The main Blog page is showing the entire blog posts, I’d like it to display more like the Blog Category page where the images are small and it’s just the Blog excerpt. Where can I make that happen?
Hello, to do this go to Theme Options > Blog > Blog Excerpts and select the “Force Excerpts” setting. This will only show excerpts on the blog page, just like it does on the category page.
Thanks for that, now I have 2 links going to the individual blog posts, one that says “Continue Reading” left aligned just below the excerpt text and then a “Read More” that’s under that and right aligned in another container. It looks like it part of the “entry-meta”. Any easy way to turn one of those off in the theme?
You can use a bit of CSS to hide that section. Just let me know if you only want to hide the link or the entire bottom part of the post including the author link, I’ll post the CSS.
Hello guys! I’m having a bit of an issue with Podcaster coupled with Seriously Simple Podcasting on my website https://chillpill.faskil.com
When I go to the archives page, it returns no result. I checked in the settings, but when I go the podcast archive settings, I can’t setup anything. Can’t set a category for episodes as they’re not a normal post with SSP.
Enclosed screenshots:

Hello, thanks for the screenshots. Are you able to select Series from the dropdown menu?
So, SSP changed up their code in their most recent update, meaning that how Podcaster detects whether the plugin is active, isn’t doing that anymore. A fix is on the way. And sorry for the inconvenience.
Hi, after the most recent update my homepage changed. The top podcast in the header doesn’t have an audio bar to play the podcast anymore. How do I fix this?
Hello, sorry about that. Could you send me a URL or screenshot of what you are seeing? You can send it so support@themestation.net if you don’t want to post it here in a public forum. Thanks.
Hi,
Just updated the theme, and my podcast articles don’t appear on the front page anymore.
It looks like I need to put them in a “Category”, and select this category for the “Podcast Archive” setting, but using the “Seriously Simple Podcasting” extension to manage my podcast articles, it looks like I cannot choose a category for my podcast articles.
What can I do ?
My site : https://timefortales.be
Hello! If you are using SSP, you should have an additional drop down menu within the theme options to select “Series”, since that is the taxonomy used with that plugin. Which version of Podcaster are you currently running?
Hi,
I’m using the last version (1.8.3). I do use a “serie” in SSP, all my episodes are in the said serie, but it doesn’t appear in the “Podcast Archive” settings !
Edit: Please disregard the my reply above, the SSP plugin was changed recently, which is why Podcaster is not displaying the correct fields in the theme options. An update for Podcaster is on the way with a fix. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Hello, thanks for your quick reply. Could you send me a screenshot of your Theme Options > Podcast page, just so I can see what options you have in front of you? You can send the image to support@themestation.net. Thanks!
Great theme. Everything appears to be setup fine. My front page will not allow me to turn on ‘Hosts’ ‘Donate Button’ or ‘Newsletter,’ however ‘From Blog Posts’ works. Any ideas? Thank you. The website is podcast.surfingwave.com
Hello, have you selected the template called “Front Page (New)” for your front page? After that please make sure you’ve gone to Theme Options > Front Page > Hosts and Theme Options > Front Page > Donate to activate the sections. Let me know if this helps.
hello! the style.css file contains many errors and warnings…. and shows http error 500 when activated… assist please
Hey there, just a heads up that this is being looked into.
Do you have any links to a homepage showing videos or episode showing videos?
Nothing video related seems to function:
http://demo.themestation.co/podcaster-golden/2019/03/09/video-episode/ http://demo.themestation.co/podcaster-golden/2014/02/05/episode-3-you-can-also-post-video/Hello, the videos work on my end, what kind of error are you getting? Are they buffering for a long time or not playing at all?
Btw, the second link is mislabled, that will be renamed. Thanks for the feedback.
Not working at all. The error displayed is: Media error: Format(s) not supported or source(s) not foundmejs.download-file: http://podcaster-new.development.thst/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2019/03/livealohamp4.mp4?_=1
Thanks for the reply, it’s all been fixed now. You should be able to view the videos.
Hello – I’ve emailed but never got a response. There is no longer a field to enter my “featured audio.” My featured audio player isn’t showing up on the front page or on the individual podcast pages. I have installed the CMB2 plugin. I tried suggestion from previous post about clicking “screen options” and making sure “featured audio” was checked but that option isn’t available. Not sure what i’m doing wrong or how to resolve this but my website, especially the front page, looks ridiculous
Greatly appreciate your help.
Hello,
sorry to hear about that, I actually did reply to your message three days ago. Maybe check your junk folder, my reply might have gotten lost in there.
I’ll also send my message out again just in case it got lost on the way.
Any attempt to make a change or select a preset from theme options brings up this message “There was a problem with your action. Please try again or reload the page.” Obviously trying again and reloading the page does nothing. Even fresh installing the word press on the site didn’t work.
Hello, thanks for getting in touch. This happens fairly often with WordPress, and might not be linked to the theme. I recommend, logging out and logging back in again. You can also try deleting your cookies to start a new session. Do let me know if this helps.
Hello. I tried deleting the cookies and re login in. I also tried multiple browsers. The issue is still there.
Hello, I’m really sorry about that. Could you send me a screenshot of the the exact error page you are getting, as well as all the plugins (screenshot of your plugin page should be enough) you are currently using. Please send it to support@themestation.net And since you said a re-install of WordPress still keeps the error, could you also let me know what version of WordPress, PHP and MySQL you are using. Thanks.
Hey, using both Gutenburg and the classic editor – custom fields are not updating so I can’t embed my podcast link from buzzsprout. Is there something I am doing wrong? I have installed the CMB2 plugin. Thanks, Rachel
Hello, thanks for getting in touch. Just a little thing before I get to your question. You don’t appear as having purchased this theme or support using this account. Maybe you’re logged into another account? Could you log into your account you used to purchase this theme and post your support request again? Sorry for the inconvenience, but I need to be able to verify the purchase. Thanks!
Hi guys,
Loving the Podcaster theme for Wordpress! Got it running for over half a year now, but something strange came up…
My frontpage looks all messy. It lost the lay-out it had (a list of episodes). Could you help me fix it? This is the website: https://www.manmanmandepodcast.nl
Also, what is the easiest way to translate the theme to Dutch? Did a lot of Googling, but I still can’t figure it out the right way.
Okay, I skipped a night’s sleep and fixed it aaaal byyyy myseeeelf.
New question: I can not seem to translate words like ‘ago’, ‘by’, ‘recent’, ‘commented’, etcetera, because they don’t appear in the .pot-file. Am I missing something?
Hey, happy to hear your figured it out!
As for the translation, could you let me know where these words are exactly? Like on a category page or single page or the landing page. Because some words can be changed within the theme options, but I’m not sure those are the ones you’re dealing with.
Sure!
‘Popular’ / ‘recent’ / ‘commented’ on the blog-page (on the right, above the widget): manmanmandepodcast.nl/blog/
And ‘ago’ at the bottom of the frontpage (under ‘Nieuws’, it says ‘5 dagen ago’).
Thanks, just a heads up that this is being looked into.
Hey, just letting you know that there is an update for Podcaster. It includes a translation ready version of the Podcaster Widgets plugin. You can go ahead and translate it into your language just as you did with the theme. Just make sure to name the translation file podcaster-widgets-”language code”. So for french for example it would be called podcaster-widgets-fr_FR.mo. Hope this helps, do let me know if it works!
I just received an email that this theme has been updated. However, there is nothing in the changelog reflecting a new update, or what is changed.
Hello! Sorry about that, the changes to changelog/documentation were still in the course of being made. You can now find the updated changelog at the bottom of the page here: https://themeforest.net/item/podcaster-multimedia-wordpress-theme/6804946 or in the documentation: http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/#changelog
Hello,
I’m looking for a theme compatible with SSP but i’m facing an issue that none seems to be able to solve.
My podcast episodes are not embedded in blog posts so, i’d like to display each season on its own page using the “series” taxonomy from SSP. But many themes seem to use blog categories (instead of SSP series) to manage different seasons.
Could you tell me if it is possible with Podcaster to create a page displaying a list of podcast episodes from a selected series ?
Many thanks.
Hello, Thanks showing interest in Podcaster. Yes, you can make archive pages using the SSP series taxonomy. Just create a new page, select the “Podcast Archive – Grid” or “Podcast Archive – List” template and you will be able to select the SSP series from a drop down list. This will enable you to create multiple pages, each with a series of your choice being displayed.
I hope this answers your question, do let me know if you have any other.
Right now, I have to wait to re-design my site with the Podcaster theme, I just purchased. While I’m waiting, do you by any chance have a video tutorial I can view to get up and running?
I’m not adverse to reading the documentation, but I’ve already been through three themes until stumbling onto this one. One of those themes required me to make adjustments to my PHP, which sent my host into a tizzy because of CPU and Memory requirements were exceeded so they’ve got my site on lock down.
I just wanted to get up and running quickly as I also picked up the Essential Grid plugin which will be another learning curve as well. If not, I’ll live but it would be nice.
Hello,
Unfortunately there is no video tutorial on how to set up Podcaster. But following the documentation (http://themestation.co/documentation/podcaster/) should help. The main things that need to be done:
- set up front page & blog page - select podcast category - make podcast archive
You shouldn’t have to make adjustments to your PHP unless you are importing data. Importing data can be needs more memory than other operations, although a good host should grant you enough memory to perform a basic demo by default. I have run into this issue a handful of times, though.
If you run into any issues while setting up, just let me know and I’d be happy to help. Either here, or even better, just send in a request: https://themeforest.net/item/podcaster-multimedia-wordpress-theme/6804946/support
And just a heads up, Podcaster isn’t compatible with Essential Grid out of the box. Not sure what you want to do with it, but if you let me know, I could give you some pointers.
That’s fine; I’m just going down the list and making changes as I go along. I added my own CSS to make the necessary adjustments.
As for Essential Grid, I had to drop it. It’s a resource hog and slows my site down regardless of how well it’s optimized; including caching plugin and CDN. My last theme that’s been discontinued is a grid format and worked well but it’s no longer supported.
I have a 12 year old podcast, over 800 episodes and a wide variety of categories for my genres. Hence, I need to display a vast amount of content on the front page, which this theme makes a bit difficult to do. I’ll follow up with those questions later as I move along.
Right now, I wanted a larger logo centered and my category menu centered just below that. I’ve achieved that but how do I make the container larger so I can make the font a little larger for the categories? Right now, I have them set at 14px. Anything larger will force them to the 2nd line.
Also, no matter if I stick with your default template or not; the search in the header interferes with the categories. When you click on it, it overlaps one of the categories and you can’t type in it. Instead, you end up clicking on the category and it takes you to that page. If I can’t work that out, I’ll just add search to the sidebar that I will add to the front page shortly but it would be nice to have in the header and be functional.
Here’s my code (probably not great, but it works):
.above .logo.with-img img { max-width: 200%; max-height: 200%; margin-left: 100%; margin-top: 10px; }
nav#nav.toggle { width: 100%; }
nav {
z-index: 200; position: unset; }
nav .thst-menu {
list-style: none; margin-left: -350px; margin-top: -33px; margin-bottom: -20px; font-size: 14px; text-align: center; }
And here’s an image of what I’ve done so far:
https://partyfavorz.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Capture.jpgJust a heads up, replied to your email.
Hello! I recently updated the theme and it’s messed with my homepage’s display of my posts. I’ve used the theme for years and it has worked beautifully with posts appearing just like your demo: http://demo.themestation.co/podcaster-dark/
After the recent update, my main page blog list is a mess. http://www.happyjacks.org/ – I’ve looked around to see if it’s a setting that went wrong in the update but I can’t find anything!
Please help!
Hello, Thanks for getting in touch, happy to hear you’re still enjoying Podcaster.
A few questions: has the sidebar always been active on you main page? Could you tell me what version of Podcaster you were running before you ran the update? Is it just the white boxes under the images that has changed or something else?
Sorry about that, just trying to figure out what might have caused the change.
No prob! I’m not 100% sure what version it was to be honest. I update regularly but it might have been a version or two behind if many updates have come out since WP 5 came out.
Yes, we have always had the side bar.
Actually no. The boxes weren’t loading at all and the info was loading as a block of text under the picture. That seems to have magically fix since last night.
The white boxes were a new thing too. It seems that having the full titles on (which was the case before the update I believe) was the issue. I turned on the setting to shorten the titles and it fixed the appearance. Maybe an option to make the font size of the titles smaller?
Thanks, as always, for your fast response!
Another question, is there an option or a setting to have a load more button for the front page? If not in the settings is there a plugin that you can recommend?
Another update: some of my team are reporting the site is buggy when it first loads on a browser. Upon refresh it clears up though and doesn’t happen again?
They say that the images are clear and layered over (like literally covering) the text on the post listed above it, similar to what I was seeing last night with the text in blocks under the images? I saw it for a brief moment earlier but didn’t get a picture of it. That was on Chrome. I looked on Safari and no such error.
Still trying to get a screen cap of it but I can’t get it to repeat on my computer.
Just a heads up that I am looking into this!
Thanks! Sorry to pile on with another thing. It seems like the featured post in the header of the front page isn’t updating correctly? It’s not updating to the most recent post but seems stuck on the one before that. I checked the setting and it is still set to the most recent post function.
Hello,
This issue is currently being looked into. Could you send me a screenshot of your your Theme Options > Podcast page and your Theme Options > Front Page Header page just so I can take a look at your settings: support@themestation.net.
Thanks!
Hey! I did some experimenting last night. It seems that it was automatically featuring anything that was in the “uncategorized” category. I went through and disabled all my plug-ins and it was still happening.
I installed the new update last night and it seemed to fix the issue! Not sure if that was the intent, but great work!
Yes, a couple of minor changes were made. Happy to hear this solved the issue!
Hi, I recently updated the podcaster theme and wp to the newest version and now the audio post type wont save the url when i add it in featured audio. Any advice would be appreciated because I am trying to launch the site this week and my podcast section is now not working. Thanks
Actually, disregard, I found that when I imported my podcast entries that there was a space before and after the url and it wasnt working. So, as a note for anyone else, if you are having the same issue where the url either isnt saving in the featured Audio section or isnt showing on the page make sure there are no spaces before or after the url
Hello,
Yes, small things like stray blank spaces can cause an issue, especially in URLs unfortunately. I’m glad you managed to figure it out.
we don’t see it either. Very stressful to have this happen second time that we are on a release deadline.
Hello, sorry about that. Unfortunately WordPress is currently making a lot of changes to their editor which is what is causing this.
It is being looked into, an update should be out later today.
Happy New Year! Was there an update? we had to release our podcast episode without the link to SoundCloud
would love to have that fixed ASAP
Thank you and happy new year to you too! Update is on the way, still has to be approved by Themeforest staff. Sorry about the link, but you can always include the player within the post as a regular embedded player. This should work since it’s a Soundcloud player. Just so your post has a player at all.
I see that the latest update was January 2nd, but I don’t see the audio field still. Not when I create a new post in “audio” format, not in the previous posts where we only see the soundclound link in “custom” fields but it’s not editable.
Hello, Sorry about that. Are you using Gutenberg or the classic editor? Could you send me a screenshot of what you are seeing? support@themestation.net Thanks!
I have version 1.7.7 and Wordpress was just updated to 5.0.2. All my old posts look good but I don’t see the option to embed code (for the featured player). I manually post code for a Libsyn player.
Hello,
Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear about that.
Were you able to see the audio metabox at all, or has it been gone since you performed the update? Are you using other plugins that interfere with the Gutenberg editor? Could you send me a link of what you are seeing when you open a new edit window (support@themestation.net)?
Thanks
I’m not sure what changed, but now I see it. Nevermind
Okay, just in case someone else has this issue. I just noticed there is a button at the top that says “Screen Options” and if I open that, “Featured Audio” is a check box which is not checked by default. When I check it, the embed box appears.
Hello,
are you currently using the old editor or Gutenberg?
I’ve done a little of both but mostly using classic.
Ok, Podcaster received a new update (1.7.9) and the metaboxes should be working now for both classic and Gutenberg. Please make sure to install the CMB2 plugin, because it’s not rolled into the theme anymore (new WordPress requirements). After the update and activating the plugin, you should be fine.
I was using Gutenberg with no problems after your recent update. Then I by chance close the featured audio tab and it disappeared completely. I tried to re-insert it by choosing it among other featured stuff, but it simply does not work.
Can you please tell if you’re planning to cope with this as well?
Hello,
Thanks for getting in touch, and sorry to hear about that. A Gutenberg update is on the way.
However, the audio metabox should not disappear completely when you close the tab. The link to open the tab should still be there. Are you using other plugins that might be interfering with the Gutenberg editor?
I haven’t been able to recreate this bug on my end, but would like to take a closer look on your end. If you are okay with this, please get in touch by dropping a short message at: support@themestation.net
Thanks
I want to add a 3rd button like the 2 (1. Subscribe on Android & 2. Subscribe on RSS) in the slider image of my homepage. Can you please assist me that How can I add a 3rd button.
The website link is: https://store.webplore.com/Thanks very much
Hello, thanks for getting in touch, I’ll get right to your question. This can’t be done with the theme options, only two buttons are set for this section. However, this customization can be done by making edits using the child theme. Let me know if you would like some pointers on how to go about doing this.
I will be more than happy if you can share some pointers on how to go about doing this. And I have installed the parent theme for my website. You are saying that I need to make changes in the child theme. So how can this work if I make changes in the child theme and my website is built using the parent theme.
Thanks
Sure, so a child theme is used to make changes without touching your parent theme code. Your child theme is basically a blank folder with a basic style.css and functions.php file. If you want to make a customization, instead of making it to the file directly, you make a copy of the file you want to change and paste it into your child theme. After making the changes, upload and activate the child theme. WordPress will then load both your parent theme and the changes stored in the child theme.
Essentially, it gives you a way to make changes to your theme without actually touching the parent theme code. It also keeps your changes safe from being overwritten, when the parent theme is updated.
I recommend reading up on child themes here: https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/ https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2016/01/create-customize-wordpress-child-theme/ https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/how-to-create-wordpress-child-theme/Could you send me a message to support@themestation.net so I can send you the pointers. It’s a bit long, so I think it’s better this way.
Thanks!
