1. Will this theme work with “Membership & Content Restriction – Paid Member Subscriptions” plugin so that only a few chapters are visible to public and rest chapters can be restricted from public and only accessible to members?
2. Is it possible to show the book categories as a filter on a page where all books will be shown?

1. Novela is an Easy Digital Downloads base theme. Not a WordPress one. Unfortunately, there is no such control over the book chapters.
2. A feature like that will require contacting a freelancer to implement it for you.
Is there a way to do custom sections that contain a set of chapters? E.g. Section A contains chapters 1 through 10, Section B, 11 – through 20 etc…
Hello, Unfortunately, there is no such option. Only chapters can be created. For expanding the theme features and capabilities we recommend contacting a freelancer to personalize the theme for you.

There is no version history for the theme. What is the current version and how often is it update? Also does it support WP 6.0.1?

Hello, the latest version is 1.32. Updates are released when there is a need for bugfixing – on average around once per 2 months. Yes, it supports WP 6.0.1.

1. Files cannot be used for the book preview. Text in the book preview is added via WYSIWYG field similar in how you add information for a blog post. You can add different chapters and add the information for them.
2. Yes, the theme is fully translatable and you can use Loco Translate for that.

The theme comes with dummy data that is inside an ”.xml” file in the dummy data folder – found in the archive you download from ThemeForest. You can install it from the Admin Dashboard > Tools > Import > WordPress (you will probably have to install it first) you can select the ”.xml” file in the “dummy data” folder and import it in the site. This will add some content similar to the one in the online demo (images won’t be added as they are copyrighted and we have no rights to sell them).
You will need to create a Page > New Page. And select the Front Page Template for it. Then you just add the sections you need. Or if you import the dummy file, it will create it for you together with all the sections from the demo.

When you create the frontpage, each section has a unique id field. It is used if you want to link to that section when clicking on a sidebar link. For example, if the id is ‘section-1’, you can link to it in the navigation menu using link with URL “http://yoursite.com/home#section-1”. Note: Don’t use intervals.

We have only added 3 pages in the demo. Otherwise you can add as much as you want. Each page is basically a chapter post where you can add content with the WYSIWYG editor, similar to how you add a blog post – https://imgur.com/a/Lpg1c6K .

When you create a front page, make sure you have selected the Front Page Template from the right sidebar in Page Attributes. Then you will see the specific content fields for the front page where you can add your content. Also in order to do this, make sure you have installed and activated all required plugins for the theme.
There is a dummy data folder in the archive you download from ThemeForest, where you can find a novela_dummy.xml file. It contains the elements of the Front Page from the Online Demo. You can Import it with the WordPress Importer in Tools > Import > WordPress.

The theme is made to be SEO optimized but we recommend installing the Yoast SEO plugin. It’s pretty mandatory for every WordPress installation.

Hello, I’ve realised that the same question has been asked some years ago – but I’m wondering, if the latest theme version supports a video background? If not, does a third party plugin (e.g. Revolution Slider) affect the use of the front page editor?
Also, is there a direct URL link to the book flipping page (I would like to include this URL in the menu, rather than having the user go through the “read the book” button which lies somewhere on the site)?

Easiest way to achieve that is to add some Custom CSS. You can add this in Novela Options > Custom CSS:

Got it. Would that flip multiple sections all at once? I’ve got multiple authors and I would like to alternate left/right stacked.

The above means the author section that comes as an element in fifth place in the DOM inside the .main-content. You can check that with the inspector tools (F12) of your browser and see for your author sections where they are.
