Sorry if someone asked before, i just need to know if the theme is suitable for selling e-books, graphics stuff, html theme and so on…
Thank you Tony
Hi, this theme is suitable for any kind of store, as is OpenCart itself, but it depends on your particular requirements. The features you see in our demos is what you get so you can decide if it’s right for you. Let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
Hi,
Is it possible to use the the standard modules like latest and bestsellers in the custom tabs on the homepage ( the tabs below the slider image)? The tabs are really nice but always need manual updating while latest and bestseller , most viewed etc. dont need that and for a large website thats a big time saver. I know you can use them but not sure if you can use them in the tabs.
Hi, sorry but only custom sections work with that module right now. We are looking into the possibility of using default OC modules as well. Thanks!
have a quick question regarding the placement of extra images on the product page, is it possible to place the thumbnail images that are below the main product image on the left side of the main product image ?
Hi, sorry but that’s not possible with the current configuration. You can try to force them on the side with custom css but it will probably break the responsive layout.
The moment you think this theme is sooo amazing it cant get better you guys come with a even more amazing update
Thanks a lot, we’re definitely coming with even more exciting features in our next updates. Cheers!
When setting up Google Analytics do you just need to enter the code in the system>settings>store>URL section? or do you also have to input it in every page?
Hi, System/Settings/Server/Google Analytics Code should be the only place you need it as it goes into the header, which loads on every page. Thanks!
Hi, I have some requests if possible. *Ordering option for images in journal slider *Setting options for price displaying in product page in journal control panel -base price + V.A.T option -price (including V.A.T) option -discount option for money transfer -discount rate option for money transfer *Quantity of product in product page
Thanks in advance
Hi, these aren’t related to the theme, they’re default OpenCart features that are not set from the journal control panel. Please consult Opencart documentation for more info on these features or file a ticket on our support page so we can try to guide you to the right info. Thanks!
Hi,
like your theme. Do you plan more skins? I want tot change the layout like in Sellya theme, boxed layout. Main categories under the logo, search field in the middle of header. Would it break the responsive layout and can I make these changes without loosing after update?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, thanks. We do have more skins coming but not with the search field in the middle. To put the search in the center of the header requires a customization so it will fit nicely on all responsive layouts. You should keep your css separate so that you’ll be able to update the theme easily and get all the new features we’re bringing.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Hi,
Where would i find the color and header section and the skin section in opencart?
Thanks Jess
Hi, all that is in the Journal Control Panel. Hope that’s what you’re referring to. Thanks!
Hi,
Sorry stupid question: where is the control panel?
Thanks Jess
Hi, that would be in Extesions/Modules/Journal-Control Panel. Cheers!
Hi,
Can I reset all the settings back to how I orginally got the template?
Thanks Jess
Hi, of course, just hit the Reset Section blue button you see on the right hand side. That would reset the current tab you have active, not the entire control panel. If you’d like to reset the entire control panel just uninstall the module from Extensions/Modules and reinstall it again. Thanks!
Hi
Can I change the product image size and the product list image size
thank you very much
Hi, the product list size is maxed out at 280px and calculated evenly for each responsive resolution. You can change the product list size and the product image but they may need some adjustments in order to fit properly for all resolutions. Just get in touch on our support page with your required dimensions to see how we can help you out. Thanks!
Hi, I bought your extension, which looks pretty nice and I also bought the echo blog manager following your advice. Could you, please, tell me how to integrate both? I have carried out the mods indicated in the blog manager instructions but I get this error message:
Notice: Undefined variable text_blog in…
You say that Journal is designed to be compatible with blog manager, what am I doing wrong?
Next question, is there a Spanish version?
Hi, yes of course it is compatible, so you probably didn’t install it properly. Just file a ticket on our support page and we’ll help install the blog. The theme does not come with any additional languages but you can install any language you want, everything is multi-language in OpenCart. Go ahead with that ticket so we can assist you. http://journal.digital-atelier.com/support
Thanks!
Hi, any change of including a blog/news manager yourself? I saw another theme which has a 10 dollar blog manager included. It would be nice to need your theme only, and not have to be dependent on other plugins or suppliers.
Hi, the $10 option did not seem professional enough for our theme so we decided to support the best blog extension available for Opencart, Blog Manager by Qahar. This small additional investment is really a bargain for any professional stores because you get a top notch piece of software that’s being constantly maintained and improved by its developer, with full support and free updates.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Okay, what the hell…
Hi, before I buy this blog plugin, is it possible to disable comments for all posts? I do not need the ability for discussion, I only want to be able to use it as news. For example, to write a small text for a new product or something like that.
Ah, maybe i can use this one http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension/info&extension_id=3679 and change the BLOG navigation to NEWS? That must be easy isn’t it?
Hi, yes you can disable the comments feature on the Blog Manager. Here’s what they say about comments:
Comment Management
Comment management is a feature that blog must have. With Blog Manager you will get threaded comments style with ability to disable or enabled comment on certain category, auto approve for certain customer group and also show staff badge on comment/ reply from the staff.
This is by far the best blog software for Opencart but you can try others too, we just haven’t tested any other and can’t guarantee that they’ll work as intended with this theme. Thanks!
Is anyone else having troubles with the Journal template (and the Journal demo site) on WindowsXP/Internet Explorer 8? I’ve contacted support but they don’t seem to believe me. Tried on at least 5 different computers with IE8 and the layout of the header breaks horribly – both on my website and the Journal Demo site.
Hi, we didn’t say we didn’t believe you, just that the screenshot you sent us does not look like our version of IE8. It may be IE8 you’re running, but in different modes or perhaps the XP version is an older one, we’re not sure. Here’s the comparison https://journal.digital-atelier.com/compare.jpg
With that said, we’d like to help you get to the bottom of this, just follow through on the support ticket thread so we can find the solution.
Thanks!
Yes, Windows XP can run in two graphics modes. I run mine in downgraded graphics mode for speed. It’s what Server 2003 looks like by default. Internet Explorer’s render engine isn’t affected by the graphics mode.
I’ve been looking at the http://journal.digital-atelier.com/2/ demo throughout the day on five different Windows XP / IE8 computers. Now, suddenly, the demo is working right in these browsers. Something changed … and I definitely didn’t change my computers for the laptop I borrowed.
Hi, your logo box was bigger on IE8 for some reason. We’ve adjusted the header elements on your server and IE8 seems to be displaying properly. Please check and let us know. Thanks.
I took a look at the catalog/view/theme/journal/stylesheet/style.css file you edited for me. Thank you. I used my diff tool to compare your modifications to the original style.css in the Journal 1.6.2 ZIP download. Interestingly, the version info in the original file is 1.6.1 but you updated it to say 1.6.2 on my server. Will you be including the updated version in future downloads or do I need to retain this version of the file you modified directly on my server?
I see that you added IE8 specific styles on lines 540, 643 and 951. Works fine in IE8 now. Of course, since IE8 sucks, the layout breaks when the browser window is reduced to something smaller than the standard width (like your demo) but anyone running IE8 with a screen resolution of 800×600 is going to see problems on a lot of websites.
Thank you for the style sheet modifications!
Hi, I’ve only edited your logo box size and 2 more header elements (top-links and login text section). Some of the other ie8 specific css was already there as we’ve tried to make this bad browser work as much as possible but some things are really impossible. The 800×600 resolution would not work as IE8 does not support media queries and our minimum desktop version is 980px.
You should update the theme entirely in the future as there are many features we’re introducing and your issue should be taken care of. If you still experience any of that after an update please get in touch with us.
Thanks!
Brilliant thank you will make my purchase : )
Thank you for choosing Journal, let us know if you need any assistance. Cheers!
Hi I am interested in buying this theme but had 1 question. Can I add a product text field for customers to put personal message for product to have? This is usually done in open cart in attributes and product options usually is this still possible with your theme?
Hi, if it’s available in opencart is available in this theme. We don’t modify any core opencart files or functionality.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
Hello, how can i make bigger size for category pictures, since the text falls off? http://www.primecomputers.nl/example.jpg
Regards, Peter
Hi, you can have the text on 2 lines or make the images bigger. Both require a customization in the code, please file a ticket on our support page so we can help you out. Thanks! http://journal.digital-atelier.com/support
Hi
I have just purchased this theme and I have uploaded admin, catalogue and image to opencart but I cannot find the index.php so i cannot add the line of code in. Can you point out to me where it is please?
Thanks Jess
Hi, I found the directory but it won’t let me open it because no programme is associated with that file type – do you know what will allow me to open it?
You should be able to open the index.php file with any text editor, try Notepad if you’re on Windows or TextEdit on Mac.
It isn’t giving me an option it’s just telling me that i cannot open it how do i go about telling it to open with notepad?
Try to right click on it and Open With and choose Notepad.
Thanks I have opened it with notepad but how will I know where line 220 is? Is it ok to download the file open with notepad then reupload it to the directory or will that mess it up?
Just scroll towards the end, and paste the line right after:
// Front Controller
$controller = new Front($registry);
ok thanks can i reupload it to the directory if i have downloaded it?
Yes of course, just replace it with the old one there.
thanks sorry for all the questions this is my first time using opencart. I have followed all the instructions so far but when i go to the store tab in open cart i don’t have a journal option it just has admin, catalogue and image have i done something wrong?
Yes, something must be wrong and we don’t know what it is until we look at it so just file a ticket on our support page with temporary access to your admin so we can check it out http://journal.digital-atelier.com/support
ok thanks for all your help
Hi DA, We already bought the theme. Is it possible for you to change flag language into letters? like a dropdown of english, chinese, french.
If ou did that this Theme Is the best theme we ever had in theme forest thanks
www.cnluckygoods.com
Hi, that would require a custom modification in the header to allow for other elements to fit in. Please file a ticket on our support page to see how we can help you with that. Thanks! http://journal.digital-atelier.com/support
hi, i am interested to purchase the theme, but i would like to know if i can embed youtube videos onto the item descriptions. would the be videos be responsive when viewed on mobile devices too?
Hi, yes you can embed youtube videos in the product description. The video will retain its original width within the iframe so it’s not really responsive. Thanks!
thanks for the quick reply!
Two questions. 1. Is there a way to show a short description on the quickview? 2. Is there a way to show images on the categories menu?
Hi, 1. The product description is visible, are you asking if you can shorten that? 2. Not at this time, we’re working on a Mega-Menu feature that will allow you to have category images in the menu.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
1. yes can the description be shorten in the quickview? per-haps the option to show meta-description in quickview. This would coincide with the “More Details” button.
Hi, yes you can shorten the description and you can also show the meta too. The More Details button is just there take you to the actual product page. Thanks!
Can you explain how one might go about doing this in your theme?
Hi, of course, after you purchase just file a ticket on our support page and we’ll help you out. http://journal.digital-atelier.com/support
Thanks!
I’m helping a friend that purchased your theme. There is no info on Quickview in the documentation. I could hard code something but I don’t want to have an update reverse everything. I just figured there was a short code or something that is missing in the documentation.
I guess I’ll go the support route… I’m just trying to get ‘r done!
We only offer technical support on our support page so just have your friend file a ticket. Thanks!
I’ve looked everywhere in cp so I don’t have to bother you (again) but can’t work it out. How do you ‘fix’ or anchor the background image so it doesn’t scroll, like the road image on your ‘journal II’ demo? Thanks again for your great support
Hi, that’s the Journal Fullscreen Slider. Just set up a module instance and upload a single image in it (for a fullscreen background) or a set of images (for fullscreen slideshows). Here’s the info how to use that module: https://journal.digital-atelier.com/docs/#!/journal_fullscreen Cheers!
Super quick reply as usual. Many thanks
