WP 4.9 and Avada 5.2.3

Hello Everyone!

If you have updated to WordPress 4.9 (often times your host will auto update you) you need to also update to Avada 5.2.3 for it to be compatible.

Also, please apply the Fusion Patches. If that is done all will be working.

If you have any questions, submit a support ticket and our team will gladly help. https://theme-fusion.com/avada-doc/getting-started/avada-theme-support/

Thanks

I got multiple Avada websites. And just today, something crazy started happening. Half of my theme options get reset every 15min. I literally changed them 20times and they still revert back. ??? Footer, typography page title …. these ones. Help please

Hi there

That does sound rather strange, to say the least. What I do know is the theme itself cannot autonomously change it’s own settings so something else is at play here. Is your host running some form of server side cache?

Hello is possible to somehow put in my own PHP, JS code inside particular pages?

Hello @NashAnder

You can put the JS / HTML or CSS code inside our Code Block element however to put the PHP code inside the pages you will have to some 3rd party plugin that provide option to embed the PHP code into the post types.

Thanks

I want to filter my blog posts under some special conditions. actually i wanna choose my post between my categories under “and” operator. for example i want to show the posts that are in “x” category and “Y” category. which means if a post doesn’t exist in any of these categories, it shouldn’t show. Can i set this on your theme, and how? tnx

Hello @Zsarir

Yes! without a doubt you can do that with our theme using the category filter field in our Blog Element as you can see here in this screenshot => http://prntscr.com/hbq1hy

Hi, After updating to avada 5.2.3 I have a problem with the sticky header, basically the header goes up and then comes back. the same problem as in your demo page: http://demo.theme-fusion.com/ How can I solve the problem ?

Hi there

To add here, this is a video of what we are seeing -> http://d.pr/v/bcAOVD

Thank you, MB

Lastly, we can assure that no sticky header code or anything dealing with it was touched in the last updates.

I installed a backup prior to the update and in fact the problem was already present. I tried with other PCs, installed several browsers on smartphones and the header jumping problem persists, on pc with Firefox and edge the problem persists, with chrome is ok. the problem arises not only with my site but also with your demo websites. I reset cache without fixing. you can suggest a solution ?

I am having similar problems as others. Best seen here http://prntscr.com/hbo4a2 which shows the Avada options. Having read through every recent post, I have updated everything and cleared the cache (now disabled) and still it is the same. To confirm, latest WP 4.9, Latest Avada 5.2.3 all patches complete, cache cleared, logged out and back in, set to English, and still no different. Any further help appreciated.

Sorry for the duplicate replies, two people were replying at the same time.

That issue should not show in Chrome, so it would be best to open a ticket for that with us so we can check it out.

Thanks!

UPDATE.

I stepped through another site this morning and have found more information. It seems the problems I am seeing stem from the WP update 4.9. When sites are updated you can no longer update some elements of the theme e.g. https://prnt.sc/hbo4a2 , but updating Avada clears this problem.

I have 21 sites on Avada and so will urgently update these today.

Thanks

Yes that is correct, Avada 5.2.3 is needed for WP 49

Let us know if you need anything, you can submit a ticket on our site and our team will help you out :) https://theme-fusion.com/avada-doc/getting-started/avada-theme-support/

Is it safe to upgrade WP 4.9? Is there an update for the new version?

Hello!

Yes as long as you also update to the latest Avada, which is 5.2.3

However, please take note of actual WP 4.9 bugs that are for Wordpress itself, not theme related. The most significant is this one: https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/42574. WordPress is working on 4.9.1 now and will release it with bug fixes.

However, everything with Avada is perfectly fine with WP 4.9, they just happen to have a few bugs themselves.

Thanks!

Hello, why LAyer Slider WP is asking me for an activation? How can I activate it? Thanks

Hi there

Allow us to explain to you in detail how bundled plugins work, in regard to theme included plugins, it is not unique to Avada and applies to any theme that includes a plugin:

- The theme purchase includes the Layer and Revolution Slider plugins, at no extra cost

- As of right now, Avada 5.2.3 is the latest version of the theme. The latest version of the Layer Slider plugin is version 6.5.5 and Revolution Slider is version 5.4.6.3

- Because it is plugin territory, the respective plugin authors include a global update call for the plugins and it does not apply to theme included plugins -> http://d.pr/i/C4PWvO

- The next release of Avada will be version 5.3 which will in turn include the latest next version of the Layer and Revolution Slider plugins available at that time

- You can safely ignore/dismiss the plugin authors update notice and it will not affect your site in any way

- Here are the terms for bundled plugins as set out by the Envato marketplace -> http://bit.ly/2yQ3U82

Hello !

Before buying this theme, I have a question concerning the licensing. I need to make a showcase website for my company (a b2b software company). Do I need to buy a regular or extended licence ?

For the multilingual, we use subdomain such as fr.website.com. Do I need to buy multiple licence one for each subdomain or 1 licence is ok ?

Thanks for your response,

Hello @XiaWeiBo

A Regular license will be sufficient in first case however for the second one it depends on the content inside the site if its just another language one license is fine however you have to purchase/own a license for each publicly accessible domain install of the theme. Regardless of whether the installation domain is a sub domain or not, if it is publicly accessible, it requires a license.

If you are migrating to a different domain and you already have your product registered with your original purchase code etc, you do not need to purchase a new license; You can simply add your registered purchase information to the new installation’s product registration tab.

For more information please check the Envato regular license definitions here -> http://themeforest.net/licenses/terms/regular

Thanks

Dear avada team,

Avada 5.3 and WP 4.9 update roll out on the same day -> crashed my avada backed on pages. The fusion builder does not “convert” the pages. All I see is an empty builder on the backend, but the pages look normal on the frontend. I followed your updates instructions without sucess.

The result was that 300 pages were not converted and are unable to be edited on the backend. The builder was always empty on all pages in the backend. God bless im using daily backups.

I rolled all back on Avada 5.2.2 and WP 4.8.3. Wating for further updates that might not crash my backend.

Anyone had the same problems???

Hello @topmod

I am afraid there is some misunderstanding as there is no conversion required from 5.2.2 to 5.2.3 as the conversion is only required from 4.x to 5.x and if you are having some issues it might be related to a WordPress bug that is due to language file names as i mentioned above so make sure that you are naming the language files properly.

“MediaElement upgrade causing JS errors when certain languages are in use e.g de_DE-formal”

The issue applies to any language file in this format -> de_DE-formal – to resolve this please change the WordPress Core to regular format -> de_DE

However if the issue persist please do open a support ticket with us and our team will gladly look into your issue.

Hello. I have 21 sites running Avada. I started updating the sites today and of those I updated there is a LayerSlider message displayed at the top of the site.

“Premium features is available for preview purposes only. We’ve detected that you’re using premium features in this slider, but you have not yet activated your copy of LayerSlider. Premium features in your sliders will not be available for your visitors without activation. Click here to learn more. Detected features: Blend mode

Only you and other administrators can see this to take appropriate actions if necessary.”

The last sentence indicates this is not a public statement, but it is showing to all.

It seems that LayerSlider was updated as part of the Avada update and is now showing this message. For some sites we have the premium licence and for one I tested I re-applied the licence but it made no difference.

Is this something that can be fixed? I don’t want to have to buy another 18 Layer Licences. To do this would make updating Avada an expensive option.

Hello @Markmck

LayerSlider is actually not our own plugin and that notification you mentioned is also coming from their side, since you have a premium license i will suggest opening a support ticket with their team in this regard and ask them if they can provide any script or CSS to disable that notification? they will be able to provide you with a better workaround on this.

If you need anything else please do open a support ticket and our team will check them out for you right away.

Does anyone else have problems with the Avada Theme Settings -> WooCommerce Stylings on Avada 5.2.3 and Wordpress 4.9? It’s one giant color picker for me and I can’t set any specific settings on that page.

Same problem here, Fusion Builder seems broken after upgrading to 4.9. My installation is pretty much vanilla, no other plugins active other than the ones that comes with Avada

Just a suggestion – with over 370,000 sold, would think that some additional mobile menu capabilities would be able to be done in theme options. Without CSS coding, the mobile menu height and mobile sticky height is basically the same as the regular header which is usually a bit too large for mobile so a bit surprised that still can’t be done in Avada without CSS. Just a suggestion that has really been a pain with every Avada site I have built.

Yes I know about those options. It’s mainly the “height” of the mobile menu and sticky menu in mobile that is a major problem. What good does it offer me to have a mobile menu logo that may be small but have a mobile menu that is large in height that’s the same as a desktop version. So I use CSS of course to get the right height for mobile. We can even change the dropdown menu height for mobile but not of the actual header/menu itself in mobile. Just think it would be a nice option that I have seen others ask how to do throughout the last several years of Avada.

This is not an issue in the theme, nor something that needs added. Everything is already there and is simply a matter of configuration and using the correct units for what you are trying to achieve. Those things can be adjusted with the header padding options that were mentioned :)

The issue is you are probably using “px” instead of a ”%” value. When you use pixels, it stays the same from desktop to mobile, so yes using a smaller logo on mobile than desktop will produce that.

This is why we have options that take ALL units, as in the description says: Header Padding Controls the top/right/bottom/left padding for the header. Enter values including any valid CSS unit, ex: 0px, 0px, 0px, 0px.

So simply change your value to % and find the correct % value, it will take some adjusting to see exactly where you like it.

Example: http://d.pr/i/3CG6dg

So again to clarify, nothing needs added to achieve what you want to achieve, the options we mentioned do exactly that. Please use % when needed in cases like this instead of pixels, we’d also suggest looking at all CSS units available because often times you do need to use various ones: https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css_units.asp

This is why we make our options accept all of them. Not only does it cut down on the options that need added (for example there is no reason to add a new option for “mobile menu height” when you can simply use % which adapts best from desktop to mobile), it provides the greatest flexibility.

If you have questions about things like this, the best thing to do is to contact our support team and show us an example. There is so much that can be done with Avada, nearly endless things. Often times, it is simply a matter of knowing what to do.

I upgraded to 4.9 and was met with the same problem as other users have described. I updated 5.2.2 -> 5.2.3 and cleared cache. Everything works. Thanks!
