My site was hacked a couple of weeks ago so I decided to revamp/rebuild it (with a new theme, hence the purchase). Unfortunately there isn’t a lot to look at in the temp menu I have applied to the live site. If you look at www.dotrythisathome.com you’ll see that the Do Try This logo looks fine when there is only a single ‘Home’ item in the nav bar. However, when I apply a different menu (with 4 or 5 items) the top nav bar extends left and virtually touches the logo, and it looks untidy.
So, what I want to do is shift the DTTAHome logo further to the left to avoid this happening.

If that’s the case I would recommend that you either make your logo smaller or change you navigation items wording or positioning (more sub nav items) to allow everything to fit nice. If for whatever reason you would prefer to just move the logo over to the left still, paste this snippet into your Custom CSS box in the theme options panel:
header#top #logo {
margin-left: -50px;
}
Adjust the margin as needed.

Is your logo not aligning correctly with the edge? If you make your logo have zero extra space on the left it should align perfectly

The credit text on the slide is actually not a standard feature of the slider itself and was only added to give thanks to the awesome people who allowed me to use their images. I would recommend just adding any credit text you have directly into your image. Currently, the slider image position is a little bit imprecise due to the parallax effect, but I have made the positioning much more consistent and you will notice that in the next update.

Can you tell me how you did exactly? My website has to be finished on wednesday and so it’s quite urgent…thanks in advance
olide4, I meant to literally create the image with the text on it inside of a graphic editing program such as Photoshop
but with the automatic resizing how can I manage for it to be visible?
In v1.3, which will be available to download soon, the slider image position is much more accurate and if you placed your desired text at the bottom, it should always be visible. If you need help with this please just file a ticket on the support forum and I’ll be happy to lend a hand

Hi, thanks again for a great theme. I’m having a few issues I hope you can help me with.
1. When adding a link to an icon, a bottom padding appears. How can I get rid of it? (example: the large map marker icon on http://kometproduktion.se/)
2. Another link related issue, if I add a link to a carousel item it jumps a few pixels to the right upon hovering. (example: all the clients on http://www.kometproduktion.se/kunder/)
3. The tags on single portfolio pages does not have support for foreign languages. (example: the tag says dokumentar instead of dokumentär http://www.kometproduktion.se/uppdrag/uppdrag-granskning/)
4. When unhovering a portfolio item, the black buttons leave a trail of lines behind. I can’t remember this being in the last update. (example: http://i46.tinypic.com/xkvy3m.jpg)
5. On mobile devices: When scrolling the down the portfolio it’s hard not to touch an portfolio item. And every time you accidentally touch one of them it activates the hover effect. Is it possible to disable the hover effect on mobile devices?

Great theme but run into a few problems. The naming of the ‘Recent Work’ and Blog doesn’t seem to work, actually, renaming the recent work renames the blog posts. Also the slug for portfolio items won’t work either (and I saved permalinks page). Thanks.

1. It’s just the home template that displays both recent work and recent posts that this bug is found on. It has already been corrected and the fix for it is going to be included in the next update (It will be available to download with 2 days).
2. The portfolio slug has been verified to work correctly, so I would need you to provide me with your link and login credentials to investigate why you’re having issues with it. Please open a ticket on the support forum and we can get started

First of all I love the theme it’s perfect and I love the layout. One thing I noticed it’s not possible to scroll on IE on Windows Phone, and I think it might be because of the custom scroll bars. It keeps jumping up when trying to scroll down, is there a way to deactivate those custom bars ? Im sorry if the question was already asked and answered.

Are you using the most recent version of salient? This was a known issue in the past so the current version disables the custom scrollbar in mobile.

1) Portfolio Sort: After the upgrade, portfolio sort has stopped working. On click, it goes to the main portfolio page 2) Portfolio video is not working on Firefox and IE. On Firefox, I see the video bar and hear sound. On IE, I only see a white box 3) I have changed theme color but on IE, it still shows default color

I’m having a little trouble with the blog.
The main blog page displays all of the content for each post. I can’t get it to show a summary or excerpt with the read more button.
In Settings > Reading > I have it set to Summary Also don’t see any setting in the theme options.

Okay, I’m invested in making this the best Wordpress theme on the planet. So after about 8hrs of getting into it, here’s the critique I have, so far and what needs some relatively minor tweaks to the UI:
1/ LinkedIn logo in the Footer Options is essential. Annnd, possible to click on the link and have them pop into different tabs, or new window… maybe it’s an option in the backend?
2/ When Disqus comments plugin is installed.. all around the site it continually says “0 Comments and 0 Reactions” even when there are comments posted with Disqus.
If you can’t get Disqus to play nice with the layout, can you please make a function to switch off the “0 Comments and 0 Reactions” altogether? And for the time being, can you direct me to the code so I can delete it in my version of the theme? Both for the blog page, and the home page with blog posts please-and-thank-you! Here’s examples of what I’m getting that’s all goofy>> http://frominfinity.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Screen-shot-2013-04-18-at-12.11.24-AM.png http://frominfinity.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Screen-shot-2013-04-18-at-12.17.48-AM.png3/ The little <3 heart icon to show your love and appreciation for the blog post is cute, but it’s not really useful in respect to extending the social reach of the post. Can you please have an option to switch it off and instead replace it with a Tweet This, Facebook Like, G +1? In exactly the same place, they would fit so so well into the layout, and would be really useful to spread the post across social media.
4/ The mobile and tablet version of the UI leave a little to be desired. They work well, but are lacklustre, and the animation is a bit choppy (iPhone 5 and iPad 2). Also, no search bar… so saaad. Um, can you kinda, um, copy 99u’s (http://99u.com) mobile UI? It’s perfect in every detail! The Font is big and easy to read, it has search bar, it animates really smoothly and quick, and when you touch away it disappears really nicely.
4.5/ +BONUS POINTS FOR THIS ONE+: iPad and tablet version of the top UI interface… it doesn’t really need to be reduced to the phone 3 line drop-down. It would be a whole lotta-awesomesauce if it was like the full scale version of the site’s top bar. I know it’s probably a lot of work on your end… buuuut, Salient is sooo close to being the king of WP templates… just accept your kingliness and make it puuurfect. Again, refer to http://99u.com, they nailed it.
5/ Blog >> Please make a way cool option to have the blog layout be like Pinterest! It would take Salient out of the only-for-portfolio-website-people category and move it into a network hub and media channel expanded category, which is what I want for my website and where I am going with my brand.
6/ Home Slider Call to Action button looks beautiful but when it has a very textured background image, it can difficult to read. Can we have an option to have it be 60-80% tinted? Here’s what I mean: http://frominfinity.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Screen-shot-2013-04-18-at-12.58.28-AM.png
7/ The static call to action option that is at the bottom of all the pages is AWESOME! Can we take it a step farther, and have an option to upload our own banner image behind it? I’d like to add more punch to it and make it a little more ad banner-like but with elegance.
8/ Blog “Read More” button is inserted into the blog post (“More” tag), the button looks great!… but when I click on it, it jumps to the centre of the post, half way down the page, rather than going to the top of the page. Does this on my browsers, iPhone and iPad.
9/ When I save my website to an icon on my iPhone or iPad, can you make it fancy and auto save the logo as the icon?! (y’know rather than the rather dull looking screen capture of the home page)…
…Aannnd That’s it!

Thank you so much for writing such a detailed analysis of the theme. I truly do appreciate all of your suggestions and here’s what I think:
1. LinkedIn logo is actually already included, you must be on an earlier version. Try upgrading if you do not see an option for that. However,you are correct is saying target=”_blank” should be on all the social links. I will indeed add this is the next release!
2. I will see what I can do to make Disqus comments play nicer with the theme.
3. Additional social media sharing options are scheduled for development in a future release. It’s definitely something I can see the desire for
4. Search on mobile is also scheduled to be added in a future version.
5. I have played with the idea of adding a masonry style layout and if it’s not added as a future option I have agreed to make sure it’s apart of my next theme.
6. Yes, the button layout was intended to be used over a darker area of a picture. Perhaps I could adjust it in the future to allow an option for a semi transparent background to help visibility more, but as of now it requires you to actually plan your slider images accordingly.
7. I’ll note this, but I would ideally like to hear others request it as well
8. The more button is linking you to the section in the post which you haven’t read yet. I.e the section that comes directly after where you placed the more tag. This is standard WordPress functionality.
9. I’ll look into this
