Hi There,
I love this theme. I’m using the Creative Agency version. I have a question though:
I am trying to make two items in my menu automatically open in a new tab. Is there a way to do this? – I don’t see it in any of the menu options.
Thank you! Jaclyn
It is included in WordPress menu options, see more details on how to enable it here: https://www.megamenu.com/documentation/how-to-open-menu-links-in-a-new-tab-or-window/
Hi again. I’m having three issues with setting up my website atm:
1. The text in the desktop hamburger navigation is black when active. Is there a way to change it to a color that doesn’t blend in with the background color?
2. The mobile hamburger navigation is white background, white text when inactive, and the font is different from the desktop version. Is there a way to match the styling to what it looks like in desktop? Or at least, change the font color to something that’s not also white?
3. Is there a way to make all the headings in all-caps? I tried adding text-transform properties to h1-h6, but there seems to be something overriding it.
Website for reference: thetravelsketch.com
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
Thank you for your questions and site URL.
1. If you set the Header Background in Theme Options -> Navigation to “Light”. The color of the Fullscreen Menu will be black when active and hovering. There are 2 ways to change it to other colors:
1) Change the Header Background in Theme Options -> Navigation to “Dark” so it will be the same color of the theme color scheme you selected in Theme Options -> General.
2) Add custom CSS below to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS:
.w-light #full-nav .vertical-menu .back-to-parent:hover span, .w-light #full-nav .vertical-menu li:hover > a, .w-light #full-nav .vertical-menu .current-menu-ancestor > a, .w-light #full-nav .vertical-menu .current-menu-item > a, #fullscreen-nav.w-light .social-icons > li:hover a {
color: #999;
}
.fullscreen-nav.full-nav-active #header.w-light .full-nav-icon:hover > .menu-icon:before, .fullscreen-nav.full-nav-active #header.w-light .full-nav-icon:hover > .menu-icon:after {
background-color: #999;
}
2. You can change the background and text color of the mobile menu in Theme Options -> Navigation -> Mobile Navigation. Set the Background to black or other colors instead of white. You can also set the Text Style to “Custom” so you can choose any colors for the menu text.
3. When you add headings by using Custom Heading element, you have Text Transform settings in the Custom Heading settings window that optionally override your custom CSS. You will need to add an !important rule so it will override any other declarations, as the one below:
h1,
h2,
h3,
h4,
h5,
h6 {
text-transform: none !important;
}
Thank you! #1 worked perfectly, but I’m getting stuck with #2. I changed everything as you suggested but the colors of the mobile nav just won’t update for some reason. It’s currently set to text color: white and background color: black but the background is still white with white text. For #3, I tried adding in the “text-tansform: uppercase !important” for h1-h6 like how you wrote it, but the default headers still won’t change to all caps.
Stuff like blog post titles, page titles, etc.
Sorry for the late reply!
I just checked your site, it seems like you have figured it out! Both #2 and #3 are working fine on my end. Your mobile menu background is black and text is white. All headings are capitalized.
However, if you set the color scheme to black, the menu links will also be black when hovering and active. When you set the menu background to black, you won’t see the active menu item. So, I would recommend you to change the theme color scheme to other colors instead of black
I had the arrows on a slider in Slider Revolution set to a default style with white squares and black arrows. Left my computer untouched for an hour, came back, refreshed the page, and the arrows had suddenly changed to transparent grey squares with black arrows. I tried toggling different style options to see if I could fix whatever broke, but for some reason, no matter what I do the background of the arrows stays transparent grey/black (even when I manually change the background through the custom navigation styles). It just looks so ugly now. Any ideas?
(Sorry if this is beyond your realm of expertise, but Slider Revolution doesn’t offer support with the theme.)
Forgot to add, I’m also having trouble with turning the slider off in mobile. I checked the “Hide Slide on Mobile” option and it does nothing. Thanks for any help!
Hello there!
First of all, please ensure that you have updated the theme and Slider Revolution plugin to the latest update. You will find more details in the changelog: https://themeforest.net/item/overlap-high-performance-wordpress-theme/15344205#item-description__update-log
Also, there may be a plugin conflict on your site. Try to deactivate the plugins one by one to find the problematic plugin.
If this doesn’t fix the problem, please give me your site URL. It would be easier if I can inspect any errors on your site.
If you’d like you can send a private message in the contact form here: https://themeforest.net/user/wyde#contact
Hi! Im having problems with the overlap function in one of my pages. Im having this large blank space between the footer and the last row of content. I think the problem comes from a bad overlapping usage but cant figure out why. I have a slider as header and then I overlapped a piece of content on top of it. IN order to the rest of content rows to stack properly below I had to repeat the same top-overlapping thing and drag all the content up. All looks OK except at the bottom of the page, that I can not “drag” up hence leaving this blank space…... the website is https://bluenationbaja.com/
Thanks in advance!
I’m sorry but it looks like you did a wrong way to build the page. When you set the Overlap option of the row to move the content to the top. This will move the whole section to the top so you have the gap at the bottom of the row. This is how browser works.
That means, you will need to move all rows below to the top too. So, you will have bigger blank space at the bottom of the page.
If you’d like to use the Overlap option to move some parts/elements to the top, you should set it to the column instead of the row.
In this case, your fishes picture is in different row from the text (“We Are the Ocean Experts”), if you move it to the top, you will have the blank space in the first row.
Here’s a quick guide to work around this:
1. Edit that page, and click on the Page Settings:
And then add custom CSS below to the Custom CSS settings:
.remove-gap {
height: 0;
}
2. Edit the first row (container of the fishes picture) to put the CSS class named ‘remove-gap’ into the Extra CSS Class field in the row settings window.
So, you don’t need to set the Overlap option to move the rows below it to the top.
I’ve applied overlap to columns instead of rows and added the CSS and it worked like a charm! thanks so much for an excelent assistance. I’ll make sure that I follow a more adequate design for now on.
nevermind, wrong theme… sorry
Hey,
Is there an easy way to remove the loader?
Thanks
You can change the page loader in Theme Options -> General -> Loader, choose the first option (blank icon) to remove the loader.
Also, when you remove the page loader, you should disable the Preload Images option (above the Loader option) too. It will reduce the time to show the white screen while loading.
Pretty nice but Drift chat widget doesn’t work with this theme.
Hi there!
I just tried the Drift chat plugin ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/drift/ ) on our demo site, it seems to work fine. Please ensure that you have updated the theme and all bundled plugins to the latest update: https://themeforest.net/item/overlap-high-performance-wordpress-theme/15344205#item-description__update-log
You can find more details on how to update the theme in our documentation.
If it still doesn’t work, please give me your site URL so I can take a better look.
Hi. I want to change the size of the menu location, I want to make it smaller so that I get one more word from the menu. In a resolution of 1920px the menu is perfect, but my client, who has resol. 1333px the menu comes out in two lines and I want one to come out. Thank you
Hi,
You can change the font size of the primary menu in Theme Options -> Typography -> Primary Menu.
However, if some menu items are still in the new line, I would recommend you to make the long words shorter or move some items to the sub menu (dropdown) instead.
Hi, we have installed theme here http://demo5.abouthotelier.gr/ , on mobile the language switcher doesn’t display correctly , please see screenshot https://pasteboard.co/GYb9xfN.jpg & https://pasteboard.co/GYb9oCSF.jpg
The language switcher issue will be fixed in the next update. Thank you for reporting it.
However, the Book button is not included in the theme design. By default, it should be a menu icon without borders but looks like you’ve changed it to the text with borders so it doesn’t display properly on mobile.
To fix this issue, you will need to add custom CSS below to add the gap to the right side of that button on mobile:
@media only screen and (max-width: 1079px) {
.myButton {
margin-right: 15px;
}
}
Hi, I added the custom CSS above to child theme’s style,css but the problem remains
As I mentioned above, the custom CSS I provided will fix the Book button issue only. The language switcher issue will be fixed in the next update of the theme.
I just visited your site with my iPhone and it seems to work now. If it doesn’t work on your end. You will need to change the version number of your child theme to force the browser to download new stylesheet file from your server instead of the browser caches, or clear your browser caches and try again.
Also, you can add custom CSS to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS so you won’t have a browser caching issue.
Hi, I updated the theme and The language switcher issue remains https://goo.gl/8NFquF
Please ensure that you have updated Wyde Core plugin to the latest update (3.7.1) too.
After you update the theme, you will see a notification message to install the new update of bundled plugins. Click on Installing Plugins to install them. You can find more details on updating bundled plugins in our documentation.
I updated Wyde Core plugin but still the same issue
I’m sorry but after investigating this issue. It is a CSS conflict issue.
The CSS of Bootstrap that is included in the plugin called “Hotelier availability” on your site is causing this issue. It makes the height of the mobile menu shorter so you couldn’t see the language switcher.
To fix this issue, you will need to add custom CSS below to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS:
#vertical-nav {
-webkit-box-sizing: content-box;
-moz-box-sizing: content-box;
box-sizing: content-box;
}
Hi,
There seems to be an error in the portfolio on Mobile. When selecting a category the images corresponding with that category get displayed, but a second later all images show, also the ones who don’t belong in the selected category. This only happens on phones so it seems.
Check https://wydethemes.com/overlap/portfolio-overlap/
Any fix for this?
Indeed! Thank you for reporting this issue, we will fix it in the next update.
Great, thanks! Any idea when we could expect the next update?
We will release the new update within a week.
HI, I just bought the theme but have problems to set a static frontpage. Im using the Travel Blog template. Already imported the Demo contents and all looks good. The Travel blog home page also displays properly but when I select it to be displayed as static frontpage, the page just shows blank…..any ideas? Im pretty lost. I have a fresh wordpress installation and just installed the required plugins which are the only ones activated…..I did configure my installation as a multisite network, case that matters, but all is network enabled. Thanks
PS: Switching to a different theme fixes de issue, but obviously is Overlap the one I want
OK, after experimenting a bit I found out that I had to edit the page and CHANGE the Page Template from “Default” to “Slider Revolution Blank Template”. Now all shows correctly! I’ve got a new problem thou, now the header and menus are not showing AT ALL…...
I reinstall wordpress, disable network capability just in case and imported all the files back up…now everything appears to work.!
Happy to hear that you’ve figured it out! Great job
Hi, full-with function not found. On visual composer, I´m doing: row adjust->general->content with-> full-with. But border not disappear .
To remove the borders from the left and right sides of the full width row, you will need to edit the column settings too. Edit the column inside that row, change the Padding Size to “No Padding”.
Hey Guys,
I’ve got a problems with tabs and contact7.
On my contact site I want to have two tabs with two different contact forms. But when I insert the forms I only see a contact form in the first tab. When I use 3 tabs, I can also see only a contact form in the first tabs and the tab 2 and 3 are empty.
do you guys how to solve this problem? thanks in advance Marcel
Hi,
Sorry for the late reply!
I have tried it on the demo sites and it seems to work fine. I have no idea why it doesn’t work on your site. There may be a plugin conflict, if you have other plugins installed, try to deactivate them to see if it works.
If it still doesn’t work, please send me that page URL so I can take a better look. You can send a private message in the contact form if you would like: https://themeforest.net/user/wyde#contact
the same problem happen in Theme options section. Color controls are missing, the difference is the version of theme, where there is missing the controls is the last version. I show you with images:
https://goo.gl/KT1c8Y https://goo.gl/mBJFAFIt’s working fine on our demo sites. Please ensure that you have updated Wyde Core and all bundled plugins to the latest update too.
Also, there may be a plugin conflict on your site. If you have other plugins installed, try to deactivate them to see if it works.
If it doesn’t work, please provide me your site URL and admin login details so I can take a better look. You can send a private message in the contact form: https://themeforest.net/user/wyde#contact
Hi, when a previus version of the theme, I use CF7 customizer plugin to personalize the colors of the contact form, but with the last version of the theme, there is something wrong because appear “text color” but not the control to modificate this value, the same with “Background color”, appear the legend, but not the control to customize this value. Any issue you knows? I send you the link to the good version and wrong version for a better explain Good: https://goo.gl/i6YQuH Wrong: https://goo.gl/WDR46w
Thank you so much in advance
Hi,
It seems like that the links you provided are broken. It says “Ana Rueda Eventos”.
Anyway, I think that this is not a theme issue. I’ve tried that plugin with this theme and other themes. It doesn’t even work with default WordPress theme, Twenty Seventeen.
That means, this is a plugin issue, it may not be compatible with the new update of WordPress.
I also found some issues have been reported to the support forum of that plugin: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/cf7-customizer/
Hi. Any possibility to order “portfolio categories” with my own criteria, not alphabetically? Thank you so much.
You will need to install the “Category Order and Taxonomy Terms Order” plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/taxonomy-terms-order/ so you can easily change the order of portfolio categories and any taxonomies by using drag and drop.
I have as home page, the corporate demo, and if I select “Setting Up One Page Site”, the content dissapear, and I don´t know why. Thank you in advance
Solve. Thank you
Hi, is possible add another fonts? how? Thank you
function overlap_get_google_fonts_api_key( $key = '' ){
$key = ''; //Replace with your Google API key
return $key;
}
add_filter( 'overlap_google_fonts_api_key', 'overlap_get_google_fonts_api_key' );
Anyway, you will need to update the theme to make sure that function will work properly.
Also, if you’d like to add custom fonts, you can add them via CSS. You will need to upload your font files to your child theme folder and put the CSS into style.css in your child theme, you can find more details in the section “Adding Custom Fonts in WordPress Using CSS3 @font-face” on this page: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/how-to-add-custom-fonts-in-wordpress/
Hi, is possible customize color scheme? I don´t want predefined colors, I want my owns. Thank you
I found the option “custom scheme” where you can personalize one color and I think there isn´t more options to customize more colors.
When you turn on the “Custom Color Scheme” option in Theme Options -> General, you can choose unlimited colors.
However, you can choose only one color scheme for your site. If you’d like to change different colors for different parts, you will need to set it to individual content element. There are color option included in the settings of some content elements. However, some parts/elements don’t have color settings, you will need to set them via custom CSS instead. You can add custom CSS to your site in Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS, see more here: http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-easily-add-custom-css-to-your-wordpress-site/
Hi, how is the smartest/easyiest way to update your theme on a live-running website?
The best way is using the Envato Market plugin so you can download and install the new update from your WordPress admin. You can find more details on how to install and use that plugin in our documentation.
Okay. I had to search my archives to refind the original download (including documentation). And I did found the section where you recommend using EnvatoPluginn.
BUT; I dont see any reason to use a plugin for that???
In your docu, you also describe a super easy way: Deactivate->Delete->Upload new->Activate. All done in the WP-Backend
This procedure is very simple, so why you recommend to use a plugin for that, I dont really understand?
Anyway, thanks for pointing me back to original documentation, where I did fund a suitable solution
If you manually upload the theme in Appearance -> Themes, you will need to download the new update from ThemeForest first, and then upload it to your WordPress site.
Also, before uploading the theme in Appearance -> Themes, you will need to deactivate the theme by activating another theme and delete the old one first, and then upload the new update to your site and activate it again.
However, once you activate another theme, the look of your site will be changed and won’t display properly until you installed and activated the Overlap theme. It’s not good if there is anyone visit your site while uploading the new update.
If you install the Envato Market plugin, it can check the new update automatically. If there is a new update available, you will see the update link of the Overlap theme in Appearance -> Themes. You can click on that link to automatically download and install the new update from without deactivating and deleting the old one.
Anyway, you can download the new update of the documentation in your Downloads tab on ThemeForest anytime.
Hi again, thanks for claryfiyng the difference, and provide the answer I was expecting first time
All the best!
You’re welcome
