I am not author of event manager so it’s hard to help you. You should create topic on events manager support forum and make it working on default WP theme first.

It sounds like the images are uploading ok and in the right place.

You can only use the category placeholder under Events > Settings > Formatting > Events Categories. Just add #_CATEGORYIMAGE where you want the category image to show.

You used full width page template so there is no sidebar, use page template with sidebar.

You should create custom field (wp dashboard -> users -> profile fields) where member will select women/men then open wp-content/themes/cinematix/members/single/member-header.php and paste

bp_member_profile_data( 'field=Gender' );

after

item-header-content and now you have selector depends on gender. Generally it’s not an easy customisation.
