You don’t need to use any page templates.
To categorize your portfolio items, you can assign categories to them within the Portfolio Categories meta box. Assigning categories to the portfolio items will allow the users to filter your portfolio by categories.
You can create new categories by navigating to Portfolio > Portfolio Categories or you can directly create them from the portfolio item page.

To add a new portfolio item, navigate to Portfolios > Add New. Here you can add the title of the project, a description in the main text editor, enter project details (client, date, URL), upload medias, type an excerpt and assign various categories.
I have made multiple Portfolio’s using that method. But I am asking how to create the main portfolio page. The page which let’s you navigate to a specific portfolio. The page titled as ‘Collections’ on the example above. I don’t know how to get this page!

Lovely theme and just setting it up now for a branding project.
My question is I’m trying to add an internal blog post URL to an image that I will be importing into a Gallery or Portfolio.
The website will be displaying single brand logos from the 20th Century, so each logo will have a blog post then the main logo image forming part of the home page gallery/portfolio grid.
So the idea is that I will create a regular blog post and the ‘featured logo’ for that post will be featured in a Gallery. As the gallery will be on the home page I need each logo gallery image to be able to link/clickable directly to the blog post, which contains detailed text information etc.
I can’t seem to make this work, and I have tried a few plug-ins: WP Gallery Custom Links etc, but each time I add the URL to the image, and then click the image the lightbox effect still overrides, and any custom URL I have set is ignored.

Why not use portfolio posts instead of blog posts?
I’m using Portfolio posts at the moment as you can see: http://imjustcreative.com/brandlegends
but Portfolio pages have a few restrictions that blog posts don;t have and that would be quite useful for the website I am building. It will eventually be a big index of 20th century brand logos, so 1000’s and 1000’s of posts with many images. I need to be able to not only sort by categories, but also tags which Portfolio posts don’t have.
I guess if there was a way to not only filter via categories as I have it now, but also tags this would be very useful.
Currently use 12 or so categories: 1900, 1910, etc but what is really important is to be able to allow each viewer the ability to filter for the designers\agencies names responsible for the logos designed as well as things like logo characteristics: colour, style.
If you can take a quick look at my other site: http://logostack.co you’ll see that I have categories and tags set up as dropdown so site visitors can see quickly the designers names as well as sort by logo styles.
If I can add working tags (that work exactly as categories do) for each Portfolio post that work to filter the selections on the home page then this would be awesome.
Is there any way to achieve this, or could I pay you to code this feature in for me?
I have played a little bit with adding tag codes, but the results are less than useful, and they certainly don’t work to show results on the home page unlike when you filter via categories.
Apologies for the long winded post, but find it a little hard to explain what I’m needing. This is why I initially assumed blog posts would be better, but realised it’s not possible to link an image in the blog post to the main home page portfolio.
As I said would be more than happy to pay for this feature.

I import hundreds blog posts in gallery format. It seems that there is no option to display blog posts on the home page other than the standard layout? Do all my blog posts need to be in the themes “Gallery” section?
That seems kind of strange if blog posts cannot utilize your gallery or portfolio layouts on the home page unless they are in your gallery or portfolio custom sections.
Perhaps I’m mistaken but I can only show blog posts on the front page through the default layout?

I’m trying to set up my portfolio so my main page is “Portfolio page (fixed Width) but when you click on a picture to go to the portfolio, it comes up as “single project classic” formatting. How would I do that?
Some of the xml things didnt import properly either…my slider doesn’t appear the same way yours does. When I import the xml file it always times out and I have to do it again, should that be happening?

Okay I will re install and not import images. The slider thing is not a huge issue if I can get the first part figured out.

I have checked there, but single project classic does not seem to be an option.
Would it be in the menu when I make a new portfolio project, or in the portfolio settings as a whole?

I’m going to try to explain this as best as I can.
I am trying to make a homepage which will be the full width slider. So that will be the first page everyone sees when they enter the site.
THEN, on the sidebar, I wanted to have my portfolio link, that when clicked, will show all my work as the fixed width portfolio page (so basically the little boxes with all the links to the pages). BUT, as soon as I make the homepage something other than the portfolio, it doesn’t allow me to have a secondary page with a portfolio. It just lists all the pages as articles with no pictures whatsoever.
Is there ANY WAY to have a homepage with a full width slider and then a separate portfolio page that can be clicked on the sidebar that will take visitors to ANOTHER portfolio listing page?

Gallery type : ‘slider’ – Is there a way of making images liquid past their original size so that the image resizes to what ever screen size the viewer is viewing the site on? Currently they are only liquid up to their original size. I don’t want to upload image that are too large otherwise they will be of a printable quality when indexed to google.
Also is there a way to disable images being dragged from the browser to the desktop when using the ‘Full Width of Window Slider’ template? When using the ‘slider’ template this cannot occur, which is good for protecting images from being misused.

I would like to make my menu font smaller and align center. I have managed to make the font smaller in this part of the CSS but i cant seem to find where to change the CSS to make the menu align ‘center’ Any chance you can send me in the right direction? thanks

I assume you don’t support plugins but i am using two fairly popular plugins- Post Types Order & Category Order and Taxonomy Terms Order
One of these affects fixed layout of the portfolio section and only allows 3 portfolios across the page. Do you know if there is any easy fix for this? Even after deleting the plugins it seems that it has permantly changed the layout from 5 to 3 across.

Sorry I dont think these plugins are affecting the layout.
Can you tell me why the layout changes inconsistently? Depending on the shape and size of the browser it changes from six across, to 3 across and then to four across? There is a lot of wasted space either side of the thumbnails when it is 3 across and it doesn’t make sense that the thumbnails are not filling the page fully?

In super smooth gallery, captions are loaded before images… so until the first image appears – which can take some time – all captions overlap and it just looks terrible -> http://www.mariecarette.com/perso/captions.jpgYou did a great job on this theme – really – but this problem is really frustrating… and it spoils the beauty of the theme ! Is there anything you could do ? Add a query so that captions are not loaded before all images are ? It would be marvellous !!
