Great theme! I was just wondering how hard it is to add social networks in the footer? As a programmer im missing Stackexchange and Github etc..
Hey Glennvd!
You could create new ones manually with relative ease if you’re comfortable making the icons yourself. However, I am always open to requests for additions and I think those are perfectly reasonable for me to just add into the theme as options. I’ll make sure to get them in the next release which will be out within a couple days
Cheers
Are you planning new Updates? Is ajax commenting a possible new feature? Thanks!
Hey andrelug!
I have been working on the next update for a little bit now. I will consider that feature if it gets enough requests
I purchased this theme, it is working okay so far. I like the design but am having some functionality issues.
1) The portfolio slug was changed on our page and I’m not sure if that was the issue but now ALL of our portfolio items go to 404 even when previewing the page from the backend.
2) Is there a way to make custom sidebars for each page? Am I missing that?
Thanks in advance.
Respectfully, Pierce Colman
Hey Pierce,
1. You need to resave your permalinks, if that doesn’t solve the issue open a ticket on the support forum with your info and I’ll take a look.
2. You have one sidebar area that shows up on all of the pages with the sidebar layout, you can use a plugin like “Widget logic” to display certain widgets on specific pages if you need to.
Hi, i’ve been using Salient Theme weeks ago and I have to say the theme and support are excellent.
Anyways, I miss some things i would like to share. Maybe you can implement them in future updates, or not. They are just ideas.
1) Related posts, pages and portfolios. I know I can do this with a plugin, but they don’t look as great as the theme.
2) Share buttons for pages. I’ve edited my theme, but I think this should be included by default.
3) A portfolio page without sidebar.
4) A page with a left sidebar.
Well, I know you have a lot of work and can’t make everything. This are just a few ideas…
Hey 01010111!
Thanks for being respectful and understanding how much I have on my plate at the moment.
I will consider your requests for future updates
Hello, This template works for retaina display ? If no, how to do ?
Hey Wiztivi,
Most of the theme behaves nicely on retina phones, but the footer social media icons weren’t made for retina. If you want to use your own retina icons for that, you’d have to add your images instead and modify the CSS to accommodate.
This might be a silly question, but I’m new with wordpress, i have used joomla. http://lion4design.com/ as you can see I have WIDGET AREA 1,2,3,4. but in the widget settings they doesn’t exist, how do i get rid of them?
Hey Dennis-Lien, thanks for purchasing the theme!
In Appearance > Widgets you can drag and drop widgets into those areas on the right side (the text you see is just placeholder text) or you can choose to deactivate that entire area in the Salient options panel in the “Footer Options” tab
Thanks, I feel a bit a noob now!
Haha, no worries!
Hey guys great theme, my friend who purchased it showed me all the cool features it has. There is one thing he wasn’t sure of, is it possible to make the icon shortcodes clickable? The effect is so once clicked it takes you to a designated page.
Hey mikesmidysmith,
yes it is
just by wrap it in a link standard html link in the text tab.
Really nice theme! I’d love to use this, but with great pain in my heart I switched back to the previous one due to one (but important) reason: the inefficient page editor. I wish this had a visual drag and drop editor, much like the great Avia layout builder from Kriesi in the Enfold theme.
The click -> pop-up -> select -> see nothing but code instead of how it will appear … that’s something I can’t be using for my specific client(s).
So if only there was a visual drag and drop editor included (without having to pay an extra 100 dollars or more for a third party plugin) I would find this by far the best theme I’ve known.
I suppose this will not be included?
I’m sorry to hear that DavyE, there most likely will not be a page builder added to this theme, but I am already in the process of building one for the next.
Hi there,
Great theme!
one request, is it possible to convert the header across the top into a side-bar header.
eg.
LOGO
about
portfolio
blog
etc.
Hey rawrtalent, thanks for buying the theme!
That would require custom development. If you need this done I have a developer I can recommend
Hi,
How would I be able to set a delay on the first frame of the slider? Say I wanted a 5 second delay before the first image loads.
Thanks. K
Hello madewithpassion,
you’d have to modify the JavaScript and add a function that adds a timeout to the entire init of the home slider.
Responsive design does not work well. As the site of you guys, it is displayed in one column instead of two column. I will also cut off text. What do I do if I want to like you guys?
http://creativefactory.jp/Hey takuya0522,
I already responded to the ticket you opened stating the same thing. I don’t see what you’re talking about, the link you supplied behaves identical to the live demo. Please explain what you mean on your ticket.
Thanks!
I’m willing to purchase this great theme (congrats, good work!), but i have a question: i have no use for the “Love this” button, but i’d love to have an “Like this” (Facebook) in its very place, is this possible?
Thanks in advance!
Hey douglaszani!
If you wanted to add a like button in that spot, you have just have to replace the love code with the Facebook like code. It’s obviously not a built in option of the theme, but if you’re comfortable with editing HTML, it shouldn’t be too bad. Also, you could just remove the love button all together like others have with CSS and use the social sharing buttons to extend your social reach like you want. (they appear on the single page)
Hi! Thanks again for making such a nice theme!
Sorry if these questions have already been asked, I read through a few pages but gave in!
The images you have in the demo, in the project ‘Box – Ext. Content’ under ‘The Key Aspects We Covered’. I can get an image in there, but I cant get it to the scale you have yours at. Ive tried changing the size to 800×463 and saving but it doesnt seem to react. Any ideas?
Also, the pop up video player window when I select ‘watch video’, is an odd format. Id really just like it 16:9, like the video is. I tried playing with the ‘iframe’ section section in the css, but this doesnt seem to work. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
Thanks very much!
J
Hey JackMorley!
1. You would have to show me your URL so I can see what’s going on with your sizes.
2. Have you changed the height on the iframe itself that you pasted in the embed box?
Hey thanks the embed box solved that iframe issue!
Still having trouble with the pic size tho. Same thing happening now on a carousel on the home page, the images just wont change size. Must be doing something wrong!
Im selecting ‘add media’, uploading a pic, and then ‘edit image’, advanced settings’, changing sizes and saving, but no reaction.
Heres a link to the home with the carousel; http://replayhouse.com/replayhouse/?page_id=4 And the project page, where il be putting a few pics like the demo had; http://replayhouse.com/replayhouse/?portfolio=flippin-the-birdHey Jack!
It looks like the sizes you’re selecting for your images are thumbnails. When you are selecting your image there’s a options to choose on the right-hand side, select Full Size in “Attachment Display Settings”.
Add this to your Custom CSS Box
body {
padding-right: 0px!important;
}
Genius! Thanks a million!
You’re welcome!
Cheers
hey themenecter, i’m so loving your theme–thanks a million for all the work thats gone into it!
i’ve got an easy question and a super specific modification question that im hoping to get your help with.
1– how can i remove just the title of the page (not the filter too, as posted in another comment)?
2– this is the big one: i’d like to use the beautiful portfolio section, and its sortable categories, to manage all of the content of my site. as such, there wont be any additional pages. i’d like to remove the menu entirely, and use only categories to navigate my content. so my questions are these:
– how can i remove the menu – how complicated is it to break out the categories from their dropdown menu into individual buttons that would run along the top of the page? mock-up here. i know this is super custom, just trying to get an idea of whats involved, and if you’re available to do it, for a fee of course.
thanks ever so much! emily
Hello Emily!
1. Use this in your Custom CSS Box:
.page-template-page-portfolio-php h1 {
display: none;
}
2. That would require custom development work. If you are interested with going through with it, I have a developer I can recommend for you
themenecter, you’re a lifesaver, thanks!
1 worked like a charm on the main portfolio page, though not on the post pages. what would i need to pop in there to also remove the page titles?
and for #2, yes, please let me know how i could get a quote for some of that custom work.
all the best, emily
PM me and I’ll give you the contact information for a developer
Thanks for a great theme! I have a question about videos. When I embed videos from Vimeo, I get bars over and under the video. If that means the video size is defined by the theme, where can I change it?
Hey Slaughterhousefilm!
The iframe heights are auto calculated to allow responsive resizing through the different layouts. To change the height, open up style.css and search for the ”.iframe-embed” rule. it should be near line 1627 depending on the version of the theme your running. Play with this value until you get the height you want:
padding-bottom: 54.25%;
That worked! Thanks for the fast answer.
Cheers!
Hi thereAbout the Blog page template,i found the theme just can allow only one blog page,can i add many blog page in my site? Because i use this theme to do Game site. it may be have many blog article,i don’t want let them into one page. Not just through the tag and catalogue for these articles to look different.I want to put different articles into different page. Could u help me plz? Thanks By the way~It ’s a great theme!I like it!
Hey csmsc, thanks for buying the theme!
The only way to achieve that would have to be through different categories. You could then have menu navigation links to those category pages so in effect it would be very similar.
That’s ok! Thanks~
You’re welcome!
Is there a way to remove the ‘view larger’ text box on the portfolio / recent work thumbnail rollovers? I would then need to centre the ‘more details’ on the rollover.
Thanks again.
Enter this snippet into your Custom CSS Box:
.portfolio-items .col .work-item .work-info a.pp {
display: none!important;
}
Perfecto! Thanks!
One last thing, is it possible to make the rollovers clickable and not just the ‘more details’ text box. Thanks again for all your assistance.
Hey Bloom, check this ticket regarding the modification: http://themenectar.ticksy.com/ticket/46431/search/
Hi there. Is there a function to share the blog posts on the theme, share them via linkedin or FB for example. Also, when I post the blog to linkedin it is not showing any thumbnail images, is there anyway to make them appear?
Many thanks for all you help so far, great theme.
Hey Bloomadv,
If you are using a theme version > 1.4 then you have the option to enable social sharing buttons for both your blog and your portfolio through the Salient options panel
Im using 1.3
Time to update to the latest!
Download a fresh copy from ThemeForest
I just downloaded the theme again and it would not let me install ‘Destination folder already exists.’ Where do I find the upgrade?
You need to delete your current version of the theme first mate. As long as you haven’t made any changes to the files you’re good to go
I have custom CSS [in the general settings > custom CSS field] and my own settings in various options [fb, twitter uel etc etc]. Will I need to reset all these when I upgrade? Thanks
Nope, all that is saved in your database and will persist through
Rockin’! Thanks!
You’re welcome!
I have installed the latest version. I see the option ‘Social Media Sharing Buttons’ in the portfolio section of the Salient section in the dashboard, but I do not see it in the blog section.
Apologies, I needed to log out and in to see the new dashboard. Now I have activated the ‘Social Media Sharing Buttons’ [and ticked the boxes for FB, Twitter and PinT] in the blog section but I do not see them appearing in the posts. Do I need to do something else when creating a new post? Thanks
There’s nothing else to do after activating them in that panel. Would you mind opening a ticket with your URL so I can take a peek? Thanks!
I was looking at the blog posts listing, I just noticed that the social media share icons are only when you click into the individual posts. Thats fine, no need to raise a ticket. Thanks for getting back to me none the less.
Yeah, that’s the default behavior
Couldn’t find this information listed anywhere I was wondering if the theme came with PSD files?
Hey sincerelyhiten!
Unfortunately, there is no PSD included.
I’d like to post a question to the forum, but there is no License Certificate link in my downloads for this template. Please help.
Here’s my question anyway…I want to change the columns slightly for larger screen to make columns a bit wider. Adding this to the custom CSS box, kills the responsive design. I looks like the custom css is fired last. Is there somewhere I can add this without messing with the base files? Thank You. .span_2 { width: 13%; } .span_3 { width: 21.5%; } .span_4 { width: 30%; } .span_5 { width: 38.5%; } .span_6 { width: 47%; } .span_7 { width: 55.5%; } .span_8 { width: 64%; } .span_9 { width: 72.5%; } .span_10 { width: 81%; } .span_11 { width: 89.5%; } .col { margin-right: 4%; }
Hey subers!
You don’t need to adjust any of the column widths to create a larger layout, as you can see they are all percent based so all you need to do is change the container width.
Here’s a starting point to add to your CSS
@media only screen and (min-width: 1500px) {
.container {
max-width: 1300px;
}
}
