Hi AJ,.

When using your “Search Bar” module, it shows all the results in one page. Is it possible to have an “posts per page” option ? With a pagination, just like the default search page ? Thannnnks

The search bar module goes directly to the default search results page (it’s actually just the core WordPress search form, it’s not custom just has some styling), so I’m not quite sure what you mean. Can you share the url so I can see?

- AJ

Sure, I sent you a message in your support page, as my url is private.

What are the new additions or changes in the latest update ?

Hi,

The changelog can always be located here: http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/changelog/

can you please tell how to update my theme without losing and content using managed wp godaddy

When you update the theme it only replaces the theme files so you will never lose content (of course having a backup of your site is always a good idea – I generally recommend doing daily backups of the database and most WordPress hosting companies actually do this by default).

Here are the links to the documentation for updating the theme, bundled plugins and the changelog:

Pre-sale Question:

I want to create a social network site with front end user login that has a pinterest or wall style layout. I see that you have the Mason layout, which looks good. Would I be able to add likes/upvotes to the posts showing on the homepage?

I would need to use plugins like, Buddypress, UserPro or Zombify to create a full member interactive site with follow/unfollow, likes/upvotes, comments, message, etc. Will these plugins work with your theme?

Thank you.

Oh, and if you need help inserting custom code from your plugins or modifying a file to better support the plugin this we can assist with.

Thanks for such quick response….yes, I was meaning assistance with telling what code to add and where for simple tweaks.

Yep, simple tweaks is perfectly fine ;)

Hello Author WPExplorer, I knew his portfolio and the Total – Responsive Multi-Purpose WordPress Theme was the one that caught my attention by coming close to the project I’m looking for. I would check if you can help me:

I’m looking for a platform that manages a website counter in WordPress, with hundreds of templates ready and personalized by the user.

The Platform should be a Control Panel for thousands of sites. If I can help or develop this project I have an interest in talking. Thank you for your attention.

AJ when I commented the Wix was to understand only the concept. The same goes for TOTAL, we do not need to use this theme specifically.

we can think of new project: I want a Multisite with access for multiple users. In this Multisite there must be a Plug and Play, Frontend Drag & Drop Builder SITE BUILDER and user-friendly environment. It is possible?

This comment section is exclusively for Total related questions. If you want help creating a multi-site wix-type network website, this is something I could assist with at $700/hour. If you want to discuss further please message us on twitter @WPExplorer

Hi AJ. I manage two sites using this theme. I recently updated one to V 4.4.1 and when I did the background color reverted to gray instead of #016f54. See http://praa.net/. When I check the customizer options the correct hex code is there, but it’s not rendering. I’ve tried resetting the cache and changing the color, but it doesn’t correct itself. Is this a known bug with the update? I don’t want to update the second site until this issue is resolved. Thanks!

Hi,

This is a known bug with the Boxed layout only. I am releasing the update today with the fix. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello AJ, didn’t use Support for the period of six months. Latest update brought some trouble for my site https://gauravtiwari.org . A jquery file loads in Google Chrome Console from http://185.14.28.10/lib/jquery-3.2.1.min.js?v=3.2.11 which leads to insecure content warning. Can you please help me fix it?

Hi,

No problem, you can ALWAYS ask questions in the comments. Support license is primarily for private tickets ;)

Regarding the issue, this file is being loaded by the following code: https://cl.ly/nW5S – which is definitely not added by the theme. It’s either coming from a plugin or from custom code added to the site either via a child theme or the Theme Actions panel. Can you please double check?

- AJ

Hi, Thank you for your reply. Some plugin had added this code in footer.php. :) Removed and all back to normal.

Great! I’m glad it was an easy fix ;)

Sticky Mobile menu, is there this option, was trying to find it.. maybe I missed this option but so far I do not see it. Any help greatly appreciated….

I found it..haha sorry.. great theme

Hi AJ, this is a general comment regarding issues I’ve experienced when uploading dozens of images (40-60) using the Total Masonry Media Grid, Media Grid, or even a 3rd party Media Grid from a guy named Sike. They all seem to take a long to time upload with a lot of errors.

Months ago you guided me towards better managed WordPress hosting companies like Flywheel and Cloudways and after a year of experimenting between the two, it seems that Flywheel never give me problems issues with any media grid however, Cloudways seems to have issues that they cannot resolve.

One of the main problems is when I upload 20 or 40 images, the spinning icon spins about twice, then disappears. Sometimes if I wait long enough (2-3 minutes), the images will eventually load but all of the images will have a red X next to them, as if they didn’t load (but they did load). Other times, I may get a error establishing a database connection and I’ll have to sign back in. Having Cloudways adjust that timeout in htaccess or similar does not help.

I’m posting this public with the hopes to see if anyone else who may be hosting hosting with Cloudways is having the same issue. I’ve been full circle with this… extending connection time, htaccess, etc.; I have fast Verizon 50mbps uploads, but it always comes back to the same thing… the Media Grid works flawlessly with Flywheels hosting, but not so well with Cloudways (and I like Cloudways because I can host 4-5 WordPress sites for about $18.00 a month!).

The last thing I’m going to try is purchase a 3rd party NexGEN plugin from imagely.com to see if that will help streamline and/or remove the problem.

As always, I love your theme and have bought a total of 4, so I trust your product. I just think this issue lies somewhere within Cloudways hosting, and that’s a bummer!

Sorry, I just realized something…I read CloudFlare in your last comment, but you said Cloudways. Sorry I’m so tired trying to finish up the update today.

So the issue with Cloudways is probably that you need to do the following:

- Increase max execution time on your server - Increase post max size on the server - Increase memory limit on the server

Or you need to increase your server’s resources and you can probably contact them to ask what sort of requirements your server needs. They should be able to look at your errors logs to see when you were getting errors and provide some feedback in that regards.

Again sorry for my misunderstanding. I removed my initial response.

Additionally, I think a good solution for you if you are uploading so many images is to check out the Real Media Library plugin – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/real-media-library-integration/ – this way you can organize your photos in the WP library and then the modules on the front-end don’t require uploading images but simply selecting a category to display.

This plugin may not fix issues with uploading tons of images if you have problems also with the main WordPress media upload page…but it will really streamline the way your site works making it easier to manage.

Hi A.J, I had to setup a Page-Title bottom margin since my WoCommerce page content was sticking to the menu, however, this also causes all other pages to have a white-gap between the menu and body.

Can you plz advise how to fix this?

Setting in Customizer : http://prntscr.com/h64dmf Woocommerce Page with margin setting on 0 : http://prntscr.com/h64elx Wocommerce Page : http://prntscr.com/h64dvk Regular Page Gap below title : http://prntscr.com/h64db3

Hi,

The margin should be applied to the page title on all pages, it would be impossible for the theme to magically know what pages you don’t want to have a space between the title and the content. So on any page where you want to remove the margin under the page title you would use the page settings to disable the bottom margin on that page specifically – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/page-settings-metabox/ (the option is under the title tab).

It’s impossible to know what the loading issue is without looking at the live URL (can you share it). But my guess is you probably used a plugin to move your scripts to the bottom of the site, so your site is loading before the stylesheet.

- AJ

Hi, The issue with the margin has been addresses – thank you!

For the second issue, the live URL is https://www.burhani.co/

Hi,

You are using some sort of plugin that is changing the way the site loads the scripts so your content is rendering before your stylesheet as I mentioned previously. Did you already try disabling plugins to check (most likely it’s a setting in the caching plugin you are using).

- AJ

hi AJ it’s me again i plan to use gravity forms instead of contact form 7 will the plugin work or not?

Hi,

Yes. And I love Gravity Forms – it’s a really great plugin and highly recommend it.

- AJ

Hi, I’m using Masonry Media Grid and the images slide in from the left upon page loading. I have chosen “None” in WPB Page Builder > Masonry Media Grid Settings but I must not have found the right location for this behavior.

Where can I set behavior to None? (I’ve looked everywhere – except in the right place :) )

The page is https://jaysnively.art/abstracts/

Hi,

Thank you for your patience over the weekend. This animation is actually just a core part of the Masonry Media Grid VC module.

I would recommend actually using the Total “Image Grid” module which also supports masonry – https://cl.ly/nWTS – but gives you way more options and doesn’t have this loading affect (my module uses the same masonry style but without the loading affect).

Also with the Total Image Grid if you want you can manage your images with the post/page gallery which some customers prefer as it’s quicker then opening the module – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/using-post-gallery-image-galleries/

Plus, if you are planning on adding tons of images in the future you may want to even consider this – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/real-media-library-integration/ – which is something a lot of customers creating photography sites like to use.

Hi AJ. I’m encountering a problem and hope you can give an easy solution. I want to have a sticky header / clickable menu as is available through the customizer. Just below it on all pages, I want a fixed header that also has clickablity but scrolls with the page (is not sticky).

I tried using the header builder for the fixed header but when i engage it my menu disappears.

I now have linked the header page template in the top bar in customizer instead and I’m now getting what I want except that the top bar (as the name suggests) is above the menu.

Is there an easy way to drop the top bar below the header menu?

Alternatively. is there a way to keep the customizer header active along with the theme panel header builder?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Ok I see you have your header menu set to sticky – https://cl.ly/nXEt

But you want another one right under this one? Can you please confirm – thanks!

Since you don’t have so many links in this menu why not just add more links to it rather then adding a whole new section which just takes up more real estate above the fold?

- AJ

Hi AJ. Thanks again.

Here is what I am shooting for: http://www.itsabeautifulglass.com/demo-home/

I want the header you have an arrow pointing to stay sticky and I want what you had seen “above the fold” to actually be “below the fold” and not sticky on every page.

Whether it takes up as much real estate as it does at the moment or not, I would like the rainbowy banner thingy to be a default on all my pages unless I tell it otherwise! haha. Does that make sense?

Cheers

Hi,

Oh…I think I understand now. You want this full section – https://cl.ly/nYlq – to be added to every page automatically so you don’t have to do so manually. Correct?

If so…it’s not very hard but does take a little bit of code using theme hooks – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs/action-hooks/. But no problem, because I will give you the code below.

  • Then make sure you installed the Templatera plugin on your site which comes bundled with Total. If you didn’t go to Appearance > Install Plugins to do so.
  • Next add a new template under Visual Composer > Templates with this section (you can edit a page where you already have this in “classic” mode so you can copy and paste it into your template like this – https://cl.ly/nXfX – copy what you need and then do the same to paste it in text mode in your newly added template, this way you don’t have to re do it all). And publish your template

Note, that my Visual Composer looks a bit different because my theme is updated – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/changelog/ – I see you are still on 4.4.1 – http://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/docs-category/updates/

So your code would look like this: https://goo.gl/DmUnLP – which you want to copy and paste into your newly added child theme in the functions.php file.

Then simply change where it says 170 to be equal to the ID of your created template which can be found in the URL when you edit the template – https://wpexplorer-themes.com/total/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/03/templatera-post-id.png

Then you should have the content you added to your template displayed under your header on every single page.

If you have any issues or questions let me know. Hopefully my instructions are pretty straight forward.

- AJ

Hello,

Great theme by the way, I updated the theme and I got something that I don’t know what is.. is a text on the left corner saying skip to main content please check this screenshot https://cl.ly/nVXO

I dont have any other plugin WP Bakery Page Builder, Revolution slider and Yoast SEO

Any idea how to turn this off?

Thanks

Hi there,

This is for accessibility for screen readers. It should be hidden if you see it, it’s because your site is still loading old scripts. Make sure to clear your caching plugins to prevent this issue (these issues normally happen if you’ve removed script versioning from the css/js files or if you are using some sort of minifying plugin so you have to clear the cache after each update).

- AJ

Hi AJ, I followed your instructions in the email but I still can’t figure out why my sidebar has migrated below my content. On desktop it should be on the right side but it is below. On mobile it usually shows below and that’s fine. But for desktop it’s changed. These are my settings in the customizer:

Main Container Width: 1100px Content Width: 69% Sidebar Width: 26%

I also have right side bar as the chosen layout. I did notice that my sidebar went under the content after I published this post :http://katherinewandell.com/dont-celebrate-halloween/

I looked to see if I left a open when I hid a image, but I didn’t see anything. I haven’t downloaded any new plug-ins or anything. Appreciate your help

Hi there,

Your width’s for desktop size are fine it’s the smaller size that’s off “Medium Screens Widths” (960-1280) where both the content and sidebar have been set to 90% – https://cl.ly/nUwchttps://cl.ly/nVhB

Hi AJ, do you suggest to update woocommerce and visual composer separately or these updates will be yet included in the new Total version?

Thank you very much,

Bob

Hi Bob,

I was planning the update yesterday but got sick :( There shouldn’t be any issues updating WooCommerce because nothing that would affect the theme was changed (I’ve already updated the live demos).

Visual Composer will be updated with the theme. I just finished adding a license verification to the theme for auto updates so you won’t have to use the Envato plugin anymore ;)https://cl.ly/nVYf

So now I’m just responding to any pending questions so I can then upload the latest version live, test it and release it.

- AJ

Thank you very much for your help AJ, I hope you feel better now!

Hi, I have issue with menu working and content loading on some mobile browsers. Works fine on responsive screen on desktop. But on mobile loads properly only in chrome. On other browsers menu does not toggle and the remaining content is not loaded. PLEASE HELP

Can you share the URL so I can have a look and see what’s going on?

When you say “some mobile browsers” can you let me know which one specifically so I can test accordingly? Thanks!

- AJ

Hi, it doesn’t work on Safari and IE. Works fine in chrome. Website is http://www.thomasbbonnett.co.uk/. Please let me know if you need anything else from me.

Thanks for the link. This is actually a known bug in your version, all you need to do is update the theme, clear your cache and it should fix it up.

If you have any issues with that, let me know!

- AJ

Hi there,

Line 23 of framework/wp-filters/pre-get-posts.php also covers searches in the backend. You should use the following check rather:

if ( is_search() && ! is_admin() ) {

This should have been fixed in a recent update. Make sure your theme is up to date:

Hi AJ –
I’m in the middle of reworking a site. I’m working with sidebars for the first time and I looked through your support documents but I haven’t found what I’m looking for.

What I would like to do is have control over the formatting of the widget. Basically, I’ve added a custom menu widget and found that it automatically has black line borders around everything. I would like to remove those. How can I control that area?

I have also set the Page Header Title to Hidden, put a background image in the header area (as you can see). I’d like to add some space between that and the content of the page – header Bottles and the side bar. What is the best way to do that? Changing the value in the Page Header Title hidden areas in the customizer doesn’t seem to affect that.

http://506.29f.myftpupload.com/bottles/

Thank you!

hi AJ –

Thanks for your patience. There is no bottom margin when page header title is set to hidden style.. unless I’m really missing something – I set the space to 150px, saved it. But it doesn’t seem to matter:

http://506.29f.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/pageheader-space.jpg

Oh…sorry, ok I understand now. You have the page title disabled across the site but on some of them you are using it for the image.

Simply set the page header style to default or another style, then you can adjust the bottom margin and then set it back to hidden ;) I’m going to update things so the options aren’t hidden when you select the hidden page title style since it is possible to enable the page title conditionally. Thanks for the heads up on this issue!

- AJ

Cheers AJ – that worked perfectly. Cool – good to be useful.
Thanks!
J

Hi AJ, I would like to have a video background on the full screen row of my homepage. The you tube hosted video background option in row settings is not working. The self hosted option works, but the video is so large that it takes forever to load. I would rather host it on You Tube. Is there something I’m missing? It seems like that option should work. Thanks! www.robwrubel.com

Usually if the Youtube video won’t work it’s because the video is either set to private or has sharing disabled. can you let me know what is the youtube video URL so I can check?

Another good alternative is if the video isn’t too large to turn it into a gif and set it as the row background, in some cases this can be way more efficient.

- AJ

ps: The site looks really nice, good work!

Hi, thanks for your response! I’m intrigued with the gif idea and will look into that. In the meantime, I’ve decided to host the vid natively, but I’m now having issues with Safari.

It’s an mp4 set in the VIDEO section of the ROW SETTINGS. I optimized and encoded it so it’s fast-loading and it works great on Chrome, Firefox and IE. But it defaults to the background image on Safari…with a repeat even though that background image is set to cover. If I refresh or click around the site, the videop starts to play.

Any idea why this is happening in Safari? www.robwrubel.com Thanks! Tiffany

Hi Tiffany,

Safari is showing the video correctly for me (can you try clearing your safari cache?). What you are seeing when you see the image is actually the “poster” value set for the video – https://cl.ly/naPw

I don’t know why I even added that, since if the video doesn’t play it should just show the row background. I’ll remove that in the upcoming 4.5.1 update ;)
