Hi there,
When I add the linkedin URL to the icon, it opens with my domain name/my linkedin URL and the page does not open. Any idea on how to fix this?

As it states in the footer options header, “Remember to include the http:// in any URLs!”
If you don’t add the http:// to the beginning of your URL, the browser will interpret it as a relative link within your site. The http:// will force it to be an external link and open correctly

1. You can find them by clicking on the “N” icon in your editor in the visual tab.
2. You need to install the plugin Contact form 7, create a form and place the shortcode on the page.
3. There is no built in function to alter the footer columns, that would require some CSS modifications.

You’re in the salient options panel, you need to click on the “N” icon in your editor when you create/edit a page, not the “N” on your left-hand menu. See this screenshot from the theme description for clarification

1 more question though, can i add sub heading, i have a nice centered heading from the short codes with regular text underneath it but can i create heading (left outlined) in this subtext to specify a new paragraph which is smaller than the centered heading but larger than the regular text (or maybe bold in the same style/color) ?

The new Twitter/Facebook integration – it takes the page url to share, I have a plugin that creates my custom short url. what must I do to unify the theme feature to use the short url plugin or edit the theme to pull the short link automatically?
Also, the twitter logo you’ve used for this feature it out of date. Twitter re-designed the bird. It’s now the same one you use on the footer.

First, thank you for the best theme I’ve seen on Themeforest.
2 things though.
1. Im having trouble installing the language files. I’ve done this before and it has never been a problem. In this case the theme reverts back to english as default, like if the .po or.mo was missing.
2. It looks stunning in Firefox and Chrome but IE cant handle the removal of slider text, it keeps the text background, the black even though the text has been removed. Latest work is also not centered.
Since it works flawless with FF och Chrome I’d like to think that IE is inferior in every way, which almost always is the case

You just have to redownload the theme from ThemeForest, delete the old one (as long as you haven’t modified files) and upload the new. All of your content and theme settings will remain the same.
Be sure to go through the options panel once you upgrade though as there are many new options available

You could do it either with FTP or directly through the admin panel, yes

Can you tell me how you’ve done the 4 column layout on the home page where the icons / titles / body text are? I’ve used Shortcodes for columns / icons and Heading – problem is that it adds a line at the bottom of each column and body text doesn’t look the same. thanks

Firstly let me start with WOW, absolutely beautiful! The theme is so clean and well presented.
The issue I have with my current website is that in the portfolio area I cant break up my work and upload each work individually, even if one work may have more images to it, they have to go in separately.
Lets say for example I have a piece of work that has more then one image, currently I have to upload each image as a separate work. The user has to click in and out of each image making it very messy and large (the portfolio section) this is because each image is a featured image.
In other words I cant have a featured image, and then once the viewer clicks on “more details”, it take them to a new page where I have more images that are related to that work.
Now for the question: Does your template allow in the portfolio section when clicking on “more details” to take the viewer to a new page that has the related works on it, as well as a small description?

The more details page of the portfolio section allows you many possibilities:
1. Display the same featured image as you set for the thumbnail larger.
2. Display video.
3. Display a gallery of images in a slider.
4. Display whatever you want using the extra content editor to stack unlimited content like a blog post. See the link below for an example. Also, all of these options include a sidebar for your short description and you can toggle the stickiness of it in the options panel

One other question I have is I saw you have a price ‘table page’. Does this mean the site can be made into shipping cart as well? So I could potentially sell some of my designs?
1.There is an extensive user guide included that should help you get going with everything, yes.
2.There is no built in ecommerce capabilities, that would require a plugin or embedding paypal buttons etc.
Any plugins that you would recommend that would work well with your template?
As of now, there is no official support for any ecommerce plugins, but perhaps there will be in a future release

1. Yes, the contact map supports up to 10 locations! You add more by click the + at the bottom of the contact options tab in the Salient options panel.
2. Go to Settings >Reading and change your “Posts page” to your blog page

Hey! Great theme, I love it. Quick question about the blog/posts that I’m having a problem with. When I try and make a post, it automatically sets the url of that post to my about page (www.example.com/about) which then messes up the actual about page that I’ve made. I want the posts to be directed to my blog page but can’t seem to change the URL that it automatically sets. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

Love the theme! Maybe a dumb question, but when I add an image to the home slider, it seems to align higher than I’d like, sometimes cutting off the top of the image I’m using. If I try to resize the image height to match the slider height I’ve specified in the Salient menu, the image still aligns high, leaving a black gap at the bottom.
Is there a trick to getting the home slider image to align a little lower?

By default even without plugins, the theme is very SEO friendly
Take note of the clean page titles on the top left-hand corner of your browser on every page in the demo: http://themenectar.com/demo/salient/, these are generated without you having to do anything. All of the best coding standards & practices have been used in every aspect throughout the theme as well. Some of the buyers who have been brave enough to dive into the code themselves have also complimented the cleanliness and optimization
All in all, you’re already set as soon as you activate the theme, but you could also use plugins in combination to optimize it even further with custom meta descriptions etc.

In the download package i didn’t get the contact form 7 plugin and news letter plugin. i manually downloaded the contact form 7 plugin from wordpress.org. i installed the plugin successfully am getting the map but am not getting the contact form?? please do help me..

There won’t be a contact form that automatically appears when you install the plugin. You have to go the plugin (the contact tab on the left menu) and create a form catered to your needs, it’s super simple! Then paste the shortcode it gives you on the contact page and it will display

1. Go to Settings > Reading and toggle the “Front page displays” to “A static page” and choose your home page.
2. Add more portfolio items by clicking on the Portfolio tab in your left-hand menu and clicking “Add New”.
3. Inside of the Salient options panel (the “N” icon on your left-hand menu) there is a contact options tab which contains all of the map settings.
Can I use my custom Icons on the home page?

You could add your own icons in a custom way which would involve embedding images into the editor or creating classes and making rules for them in CSS with your icons as background images.

The current icons are actually being generated from a font file, (font awesome) and are not images you can readily replace. The whole system to get them all in the generator is built with loops and wouldn’t be simple to try and add your own icons into either.

In portfolio page i want to get rid of view large option when you mouse over.. i just need more details there.. how can i do this? and once you go to the more details pages you will see the big image i don’t want that image i just that image to be replace with my content there.. right now content is coming right side i want that to be on top of the comment box… Thanks

Love the theme three questions – one which I sent earlier directly to you but didn’t hear back on
1) Is it possible to have the slider images stretch dynamically to fit the full width of the browser?
2) I note on pages that have only a small amount of content, and therefore don’t have any scrolling required, the fancy scroll-bar corridor on the right remains, but the scroll bar itself doesn’t actually display (i.e. the footer ends where the scroll bar would usually be). Is there anyway to have the scroll-bar permanently there, or alternatively, have it so that at least when the scroll bar isn’t required, the footer bar extends the full width of the page (note you can see this effect by simply going to your preview site and zooming out in your browser)
3) My logo is quite long – 425px to be exact – but I note the clickable area only extends half-way along this space (i.e. the right side of the logo isn’t clickable) – I tried adjusting this in the css but with no luck – able to point me in the right direction?
Whilst 1 isn’t critical, the other two are kind of biggies – if you can assist here, I would be most appreciative

1. They have to remain in a fixed position while the parallax effect is active to maintain the smoothest scrolling possible in all browsers.
2. I have already taken care of this and the fix for it will be included in the next release.
3. Paste this into your custom CSS box:
