The Overlap options are included in the Row/Column Settings. Editing the image won’t affect the Overlap settings in the demo content.

However, when using a smaller image size, you may need to increase the distance to move it to the specific position. Also, you may need to select the Stack Order to make it always visible in front of another element.

You may need to add a gradient overlay to the top of the background image so it will have the same color as the section separator.

As seen in the images above, they have the black gradient color at the top.

There are 2 ways to add a gradient overlay to the footer background image.

1. Use the image editor software like Photoshop.

2. Or you can put a CSS snippet below to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS to add a gradient overlay to the footer background image:

The Overlap option in this theme allows the column to overlap another column in 4 directions (left, right, top and bottom) so you can create the image overlapping effect like in the page you provided.

However, we suggest to use our pre-defined layouts and pages that are included in the demo content. This to make sure they will look great on any screen sizes. You can find all pre-defined pages in our demo site: https://wydethemes.com/overlap/

You may need to change the “View” setting from “Overlap” to “Grid” or “Masonry” so you will be able to set the Post Count to show all projects.

Unfortunately, the settings in Theme Options are for category archive pages. To change the portfolio settings on your Portfolio page, you will need to edit the Portfolio Grid settings on your Portfolio page with the WPBakery Page Builder.

If it is less than 1.5, you will need to update the theme then you will get the latest update of WPBakery Page Builder (6.4.1).

If you are using the latest update of the Overlap theme (1.5), here are the instructions on how to update WPBakery Page Builder plugin to 6.4.1:

1. Navigate to Plugins screen on your WordPress admin.

2. Deactivate then delete the WPBakery Page Builder plugin.

3. After you delete it, you will see a notification message with the link to install the WPBakery Page Builder.

4. Click on “Begin installing plugins” to install the new version of WPBakery Page Builder. If the notification message was dismissed, navigate to Appearance -> Install Plugins.

The automatic update feature and the license activation will be disabled. You can normally use it without activation.
