Google SEO Errors
Cumulative Layout Shift: all pages has warnings Not mobile friendly: All pages: content to wide for screen, clickable elements to close, font to small.
After installing Journal 3 theme Google SEO rankings are dropping fast from an average position of 7 with beautyshop theme down to 29.4 with Journal 3 theme in a month.
Please update this theme to be SEO friendly, and do not say these are false recomendations from google, cause its NOT! This theme has a very negative and heavy impact on your SEO rankings!
I can not ask for support without paying because once i mastered the Journal CMS for a bit i was 6 monts futher, now i have to pay for support, but as i can see Nothing is done for SEO.

Hi, we are hard at work on this actually. As the web evolves, Google often changes and updates their reports on a regular basis, and we do follow suit accordingly, as we’ve done for the past 7 years.
Journal will always be the most customizable, most powerful and most up to date theme, and will abide by Google standards.
However, some updates take a little longer because there many other areas that are being worked on.
But we expect to have a major update with lots of improvements by the end of this month.

Moreover, this may be something isolated on your store, based on some inappropriately sized tap targets, in other words some elements may use font sizes too small or paddings or margins that aren’t big enough on mobile screens.
So there isn’t anything wrong with the core CSS, it’s a matter of admin options reconfiguration.
Admin options essentially write CSS that display your elements in the storefront in the way you choose in the admin.
So changing admin options, like increasing a font size on a breakpoint rule, will basically rewrite your frontend CSS and thereby not trigger any alerts.

Hi, i was able to get trough google mobile tests by disable some blocks on phone device.
But still i want to use them. I did go trough all of the blocks, modules and extra’s and tried lots of font sizes, paddings, mobile wrappers etc. NOTHING worked ! And it’s very time consuming and very complex to work with that.
My rankings are already dropped, eval has happenend cause i was using the given settings from a standard Journal 3 theme, it takes a very long time to get your google rankings back.
Also for desktop i’m getting warnings from goole now: All pages have Cumulative Layout Shift problems.

But again, this isn’t a bug in the core theme, since all the CSS is coming from admin options. However those options are set will dictate the CSS rendered.
Hi DA, after the launch of journal 3 you have removed clear cache menu. I think you should re-enable it as not all of us have access to FTP and clear it manually. Also, it is more convenient to have it inside journal menu. Imagine every big change to log in to FTP and clear cache. Please consider it crucial in the next major update. Thank you.

After the Lighthouse update, the sites using the Journal (especially mobile) hit the bottom.
It draws my attention to the css codes that are not used as a reason and the html codes that are used abundantly to show single line text.
By creating Critical CSS, pages can be loaded faster, and a defer can be made for unused CSS codes. Studies can be done to reduce DOM size. At least 20k stores use Journal, and I think it’s very important.
