Yes I haven’t included Yutube style portfolio to Demo XML yet, but it’s easy to do, just follow next steps:
1. Choose any video portfolio template or 2,3… columns for your homepage (page options, attributes)
2. add portfolio project (Portfolio > Add new)
3. type title, choose category (filter) if you need it
4. upload Featured image
5. upload hover image (you can use animated GIF)
6. turn on Show in Lightbox switcher
7. paste Video URL and Save it

1. It supports only cover images (jpg and gif) for Projects in Portfolio pages like this – https://plexx.mallinidesign.com/portfolio/youtube-style/
2. I’m not sure about exactly the same page, I think you should use something like Page builder or Visual composer.

1. I think it’s not worth because needs a lot of work for replacing Vimeo/Youtube players with own and original cover is really easy to change in Youtube/Vimeo account.
2. Visual composer 5 is compartible with my theme but unfortunately it’s not free plugin so I can’t show you any examples. If you have Visual composer license you can try it with my theme.

Unfortunately there is no option for featured projects like you want, but it is interesting idea.
About videos in any portfolio page – yes, you can use any portfolio template like 1,2,3,4,5 columns with video, also packery and masonry style.

1. I think you can upload some videos to your server if wordpress supports that, but only into wordpress visual editor, I mean not as popup video in portfolio page.

Hello! Yes, all projects you can find in Portfolio section of admin panel, also they have settings as hover thumb, featured image and etc.
I think there`s something wrong with my Portfolio section. It doesn`t list the projects that are activated. Is there an email where I can send you a print screen?? There`s an error message where the projects should be listed.

Yes right you should change it in Page attributes but make sure you have not set this page as Blog in Settings > Reading because Wordpress ignore page settings in this case.

Yes you can have up to 30 projects on page but it can reduce loading speed. “About” section can only be placed after portfolio projects but you can use wordpress editor which content can be placed before and after portfolio projects.

You can create video portfolio with any portfolio template, pages only for Video was made for standard and most popular grids. Of course you can add filter (category) for each item and filter through them.
Hello, I am making a site with your lovely theme, but I am running into an issue. I am using Polylang plugin to make a multilingual site, and for most things it works great. But the portfolio items don’t show up now that I made them multilingual. The filters do, but the portfolio items unfortunately not. Is there some setting or a change in one of the php files I can make to make it work, or is Polylang just not an option in combination with your theme? Hope you can help!! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply, I have some additional info: Some other things happen as well: if I choose the portfolio in columns or Packery, and turn on Polylang for the portfolio some stuff breaks: The custom title disappears and my admin bar disappears. If I choose one of the full screen portfolios, the admin bar returns and the portfolio works (no custom title, but I guess that makes sense, doesn’t belong in this template…) If I turn on WP_DEBUG on the colomns and packery pages I get a fatal error: Uncaught Error: [] operator not supported for strings Let me know if you need to know more!! Thanks for your help

Yes, in the settings of the plugin I have activated Portfolio and Filters as custom post types and taxonomies.
If I DON’T activate those, both my english and dutch version of the site show the same portfolio (which I don’t want) but the site doesn’t give an error.
If I DO activate those, the site gives the errors at the packery and columns version of the portfolio, but no errors on the full page version of the portfolio and other pages. (so full page portfolios do work as they should, packery and columns not… and I really want the packery portfolio!)
I guess I will also contact the plugin creator to see if it is indeed a bug on their side.
I have posted on the Polylang forum, now I have to wait till they react. I think indeed the issue is something in their plugin, in combination with my PHP version. I hope that if they solve that, it should work. I will keep you posted. Thank you again for your kind help!
I just realized that I could check this myself: I turned my PHP version from 7.1 to 7.0 and that made things work! I’ll mention this to Polylang as well. Problem solved for now!

Here is the reply of the Polylang author. If I understand him correctly, it is showing up as an error in Polylang, but the issue is somewhere else, possibly the theme.

It modifies a ‘tax_query’ parameter from a WP_Query object. It indeed expects that this ‘tax_query’ parameter is an array as described in the WP_Query documentation: https://codex.wordpress.org/Class_Reference/WP_Query#Taxonomy_Parameters
If it is a string on your install, it probably comes from a plugin or your theme which fills the parameter with a string (maybe empty), which is wrong. In the end the error appears in Polylang but the bug is in the query wrongly created.
This is quite a bit above my understanding of PHP (I only have some basis PHP knowledge) so not sure if it is something for you to fix in the theme or not… For now I will just stay on PHP 7.0.

It’s strange to get WP query error because I’m using the same query in each portfolio template and I can’t get this error on my test server. But it’s good if PHP 7.0 fully compatible with polylang plugin and you don’t have any error. My theme has been tested with PHP 7.0 – 7.1 as well.
Thanks for your reply. Maybe it is yet another factor in the mix (like another plugin) that causes the issue. For now I will just make sure we stay on PHP 7.0 and I will try switching of plugins to see if I can find the culprit.
Okay, here is what I did: - complete clean install of Wordpress - only activate the plugins required by your theme AND the Polylang plugin - choose the 2 needed languages and activate Portfolios and filters at the custom posttypes - add a portfolio item in Dutch and it’s English counterpart - no settings changed, no text added, only a featured image - make a page (in Dutch and English) with the Portfolio 6 + packery template
And yes, the problem appears here as well!
QUESTION 1: are there any setting in the portfolio items that MUST be done or else the query will be empty?? Can this be the issue? Some setting that does not appear in the full page portfolio?
QUESTION 2: When I choose the theme and I have to install the prepackaged plugins, I have an issue with the Advanced Custom Fields Pro plugin, it does not automatically activate.
Installing and Activating Plugin Advanced Custom Fields PRO (1/3) Uitpakken van pakket… De plugin installeren… Plugin is succesvol geïnstalleerd. Plugin activation failed. An error occurred while installing Advanced Custom Fields PRO: The plugin has no valid “header”.
I can then manually activate the plugin, but can this cause the issue? The absense of a valid header in the plugin?

one more addition: If I check the source of the page that does not work, the html ends a long way before it should… So quite a lot of the page is actually missing (that’s probably also why the admin bar disappears)

If you can see portfolio items it means query isn’t empty, but if you see half page or just beginning, yes it might be. There are many differences in portfolio design and CSS but query for different styles almost the same. If you open souce html and see only part of code it shows on fatal PHP error.
About ACF plugin yes it has been fixed in last theme version.
No I cannot see the portfolio items when I choose the packery template, but I can see them if I choose a full screen template.
Can the ACF plugin be the source of the problem?
I am searching further, and a bit further: the issue seems to be in the PHP part of the content-masonry.php If I delete that part it of course does not show me the portfolio, but the page no longer breaks! My search will continue!!
okay: if I remove line 41 from content-masonry.php ( ‘tax_query’ => $taxonomy, ) then the page no longer breaks and seems to work. But I don’t know if this might cause problems elsewhere?? I guess the issue must then be in line 34 where the variable $taxonomy is declared?
Hello! Taxonomy declarates portfolio and filters, so it’s main part of template. And ACF can not be the reason because it’s only settings array.
But you can keep it removed or better commented (with double //) to activate in future if you will need it

And I find out when I need it… If I want to show the portfolio of a specific taxonomy. If I choose the filter (category), it works. If I don’t choose a filter, it should choose all, but that’s where it goes wrong. No filters selected results in the empty query! So I can work around the problem by always selecting all categories is I need all, instead of relying on the theme to show me all if none are selected.
well, maybe you should try empty taxonomy or you have more changes in code which need to choose all filters

Titles were disaled in mobile devices to prevent multiple click but you can show them if you replace CSS file, I can send you it just give me your email or send me message to support email.
About animated gif, you can use it as featured image and turn on Show Fullsize switcher if you want to keep animation, or you want to show gif in mobile devices on tap?

About portfolio grid, you can use any grid size within video portfolio – 1 column, 2, 3… Just choose it in Page attributes.
