For auto update of themes and plugins downloaded from Envato, kindly use the Envato Market Plugin. You can also manually update the theme by replacing the /wp-content/themes/newsplus/ folder with the latest theme folder.

All your theme customization shall be done in the child theme folder. If you have modified the parent theme, the changes will be lost. If that is the case, please take a backup of current theme folder first, then update the theme. Finally, install the child theme and then place back all your custom CSS and changes in child theme.

In order to manage old posts and new posts for featured images, you can use these two plugins:

1. Quick Featured Images for bulk managing all featured images.

2. Set first image as featured for detecting featured image from content. This plugin has not been updated in a while, and not sure if it will work with Gutenberg.

You can also use Theme Options > Single > Disable auto insertion of featured images in single posts. This will hide featured images, and you can continue adding images in content.

Furthermore, I will try and add an option for time stamp, so that you can show featured images after that stamp.

Kindly navigate to WordPress admin’s Appearance > Theme Options > General. Then check if the sidebar layout is assigned properly. If not, choose a layout style and save settings. I would recommend resetting all settings if there are no major custom changes in settings fields.

Thank you for the feedback and using the theme. The older version is also compatible with latest WordPress, and so there is no issue with that. The site can be down due to many reasons including php errors in active plugins, corrupted htaccess file or server downtime. The error log file is located inside root folder of your WordPress installation which you can access via File Manager of your Hosting account.

The tag is located inside functions.php file’s line no. 741 and 742:

$open_tag = '<h1 class="site-title">';
$close_tag = '</h1>';

In order to change the code, copy the entire function in to your child theme’s functions.php file and then change the code. If you are not using child theme, the changes may get erased when updating the theme.

I checked the theme code. The global setting currently applies to archives only. Posts will honor individual setting in post options. I will release an update for this fix. In the meanwhile, if you want you can hide it using the following CSS inside Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS:

The list only contains fixed set of cuisine and category. Since there can be unlimited cuisine and category types, I have provided a “Other recipe cuisine” option. If you have any particular cuisine and category names, kindly send me at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com. I will then add those names in the list in next update.

Hi. Best practice is to add cuisines and categorys as we go along. I use the Danish language and translate all strings . Also theese ones. And since this section categorizes the recipies, its very important that the frase is spelled correctly, everytime I write a cuisine thats not on the list. So I think you should change the way the recipe plugin works, as it is essential for the Template. Let us add more options on the 2 lists. They pop up everyday as we work with the system. I use the recipe Widget as my primary work method. Thanks.

As I mentioned in my previous comment, there can be unlimited categories and cuisines. We can not pre determine a list of these. I will add a WordPress filter to the cuisine and category list. Using that filter, you can generate a custom list inside theme’s functions.php file. I will include this in an update.
