Downloaded theme and regenerated thumbnails as described, however images are not being picked up by Insert Posts, Insert Posts Carousel, etc. Any ideas how to get the short codes to get the resized images?

Do you mean images are not showing at all, or the new images are not appearing. In latter case, make sure the source images are bigger than the size specified inside Appearance > Theme Options > Image Sizes. Or simply check by uploading a bigger image and set it as featured image.

Images show, but not the resized ones. Like I’ve seen in pass where the image will reference something like image34-300×300.gif.
The big image is the featured image but they all vary in size and shape. So the intention was to regenerate the thumbnails by clicking the “hard crop” option in the image size theme options and running regenerate thumbnails, this resized the images but the theme is not selecting the resized thumbnails it’s still picking up the original for all the various short codes you can use for pages.

Kindly send me your site URL if the site is live. I can only tell by looking at the source. If you are testing it on localhost, you can check by clearing all browser cache, and if using any caching plugin, clear the plugin cache too.
It is also possible that the new sizes are not generated at all. This happens when original source image is smaller than size specified.

The cache has been emptied but not changes. On the Theme Options screen > Image Sizes, they are all set to 400×400 Hard Crop except
Post Slider Images which is set to 450×450 Recent/Popular Posts and Small Post Lists 300×300 Related Posts Images 300×300 Minifolio Widget Images 300×300

Your theme settings seems correct, and you have also cleared the cache. So the only cause I can think of is smaller source image. Are the featured images bigger than 450px? They will resize only if they are greater than 450px (as per your theme option settings).
Since it is hosted on local server, I can not help until it is live. The settings have no connection with source files. It is related to WP admin which I can not access on local server.

I just checked the site. The navigation is working correctly. I suspected it could be a caching plugin but no such plugin is used on your site. To make it more user friendly I will try and release a collapsible menu in next update.

I have re-checked pages, posts and archievs. The navigation menu shows on mobile devices as combo drop down. You can further confirm by checking the same site on another mobile device. If there is any cache, kindly check by clearing browser cache too.

Kindly send me your site URL. Navigation menu theme locations do not save when the theme is installed directly as your download zip. It is required to unzip the download first, and then install the ‘newsplus’ theme folder to wp-content/themes/ folder.
If I see your site URL, I can confirm whether it is an installation issue or something else.

Advertisement in header is placed using Header Widget area. For that navigate to Appearance > Widgets > Default Header Bar. Inside this widget area, use a Text Widget and place your advertisement markup in it. This can be a simple img tag or Google AdSense code.

I have tried different plugins with no luck (they are probably made for wordpress standalone installations). Do you know any ‘hack’ to get this?

Main menu can be made hidden using css display: none on byddypress pages. Generally, BP pages have a unique class name in body tag of that page. That class name can be used to hide menu. For example, add this rule at the end of style.css file:
.buddypress #main-nav { display: none; }
This will hide main navigation on BuddyPress pages.

I just purchased and downloaded. When I upload it to my hosting account it says it’s missing the Style.css file. I’ve uploaded several others from Themeforest to my current host and never had any problems. So I don’t think I’m doing it wrong. ??? Any suggestions?

Background image can be added by adding the following rule inside style.css or user.css file:
#header { background: url(images/banner.png) center 0 no-repeat; }
This will set banner.php as background image in header area. Make sure you upload banner.png to the images folder of newsplus theme.

Videos can be inserted using video post formats, or directly into a page using the embed short code or custom HTML. If you wish to show videos after main menu, they can be inserted inside page content.

We purchased this beautiful theme but have a question, on the mobile version, the google ads doesn’t look right. I wanted to try the Jetpack mobile version and it doesnt work (it shows the shortcodes instead the homepage)
So, please provide guidance to either of these two options:
1. Customize the mobile version to show google ads correctly or 2. How to deactivate the responsive version and activate Jetpack mobile version

Thanks for the purchase and kind feedback. The theme is fully responsive, so it will not be required to use Jetpack mobile version.
For responsive Google ads, you can use responsive ad slots as described on Google support. You can also use GARD plugin if required. But I would recommend direct approach as shown on Google support page.

You can insert column short codes inside your single post for adding a sidebar area. For example, use the following code inside single.php file:
[col type="two-third"] - your post content - [/col] [col type="one-third last"] - your sidebar content - [/col]
This will show a 2/3 : 1/3 layout between content and main sidebar. The limitation is that you can not use widgets in the column area. For that you may find these plugins helpful:

These are for using widgets in pages or posts.

Hi! I embedded some form which works with a PHP script. And before I activated top utility bar it worked fine. After activation it happened that instead of .php script it calls top search form. And instead of script resulh I have ‘oops, nothing found’. Is there a way to beat it somehow?

From your description it seems the custom php script is related to search functionality. If so, the top utility bar has a search box on top right side which might be causing conflict. You can choose to show a text instead of search box. This can be done inside Appearance > Theme Options > Header > Right callout section. Choose “text” from this option and enter any custom text for that area.

Just one thing: I’m using it with buddypress and I want to insert a different sidebar for its pages (activity, blogs, etc.) but it does not work as in “normal” pages. The config does not apply my changes.
I’ve only managed to hide the sidebar customizing the file plugin-buddypress.php… Is there any way to insert a custom sidebar in buddypress pages?

Thanks for the purchase and kind feedback. There is a little confusion about exclusive sidebars. These sidebars are only for Pages or Posts. They can not be used on archives, category or Custom Post Types. BuddyPress generates it’s own pages on which we can not insert custom sidebars.
You can try Content Aware Sidebars plugin which works good with the theme and also supports usage on CPTs.

Thanks for purchasing the theme. The code you have mentioned is for generating posts in different styles. It doesn’t have direct relation with Feeds. You can access and check feed URL as shown here. Feeds are for posts, comments, etc.

In Blog List style view, foe each post next to the featured image and below the post-excerpt (post text preview) there is are four elements: post date, categories, number of comments, read more button. My questions is how do I modify these elements? hod do I change their order? How do I modify their font style? How do I remove some of them? Can I move some of them upwards? For example the date or categories to appear above post-excerpt and blow the post title.

The list style blog for archives is set inside content-list.php file. It is called at line no. 25 using newsplus_small_meta() function. If you need to edit elements of this function, open functions.php file and look for the function code at around line n0. 477. You can edit that code and remove any links if required.
If you wish to show some parts above and some parts below, it will be required to split the function into two. i.e. create two separate functions and call them in content-list.php file. If you find any difficulty in editing the files, kindly send me a mail at xconsau[at]gmail[dot]com.
