importing demo-2-contents.xml I got errors saying: Failed to import Media “header_bg”, for all the media.
At the end had these errors:
Warning: Illegal string offset ‘file’ in /redacted/wp-content/themes/flatbook/functions.php on line 521
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /redacted/wp-content/themes/flatbook/functions.php on line 523
I looked in both the demo1-contents.xml and demo-2-contents.xml files and I assume the errors are because the URLs to the media are invalid.
[links removed]
Unfortunately the pattern doesn’t work for all the files otherwise I’d do a search and replace in the XML file to get it going.
Hello, thanks for your purchase.
Yeah, good observation. The quoted error message means only that the link is broken in the xml file, meaning the importer was not able to import the header_bg.jpg asset.
Actually this is only a temporary issue – currently moving all of the demo sites to another webhost – and it’s kind of tricky to migrate every database and folder structure to be exactly the same as before, so probably a few links are broken right now.
In the other hand, assuming you would replace the dummy images from the demo to yours anyway, so i think it’s not a major problem to deal with, agree?
Cheers, Erik
Some (most? hard to say) I wouldn’t be replacing, and ones I do replace I might use the originals as a starting point. Regardless it is kind of blocking me, would it be possible to get the images themselves in a zip file then?
Why don’t you just download the missing ones from the demo site you are working with? Right click + Save Image As.. Sounds easier
Cheers, Erik
They’re not all in obvious places to find. I had a previous version of the site backed up from when the demo site data import worked and was able to recover most of what I needed from there.
Okay than, so just let me know which images you can’t find and i’ll send you those if you drop me your email address. Cheers, Erik
Hi Erik!
Awesome work on this theme, thank you!
Quick question about the Overviews section. I am using that section more as a place to add external links since a lot of my writing goes to charity. I am having a hard time with the spacing in the overviews section where the 2nd row is not positioned on the 2nd column under row 1. Is there something I am doing wrong? My goal is making the chapter headers “linkable” so I tried using an image for each and adding Chapter Header, but it added some unwanted code on the site, which was weird! Has anyone else tried to make the headers linkable and you could point me in a quick css/php fix to make this work? Thanks so much for your time!
Michael
Hello Michael, thanks for your purchase and appreciations.
I’m afraid i don’t really understand what are you trying to explain, please send me the url where you have this modified overviews section set up, and i will check it, and come up with a suggestion.
Cheers, Erik
Sorry about that, Erik! I am referring to the contributors link on desktop – [link removed] – Thanks for your time.
No problem. Originally, it was designed to have the overview items with about the same height, but if you would like to use them this way, you need to define a minimum height for each item.
Add this to your css:.overview-item { min-height: 400px; }
Regarding the linked titles, the way you did it looks correct for me. Cheers, Erik
Worked perfectly – you are awesome! Thank you!
No problem!
Happy customizing! Cheers, Erik
Hi I’m trying to install the theme flatbook.zyp but the wordpress gives an error saying “are you sure is this you want to do?”
please advise.
thanks Joao
Hello Joao, thanks for your purchase! Please read this relevant article by wpbeginner, hopefully it helps. Cheers, Erik
Hi! Could you point to any live versions of websites running FlatBook? Your three examples are fine but I’d love to see some variations of how the theme is used in actual practice.
Hello! Sure, you may find them in the real examples section of the item description page of the theme. Let me know if you have further questions. Cheers, Erik
I can’t seem to get my header to be full size. Please help.
Also, how do I insert the book cover into the header?
Great template!
Hello, thanks for your purchase and kind words!
Which header style are you trying to insert? Please read more about the available headers and their options in the Header Layouts section of the theme documentation.
Also, if you are not familiar with website creation with WordPress, it’s highly recommended to import the demo content, it gives you a layout like you have seen in the live theme demo.
Cheers, Erik
Hi Erik,
Fantastic theme, thx! Can you tell me how I could do a semi-transparent color overlay over the Author image in Theme 1?
Hello, thanks for your purchase, amazed that you like it!
Sure, but please specify what do you exactly trying to achieve – afraid i’m not quite sure what do you mean..
If you only need a half-transparent color overlay above your author image, why don’t you just add the overlay with photoshop (or any preferred image editor) and than upload the result?
Sounds easier than coding – in case it doesn’t supposed to have any function on the front end – right? Cheers, Erik
