Hi is it possible to not show the star ratings on the homepage slider, or to set it to be only news items rather than reviewed items? I would just want to show the thumbnails.

And preferably not of reviewed items but just news, or features.

Thanks a lot!

Yup! It’s already built in. Those three items are just sticky posts so they can be in any category, and if you simply don’t give them a star rating, a star rating won’t show up =D

Thanks Jake!

Hey Jake,

First off, let me tell you how much I like this theme. Great work!

I just installed the theme, and for some reason the “Theme Options” option is not showing up in my back end. Do you know why it would be doing that?

Hi ryanpolly, You need to install and activate the plugin “Options Framework.” The theme is dependent on it.

In the demo, it appeared there were no options for sorting by rating, date, etc. Is there an option for this available in the theme?

There is not an option for this, currently. I have it in my notes for the version 2.0 of the theme though ;)

Designcrumbs,

I’ve just purchase the Review website and I’m having some serious issues.

Here they are:

1. The star system isn’t showing up with pictures 2. There is no comment section 3. The widgets are not giving me options as stated in the style sheet

I’ve uninstalled twice and reloaded and still having the same issues.

Please advise,

A. Smith

Hmmm… That sounds very strange. Shoot me an email (support at designcrumbs dot com) with your url and I’ll take a peek.

I downloaded it and when I unzip I see the Help File but where in the help file is the documentation on editing the theme? I can find it in the folders.

There’s an index.html in the Help File folder, just open that in your browser.

Thanks! That fixed it!

I can’t find the Help File in the theme….I am trying to set up my menus but the pages keep showing up above and below the header. How do I get them to just show up above the header and not have any pages below?

Try downloading it again, maybe something went wrong. I just downloaded it and the help file is in there for me. You should be able to go to http://themeforest.net/user/marciajanelle/downloads

Hi, I just purchased the theme. When I installed it it looks like it is missing some files. How do I change it to the dark look and how do I edit the social media apps at the top? The header was also not installed. http://www.utahdiscjockey.com

Thanks for the purchase.

You need to install and activate the “Options Framework” plugin by Devin Price. The theme relies on it.

Read through the Help File that was included with the theme, it explains everything.

Hey, how I can change the names of taxonomies or how I can delete?

example (highlights)

They’re in functions.php, line 528 – 538. You can rename them, comment them out, or delete them.

If you rename them, make sure you also change the names where they’re called at. They’re used on index.php and single.php.

I can’t see the settings option panel, Do you have any idea why?

Error

You need to install the Options Framework plugin by Devin Price.

You can search for and install it from within your dashboard under Plugins > Add New.

Thx buddy!!

You’re welcome :D

I am interested in buying this theme however I am curious about a couple of things before I make the leap…

I have noticed a slow load speed on the smaller images when viewing your chic flick example … the rest of my browsing today is lightening fast. Can you think of a reason why this would be?

Can visitors cast their own vote and use the star rating or is it just the authors when creating reviews?

Is there any way of changing the overal scheme without having to get someone to code this for me (i.e. are there alternate colour schemes included?)

Nice theme in general by the way – I have been looking for something like this for a while.

Many thanks.

Hi johbloodw, The slowness is actually my server, I’m afraid I’ve outgrown it. Moving to a VPS was actually on my to do list for today.

Visitors can NOT rate the posts themselves, it’s set up only for authors. There are a few plugins out there that can handle readers rating posts, but that’s not something that’s part of the theme.

The overall color scheme of the site is just the light and dark options seen in the demo and the 5 star colors seen in the demo, however there is a color picker in the options to choose the color of the links on the site.

I hope that helps! And thanks for the kind words!

How would I make a child theme please? Not done that before :) Thanks

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to do so. If you just google “create wordpress child theme” there are a lot of results of tutorials that walk you through it in detail. =D

Under reviews where it has headings like Rated: PG-13, release date etc. can this be changed to read something else as I would like this to review other things not films? Also has it been tested with a lot of reviews on not just a few, and if so was load time still fast? Thanks

Hi tiameg, Yes, you can change the headings of those fields. A few of my buyers have already done so. First of all, I recommend you make a child theme and do not edit the main theme files, this will allow you to update the theme as I release new versions or bug fixes. Anyway, you’d have to make those changes in functions.php, index.php, and single.php. A simple ‘find and replace’ will do the trick.

For your second question, the site Chick Flick Reviews currently has 413 posts and 1,500+ comments and is running nice and smooth.

I meant, is there a .po file in your theme? Most premium themes are including a .po file, which contains all of your English words, and we can edit it with editpo to edit it in OUR own language. Because we actually can’t translate your theme correctly whitout focusing onto the code, and I am not able to do so. So if you can, please include a .po file.

I don’t have anything now, but I’ll look into this for future releases. Thanks Steven!

Do you provide a .po file for translations? If you do, I am gonna buy the theme :)

Sorry, no. I have no way of knowing what other languages say ;)

Great theme,great support, great value!

Ability to tailor the product attributes to suit books, for example, rather than films would allow it be used for a broader set of review items. All in good time….

Thanks for the kind words gkenny!

Great theme! Quick question: How do I get the Main page to have the previous and next page links to show up?

Thanks!

Unfortunately, having the featured posts on top using the Sticky function doesn’t let the page use the ‘next’ and ‘previous’ links. It would simply loop the same posts on each page.

The only workaround I can suggest is to place a link to an archive page on the bottom of the index.php.

I’ll look into this more in future releases. Hopefully I can incorporate something into the options page.

Great news, I fixed this. It’s now working in version 1.0.5 of the theme.

Great theme buddy! Love the logo font too, what is that?

Pacifico =)

Hi there, Love the theme and setup has been very smooth so far. Quick question for you, I would like to organize the reviews by Genre in some way. I have too many to separate all the genres into their own categories in the navigation and the theme does not support drop downs to put under the Review link. Is there a good way you could suggest to do this?

Thanks for the purchase and kind words!

I plan on adding the ability for drop down menus into the next release here within the next few weeks. Hopefully that will help you out!

I just updated the theme, it now supports children links in the drop down menu. Grab the new version and give it a whirl!

You can check out the demo to see the drop downs if you like =)
