I noticed on my website that the main image is zoomed in by default on a single product page so parts of the images are getting cut off. The secondary thumbnail images show up fine (without zoom) when clicked. This is happening on desktop and mobile. How do I turn off the main image default zoom? See here: https://www.temporary-url.com/1A55B
Hey ehong33234,
It looks like the sizes of the images provided for the `Size` variations differ from the regular featured image. When the 3 ounce size variation is selected initially, the new image size loads and gets cropped because the original slider height calculations have already been performed. To resolve this, you can simply remove the images provided for your size variations, as they are the same as the featured image.
Kind regards
Does anyone know where to get a previous version of Salient? I want v16.4.0 which is the last release before 17.0. I need to go back to this stable version.
Hey rednosemonkey, we can provide any version of Salient if you reach via the contact form on our author page. Please note, however, that version 17 has been available for many months and includes numerous bug fixes for issues present in version 16, as well as compatibility with WordPress 6.7. If you’re using WordPress 6.7 with an older release, you may encounter warnings.
I found some old downloads in my bin, and tried uploading them to the dev site to see where it broke. 17.0 was fine. The latest one is the only version I had since 17.0, and so I know it broke somewhere after 17. I had no plugins installed to test so interesting that I am the only person where 17+ removes the Salient menu, and breaks the CSS. Not entirely surprised though. Anyway, I will stay with 17.0
Hey rednosemonkey, have you tried to download the latest version (17.0.4) again to ensure the version you had was not somehow corrupted? I’m glad that you have everything working now, but if you would like to follow up with this further, feel free to reach out via email or the support forum.
Kind regards

any help is greatly appreciated? or if something needs to be turned on from my host please let me know?
Hey fiftyonefifty,
Do you have a custom slug specified in the Salient options > Portfolio > Functionality tab? If so, have you tried to remove it? It sounds like something in your setup is resetting the WP permalink rules periodically. Please open a ticket on the support forum in regards so that we can follow up with this.

Hi there. How can I hide the date in the Portfolio Loop Builder plz?! I just wanna display name and category.
Hey kayota,
In the Post Loop Builder element settings, there’s a tab called “Meta Data” which can toggle that: https://ibb.co/hRpQ3f2

Hello,
I need your help with 2 things. Both are related to the Canvas Menu. https://shorturl.at/yNvgr
1 – The menu items on the left have more space in underlined animation than on the right (desktop view). How can I fix this? 2 – Possible to have a gap / split the left menu into two? For example, space below Revive and above Stay?
Hey asingh2404,
You can make that change by adding the following snippet into the custom CSS box located in the Salient options panel > General Settings > CSS/Script related tab: https://pastebin.com/r3WxFQMG
Kind regards
Hi, thanks a lot. The code fixed for me the 2. One last question – on the web view why the menu are so far apart. The one I assigned as my canvas is left, and the ones I drop in the widget canvas are on the right. They look neat on mobile, but too far apart in web. Any way to fix this or something I did wrong?
Kind regards.
Hey asingh2404,
The Off Canvas layout that you’re using is a 2 column layout for the desktop viewport. You can shrink the container size to move the sections closer together if desired:
@media only screen and (min-width: 1000px) {
body #slide-out-widget-area.fullscreen-split .inner>.container {
max-width: 900px;
}
}
body #slide-out-widget-area.fullscreen-split .right-side {
justify-content: flex-start;
}
Perfect, it works!
Glad that I could help, asingh2404
Hi support,
Is it possible to switch the ranking of the social media icons? For example, automatically it put instagram first and next Linkedin, can we switch that?
Looking forward hearing from you!
Hey Jeanineverheugt!
That can be achieved through CSS or by a modification in your child theme functions.php. Can you kindly share your website URL so that I can take a look at your settings?
Thanks in advance
Hi Support, the website is www.socialbt.nl. We already searched in the theme CSS but couldn’t find it. If you would let us know where to find, that would be amazing.
Thanks Jeanineverheugt, there’s password protection on that URL – could you temporarily make it public?
Kind regards
I use Woocommerce > Carousel > flickity elements. How do I change the background color to white and change the arrow color to black on the next previous button? https://pasteboard.co/e1M26RFPTEjS.png
sorry, I mean how do I change the circle background color fom white to blue and change the arrow color from black to white on the next previous button?
Hey shaky512,
That would require a CSS customization as the WooCommerce carousel element does not provide custom coloring options for the controls. If you would like assistance with that, feel free to open a ticket on the support forum.
Kind regards
I feel stupid asking this, but where on earth has the Salient menu item in Wordpress disappeared to?
Hey rednosemonkey,
The Salient options menu in the WP admin has not changed to reside in a new location. If you’re not seeing it in the sidebar and your account has admin privileges, something might be wrong with your installation. Feel free to open a ticket on the support forum in regards so that we can follow up.
There is no longer a Salient menu in the Wordpress dashboard, so I cannot edit the settings. I have turned off every plugin apart from woocommerce and the 2 required salient plugins. Salient is the active theme and the page shows just fine. But there is just no Salient menu. After years of using the plugin I’d rather not pay for support to ask this question and I hope that someone from the community can help.
Since no known issues have been reported, and we haven’t received any recent reports of similar occurrences, we would need to take a closer look at the backend to assist with troubleshooting further.
Hi guys, i can’t update!
Same problem as a few users. Uploading the theme through wordpress “upload theme”. It just stalls. I tried on Firefox and now on chrome, turned off all plugins, deactivated theme, even tried to have another theme in place while i upload but no luck. Probably something you guys should look into…
Hey Wobblefin! We haven’t received any recent reports of issues with updates. If you haven’t set up the Envato Market plugin to handle updates via the WordPress dashboard, it’s possible that your PHP server settings don’t meet the necessary requirements for uploading the theme file directly—specifically, the `upload_max_filesize` and `post_max_size` parameters. https://themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/#troubleshooting
Kind regards
Hi! When do you plan to update WP Bakery? 7.8 has been released in July and lacks the feature introduced in 7.9 to disable the “scroll-to-element” function (which is simply horrible). Cheers!
Hey bmourey!
We were waiting on the WPBakery developers to release an update to address the regression which v8.0 caused which prevented colors from being unassigned after they were added. They introduced a new color picker into the core, and its UX created several problems. Now that this has been recently addressed, we’ve been working on the integration and should have it completed soon.
I know that Salient and Nectarblocks are two independent products with different features, but I was curious if it’s possible to replicate the scroll effect on the about page of the Nectarblocks template – Phoenix Falls using Salient? Could you possibly use the portfolio scroll effect used in the new Salient template – Portfolio Layered? If not, would you recommend using both Salient and Nectarblocks on the same website build or is that even possible? Please advise.
Hey nicolec3,
The Post Loop builder in Salient offers an effect is similar to that page, when using the “Stack” display type. However, you would need to be querying for posts/projects with that instead of animating other custom content on the page. If you need to create a similar scrolling effect with custom content, I would recommend using the Sticky Content Sections element set to “Sticky Scroll Pinned Sections”.
Also, yes, you can use both Salient and the Nectarblocks plugin on the same website if desired.
Kind regards
Hi,
First of all – loving the theme, been using it for years and I keep recommending it to my clients too. Great work!
I’m struggling to figure out how to customise the header area within the product category section, if I go and visit your demo https://themenectar.com/salient/ecommerce-robust/product-category/skincare/ – I can see a header title which is ‘Skincare’, and then a description underneath.
When I try to achieve this by customizing the ‘category’ section, the only thing I can do is add an image, and the header, so I can’t find the way to add the subheader to it. Alternatively I tried creating a blank page, and then adding the woocommerce products to it, but that for some reason is skipping the filter and sorting functionality of woocommerce. Not sure if there’s a way of adding them?
Thanks Bart
Hey Bart! I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying the theme
When editing a category, you can also enter a description as shown here: https://ibb.co/fXw49GZ
To display it inside of the category header, you ensure that your “Product Category Description” is set to “Inside of Header” in the Salient options > WooCommerce > Archive header tab.
Kind regards
Ahhh!! That’s the one place where I didn’t look, and exactly what was needed!
Great stuff, thanks a lot for this.
Keep up the great work! Cheers!
Thanks, dephixeb1! I’m glad I could help
Hey guys,
Im getting a very strange problem, I cant update or install any plugins. The error that Im getting on all my plugins is: An error occurred while updating Contact Form 7: Could not create directory. I have checked the file permissions and they are all correct (755) aswell as the space on my server – which there is more than enough. Do you know what the problem could be? putterapparel.com
Hey richardwells, that does not seem like an error which could be related to Salient – have you verified that it only occurs when Salient is your active theme?
Kind regards

Hi there, is there a way to install my own custom font to load in the template? Thanks.
Hey schil79,
Yes, you can use the plugin Use Any Font to sync custom fonts into the Salient options > Typography settings.
Kind regards
Thank you!
You’re welcome, schil79
Hi,
I have a question: Is it possible to turn off the Salient Templates and My Templates options in WP Bakery Builder for one user?
Regards, Mark
Hey Mark,
You can globally disable the Salient Template Library through the Custom Branding plugin, which is now included in v17+ of Salient.
However, if you want to keep the library available for all users except one and also need to hide ‘My Templates,’ you would need to achieve this through a child theme modification.
If you would like assistance with that, feel free to open a ticket on the support forum in regards
Cheers
That was really helpful, thank you. I hadn’t tried that Custom Branding option previously.
You’re welcome, Mark
Hello,
I like your demo “Layered”. I want to use it. When I click on a portfolio page (ex: https://themenectar.com/salient/portfolio-layered/portfolio/spectral/), I see a type of presentation.
Is it possible to change that type of presentation of a project? The “year/client/type”, I would like it to be presented totally different. Is it possible or I will be “stuck” with this style? Thank you.
Hey matvej,
Yes, the single project content is completely editable through the page builder.
Kind regards
Can you tell me how to turn on filters or a dropdown option for the main shop page on a mobile browser? We have the option to filter by product category on a desktop browser but on mobile it doesn’t give any filter or dropdown option. Would like to give mobile users an option to view products by category, thanks!
Hey ehong33234,
The same filters which exist in the WooCommerce sidebar widget area should also be available on mobile: https://ibb.co/NTQJY3H
Can you kindly share your website URL so that I can take a look at your settings?
Thanks in advance
Hmm, mine are not showing in mobile safari or chrome. You can see the page here: https://www.temporary-url.com/F4102F
Hey ehong33234,
Can you confirm that you have the option Add “Filter” Sidebar Toggle enabled in the Salient options > WooCommerce tab?
Kind regards
Yes, I confirmed this is enabled. Here is a screenshot of the rest of the settings in Salient > Woocommerce in case it helps, thank you. https://file.io/58CCM7fyIeEY
Furthermore, I would like our shop main page to have the sorting options “hide filters” “default sorting” as shown on your demo. How can we do this? https://themenectar.com/salient/ecommerce-robust/product-category/skincare/
Hey ehong33234,
1. I would suspect that something else in your setup is modifying the markup on your shop pages then. Have you tried to disable all third-party plugins to check for any conflicts?
2. Those filters are added by default WooCommerce and not something that needs to be enabled. Similar to #1, I would start by checking for plugin conflicts and if you can’t locate the issue, feel free to open a ticket on the support forum in regards
hi, we have a web design agency.
one of the services we’d like to offer are templates that we design with salient for a specific niche.
would this be allowed if every purchase from a client results in a single regular license purchase of the salient template?
ex. whenever someone purchases a template, our team will purchase a license for salient for them to use on their site, we’d just be customizing it to match the template we designed.
Hey hoatbui,
That seems to fall under regular license usage, provided a separate license is purchased for each project. To ensure the use case complies with Envato’s license terms, I recommend reaching out to them directly at https://help.market.envato.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Kind regards
Hello!
After purchase, we can build something that’s exactly like your demo homepage?
https://themenectar.com/salient/With the elements and everything that’s included in the theme after purchase, we can replicate the exact same sections and effects and design? Is your homepage built using salient? I mean, https://themenectar.com/salient/ Is in fact Salient?
Also, Salient is multisite compatible? If not, is it something that’s on your roadmap to implement in a scheduled update?
Thank you!
Hey avrcata!
Yes, the main landing page for Salient is indeed built using Salient
However, we don’t include that page as a pre-made demo. Salient is also multisite compatible.
Kind regards
