Hello guys! Your theme looks beautiful but I have some pre-purchase questions. Sorry if you answered them before.
- I work mainly with WordPress and Shopify and I never used OpenCart. Is it easy to import products? Is it easy to find extensions and do whatever I want easily? I know WP have a bigger community and it’s easy to find free plugins or even powerful premium plugins, but I would like to know how easy is to work with OpenCart.
- Is it possible to remove “buy now” button and just keep the “add to cart”? Or is it easy to edit fixed buttons on mobile? I mean, it can looks a little confusing for newbies and older people cause they don’t know what the buttons mean – ideal is to change the icon to “add to cart”.
- On Categories page, you have sub-categories images below description (which is great). I just want to know if there is a limit. If I have 15 sub-categories it will work fine (line break)?
- Is it possible to add the Free Shipping alert in the Cart / Checkout pages (like you have on product page)?
- Is it possible to remove “Business” group at Checkout and edit fields? Also, if I would like to sell to one country only, can I remove all the other options on Country/Region dropdown?
I have a lot of questions because it’s a big move. Your theme looks really nice, great UX, congratulations.
If you know someone using this theme for beauty/cosmetics, can you send me some examples?
Thanks!
Also, is it possible to change URL structure and modify slugs?
Hi,
1. You may not find the same level in Opencart coming from WP or Shopify. There is an extension store but not quite as robust so can’t say you will have better options here. Also, some 3rd party extensions are not compatible with custom themes out of the box so we recommend double checking this with the extension developer.
2. Sure you can remove any button you don’t need.
3. You can display unlimited subs in either carousel format or grid, stacked on multiple rows, with full control over how many to display per row at any screen width.
4. Product rules only work in the product page in that case via the Journal > Product Extras > Extra Modules which those can provide the select placement (based on price or other rules).
5. Yes, this is an Opencart system configuration.
Thank you! Unfortunately we can’t share other people’s live store without their consent.
6. This is an Opencart related question, we don’t handle how urls are generated, please ask for more information about this on Opencart forums at http://forum.opencart.com
Best Regards.
Is the template in the case of translate the control panel OpenCart .. translator for the same script language and is Arabic? Or in another way .. Does the template support the Arabic language? And not just flip the direction from left to right?
Hi, Journal supports multilanguage and RTL only in the storefront, not the custom admin interface, that is only in english and LTR.
Best Regards.
Sorry I would like to confirm before buying. What do you mean that it supports Arabic is the part dedicated to shopping customers Is this true? As for who does not support the Arab is the control panel? So after buying it, I guarantee the destination of the shop is fully Turn into Arabic completely customers?
Hi, just the customer facing storefront. The Journal admin panel where you edit the theme is only in English and LTR.
But in the storefront you can install Arabic or other RTL languages and it works perfectly.
Best Regards.
Sorry to get the words correctly Do you mean that the store was directed to customers will be in Arabic and work without problems? Or the template needs to install Arabic again?
do i have to get a programmer to install arabic, or is it preinstalled in the script.
It is not installed but you don’t need a programmer, just access Opencart extensions page: http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension
And search for an Arabic language pack, then you install it yourself, they should have instructions on how to do that.
The storefront will then work in RTL whenever the language is made active in the storefront.
Best Regards.

Can you help me to resolve it.
Thank you!
Hi, that’s not something theme related, most likely you have uploaded very large images and Opencart cannot process them, increase php memory_limit or use smaller images.
Best Regards.
hi. How do I make the gated area on the left and right side white
Hi, not sure how you mean, the image is not visible. Thanks.

Hi guys! I am confused and I need your help. I have products with options (size, color and so on). When I click the “add to cart” button, on the category pages I expect to see a popup window with options (Journal> Skins> Edit> Product Listing> Required Options Popup). However, instead, I see a pop-up window with an iframe with the full version of the product page. Why? How can I fix this?
Hi, please file a ticket on our support page and consult with our developers.
Best Regards.
Thank you for fast reply. I was able to resolve the issue by myself. The issue was in SeoPro URL extension for OpenCart: SeoPro doing wrong redirect and rewrite url-string which calling popup. Small ocmod with exception rules for SeoPro fixed it.
Hi, guys can you let me know where I can deactivate those tiny image dimension tips that appears in the banners and modules at the left corner?. They are green to let know the admin the info, but they appear in the live store too! Thanks
Hi, you don’t need to remove those as they’re only visible to your when logged in the admin. There’s also an option in Journal > Skins > Edit > Global > Column Dimensions.
Best Regards.
In themes 3, how do I want to make the bottom nav button on the mobile display?
Hi, just create a Bottom Menu module and add it to a layout like home. For more info please file a ticket on our support page and consult with our developers.

Hi,
I have a question. I want to hide the products not in stock in the carousel. Is this possible? http://prntscr.com/owyf19

I’d appreciate it if you helped. Thanks!

I bought your theme. I set it up. I have successfully uploaded the data files.
After uploading the data file, the site generated the following error. “Internal Server Error”
However, we do not experience errors when we select the Default theme from the opencart store settings.
Journal We get this error when we activate the theme.
Could you help.
Thanks

How can we change the video play icon?
Hi, not sure which video you’re referring to, can you post a screenshot or please file a ticket on our support page with more details.

Hi, is it possible to disabled unused journal modules to decrease .js and .css files? The homepage size is 6mb on our site;
Hi, unused css / js plugins are not loaded in a page if that page does not contain a module requiring them. Also, make sure your server sends static assets like css / js files gzipped in order to reduce their size.

Forced Mobile Menu on desktop browser resize is broken When desktop browser is resized and theme forces mobile menu mode; the top items of the mobile menu are missing. You may reproduce this problem with all Journal Demo URLs. Just browse any demo on chrome, shrink browser size to active mobile menu.. note missing top items… switch to chrome debug mode emulating mobile browser (ie. Pixel 2 etc) and refresh.. note mobile menu top items are now present.
Hi, the desktop top menu is not automatically transferred in the mobile header as there needs to be a dedicated top menu module assigned in the mobile header. And this will load on actual device, not just by resizing the desktop browser.
So it works as expected in this case, just test on an actual device or follow this guide to properly test mobile layouts in the Chrome desktop browser.
https://docs.journal-theme.com/faqs/journal/mobile-test/Best Regards.
The problem is not viewing on a mobile device. The problem is the Journal 3 theme forces desktop browser site menu to a “mobile” menu format which is missing items such as user login / account management. Basically if you make the desktop browser less then 1024 width you cannot log into the site anymore as there is no option! ALL of your demos have this problem and pretty much makes this theme unusable for desktop as user will make browser window smaller sometimes. If this is not the case them please update your demo’s to show how you may keep “mobile” menu versions of user login in top bar when Journal 3 switch to “mobile” menu view on desktop browser.
This is not considered a problem since desktops are above 1024 and only mobile devices (tablets/phones) will be under 1024.
There can be up to 3 top menus displayed in the desktop header and there is only one in the mobile header. There’s no way to know which of the 3 top menus on desktop contain relevant menus (like login, etc.) so the best approach is to have a dedicated top menu build specifically for mobile devices and assigned in the mobile header to be loaded on those devices.
We are looking into ways of loading the mobile header top menu in the background, possible even in our next update.
Best Regards.
This is not considered a problem since desktops are above 1024
This thinking is actually the cause of the problem. A “responsive” theme should provide the best experience for ANY browser size. Not just assume no one ever resizes a desktop browser window….
Website users expect things to just work. Placing some arbitrary unexpected desktop browser size restriction (like you shall only browse our site with a 1024px width) on critical parts of the user experience (ie not being able to login ) will inevitably lead to users becoming frustrated and moving on to another store with a less opinionated experience.
IMHO, Journal 3 currently has a VERY poor desktop “responsive” experience, so bad in fact we are now moving back to Journal 2 as it handles all desktop browser sizes perfectly and works equally well on mobile / tablets, not to mention it works fine in older browsers / Internet Explorer versions which is another thing Journal 3 theme unfortunately no longer supports…
We disagree. “Responsive” is a blanket term used on very simple sites with the same content delivered on all devices. Nowadays complex sites deliver content specific to a device for best performance. Journal 3 is advanced like that.
Look at big sites like this one and resize your desktop browser. They don’t even bother to make it responsive at all. Now check the same site on an actual device and you get a dedicated site built specifically for mobile.
Responsive is obsolete thinking, device specific is the way to go for optimum performance. Journal 3 is still fully responsive though, but the the device status is what makes it special.
With all that said, we are woking on a solution for the top menu, the one assigned in the mobile header module will be loaded on desktop when resized down below 1024 (hopefully in our next update).
Journal 2 is old tech and older browsers are old and obsolete as well. Journal 3 is forward thinking, taking the future in consideration, not the past.
Comparing Journal 2 and Journal 3 is like comparing a bike to a car. Sure, some people only need a bike but Journal 3 is exponentially more powerful and useful. Your concern about what happens when you resize the browser is answered by amazon.com which should know a thing or two about user experience and web browsing behaviour.
Best Regards.
If you as the developer want to enforce some idealistic opinion upon all users of your theme, of course, that is entirely up to you…
Unfortunately the real world reality is vastly different from what you attempt to portray and we need not go too far to prove this point;
Simply resize the current desktop browser window ( https://themeforest.net ) that this very comment exists in and note how wonderfully “responsive” the page is; also note how the menu responds…
but Journal 3 is exponentially more powerful and useful.
Maybe one day, just not today. Today I’m going with Journal 2 as I need to get the job done.
This argument is futile, please wait for the next update where the mobile top menu will be loaded in the background.
Other than that Journal 3 is just as responsive and on top uses advanced dedicated layouts, it is a framework, a site builder, catering to thousands of potential layout combinations, it’s not a single-use one layout type site which only offers content replacement, you build your entire layout however you want in Journal. Using device status you can have a completely different site on phones, tailored specifically to those users.
If this is too complicated or not what you want you can of course use Journal 2, works perfectly well.
I can confirm the mobile top menu is added in the background on desktop too, in the mobile header when resized below 1024.
Other than this everything is up to you how you manage visible elements via device status.
Best Regards.
whether header style 1 can be applied in header style 2 ?
Hi, different header modules have different structures and their own set of options, you can set up a new header in Journal > Header > ... and apply it as the active header in Journal > Skins > Edit > Header…
Best Regards.
Trying to submit a support ticket but it kept saying expired. Got it working after waiting so I changed my post. Love your theme!
Thank you for the feedback!
Question, after the last update v3.0.39, the stock quantity is missing on product page. Instead it shows the stock status. What can be done to show the product quantity if product is in stock, like before the update? My licence is expired so i can not submit tickets.
Hi, this isn’t a theme feature, you can set this up in Opencart > System > Settings > Option > Display Stock.
Best Regards.
Hi, i know that, the settings are correct, but after the last update it won’t show the stock quantity anymore.
This works fine on our end, probably some cache issues on your end: https://take.ms/m7Mji
Very strange, i use opencart 2.3.0.2 and can’t get the stock quantity to show.
In that case we’ll look into it, I had tested in Opencart 3. We’ll include any fixes in our next update.
Best Regards.
