Hi and sorry but we don’t understand, we don’t see that layout on your site: https://take.ms/JEPIk
Can you make sure you’ve cleared all caches after update?
Please share more details on how to replicate that, we may need temporary access to your setup so please file a ticket on our support page and consult with our developers.
Best Regards.
I’m finalising the website for my client. We are based in Ireland and he decided to use Elavon as the payment processor. The plugin they supplied does work no problem on the back-end and with the default theme but it doesn’t seem to work with Journal. I’m not a plugin developer myself but I tried to copy files from the “default” folder inside their plugin into same folder of Journal theme but it doesn’t do anything. The box with “Payment Details” is left blank. I can provide you with the copy of the plugin or the admin/ftp login if you be so kind to have a look at this.
Any help appreciated.
BTW. I love the theme, it so easy to use and the amount of features it has is just amazing :-)))
Hi, unfortunately our support does not cover third party extension integrations, we can help you with existing theme features only. Please consult with the extension developer about compatibility modifications for custom themes.
Best Regards.
I understand, but the extension works fine with the default theme, and also all of the default payment extensions work with Journal without any modifications so any bit of help would be appreciated.
That is the nature of a custom theme, it has to modify some of the underlying structure of the default theme in order to provide so many customizable admin options. The default theme has no editable options and that’s why people buy custom themes, so they can customize their store look and feel.
As such, extensions made for the default theme will not automatically work with custom themes unless they are adapted for that custom theme structure.
There tens of thousands of extensions that each do something, we can’t possibly cover support for them, it’s the other way around, the extension developer (who knows best what the extension is supposed to do) can look into it and adapt it to the theme.
So as much as we want to help, our support strictly covers theme issues directly related to our built-in options and features, not 3rd party extensions.
Thank you!
Make sense. Is there an email address I can pass to the developers at Elavon to contact in case they need assistance?
Sure, journal (at) digital-atelier.com
Thank you, appreciated
Turned out I had to switch the checkout from Journal to Opencart and the module works now. Pity I had to figure it out myself. I hope that setting doesn’t go away in future versions.
Should somebody search for same answer the extension is from Cardstream. It only works with default theme and they refused to help, so that’s the happy end of the problem.
For now
W haven’t heard from anyone in regards to this, but glad to hear the default checkout works, that is always a solution for custom checkout extensions that don’t work with one page checkouts.
Best Regards.
Hi, what script is needed to install cwebp on the server. On the admin it says: cwebp is not installed, but I can’t find anything on Google about it. UPDATE, I found it. yum install libwebp-tools
The problem with the webp, it doesn’t force jpg on to safari, so basically the webp support forces webp onto safari, which safari doesn’t support which results in no images for Apple users… I had a guy make this work for me back in the summer, with an extention from opencart, although I never ended up using it, because I was also using compression from my lightspeed server, he wasn’t able to make it work with both lightspeed and Safari. (Not without causing big lag, which defeats the point.)
Now the trouble I face, is how to disable the webp images without downgrading to the previous journal, I’m not sure how to remove scripts from the hosting, took me long enough to find the script in the first place.
yum install libwebp-tools – need to undo this as the webp feature for J3 is not ready yet.
Hi, Safari doesn’t have webp support by default so it shouldn’t interfere with webp feature we’ve added, please file a ticket on our support page so we can take a closer look at this.
Best Regards.
Except it does, (not sure why every developer argues this with me, I even told you about it when i was using third party extentions months ago.)
WebP gets forced onto Safari when using Journal 3, but because it’s not supported, it results in missing image error place holders. So say goodbye to your Apple customers. Although because you have no on off switch for this feature, I’m stuck with it now, unless I can figure out how to uninstall the addon in my server for the WEBP.
I actually found a guy to make a fix for this bug which all the other WEBP extentions had about 6 months ago, he did, although for me personally it wasn’t much use, as inbetween the months it took to get a fix, I started using lightspeed, the fix + lightspeed = lag. meaning you have to either turn off the fix, or turn off lightspeed, lightspeeds benefits outweighed the performance of webp benefits. you could also use LS+WEBP with the Safari fault too, although then you lose Safari customers.
So if you can fix it for Safari that will sort the issue out for all your other customers. If you fix it for Safari and Litespeed, that will solve the issue for me.
Although I’d like to point out the Safari issue doesn’t effect the lightspeed issue, The Safari fix makes the lightspeed issue.
The problem we have currently is the same with Lightspeed on or off.
Hi, webp support is checked server side by looking at Accept header sent by the browser. Safari doesn’t send that header so webp support is ignored and jpg / png images are used instead. I have checked https://www.journal-theme.com/1/ in latest Safari browser and everything works fine, images are loaded as jpg / png. Maybe there is a problem with your setup, we cannot replicate your issue on our demos.

Hi DigitalAtelier, i have a question about the product new label. How many days is a product considered “New”? (In other words, the NEW label will disappear in how many days?) And can i change the time? If yes, how? THANKS.
Hi, this doesn’t work by date, rather by how many products you limit it to. Look in Journal > Product Extras > Product Labels > Your Label (New) > Product Limit: https://take.ms/s3iYb
So new products added will take the place of the old ones, sequentially.
Best Regards.
Hi, Thanks for your quick reply. I know the quantity limit you mentioned. Maybe i did not undertand it 100% earlier. So, is that means if set the quantity limit to 5, then the latest upload 5 products will always show the NEW label? In other words, the NEW label will always there for the latest 5 products? No time limt?
Best regards, Jammy.
That’s correct. So you can extend that to as many products as you want, the label will show on the latest set up to that limit.
Best Regards.
hi. Main menu How to add new products (latest) link?
Hi, not sure which part you mean, can you post some screenshots?
Thanks.
Hi Journal Theme Support Team,
Why when you complete an order via quick checkout in journal 3 – thank you page is loading so slow. I’ve checked that on my website and also on the demo pages. Its the same, when you press complete order button and it takes 3-5 seconds to complete and show thank you page. Is there any way to make it load faster ?
Thanks
Hi, store cache is cleared when placing an order and it may take a while in order to regenerate it after, please file a ticket on our support page so we can take a closer look at this.
Best Regards.
Hi DigitalAtelier,
For other people to know. The problem is coming from the email function on opencart. Page is waiting to send the email for order confirmation and this is slowing down order orconfirmation to around 5-9 seconds which is a lot.
So the solution is to make modification and disable email confirmation or install a plugin which will do background mail queue.
Hi, indeed it may depend on mail setup too, using an external smtp server may slow down the email delivery process, consider using a smtp server relay hosted on your server in order to avoid such issues.
Best Regards.

Hello, I have a bug in my theme. Somehow my error-logs get bombarded with the same error over and over again. I just updated my Journal Theme with the latest update but it seems like it didn’t fix the issue. See the following picture for the error: https://imgur.com/HBqx058
Error: “PHP Warning: count(): Parameter must be an array or an object that implements Countable in /home/npods/public_html/system/library/template/Twig/Node/Module.php on line 346”
Hi, that error comes out because your current Opencart version is not compatible with your php version. Please file a ticket on our support page for more information.
Best Regards.
Ah yes. Ok thank you very much. Can you just tell me what PHP version I need to solve this issue? My support license has expired so if you can give me a little more details then I can solve it myself. I suppose it only requires me to update my PHP version right? I am using Opencart verison 3.0.3.2
You need PHP version 7.1
I have got PHP version 7.3 which has everything v7.1 has got. Are you sure it is because of my PHP version then?
You can rollback to 7.1. For more info please file a ticket on our support page and consult with our developers.

Hello. Can you tell me why there is a error message with Notice: Array to string conversion in /home/xxxxx/xxxxxxxxxx/system/library/journal3/options/option.php on line 189
return $property . ': ' . $value;
Hi, we are not aware of such issue, please file a ticket on our support page so we can take a closer look at this.
Best Regards.
Hi,
can you tell me please where is located the template file that adds the store logo image to the email from the contact us form? I bought Pro Email modules and I’ve set a design for all the emails, and don’t need two store logos on the same page. Screenshot here: https://imgur.com/Fn0MHi1 My support expired, so if you could tell me the location of the file, will do it myself.
Thank you
Hi, please look in “catalog/view/theme/journal3/template/journal3/module/form_email.twig” file.
Thank you very much, Best regards!!
Social login function. We can’t do this healthy. journal, very special. This function, for journal theme, fully integrated, you need to improve.
Hi, currently this isn’t supported natively but there should be several 3rd party extensions that can do this, please look through Opencart extensions page: http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension
Just consult with the extension developer about compatibility with custom themes like Journal.
Best Regards.
There are 2 modules that give confidence. I bought it, and both of them, developers, Journal theme sourced, says it can not be integrated.
While Journal offers a lot of included features (the most of any other theme), this is not something that would be part of the theme, it’s a complicated mechanism that needs to be maintained separately, requires additional custom development, please consult with an experienced developer about such custom implementation.
Best Regards.
Not only social login, but also integration of marketing tools like GTM (Google Tag Manager) which is a must for Ecommerce. In such cases, do you offer support (even in paid coverage)?
Unfortunately that is outside the scope of a mere theme. You need an ecommerce professional to assist with lots of external services an online business needs. The theme is just the design part so sadly we cannot assist with these extra services.
Best Regards.

Hi,how can i possibly create additional product page for specific product(s)?.
i want disable some tab on a particulate product(s),like select quantity, review etc.
Hi, regarding the select quantity that is not configurable per product page, but it can be globally disabled.
The product tabs, however, can be selectively added on products via the product assignment and rules options in the Journal > Product Extras > Product Tabs.
See: https://docs.journal-theme.com/docs/product-extras/tabs/
Best Regards.
Where is the option “Hide Price if Zero” option?
Hi, please find that in Journal > Skins > Edit > Product Listing > Zero Price > Hide Price if Zero.
Best Regards.
i want to ask..
1. i using journal 2 with php 5.6,. when i change to php 7.2, why my website getting error?
2. how to update from journal 2 to journal 3 ?
Hi,
1. Journal 2 has been discontinued and it will no longer receive updates but it should work with PHP 7.1. For more information, please file a ticket on our support page so we can take a closer look at this.
2. That is not a regular update so you can’t update it, Journal 3 is a new and completely different theme redesign from scratch so it will be treated as a new installation, you can’t import your J2 design to J3.
Best Regards.
