Re:Video
I would like the video to be on the main site rather than being linked to a new window. I have seen this in other themes before and I assumed this should do the same trick. How can you accomplish this?
WordPress allows you to embed videos by simply adding the URL to the content area or using the [video] shortcode. The same technique can be used when adding videos to Visual Composer “Text Block” elements. There is also a purpose built “Video (Embed)” element included with Visual Composer specifically for adding YouTube or Vimeo videos to your site.
Great thanks!
Hi there,
Is there separate documentation available on how to set-up this theme properly?
The documentation file is included in the complete download. Its a 2000 word document in HTML format going through the basics of setting the theme up. If you’ve used a WordPress theme before there the steps should be familiar to you.
- Install and activate the theme (and option child theme).
- Install and activate the recommended plugins in the notice at the top of the dashboard pages
- (Optional) Import the demo XML
- Tweak the settings on the Theme Options screen or in the customizer
hi there, yeah I was wondering where I could find the actual xml file that looks exactly like this demo page: http://themes.eugeneo.com/experience/, it seems to be missing on my end. I have tried a few of the xml files, none look like this. I appreciate of course they would not have the media attached to it, still it does not match this set-up I want.
Please advise
hey there. thanks very much.
i am afraid i have another issues straight away, when importing it, it tells me that i do not have a home page, although i did not have one. And thus it only displays the blog in the front-end. If i then create a home page itself and set it as the static home page, it obviously does not look like your set-up.
Could you advise pls? It seems as if the xml file may be missing the home page or there is an issue with importing the xml file.
The demo content should include a page titled “Home” which is the same as the demo home page but without any media. I have tested the xml and it imported correctly including that “Home” page so my best guess is that there was an error when you imported the data.
I can only recommend deleting the site data and re-importing the xml.
Hi guys, you did a really great work! Just the color schemes I find kind of confusing even as a designer/developer.
My questions:
1) could you add an option to switch from overlay navigation (hamburger) to a regular menu? That would be a great enhancement
2) if I use Templatera plugin and add a post grid as a template, it won’t load so this functionality (master components) is kind of useless (devtools: Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: {‘status’:’Nothing found’} – using latest version of your theme, Visual Composer and your Composer extension
Thank you for your time.
Best,
Ladislav
1.) There are no plans to add that option but you could probably do it your self quite easily as the structure (list items) should be similar.
2.) I’m not familiar with the Templatera plugin and as it’s a premium plugin it’s not something I can currently test and debug. You could try contacting WPbakery and seeing if they can suggest what might cause that kind of issue to give me a place to start. It would be unfair to expect them to fix the issue but any guidance or suggestions they could provide would be helpful.
Colour Schemes
In the theme options you can create up to 10 colour schemes. These colour schemes can then be applied to individual pages and visual composer elements. This way you create a colour scheme once and apply it to as many different sections and elements as you want rather than recreating the colour schemes manually each time.Hi,
I’ve purchase experience-showcase-theme, and I would like to know how can I can display more item than 9, on portfolios ? To see 12 players instead of 9 on this page : http://www.triplethreat.biz/portfolio_category/portfolio Can you help me?
Good job for this theme, thank you a lot
For post and portfolio item archives the theme uses the “Blog pages show at most” option on the Settings > Reading screen in the admin dashboard.
Hi,
My site with this theme does not seem to be responsive for mobile devices and is showing as a very long page.
Are there any settings that should also be enabled so that people viewing on a mobile phone see the site suitable for them?
Many thanks,
The theme is responsive as long as the responsive stylesheet is loaded (which it is by default). Post a link to your site so I can see the issue.
www.riofirefly.co.uk thanks
The responsive layout is working as it should but the content added via plugins (in particular some of the headings and Visual Composer custom padding and margins) are not responsive which is effecting the layout. There’s nothing the theme can do about that.
Also, your site title is too long. Either replace it with an image logo or you can add a shorter title to display in the site header via the “Site Text Logo” option on the Theme Options > General screen.
Hi – Ok thanks – do you know what plugins I need to remove so that it is mobile responsive again? Many thanks
It’s difficult to say and it’s not really an issue of removing them. The problem is their CSS is not responsive.
If you look at the bold text at the top of your home page:
TURN YOUR WHEELCHAIR INTO A POWERED TRIKE
If you were using the theme’s default header styling the text would get smaller as the browser window gets smaller but because there is a plugin applying it’s own classes to the headings (.vcop-heading .normal .vcop-align-center .heading-1) it is overwriting the theme styles preventing that from happening.
I’m facing issue at Testimonial arrow & also at slider bottom navigation please help me out
Thanks
I need a link to the page to see the issue.
how can i change the link of the watch film?
You can add a url to any YouTube, Vimeo or MP4 video to the Video Button element in Visual Composer.
You can add the url to any YouTube, Vimeo or MP4 video as the Header Slider slide button URL field to open the video in the lightbox.
Hi, the problem is that I can’t find a way to change the video link of the ‘watch film’ button in the header. Here is the link to my project: http://hinihika.com/iteration1/
Thanks. Hoping for clear instructions.
You can change the header slider button link on the page’s edit screen. Scroll down to the Header Options metabox where the option to add new slides is. There you can change change the slide button URL to the video’s YouTube page url, Vimeo page url or MP4 file path.
Hi, here my site: http://fibresdeverreabitibi.com/ I try to put the photos on my homepage full width as the example : themes.eugeneo.com/experience-organization/ But I don’t know where I can remove the margins
You need to set the Row Horizontal Padding to none to remove the left and right padding.
Dear Support Team,
I’m struggling in finding a solution to customise a text generated with CUSTOM HEADING. In wpbakery tutorials I could see that CUSTOM HEADING provides settings to change the font, font size or text color. I contact the wpbakery support team and they told me that the custom heading elements is modified by the theme author. They say that you have disabled a few settings. How can I get rid of the code that is hiding some of the custom heading elements?
Thank you for your help!
I’m having trouble with single images centering on Windows. They are tagged center in VC and are centered on Mac browsers but they seem to be left justified on Windows machines.
Thoughts?
I’m not able to reproduce the issue. Please post a link to your site.
I’m not seeing the issue anywhere on that page. Tested in Chrome, Firefox and Edge.
It’s happening in Internet Explorer
Look in /vc_templates in the experience theme and rename vc_single_image.php to vc_single_image-backup.php and see if the problem is still present.
I’m having trouble with video backgrounds on some browsers/screens. The bg block turns grey and the video does not appear in some instances. Any thoughts on fixing?
Which browsers and operating system does this happen on? Does this happen with background videos added to the page header, a Visual Composer Row or both? Is the YouTube video player loading animation visible?
It’s happening on Chrome Desktop – OS X El Capitan 10.11.3, Safari on iphone – It is fine on a mac display monitor but when moved to a macbook it disappears. It also does not appear on mobile browser. No load button it’s just a grey screen behind the play button. It’s not background player on the page header, it’s further down on a VC row that came from the default VC templates on the the extension.
Can you post a link to your site?
The mobile behaviour is expected. Background videos are hidden on mobile devices because they are not able to auto play them. If they were not hidden you would just see the big red YouTube play button. Instead, the video player is hidden and whatever image you have set as the background image is displayed. I recommend that when you set a background video that you also set a background image as a fallback for mobile devices that cannot display the video.
If the video player does not display at all on the Macbook it is most likely because it is being caught by the media queries in the CSS that hide the video player on mobile.
The Chrome issue I’m not sure about. If the video player is not visible then it’s probably the same issue with the CSS hiding the video player.
Background video not appearing – similar to Nicola’s comment. I have the newest Visual Composer on http://bfd.ae4.mwp.accessdomain.com/ – set background video in Header Options on home page and it doesn’t appear.
Updated to add that the video does load in Safari, but not Chrome or Firefox on the Mac.
I’ve taken a look at your site and the video loads in Chrome and Firefox on Windows. I don’t have a Mac devices but I don’t see any obvious reason why they shouldn’t.
What’s the device and resolution resolution? Background videos are disabled on tablets and mobile but that CSS might also unintentionally affect some other devices.
Does the video loading icon display?
The video code itself is the same HTML markup and JavaScript used by Visual Composer to output background videos so if a background video added to a row in Visual Composer works so should a background video added to the header.
How interesting. I’m on a Mac and I have all three browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and Safari) open to the same width. The video loading icon displays in all and I can even see the call to YouTube in the footer bar but it just doesn’t play in Chrome or Safari.
If the video loading icon is display it means the video player is being output correctly.
Try adding the same background video to a Visual Composer row. Check again in all three browsers and see if you get the same result.
NOTICE:
Version 1.0.8 of Experience restores the vc_custom_heading Visual Composer element to the plugin’s default. If you have imported the demo content from a previous version of the theme or you have created your site using the visual composer heading element you should update the Experience Visual Composer Extension plugin and switch your headings to the new experience_heading element. This can be done quickly following these steps:
- Go to the page’s edit screen and clicking the classic editor button above Visual Composer.
- Click on the HTML tab on the content editor and copy the page’s content.
- Paste the page content into a text editor and use the text editor’s find/replace tool to find “vc_custom_heading” and replace it with “experience_heading”.
- Copy the new page content and paste it back into the HTML view of the page’s content editor.
- Click the save button to save the changes.
Anyway I could override home.php in child template?
You should be able to copy home.php to the child theme and make the changes in the child theme version.
home.php itself uses get_template_part() to include loop-grid.php…<?php get_template_part( 'templates/loop', 'grid' ); ?>...so you might also want to copy over and edit that file.
Why can’t I change the font size through “Custom Heading”? I watched a lot of tutorial about this tool but in my visual composer plugin I don’t have the options to change font size. This is very frustrating… Can you give me some advise please
Some of the VC elements have been customized to fit the theme. That means some options are not available that are usually. This is to ensure that the styling of elements are consistent across the theme.
In hindsight I can see that a customizable Custom Heading element would be useful. What I can do is add a separate custom heading that contains the theme’s default styling headers and leave the standard Visual Composer Custom Heading as is.
it would be great if you could add a separate custom heading that contains settings to change, font size, color, and style. Is it possible to add these features?
They were added in the last update. The vc_custom_heading was reverted back to the default version and a new experience_heading element was added. If you want a heading that matches the theme styling use the new experience_heading. If you want a customizable heading use the VC custom heading. You will need to update both the Experience theme and Experience Visual Composer Extension plugin.
I have the newest version of the theme and plugin but I can’t find VC CUSTOM HEADING.
Its just called Custom Heading in the element list.
http://oi64.tinypic.com/xml3zd.jpgUpdating is easy.
- Download the latest version of the theme from your Themeforest account.
- Delete the theme AND Experience Visual Composer Extension plugin from your WordPress installation.
- Install and activate the new version of the theme.
- Click the recommended plugin notification at the top of the screen or go to Appearance > Install Plugins to install and activate the new version of the Experience Visual Composer Extension.
Does Visual Composer not come with this theme download? I purchased the theme but only the Experience Visual Composer Extension appears in the plugins. Nothing shows up without Visual Composer.
I answered my own question
It clearly states several times on the item description page that Visual Composer is sold separately.
Got it, thanks
When install theme I get Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_plugin_data() in /home/mountainstudioco/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer_experience/js_composer_experience.php on line 102
Try this version of the plugin instead: http://www.eugeneo.com/downloads/js_composer_experience/js_composer_experience.zip
I would like to ask a few questions before I buy: (1) Can I use a small repeating pattern instead of large header image on one screen page layout. How could I set this up? (2) Can I have the 3 line menu icon permanently floating on desktop/mobile website instead of the little line scroller? (3) The share buttons dont share on the demo? (4) How can I combine elements from different demos? Many thanks in advance.
1.) It could be done but would require a line of custom CSS to tell the theme to repeat the image on that page. I don’t think it would work with the parallax effect.
2.) There is no option to do that.
3.) They are not share buttons. They are for links to social network profile pages.
4.) You would have to import all the demo content XMLs and pick out the parts you want to use.
Thanks man. Can the default loading icon be changed?
The loading icon is a CSS animation. There is no option to change it.
Where is the dummy data located?
You can find the demo content xml files inside the demos folder in the complete theme package. There is a separate xml file for each of the demos.
Dang it! I don’t have that folder or the account (client) I downloaded it from. Would it be possible for you to email me the demo folder? If yes could you send it to benhansen.flix@gmail.com. It would be of great help.
I want to change the color of the sticky menu menu logo and nav menu (hamburger) and social link icons? Where is that in theme options? Right now when you scroll the nav for the sticky menu background turns white but the text disappears because it is white. http://theuxmethod.com/. I don’t mind if the nav stays white I just want the text to be a different color. You can’t see it now because it is white. Also how can I just turn the sticky menu off If I like? Thanks.
The navigation colour options on the Theme Options > Style > Navigation tab are what you’re looking for. These are the default navigation colours which are also the colours used after the page has been scrolled.
If you set the navigation bar to transparent for a specific post, page or portfolio item (on its edit screen) you are then given the option to set a text colour and logo for that specific page (also on the edit screen).
The same applies to archives and special pages. If you set the navigation bar background to transparent in the theme options (Post Archives, Search, Portfolio Archives and 404 tabs) you can set a text colour and logo specifically for that page.
I’m not sure I explained that very well but I hope that makes sense.
So on the homepage (edit page) I set the bar to be transparent and chose black for the nav text and icon. The text didn’t change, still white. Can you help?
I solved it by making it a static nav
On the edit page you want to enable the transparent navigation option and set the text to white. When the page has not been scrolled the navigation bar will be transparent with white text.
Then, in the Theme Options > Style >Navigation you want to set the navigation background to white and the text to black. After the page has been scrolled the navigation bar will be white and the text will be black.
