When WP updated to 7.0, the newer jQuery version broke the old version of VC – not just Salient VC so yes, if you’re using the new WP you also need the new Salient/Salient VC, what’s the reason you don’t want to update the theme?

It’s not that we don’t “want” to update the theme … it’s that we’re apparently forced to buy the latest version when we should be able to continue at least editing the page content on our website, regardless of WP version.

Are we missing some hidden upgrade option or are we required to purchase the latest version of Salient?

Once you purchase a license you have access to all future updates, even if you purchased years ago – that’s how all licenses work for any theme on ThemeForest not just Salient. I can’t see a purchase tag on this account so if you purchased on another account you would just need to log into there to download the latest update.
