You won’t loose any data, when updating theme, but make sure you did not make modifications to the theme core files

You are using cache plugin, i noticed – when editing things don’t forget to purge cache or disable the cache plugin and enable at teh very end of the project.

Just download it and using FTP upload to wp-content >> themes OR if you have active envato-market plugin update automatically

At this point you should have attributes added from the products >> attributes

If you go to appearance >> widgets >> shop before products area >> filter you will see the option checkbox to use Woocommerce attributes as filter parameters, toggle this and you will see the available attributes as well as the category option at the very top of the list, Drag and sort your targeted attributes and fitter will work with them.

2. The same process you can do for the VC filter element on your homepage

What I am saying is there is a BUG – in the VC filter – I cannot drag and drop the AVAILABLE filters under that BOX where you wrote drag here

Hi, how do I ensure the home page top section is same throughout the inner pages? is there a trick instead of having to edit each header? Also I am unable to understand which header is getting called on all inner pages, client wants consistency throughout the top section.

For header you have two options:

Global – from appearance >> theme options >> general set the desired header

Per page – from page edit screen under the main editor find header select. By default all pages inherit the global header option, but here you can select custom header per page.

If you go to the dashboard >> headers – you will see the active status for the global header. All other headers are just versions that come with demo, if you don’t need them – move to trash.

I used the global option – can you compare home page and one of the inner pages and tell me if you still see 2 different headers with different elements? I selected DESKTOP 1 for both DESKTOP header and MOBILE header but I still see different layouts on my desktop version on the top – I also purged cache, yet to clear browser cache though

Kindly login if you still have wp-admin details and set 1 header for all pages including header and tell me where I can edit those header elements, its getting a bit confusing..

Also to add—I cleared browser cache and purge cache and now when I try to drag PRODUCT CATEGORY inside CAR FILTER it doesn’t fit inside the container, I am able to drop other attributes except this one, can you test it?

so I completed setting up the base demo.. How does the search work? Does it pull Woocommerce categories, product titles, tags? there are 2 search bars.. 1 the basic one where I typed Audi and it says no results found and then there is this advanced search with options.. If you go to products section you will see the additional taxonomies:

Make, model, trim (year option comes in trim). Based on that data you can select the product trim from single product edit page (right sidebar, under the main publish box).

Option two: if you want your own custom system of make, model year, trim and whatever attribute – you can use the global Woocommerce attributes from the products >> attributes.

The product search/filter comes as widget and as VC element – both customizable, you can uncheck the VIN option from the widget/element settings

Theme filter also works with Woocommerce Global attributes, so if you want to extend it with additional fields you can ignore the default built-in pattern Make Model Year Trim and create your own with woocommerce attributes, so you can have Your own Make Model Year Trim Engine

Sure it has to be functional, and it is functional, only the custom woocommerce attributes work for widget only, not for the VC filter element (the one you have on homepage).

Just to see how it works, please add some attributes from products >> attributes. Add a couple of attrbiute values from product edit screen. And from appearance >> widgets >> shop before products widget area >> filter widget select the filter options to be Woocommerce attributes.

Sure, you are offering great support, I am currently customizing the backend and front end removing all that is not needed.. One observation is – the gateway times out when I was deleting bulk products – the products do get deleted, but it shows gateway time out… my PHP.INI settings are set to max and the server is awesome.. so you might want to re install DEMO data on a test server and replicate the issue yourself by deleting products (bulk) and see if you get the error and may be you can create a patch to fix it for future.
