The text can be narrower than photo in any layout, you can go to Customize > Single > Single Post Layout > Content width > choose “Narrow”

Sorry to bother you, but I have a couple quick questions before buying the Newspaper theme. I looked through your other templates hoping to find an answer, but maybe I missed something.
First of all, if I have multiple authors, is there an author list widget/short code/other option included to propagate all of them in a grid/list automatically that will lead to their personal pages? On the demos I’ve only seen individual author pages linked from articles. If this isn’t part of the theme, I assume there might be plugins for this, but I wanted to check with you first.
Second, the article category dropdowns from the main header seem to be having problems loading with many of the demos. Any thoughts on that? I don’t believe it’s my internet since other sites with similar headers have been loading fine.
I have to say, I’m really excited by the Newspaper theme…it’s new, correct? I love the layout and think it will be a really good unique fit for my concept.

1/ Yes, it works for multiple authors. We have a lot of customers having blog/news site with many contributors and you can use either widget/elementor element to implement a page, block of authors. It’s a part of theme, we didn’t use any plugins.
2/ I’m on the go now but I’ll check later with the dropdown menu with 3 articles showing up. But don’t worry, it’ll work fine and they have been working fine so far. And if there’s any problem, I’ll fix it.
Thank you for your compliments. It means by a lot to me. Yes, Newspaper is a new one. In fact, it’s just a demo of The Fox theme and you can use any feature from other demos in this demo. The Fox is a very powerful theme.

I bought this theme based in the raving reviews and the fact that it used by some familiar news outlets. After installation, I found out that none of the beautiful demos (one of the reasons I bought the theme) can be edited in Elementor. Searching the comments and reviews, I found a comment from the theme developer confirming that. To me, this information must be stated clearly and openly on the main (Overview) page that is describing the theme features. For me the fact that now I am being forced to rebuild the demos myself in Elementor is a huge letdown. I am very disappointed, to say the least.

Of course, the theme comes with demos, templates.. so that you don’t need to build things from scratch. That’s the point of buying a theme. From our side, everything is still working normally.

Hello, I have removed/ HID settings for comment, aurthor and related posts settings and its still showing. How can i resolve?

1/ For components you disabled in the settings but still showing up, I need to see your backend to check it. Please open a ticket with your admin login, I’ll help you to check it.
2/ If you want to have different layouts, you can create different FOX Blocks. To clone a new FOX block, you can use this plugin. For instance, you create:
Template Single Event
Template Single Daily
so on. Then when create a new post, you can choose any of them.Is this more clear to you?

1/ Unfortunately, The Fox comes with a simple importing mechanism so there’s no way to reverting an importing process. You can only delete posts manually. If you wish to get back to Times III style, you can read this section to import Times III style only.
2/ The hand-drawn border or any theme feature is always global thing, not for one demo only. You can enable hand-drawn border for the Times III as well. Please go to Customize > DESIGN > Site Layout > Hand-drawn border.

2/ Yes, it’s possible. Are you talking about this layout?
It’s even much more possible if you use Elementor Builder for Single Post (a theme feature), though it’s unnecessary while the theme has built-in Layout 1b for that.

Two questions:
1) How do I change the format of the meta date shown on the “Post Big” element? right now it says 21/10/2022 whereas all other places display as “October 21, 2022”.
2) How to I exclude custom Fox Blocks from search results?

1/ If you have a child theme, please add this code into functions.php file
add_filter( 'fox_big_date_format', function($format){
return 'F j, Y';
});
Otherwise, if you don’t use a child theme, you can add that code into functions.php of the fox theme.
2/ We’ll exclude it from the search result in the next plugin version, you’ll see an update nag soon. It should be excluded. Thank you for your idea.

First of all, thank you for the theme!
Till recently I had no issues updating the theme. But I cannot do it from 4.9.1 to 5.0.3. Wordpress shows numerous errors – Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /var/www/admin/data/www/beobab.ru/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 173.

I believe this is a hosting file permission problem. You can search for this error to resolve this yourself, it depends on your case, or ask your hosting provider about this file permission problem.

Still it is a bit strange since I set file permissions myself (I am on a VPS server) and I have not had such issues before with the theme (and I have not made any changes in server settings for the site).

I have tried to change theme file permission to all public and access. Please help me to check if It’s ok now? I have no idea becasue Fox theme file permission was always the same so far. But we have just made it much “public” this time. Maybe the It’s being limited by some hostings (security levels), I guess.

I keep experiencing the same error. I have tried two ways of updating. The first – use my server admin panel to delete the fox directory and to upload and extract the archive with the theme. It always works. But not with the latest version. And what is interesting is that when I erase the Fox folder with 5.03 or 5.04 version and upload and extract the 4.9.1 archive – everything is back to normal and the theme functions again.
The second method that I use is to upload a new version through a Wordpress admin and substitute the older one with it. That also always worked but not with the latest version. I get numerous errors – Warning: chmod(): Operation not permitted in /var/www/admin/data/www/beobab.ru/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php on line 173 – and comments that file permissions are wrong and files in “wp includes” directory could not be written. Again this is strange since bringing back 4.9.1 version does not show any errors.

Normally, for this type of error It’s often the server directory problem. But I’ll try to see what’s wrong here.

I have found the solution. The problem was with permissions for the Fox folder. It is usually 755, but when I extract the archive to update the theme on my server the permission changes to 700. Don’t know why it happens. Changing this attribute for the folder back to 755 solves the issue.

I just tested the science (https://thefox.withemes.com/science/) for speed test and it is failing for core web vital test on mobile and also got B grade on GTmetrix.
This is a really important metric and want to know your thoughts.

Thank you for your interest. To get good score, you must optimize the website. There’s no themes that give you good score without optimization (for instance, if your site has 20MB header image then dispite of how good the theme is, you’ll never pass GTMetrix or Google Speed).
While we have many demos, we can only optimize a few of them as example about theme potential. Normally, we only take Times Writer demo as an example.
About Science, we have just optimized it so you won’t see it passes Core web vital because it’s a historical index in 28 days. But it’s grade A on GTMetrix now and 9x/100 on mobile/desktop now.
Similarly, we can do it for any demo and you can do it for your own site.

Hi there. Unfortunately, the import style option leads to trouble sometimes so we decided to remove it from the interface. Here’s the way you can import style only:
1/ Click to choose “Switch to manual” in your import screen page.
2/ Download the theme settings (ie. style) file. For instance, if you want to import Science, it’s here:

Change science to mazed for instance, if you want Mazed demo instead.
3/ Upload it in your manual importing screen.

Unfortunately, there’s no way to remove the link easily. But here’s a trick:
You can add following CSS code into Customize > Additional CSS:
.fox-meta-author {
position: relative;
}
.fox-meta-author:before {
content: "";
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
bottom: 0;
right: 0;
z-index: 20;
}
It’ll let your author link non-clickable from visitors.

2/ Middle is a different problem while we’ll need to decide where’s the middle, and it depends on your post structure and content. It’s too advanced for a theme can do so some dedicated ad plugins could help.

Wow, really like the look of your theme, looking for a minimal blog, seen various things I’d like but on different demo, does the theme options give me options to choose like say my header style and how I want the blog posts as I like the 3 row squares of John demo but love the text style of Pine. Thank you for your interest. Yes for your answer. If you see one thing in one demo then you can use it in any demo. In fact, each demo is just a combination of different options. So you can have John header style, 3 square grid and Pine fonts, or even Pine thumbnail-hover fashion.

Hi Cuong, first off amazing theme, mind blowing with the features in this, I nearly missed it too when looking themes and was all set on buying this other theme the other day, then with further research I discovered your great theme, so many choices for stuff and the speed of the theme totally sold me on this one.
So like my question yesterday, I chose to import Pine demo full content import but love to have my posts appear like John demo, they seem to make the blog list frontpage image as a square, I want to display my Pine blog in grid format as square images even though on their single blog post page the image may be a landscape image. is this a setting somewhere to show as a square on the homepage and in related posts as a square.

2/ Please go to Customize > BLOG > Post Item (Grid, Masonry,..) > Post Thumbnail then you can choose square there.
