Hello,
I currently have Phox theme for wordpress and WHMCS, however WHMCS is updated and the theme is not up to date and creating issues. Is there a update for WHMCS theme? or expected update.
thanks
Hello Infinitynoob, please open a ticket with your issue so we can help you. https://wdes.org
Hello,
Before proceeding with purchase, we would like to confirm whether your WHMCS template is fully aligned with the modern domain lookup architecture introduced in WHMCS 8.x and later (including v9.x).
WHMCS 8.x+ introduced registrar-based availability checks, where domain searches should trigger the configured registrar module via API instead of relying on legacy WHOIS lookups.
Current Issue Observed (In all Theme Deployments)
Our current deployment appears to follow this workflow:
User Search (Theme Layer) ↓ WHMCS Domain Lookup Controller ↓ Legacy WHOIS Lookup ↓ WHOIS Server Query ↓ Availability Result
This indicates that:
The registrar module (Dynadot / Dynabot) is not triggered
WHMCS does not perform registrar API checks
Searches rely exclusively on WHOIS server responses
As a result:
Registrar pricing is not retrieved dynamically
Registrar-specific TLDs may appear unsupported
API-based domain suggestions do not function
Availability checks are slower and less reliable
WHMCS Recommended Architecture (Expected Behaviour)
The correct modern architecture should be:
User Search ↓ WHMCS Domain Lookup Controller ↓ Registrar Module ↓ Dynadot API ↓ Availability + Pricing Response
Our Questions
Does your template fully support WHMCS 9 registrar-based domain lookup?
Does it use the native WHMCS Domain Lookup Controller without overriding it?
Does it support registrar API availability checks (not legacy WHOIS fallback)?
Has it been tested with Dynadot / custom registrar modules under WHMCS 9?
Does it interfere with /domain/check or /domain/suggest endpoints?
Are any AJAX overrides or theme-level lookup handlers used?
Is the template compatible with AI or registrar-driven domain suggestion features?
Whats support structure in place (Staffed or Solo) and turn around time ?
Hi rgraham3767,
Before I start to answer your question, I need to clarify some points. Are you talking only about the theme with the domain search tool or the WHMCS template?
Hello,
Thank you for your response.
To clarify, our question is primarily about the WHMCS template and its domain lookup implementation, rather than the WordPress theme itself.
However, since your product appears to support both WordPress integration and a WHMCS template, we would also like to understand how the system behaves when used with or without a WHMCS Bridge.
Our infrastructure uses WHMCS 9.x, where domain availability checks are expected to follow the modern registrar-based lookup architecture. In this model, domain searches should trigger the configured registrar module via API rather than relying on legacy WHOIS queries.
For this reason, we would like to confirm that the WHMCS template included with your theme:
• Uses the native WHMCS Domain Lookup Controller • Does not override /domain/check or /domain/suggest endpoints • Does not rely on legacy WHOIS lookup methods • Allows registrar modules (e.g., Dynadot / Dynabot API) to perform availability checks • Supports API-driven domain suggestions and registrar pricing retrieval
In other words, we want to ensure the template acts purely as a presentation layer, while the actual lookup process remains registrar-API driven through WHMCS.
Additionally, we would appreciate clarification on the WordPress integration aspect:
Does the theme require WHMCS Bridge when used alongside WordPress, or can WHMCS operate independently (for example on a subdomain such as portal.example.com) while WordPress is used only for the marketing site?
If WHMCS Bridge is used, does it interfere with or proxy the domain lookup endpoints such as /domain/check or /domain/suggest?
Have both the WHMCS template and WordPress integration been tested with WHMCS 9.x registrar-API based lookups?
Are any custom AJAX lookup handlers or theme-level domain search scripts used, or does the template rely entirely on the standard WHMCS lookup functions?
This information will help us determine compatibility with our deployment before proceeding with the purchase.
Thank you for your clarification.
Best regards
Hi rgraham3767,
Thank you for the clarification. To address your questions:
Regarding the WHMCS template, it acts purely as a presentation layer and does not override or interfere with the native WHMCS Domain Lookup Controller, /domain/check, or /domain/suggest endpoints. It does not use any custom AJAX or theme-level domain search handlers — all lookup logic remains handled entirely by WHMCS through its standard functions.
Regarding the WordPress integration:
- WHMCS Bridge is fully optional and not recommended. You do not need it. - WHMCS can run completely independently — not just on a subdomain (e.g., portal.example.com) but also on an entirely separate domain if preferred. WordPress would simply serve as your marketing site with no dependency on WHMCS. - Since we do not recommend using WHMCS Bridge, we cannot confirm how it behaves with domain lookup endpoints.
A couple of additional points to be transparent:
- We test on a standard WHMCS environment only, without additional third-party registrar add-ons such as Dynadot/Dynabot. We cannot guarantee behaviour specific to custom registrar modules. - Support is solo-staffed with a maximum 24-hour response time. Non-emergency tickets may include 1 day off.
This setup should align well with your WHMCS 9.x registrar-based architecture. We are confident the theme will meet your needs — feel free to go ahead with the purchase. If you face any issues within the first 30 days, simply reach out and we will process a refund without any hassle.

Presale question: Will this work with WHMpress?
Regarding compatibility with WHMpress, we recommend checking directly with the plugin developer to confirm whether it will work properly with our product, as they can provide the most accurate compatibility details.
