@edentheme

Just checked ur link and I can see u still havent managed to get it working. see if this is a bit clearer on what u need to do….

- on the wordpress dashboard, go to post > categories. - create a category called front page & save it - go back to dashboard and go to post > add new post - call it pic1 (for time being) and on the right hand side there should be a box of catagories – put a tick in the one u created earlier called ‘front page’. - click upload/insert image – find the image either on ur computer or if its already in media library select that tab. the pic size needs to be – 850×474px (need to resize in photoshop) - B4 U GO OFF THAT POP UP SCREEN … highlight the ‘link url’ which is a bit further down on the page and click ctrl & c to copy. - x this overlay box (to go off the box without saving the photo in it). - now move down on the page that is behind and find the box called ‘image url’ and click ctrl & v to past the link in there - now go to publish - repeat this from ‘add new post’ for pic2, 3 & 4 etc

Back to the dashboard…. - click ‘echoes’ - click ‘featured categories’ - select “enable”, then “kwicks slides” - the next box – select the category u just created called “front page” - click ‘save changes’ at the top of the box refresh ur website and it should work! You can change the name of ‘pic1’ to whatever u want once u have got it all working any queries email me daisyphotography@hotmail.co.uk. melanie

“Does anyone know how to remove the directional arrows from the home page slideshow?” I’ve posted this question and emailed the developer directly and never received a reply??

Hi,

If the featured slideshow is the ‘Slider Scroll’

Edit /css/slider.css

Add the following code to the end of file

a.next, a.previous { display:none; }

Thanks

Ah…much appreciated!

Hello? i’m waiting for you response, please, i need it! :(

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

The site background can be changed by editing style.css

body background property. Line 47

Thanks

@melaniew2000

Just tried your instructions, but found that I don’t actually have an option to select Accordion, which could be why it’s not working :\

Still waiting for Imaginem to visit and help us out!

Hi,

Could you let me know the url to check on the problem.

Theme options can be found in wp-admin. It’s below the Comments tab named ‘Echoes’ with an icon on the right side of it. You’ll be able to change the featured style from the ‘Featured Categories’ panel in theme options.

Could you make sure it isn’t in that case i’d like to request login info to check on it.

Thanks

Hi,

The url is http://www.eden-ne.co.uk/wordpress

I have three options in Featured Categories: kwicks slides, slider scroll and jqfancy slides. I guess it’s Kwicks slides that I need, but I’m getting black boxes.

Wonderful, thanks for getting back on this. I’ll email you the login details in case you need them.

Thanks again.

@melaniew2000

Thanks for you help and support and good to know you’ve solved the photo issue. I’ll give your instructions a go. Fingers crossed, but I think I went through these instructions previously. Thanks again.

Hi! Please, i need to know how to set white as the background color. I’m talking about the grey zone ^^ Thanks!

Hi,

Please provide a link , i can provide an accurate solution.

Thanks

Hi, I have a problem with scaped (\’) simple quotes at the main page (Section C ) Do you know if this a known problem, I could,t find it at other comments. Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, disabling the magicquotes extension from your server will solve this. The PHP extension isn’t recommended , used for accidental quote injecting to the database. These don’t happen in WordPress. It can be disabled from the web host control panel or by requesting from the host.

Thanks

Due to no response from the author of the template i have figured out how to get the 4 main photos on the accordion option of the homepage : instructions are - Stage 1 - 1.Goto WP ADMIN > POST > ADD NEW 2.Fill the TITLE and CONTENTS 3.Upload your IMAGE 4.Copy the url in the FILE URL bar and ‘x’ that box 5.Paste it in the Image URL field in the Echoes post options in the Post page 6.Tick the Featured Category. 7.PUBLISH!

then…...

Stage 2 – Displaying the Featured Slides 1.Login to your WP-admin and 2.Goto Echoes Options and click ‘Featured Categories’ tab 3.select the ‘accordion’ option 4.select the category for the 4 x photos in stage 1

hope that helps someone!

melanie

Hi Melanie,

Sorry for the delay.

I checked your site and saw that one of the plugins or a custom code is loading the jquery library which the theme is already loading. The version the extra is loading is a previous version too.

There’s also the nexgen plugin code which is getting injected with slashes where the quotes are. Possibly this is due to your server having the magicquotes extension – the extension is not recommended and won’t be supported by future versions of PHP .

Could you check with this from your webhost. It can be disabled.

These conflicts are causing the scripts not to work.

You can check by disabling all plugins and reactivating them back one by one to see which one is causing it. There’s also some codes from the plugins rendered to the page which should be running in the background.

Thanks

@edentheme

i saw ur post re same problem as me. due to not getting a response on here i have started to trawl through from the start the 1000+ posts to search for some answers to my problems! some earlier posts seem to be suggesting that the plugins contact form 7 and WP E -commerce might be affecting the slides on the accordion. I have tried de-activating them but still cant see the photos. will continue looking for some answers and post them on here if i find them! hopefully the author will respond to us soon.

Ok, dumb question. Does this work on mobile devices?

Hi, I’m still hoping for an answer to my previous post: “Hi, I can’t seem to get my echoes theme to play nice with the WP e-commerce plugin. Whenever I activate the plugin I lose the home page image slider, and dropdown items from the menu. Any help would be appreciated.”

I’d also like to know how I can change the thumbnails to go to the post when you click on them, instead of going to a larger image of the thumbnail.

I’m having the same problem as Melaniew2000. The theme is great, but I can’t get the four images on the front page to work at all! I just get black boxes.

Any help would be most appreciated, thanks.

I’m linking the button on the homepage to a PDF and would like it to open in a new tab, can you let me know where to modify the code to make this work?

I think I found it. After Googling I searched for the_excerpt() and found one in the post-summary.php file. I changed the call to the_content() and it seems to be displaying fine. I may not be able to selectively put a “more” break in the post, but I can work around that.

I haven’t seen this discussed in the previous posts. I’m currently running a wordpress blog and I would like my new site’s blog (this template) to have a similar format.

In my current blog I can choose to show all of the blog post or divide it up / breaking it up if it’s too long. With the blog in the Echoes theme it looks like every post is abbreviated in the normal view and you have to click on the post in the list view to see the entire entry.

Here is the new Echoes blog that I have set up http://mcknightvideo.com/newwordpresssite/?cat=12 And here is the legacy site, which is how I want Echoes to look, if possible (I want the full post displayed at all times unless I choose to put a break in the post). http://mcknightvideo.com/blog/

thank you!! David

posted a comment above, also please can you advise 1) where i change the links to the menu option in the top right hand corner and 2) how I create drop down menus too! thanks melanie http://daisyeventphotography.co.uk/wordpress/

“Does anyone know how to remove the directional arrows from the home page slideshow?”

I’ve posted this question and emailed the developer directly and never received a reply??

Hi,

please fix the header.php so that we can use the background colors again:

Change line 153

from:

< body >

to:

<body <?php body_class(’’); ?>>

Otherwise you can’t say:

ECHOES THEME IS WORDPRESS 3 .3 “SONNY” READY !

Btw, what means sonny? ;)

Thanks

im loving the template and have worked out most things on it – but i cant seem to find where to put the 4 big photos i want that are displayed on the kwicks slide at the top of the homepage?

http://daisyeventphotography.co.uk/wordpress/

As other people have said it would be good to have a seatch option on here as i have looked through a few pages of posts but havent found the answer. although i have found out how to adjust the no of slides and positing of the writing which might come in use :-) thanks melanie
