The issue you have is caused by the newest WordPress version 4.9. Please make sure to update the theme to 1.0.4 version.
The easiest way to update the theme is to rename the old theme as startup-company-old in your wp-content/themes folder. Then you will be able to upload the new theme startup-company.zip via the WordPress admin panel and activate it. You can also update the theme via FTP by copying all files from the unzipped startup-company folder to your existing wp-content/themes/startup-company folder, so that the new files will overwrite the old ones.
Please do not worry about the changes you have made through WordPress admin panel, they won’t be affected by the theme update. But in the case if you edited the theme files directly, I can recommend you to make the theme backup and to copy all changes to the new theme version.

I started using the theme but found out that it strips out all html that I use to format my posts. The tag “br”, “p” and others do not work and are stripped out, so all my post is just messed up. Tags like “div align=justify” just desappear and text appears unformatted.

The easiest way to make your site look like our demo one is to import demo content. The theme comes with a .xml file that allows you to import all the pages and posts like they are on the demo site. You can find this file in the Demo content folder you downloaded from the Themeforest.
Please note, that all the images are not included and are substituted with placeholders, as according to our license we can’t redistribute them. Please install the WordPress importer plugin, then proceed to the Tools-Import-WordPress, upload file and import. You’ll need to import the Content itself and the theme settings.
The sliders are imported separately, so you need to install the slider plugin and import the slider sample file. The theme comes with a demo slider content import file. After you import it, you will have the same slider as we have on our demo, except that the background images will be absent and you will need to add your own instead. Our license does not allow us add background images to the download package, but all the other slider elements and settings, including timings will be imported.
The theme documentation contains rather detailed instructions concerning the demo content import (you can find it at the DOCS folder you downloaded with the theme archive – please open index.html file in any browser)

I’m using the demo content as instructed (makes things SO much easier – thank you!) and I’ve created a section with four columns for video links. I’ve added YouTube links and created thumbnails for visitors to click on – however, they’re not showing on the page, even after updating and hard refreshing. They’re under the slider on https://wp.epactnetwork.com/.
I’ve been through the settings on the section and the shortcode but can’t seem to see what I might be missing.
Any help is appreciated!

We currently have a WordPress blog on another site that I would like to import into our new one. I used the standard WP Importer to download a subset of posts from the existing blog (to test) and then imported it into our new site. However, the posts are not showing. Is this the right way to export/import content or should I use something else?

Concerning one-page menu – to create one page site please first of all add your content within CMSMasters Content Composer and settle id titles to those sections, that you’d like to have “anchors”. And then use the title names in menu items in such format. Hope it will be helpful.

I would like to turn off all the comments for our blog posts (existing and future). I’d also like to do the same for our profiles – strangely some have the commenting option included, while others don’t (checked the category settings to make sure I hadn’t missed anything). Is there a way to do that from the general settings?
Finally, how do I remove the Likes from the profile pages?

To turn off the ‘Leave a Reply’ section on your page/post/project or profile please proceed to the admin panel and scroll to the bottom of a page to the Discussion section and unmark the checkboxes.
In a case you can’t find these checkboxes please proceed to the screen options and make sure that here the discussion field is turned on.

You can remove the comments from all pages/posts by proceeding All pages/posts/profiles -> choose pages where you need to remove comments -> choose Bulk Actions “Edit” -> and in Comments choose “Do not allow” -> Update. Please see the screenshot.
To remove the Likes from the profile pages please proceed to Theme Settings – Single Posts – Profile and uncheck the Profile Likes.

We are now live with our website, and everyone loves it!
We imported our previous Wordpress blog into the new site, and while I set up the post URLs themselves to have a specific format, any links embedded in posts are still showing our test/set up domain (wp.epactnetwork.com vs www.epactnetwork.com). Is there a way to change the base URL to swap those automatically to the current domain vs doing this manually in every single post (we have over 400 of them so I’d rather not have to do that 
)?

I forgot to thank you for that information before – as our website is now live, I don’t think that we will be able to use the database to auto-fix those URLs, so I’ll have to do them manually as I get to them!
A new question for you – when we use the search function on the website, the search results page has a header image that I would like to replace (it’s currently demo content). However, I can’t find where to make that change – there’s no page named “Search” so I was wondering if you could direct me where to change that.

We have a button at the top of our home page (https://www.epactnetwork.com/) and I would like to add another next to it. I was wondering if it is possible to change the button colour so it’s orange (same style as existing blue button).
Can that be done within the HTML code for the button itself? I’d like to be able to have two different buttons so prefer to avoid changing it at the styling/root level if possible!

I’m having a lot of trouble installing this theme. whenever I try to modify the htaccess file I get a 500 server error so I made a .user.ini file instead but the demo content will still not come through right. I get ‘Menu item skipped due to invalid menu slug: main-menu’ whenever I try to import content. This has been very frustrating, could really use some help.
