Is it possible to have the images on the homepage slider link to a Page instead of a Post category? Ideally, it’d be great to have the ability to link to both Pages and Posts. Is this possible?
I saw this mentioned months ago but I didn’t see a posted solution outside of directly contacting you.
Thanks for your help!
Hello there,
Yes it is possible. You can use the “Custom Link” option inside the Post options panel of the slider post. You will find options to hide a caption, link images to custom URL , or no-link.
Inside the custom link, you can provide the absolute URL of the page you wish to link to.

Thank you!
Thank you for your reply.
It is, however, something else I’m asking.
Let’s say I’ve created a page with 3 tabs on it, each explaining a different aspect of a product.
I wish to link to each tab from different adword adds. How do I do that?
Kind regards
Hello again,
I guessed that. Unfortunately, that will not be possible in our case. This is because the tab IDs are generated randomly using an integer value. For example tab1 has an id=1799, and you link to it using the same ID. But when you will land on the page, it may again get changed to some other value.
The random IDs are created so that the tabs can be used multiple times without any ID conflict. Linking from external page will be difficult here.
Just for your reference, one of the buyers asked the same thing, and I provided him a solution with custom tab code. But the implementation was not 100% successful. If you need that markup, here it is:
<div class="tabber">
<div class="tabbed" id="my_tab_1">
<h4 class="tab_title">Tab1</h4>
<p>Tab1 content here.</p>
</div>
<div class="tabbed" id="my_tab_2">
<h4 class="tab_title">Tab2</h4>
<p>Tab2 content here.</p>
</div>
<div class="tabbed" id="my_tab_3">
<h4 class="tab_title">Tab3</h4>
<p>Tab3 content here.</p>
</div>
</div>
Paste this code in HTML mode of the editor and save the page. The tabs will function normally, and you can try linking to these custom IDs.

Hello there!
It seems to work quite nicely :o)
For future readers the linking is done like this: http://www.my-domain/my-sub-page?id=my_tab_1#my_tab_1
Any chance you could make an updated version of the theme where this function is included in the tabs-function so I won’t have to implement the code on all my pages? ...pretty please :o)
Kind regards (and thank you for your help so far :o)
Hello again,
I am glad it worked. However, it’s implementation via short codes will require manual addition of IDs, and that may take some more parameters. I will see if that can be done.
Regards
Hi!
How do you link to a tab in the theme Hulk?
Hello there,
Tabs are created using the short codes (as described inside the documentation file). The tab links are automatically created using a random integer ID via JavaScript. You just need to use the short code with appropriate tab title.
Let me know if you were asking something different.

Hi,
Great looking theme! I am considering purchasing for a client, but have one question about the Portfolio section.
Can I have multiple navigation levels in the portfolio? For example, a main Portfolio nav item on the top line, then drop downs that say Print, Web, Multimedia, each with the 4-column portfolio layout?
This doesn’t seem like a big deal but I thought I’d ask!
Thank you in advance for your reply,
Jennifer
Hello Jennifer,
That can be done by inserting WP Menu inside one of the portfolio template files, and then configuring that menu from the WordPress Menu manager.

Thanks for the quick reply! Can I also have captions showing?
Hello again,
Yes you can show post titles (on portfolio items), or opt to hide them all.

Hi,
Greta theme, it was though choice between this one and your latest. Sorry if this has been asked already, but could you add add a social media icon for Skype?

Sure thing. The URL is: http://carlinogroup.com/zeta/
Just so you know. I updated the “page_slider_updates” in order to troubleshoot it the problem and see if I could get around it that way, but no luck. Although I do prefer the page method over the post method, I continue having the same problem.
Any suggestions?
Hello there,
I can see that you are still using version 1.2 of the theme. The jquery.easing.min.js file is causing a JS conflict.
You can disable it inside header.php line no. 40:
wp_enqueue_script("jq-easing", $dir."/js/jquery.easing.min.js");
You can also upgrade this js/jquery.easing.min.js file to the latest version / or delete it’s call as I mentioned above. Both solutions will work.

Great Theme. I actually purchased your “Cruz” theme last week but decided on this one because it meets the style I’m looking for. I’ve noticed the themes work very similarly and that the set up is pretty much identical to “Cruz”. I went ahead and created 5 images for the Nivo slider and put the category number in the “Hulk” slider. I followed all the instructions and even created a new category just to troubleshoot this before I decided to message you. I named all the slides 1-5 and all that seems to happen is; when I refresh the page thinking that the slide will begin, it just stays stuck on slide 1. Is there something I am not doing right? I’ve done this on the “Cruz” theme without any problems, and am just wondering why I can’t make it work here.
Thanks in advance.
Hello there,
You may need to update the posts (created for slider). It is possible that the variables do not get updated. However, I suspect some other issue. I can be more specific if I see the URL . Are you testing on a local server?

Have the same issue with home page slide show as the above user. Just quit working all of the sudden without warning…
Hello there,
Can I have a look at the URL please.

Hello again,
It seems you recently upgraded to WP 3 .2.1, but the theme is still 1.2.
You can either upgrade the theme to the latest version, or do a small fix as I am describing below:
There is a JS conflict due to js/jquery.easing.min.js file. Inside header.php line no. 40, you will see its call as:
wp_enqueue_script("jq-easing", $dir."/js/jquery.easing.min.js");
Delete or disable this line, and your JS effects will work normal as before.

Hi Saurabh,
Just shot you an email regarding an issue with I’m experiencing with the Hulk Theme Slideshow on my sites.
Thank you in advance for your help and I look forward to your email!

Hello Justin,
Replied your email.

Awesome! Thanks!
Hi! Sorry for my english!!
I want to use a mega-menu, http://wpmegamenu.com/, how do I replace the menu hulk?
Hello there,
The hulk menu is called inside heder.php file line no. 69:
<?php wp_nav_menu( array( 'container' ?> 'none', 'menu_class' => 'nav1', 'theme_location' => 'primary' ) ); ?>
You can remove the menu by deleting this line. The theme supports WP3 Menu system. So you can install that plugin. Rest of the instructions can be gathered from the plugin documentation.
If you need any help in registering menu with Hulk theme, I will assist accordingly.

Hello saurabh,
I combine your very nice Hulk theme with the ecommerce plugin called Shopp. This works very Nice together, THE only thing is that THE lay out is now rather messy. See the following pages: http://www.alfa-romeo-4c.nl/shop/ http://www.alfa-romeo-4c.nl/shop/cart/ http://www.alfa-romeo-4c.nl/shop/checkout/ http://www.alfa-romeo-4c.nl/shop/confirm-order/ http://www.alfa-romeo-4c.nl/shop/thanks/It is possible for you to provide me with some css styles for THE Shopp lay out? For example in lay out form, or with lines etc, so the styling is more in line with the rest of the theme. This could also be helpfull for otter Hulk users to combine the Shopp plugin with Hulk.
Hope to hear from you, regards,
Hans
Hello Hans,
The tables and some form elements are not showing properly because we have reset all HTML elements to zero margin, padding and border inside style.css (1. Reset Browser Defaults).
In order to have default browser style, you can simply remove the following selectors from this section:
fieldset, form, label, legend, table, caption, tbody, tfoot, thead, tr, th, td
Next, you can style individual form elements by finding their class names by looking at the source code.
Since there are many plugins that use different class names for form elements, I haven’t provided any specific rule for forms. I will update style.css for default forms on this theme.
You can also mail me your style.css file (in .zip format) at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com. I will make necessary fixes.

Hello. Loving your theme! I was wondering if you can offer a suggestion as to the easiest way to update the theme? I want to make sure my theme has the Aug 15th version updates. Thanks!
Hello ehartfield,
If you have made custom changes to the style.css file, you can replace all the theme files EXCEPT style.css.
You can also update selective files that are mentioned inside the update log section of the item description page. You would do so by using any FTP program or file manager of your hosting.

hello Saurabh, I have Hulk, it’s great. My problem is on my contact page: I have set the sidebar to be on the right but it comes up beneth the contact form. Here is the link: http://kennedyarchitecture.ie/contact, am I doing something wrong? Thanks, Melissa
Hello Melissa,
Inside style.css file section 3. Structure, locate the following line:
.content { position:relative; float:left; width:910px; padding:0px; margin:30px 10px 0px 30px }
The width for content in original file was 590. So you will need to change this line to:
.content { position:relative; float:left; width:590px; padding:0px; margin:30px 10px 0px 30px }
When no sidebar is used, a .wide class is added to the content that is 900px wide.
Regards
thank you very much, that’s great! Melissa
Saurabh,
Thanks for your prompt reply. The code change you suggested had no effect.
Strangely, it was working fine at one time, then stopped working. I only added a plugin for portfolio slideshows, and I tried deactivating it, and buttons still didn’t work.
I am all up to date on everything, including Hulk. Pardon my ignorance, I don’t know what you mean to upgrade the jquery cycle plugin, since it’s the one that comes with Hulk. I saw no options to upgrade. Is the JS upgrade something else in WP? I’m also running latest WP.
Let me know if you need access.
Thanks again,
-al
Hello Al,
By upgrading to latest cycle plugin, I was referring to upgrade the jquery.cycle.min.js file from the plugin site.
The activeSlide issue is raised many times on the Cycle Forums. I have surfed across them but strangely I couldn’t find the actual cause. I will update you as soon as find it.

Saurabh,
The bullet nav for my home page slider stopped working – they will not change with the image. It was working while setting up the site. Before when I had a similar problem, you had sent a fix, but both versions will not work.
The current code is:
.cycle_nav li.activeSlide a { background-position:-18px 0px }
but it does not also work with:
.cycle_nav a.activeSlide { background-position:-18px 0px }
My site is http://alferreiraphotography.com
Much appreciated. Thanks again,
al
Hello again,
I have looked the slider. The activeSlide issue seems strange. Try to change the CSS as shown below:
ul.cycle_nav li a.activeSlide { background-position:-18px 0px }
Also, try to upgrade the jquery cycle plugin with latest JS. Hope it works. Else I will look further.
Regards
Hi Saurabh,
Thanks for the info. My website was migrated to faster servers at GoDaddy- they switched me to SSH and to a “4GH” grid environment which is supposed to be faster load times.
Supposedly all paths remained intact, and all seems to work fine, but could this an issue?
Also, the only css modification I did to the buttons was increase the right margin from 18 to 24 to line them up with the image edge, but was working fine after this.
If the cycle buttons don’t work, is there an easy code to render them invisible while we figure out the problem – no sense showing them if they don’t work.
Thanks,
-al
Hell Al,
I just added the following rule inside the head section of the site using firebug:
ul.cycle_nav li a.activeSlide { background-position: -18px 0px }
and the bullets seem to work fine. Kindly mail me your login details at xconsau[at]gmail[dot] com so that I will fix it at your end.

Saurabh,
This should be simple, but can’t seem to find and answer – I’m using your Hulk theme and want to have a drop down menu on the header.
It’s easy enough, but how does one create the top level title menu? In other words, it would say Portfolio and drops down to show the Portfolio pages nestled in. Clicking on menu item only opens the drop down.
I’ve been doing the top level title by adding a top level link, adding to the menu, removing link so it is not active, and nestle the other menu pages into it. Seems to work ok, but I’m sure there’s a correct way.
I tried to study your dummy layout but answer was not clear.
Thanks in advance,
Al
Hello Al,
You can easily create a menu by using the Appearance > Menus option of WordPress.
Create a new menu (say, my_menu) and assign it to the Primary Navigation section. Next, populate the menu(on right side of page) with some links.
For nested dropdowns, you can drag the menu items to the right side. The link that appears just above the dragged item will be treated as parent of that link. If you face any confusion, you can send me your WordPress login at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com, I will create a menu for you.
Regards
Saurabh,
Thanks for your reply. I was probably not clear with my question. My confusion is how to create the parent top menu item for a nested drop down.
Since this parent item is a title only with no direct links, I can’t seem to figure out how to create a simple menu item with no links – strictly a parent title for nested items. I see in WP ways of creating menu items for pages, categories, or links but not a parent item with a name only for nested menus.
As I said before, what I’ve done with Hulk is adding a link item to the menu, and once in place, removing the link so it only works as a parent for its nested items. Bus this way does not seem correct.
Hopefully, I’ve explained it a bit clearer. Thanks for your patience.
Hello Al,
You can place a dummy link using the Appearance > Menus > Custom Links Panel. Inside this panel, provide the following details:
URL: http://# Label: Your Link Name
Next, click on “Add to menu”. After this, you can set other menu items as child of this dummy link.
Thanks for your reply. That’s the way I’ve been doing it, except instead of ”#”, I just deleted the link after adding it to the menu.
I just wanted to make sure there wasn’t another way.
Thanks again for your great support.

I just purchased the theme and as I am going through the set up of new pages, I notice that pages and posts without sufficient content have a floating footer … meaning that the footer does not stay put in a browser. have you considered implementing sticky footers for this theme?
Hello vikerious,
Footers can be made sticky by either using a fixed bottom position, or by using percentage for bottom value. In second case, it is hard to calculate actual bottom values in percentage due to the involved padding and margins.
A fixed positioned footer will always appear on top stack order, overlapping the content. Generally, the sticky footer issue is resolved by giving the color of body same as that of footer. You can change the body color to the one as inside .footer { } selector.

okokok, seriously last question (we present to the client tomorrow, so I promise no more!)
http://www.dingdots.com/mich2011/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Sample1Layout3.jpgThere is a small amount of white space below the header/logo/brand – just wondering how to remove that?
!!! thanks again!
Hello Nikolasa,
Kindly send me the URL again. The old one isn’t working. I can view the source code and tell more.
Regards
Hello again,
Its the empty header widget area that is causing the white space. Inside style.css file, add a rule at the bottom of the stylesheet:
.header_wgt_area { display:none }
Regards
Hola that worked perfectly, I’d love if you’d consider posting this work around in your FAQs
– no doubt you’d tidy it up, but it’ll save you time and energy having to explain it again – oh and in case I forget
Here is my understanding of what you’ve outlined:
How to add a full (960px) banner to the logo area
You will need to do the following:
Change the code in styles.css in the following tags:
.header_wrap .brand
Find and replace the following into style.css:
- .header_wrap { position:relative; width:960px; text-align:left; background:#303132; margin:0px auto; padding:0px }
- .brand { float:center; width:320px; margin:0px; padding:0px; line-height:0px }
Find and replace the following code in Styles.php to the following:
- echo( ’.brand { margin:’.$hlk_logo_mrgtop.’px 0px ’.$hlk_logo_mrgbtm.’px 0px }’); Viola! Wicked and thanks for following this through with me
