Hello, I am a little worried about the impending update to avada 5. I use avada on a site that’s too important to me to have it broken, even in a little way. So, when updates have become available in the past I have simply taken an entire site backup and installed it on a spare domain (the .uk version of my domain instead of the production .co.uk version) and then done the upgrade there, tested and assured myself it’s all okay (and what to do if it isn’t) before then doing the same on the real site.
I see notes on your site about how every install has to be registered, etc, and it sounds as if this will bugger up that practice. It sounds as if I’ll need to mess about registering the theme on the spare domain, go through the setup and so on, but then not be able to set things up afterwards on my real production site. Is that correct? Or will I be able to ‘remove’ the theme registration from one site and revert it to the correct site when I do the ‘real’ upgrade?
In case it’s your answer, I never test (or even work) on a local install, online online where I can see the real effects of changes on a live site.
I’d be gratefull for your feedback here, as this is quite an important question. I’m sure other people using staging or spare domains for tests to avoid problems with changes and updates.

First and foremost, besides following update instructions 100%, running an update on a staging domain first is sensible practice if that sets your mind at ease regarding updating your installation. (particularly for users who have missed numerous major updates for the theme)
The requirement to register your purchase is nothing new, as you know, and for Avada 5.0 doing a dry run of the update on a staging domain is not going to be affected by this in essence. So let me explain:
Fist and foremost, the new token registration requirement for Avada 5.0 is born out of Envato deprecating the existing API for a new improved API so this is unavoidable for us
With regard to your own update method, there is two ways you can do this; Either one as good and safe as the other
1 – Avoid trying to update directly to Avada 5.0 from say an old version like 2.XX or 3.XX. Make a copy of your existing site and set it up on a staging domain. Then run the update to Avada 4.0.3 first, check it over and then run the update to 5.0 and after perform the token registration – the update runs smoothly and if you do not want to adjust anything, you can then run the same update cycle on your live site
2 – Avoid trying to update directly to Avada 5.0 from say an old version like 2.XX or 3.XX. Make a copy of your existing site and set it up on a staging domain. Then run the update to Avada 4.0.3 first, check it over and then run the update to 5.0 after perform the token registration – the update runs smoothly, make some adjustments if you prefer and then simply migrate the updated staging site over to your live site and then register again.
So it comes down to A dry run on staging and then a live run vs. a dry run on staging and migrate over to live
Either way, token registration is not going to hamper you with this. And to add to that, our team is ensuring that as per any update release of Avada, updates will be seamless, just make sure the update instructions are followed 100%

Okay, thanks for the answer. My concern was that I would register the new version on the test domain and then be unable to do the update on my proper site. I’m not updating from old versions, but from the latest, but I have seen countless issues that have occurred after updates and don’t want to suffer any. It’s not just a question of what Avada does or doesn’t do, as you are obviously aware, but how avada updates affect any of the plugins I currently use (for things like registration, cpt management, custom field management, seo, security, caching, payment systems and so on.
You seem to be saying that the registration token can be transferred between sites whilst tests are going on, and after? Is that right?
As an additional question, my site currently uses 3 CPTs, each with 3 taxonomies, uses ACF Pro for custom field management (some 30-40 fields per CPT) and Formidable forms pro for front-end user-registration+posting+payment (single forms combining the functions) and also for front-end post editing. There are probably 1500 posts currently live.
I’m curious to know what you’ve done on the CPT side and if it will impact on existing CPTs, as their existence is the sole reason for my site existing..! I looked but didn’t see anything by way of info on this.

You shouldn’t have any issues registering your site. As long as you own an individual license for each site that runs Avada, your registration will work without any issues.
In regards to your CPTs, you shouldn’t notice any differences between Avada 4.0.3 and 5.0. The only changes made a related to the page builder and it’s functionality on the custom post type’s editor.

Hello! after using CDN all icons are gone just a square box is there!! now i see this notice: Font from origin has been blocked from loading by Cross-Origin Resource Sharing policy: No ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ header is present on the requested resource. I purchased the Avada theme back in May 2014 but didn’t get around to using it until now. It came with 6 months support included in the purchase. Does the 6 months support start from now and run through to March 2017?

On the english version, it all works great, the scroll to anchor works as it should – but on the danish version, it “jumps” – and when I deactivate WPML, it works as it should :s

Hi, After the download I installed the theme, then tried to install the revslider, but it give HTTP ERROR 500. Wordpress version 4.6.1. What did I wrong? If I delete the revslider from the plugins folder, everything looks fine…

Hmm it seems it was either uploaded wrong or something is corrupt with your WP install.
Download a fresh copy of the theme and install it, if that does now work contact your host about the ERROR 500 HTTP as that is server related for certain, that will be able to help.

hey, about 2 years ago you guys said you where gonna introduce an newly build photo/image gallery to avada. So far after 2 years still no new Gallery. When can we finally expect the new gallery?

It’s not actually been 2 years, if it has, wow time sure does fly! We base our new features off what our user base requests versus also what is currently out there to use.
However, there have been new gallery featuers aded since then Even our portfolio custom post type can be used for this, as seen on this demo: http://avada.theme-fusion.com/photography/
In addition we did add the image frame element that allows you to connect any image on the page to a light box gallery, which is fast and easy to do.
Lastly, you can also use the built in WP gallery for this and currently there are dozens of free image gallery plugins to use with Avada that work.
Because of these 3 reasons, and the overwhelming requests for other features, we’ve listened to our customer base based off highest popularity and have done what has been requested.
With that being said, we do have a gallery product in development that has been designed and plotted out, and partially developed. It is just not finished as we ended up focusing on other higher priority items. Being a photographer, I myself cannot wait to have what we plan for the gallery feature/product we have planned However at this time, there are plenty of ways to build a gallery with Avada so I use those at the moment.

Hi I have tried grid view for posts & I have issue in loading featured images on main grid view page. At first images are not loading though image size is under100 kb , it is loading after I view single post then when I go back & reload page then only that single post image will appear

I need to double check with you, are you referring to something on one of our demos or your own installation of Avada? We certainly do not have any performance related issues when loading Blog posts, regardless of the light, in any of our demos. Can you perhaps show us a link of what you are referring to?

@Themefusion_support… Do you endore a beta of your theme from your thirdparty? roma was not build in a day indeed, plus Fusionbuilder is part of the bundle, I dont know what that guys sais since his comment is blocked out but… As a Fan, though agravating it is to hear there is some postponment in the neversions since 4.6 is make ing curent version of avada buggy for me….. Im a fan, So ill wai even though other moderators have mentioned that its was to come out weeks ago…. my question… does Themefusion 100% reliable for any…. malicious intent from this thrid party beta made 5.0 version of avada…. cus ill follow you guys to the grave….. but if its just something some guys made the hell no….
