In WordPress only one thing can control the menu system (theme or plugins) and plugins take priority. This means that if you have a plugin that controls the menu system, that will always override the theme’s.

The only possible way to do it is – You have to disable the plugin that is override the menu system, then set up the theme menu items and save, and then enable your plugin again. Even though you can’t literally see the theme menu options any longer, your settings are all safely stored in the database.

That works, can I set a other default menu style in your theme? Because our menu is updated on regular basis. If we disable the plugin, for a brief moment our security for members only content is visible.

I’m afraid this isn’t something the theme (or custom code) can help with, it’s the way WordPress works. Only one thing can control the menu, and if a plugin is controlling it, then it is literally impossible for a theme to do anything about it. Perhaps you should consider installing a maintanence plugin and putting your site under maintenance when you want to change the menus.

The theme is compatible with the plugin, it must be a bug in the plugin as when you have it enabled the plugin controls the byline author output. Try downgrading to an older Co author plus version to test if it is new bug, if it is you can report it to the plugin author, as only they can really fix it I’m afraid.

Could it perhaps be a coding problem with the Masonry layout? The problem only seems to occur when that is selected.

Hm, the byline isn’t created by the block types though, they are all calling the identical method. Can you try moving the Masonry block much higher in the page to see if that helps? If is does, it means something else is manipulating the query at some point in the page. If this doesn’t help, you will need to open a ticket at http://codetipi.ticksy.com and ask to be forwarded to Chris to investigate it as we can’t recreate it locally (include staging site info if possible and admin logins).

You can do that in the Theme options > Header >Main Menu, you’ll find the border options there that you can disable

It’s not a silly question at all! WordPress.com can definitely be confusing as their packages are so different (and they are separate to WordPress.org).

However, I can confirm that the Business tier on wordpress.com does indeed allow you to install Zeen.

You do it by going into your Appearance > Menus, and then click on the menu item you want to turn it off for, and select the first megamenu design option. If the menu item doesn’t have any children menu items set, then nothing will show for it.

Ah I know what happened, the version with the Unsplash icon wasn’t committed in time before the v2.4.1 version was created. It will be included in Zeen Engine 2.4.2.

Are you saying your site has a global background image set? If so, new blocks you add in the Tipi Builder will be set to use the “Content area background”, which is a separate option above the Global background image option, if that is white, blocks by default will use that.

This whole system was added in an older update, so if you created pages with the Tipi Builder in an update that was before that specific update, and then you added a background image to your site, then you will need to go and edit those specific old pages, but only those. Any newer pages will automatically work as expected.

The trending code has not changed at all for quite a while, therefore, the only thing that could stop the trending from working is if your Jetpack connection broke or you disabled the stats module, as without that the trending wouldn’t appear. I’m sorry to hear that, but malware on sites is extremely common, and it is pure coincidence that you were running the theme on a compromised site.

There are a million and one ways sites get malware: WordPress is extremely popular and open source, meaning hackers constantly look for new exploits. Noticed how every WordPress update includes “security fixes”? That’s why you should always update WordPress core as soon as possible. Then of course there is code in themes (Zeen follows all WordPress coding standards, so highly unlikely to have a vulnerability) and plugins. Plugins are a big source of hacks because users have loads of them installed, and as a lot are free, they are abandoned eventually, and if they’re coded incorrectly/outdated, this is a problem.

But WP core, themes and plugins are the tip of the iceberg, there is a huge amount of other things that hackers target.

This includes weak passwords, weak usernames (don’t use admin), weak hosting with hosting server vulnerabilities, shared server with other sites, PHP extensions, PHP execution permissions, security protocols set up on your hosting, having ever run “nulled” themes, etc, etc…

It is important to understand that most infected sites aren’t even aware their sites have malware, as virus/malware’s whole point is to run undetected. Lots of malware remain dormant until x time, your site likely has had it for a while already.

With all this being said, depending on your hosting’s competency and customer service, they unfortunately likely won’t clean it all completely, and it’ll keep coming back (what I mentioned before about being dormant). I recommend installing multiple security plugins, such as Sucuri plugin to run multiple scans through all WordPress core files to ensure they haven’t been modified and clean it all up.

You can turn it off in the Performance tab of the theme options, however, the theme’s lazyload 100% wouldn’t be the cause of any issues, it is definitely something else breaking your site’s JavaScript which would stop lazyload from running.

Disabling all plugins to confirm this and then identify which one exactly it is.
