I need to filter a specific model out of the Catalog->Modules->Product module I created and I need to use the “Latest” option under “Product Rules”. Advanced setting isn’t able to do what I need…I need to edit the sql query directly. Can you tell me the specific function and/or file I can look at to accomplish this. I can code it myself, I have just been unable to find the file to edit and I’ve been searching over three hours.

1. In Journal 2 that would be in Journal > Settings > Category Page > General > Products per Row…
2. Journal 3 is not compatible with Journal 2, it’s a complete redesign and recode so it would have to be treated as a new installation. If you decide to migrate we recommend Journal 3.2.

Let’s say I have two groups of products. One I want the general layout, but the other group I want to assign a layout that has no add to cart, question buttons, qty, etc. I’ve searched all over and don’t see how to apply two different layouts like that. I see I can assign a general layout design to a product, and have limited styling, but not like how I want. Is this possible? How?
Hi, it’s currently not possible to assign different product page styles on different products, that is global in nature.
However, each product page has a unique class on the html so you could write custom css to hide elements you don’t need on a particular page, please file a ticket on our support page and consult with our developers for more info on that.

Hello, I am studying your beta version and would like to know how to add a new variable in the beta version 3.2, similar to {{ $customer_firstname }}, for example, store name. I tried to write it in /catalog/controller/journal3/startup.php after line 179: $this->journal3_cache->set(‘config_name’, $this->config->get(‘config_name’)); And then I wrote the variable {{ $config_name }} in the file cache.php. Not all online store buyers have an email (old people don’t have an email). Please make the default email setting in the Journal settings. My technical support has ended.
Hi, removing email from the checkout system is not recommended, we do not have plans to add such feature in the future. If you are not familiar with Opencart coding please consult with an Opencart developer regarding how to add such feature to your store (probably adjustments are needed in catalog/controller/journal3/checkout.php file).

This is the function of the Journal theme! When submitting the Quick Checkout form (Journal), the email field is checked. If the email field is empty, an error is thrown. The theme does the checking, not OpenCart.
But that’s how the underlying Opencart system works, we adhere to how the default checkout works. Try the default theme and see how it works.
If you can get the default Opencart mechanism to work without email then you can do the same in the custom checkout. This is not recommended but you can consult with a developer about modifying the default Opencart mechanism to confirm that the concept works at the system level, then you can modify the custom one as well, we have provided the file path, however we cannot provide such core system modifications.

I’ve already done this myself. I assigned a specific email to all buyers (I hid it from buyers). Now the buyer does not need to enter an email at all. But a telephone is required. The buyer confirms his phone number via SMS. It’s a pity that you don’t make a default email in the theme settings.

I found it wierd that after so many years there is still a bug with short description: even if its disabled in product grid/list settings, still appears on category page. of course can be removed with a simple css code but… that’s not the point.

Hi, yes that is based on Journal but it has some custom modifications done on top, so can’t guarantee all functionality si 100% pure Journal, definitely the off-canvas menu and horizontal filter are custom built.

It depends on the option type and whether the option name needs to be visible or just the option image will suffice. Making use of the Journal push options styles is best if need them all in a constrained space and your options don’t need the name to be visible (which can be shown in a tooltip).

Hi, the changelog reflects the current official Journal 3.1 release available on Themeforest.
Journal 3.2 is still in a “release candidate” state while we iron out the last details of our new demo engine (color schemes + demo variants). It’s a matter of scaling now, but we can’t comment on a specific release date at this time, although anyone can use Journal 3.2 as is right now, currently at update 97 from our beta channel: https://www.journal-theme.com/beta-v32/
We support both 3.1 and 3.2 so if you have any issues just file a ticket on our support page.
We can’t outline any specific disadvantages in using 3.2 and we actually recommend it over 3.1 on unmodified stores. Exceptions are in cases where one might have modified their codebase or may be using custom extensions that were adapted to work with 3.1 and may need to be re-adapted for 3.2. But for fresh Opencart installations or regular updates on existing 3.1 stores you switch to 3.2 now.
When we do release 3.2 it will come alongside 3.1 so there will be two versions in the same package for some time, use whichever you want.

Hi, you may have modified the page split ratio in Journal > Styles > Product Page > [Active Style] > General > Page Split Ratio. You can choose a lesser width for desktop, like 40%. and then apply breakpoint rules as needed. 100% will display the image on top, details below.
