Trying to identify why the site is so slow. I have a number of optimization plugins installed and GTmetrix shows the page is 887KB in size and there are only 30 requests. Grade is B at 87% but the fully loaded time is 16 seconds! It looks like the minified JS and CSS are taking forever to load. Why?

Would you please create a support ticket at https://nicethemes.com/support/support-forum/new-topic/ – You will be able to share your site access details with our support staff so they can check your site configuration and if there’s any plugin that may be causing your site to take 16 seconds to load. Perhaps there are two different plugins trying to minify the scripts at the same time and that is causing a kind of loop.
But we’ll be able to check that once we enter and see your website configuration.

As a follow-up to the previous comment…Are you saying you EDITED vc to suit your them needs or you developed your theme to expand upon the existing vc plugin? We run a network installation, so of course can’t use a vc plugin that’s been modified.

Thanks for writing. No, we actually developed a tailored version of Page Builder. By saying this I mean that when VC is used in our theme, we have a special implementation in which we removed some of the modules they use that we considered were not well developed and thought we could do it better. We have more options in order to create better layouts.
So, the builder works the same way, but with our elements.
If you have the plugin in a network, it will only work differently in the sites using smart. We don’t touch any file from the plugin folder, we did all the implementation via hooks (actions and filters).

In the theme options, there are various shortcodes such as:
signup my_accountDo you have a list of all shortcodes somewhere? I am looking for one to place the social icons in the left side top bar.
Additionally, is it possible to increase the width of the site container from 1070px to 1320px for larger screen devices? A lot of theme control panels allow you to set a grids max width but i don’t see that option with your theme.
Edit – I have just found the full width version – that’s exactly what i wanted. So please ignore that and just answer the first question.

Great, so the full-width layout covers your doubt. Also, thanks for your feedback. We’re including the chance to expand the site container in the product roadmap.
Regarding the social icons on the top bar, that’s not included at this moment. We’re working in a snippet as we speak, so you can include them and probably add this new feature for the upcoming version. Please have in mind that you can include them in the header if you like.

By adding this code you will be able to add any social icon into your top bar.
all you need to do is put something like this:
[social_icon url="http://facebook.com/facebook" icon="fa-facebook"]
We use FontAwesome as our icon font, so you can take a look at what you need to put in the “icon” parameter on this page: http://fontawesome.io/icons/ – For the example, if you check the Facebook icon, you will see that the class is fa-facebook
Please have in mind that this is a quick snippet for your case, and we will be probably improving this function before putting it into the theme.

Thanks for writing. Yes, you can do a video on homepage. It can be done via the pagebuilder, you´ll need to use the mp4/ogv/webm file as the row background.
Regarding portfolio, yes, you can use video embedding for your portfolio. You’ll need to use an image for the portfolio grid, but the video can be viewed when the visitor views the portfolio project page.

I need a refund — I cannot change certain requirements this theme needs because of my current hosting package. I do not want to change my hosting package to accomade this theme. I wish the requirements were more clearly representated before purchase, because I was really happy finding this theme..now extremely disappointed.

The requirements to run the theme are the same requirements needed by WordPress. You don’t need any special requirement to run Smart.
The only special requirements, in terms of server configuration, are needed to run the demo importer. These requirements are the same you will find in any multi-purpose theme using a demo importer like Avada, Uncode or any other. They are there basically because demo importers include processes in which they import a lot of information (configuration files, images, options, contents, plugin installation/activation).
It’s a pity because you won’t be able to use any theme with a demo importer.

Smart theme is advanced but it is not user friendly. It comes with just like the demo but nothing works. You have to manually edit everything.

Hello, I’m looking for a theme that supports a membership system. We have about 200 members and we’ll need a login system along w/ a directory. The directory will need to be searchable by name, location and license plate#. I love the versatility of this theme, but i need to know if this is the right one.

Are you currently using WordPress? I guess the best way to manage members along with a directory would be a membership plugin. The theme itself doesn’t come with any special integration with any membership plugin, that’s why I am asking if you are currently using any. Perhaps if you already have your site working with a membership plugin we can test it and see if it works well.
