Hello Nectar,

First of all, fantastic theme. Keep up the great work.

Second, I was wondering if it is possible to have the drop-down sub-menu of the main navigation menu to appear right under their respective menu items rather than under the header?

Thanks you!

Hey saali_maali!

Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel:

.sf-menu ul {
    top: 30px!important;
}

Cheers :)

Hey Nectar,

A couple more font questions. 1) How do I change the color of the font for all

tags in the whole theme from gray to a darker gray/black? 2) How do I change the font for a particular paragraph/heading on a particular page through the custom css? For example, I’m using Lato and I want a sub-heading (which is in a

tag) to be font style of 300 but I want the rest of the

tags to be the regular font style.

Thanks!

Also all of my fonts are showing up slightly darker and larger in firefox vs other browses even with all the default settings. Do you know why that would be?

Hey althaua!

1.
html body p, html body {
   color: #000;
}

2. You would need to have loaded that weight through the custom typography options panel in another selection or else you won’t have access to it. Assuming you’ve selected it for something else so it’s being loaded you could give a class to your element in the text tab on your editor like:

<h2 class="lato-light"> My Text </h2>
and then in the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel add this:
.lato-light {
    font-family: Lato;
    font-weight: 300!important;
}

3. Different browsers will use different font formats when using font-face (WOFF, TTF, SVG) which could cause slight rendering differences.

Cheers!

Love this theme! Quick question. I’d like to make use of the Google Map feature. Is it possible to make the map height responsive?

Thanks – can you send it to themenectar@gmail.com? :)

Cheers

Thank you ThemeNectar for your immediate response!

For others, here is the code… @media only screen and (min-width : 690px) and (max-width : 1300px) { .nectar-google-map { height: 310px!important; } } @media only screen and (max-width : 690px) { .nectar-google-map { height: 150px!important; } }

Thanks for posting this here! :)

Hello there, Quick Question:

Everything works nice with 3.0, congrats to that! But when i try to enter in the Salient Menu on the left side in the admin i am getting a white page with the URL: http://www.domain.tld/wp-admin/admin.php?page=redux_options.

As i am in need to change some settings, any idea what will happen to me? :-)

Thanks!

Sounds goods – I’ll be with you soon :)

ok, great, i am here :-)

Just responded :)

Hello,

great advance with the addition of Visual Composer. Some presales questions:

- Is it possible to use Templatera (a template Manager for Visual Composer) with your theme? http://codecanyon.net/item/templatera-template-manager-for-visual-composer/5195991?WT.ac=item_more_thumb&WT.seg_1=item_more_thumb&WT.z_author=mixey

- Is the theme fully compatible with WPML? If not, are you planning to do it?

Great work! Continue to focus in this theme, improve it over the time and you will continue to sell it very well!

Hey javierojuel!

1. I haven’t tested with that, but can’t see why it wouldn’t work :)

2. I have done basic testing, but there still needs to be some more before I can claim 100% compatibility.

Also, thanks for the encouragement!

Cheers

Hi, for the Boxed format, there’s a shadow that shows up between the boxed website and the background. Is there a way to remove this. My goal is to have the website contents boxed, but the whole site to be seamless white. Thanks.

Hey apartment4!

Add this into the Custom CSS box located in your Salient Options panel:
#boxed, #header-outer {
   box-shadow: none!important;
}
body #boxed #header-outer {
  border-bottom: none!important;
}

Cheers!

Thanks Nectar! worked perfectly

You’re welcome :)

Hey Nectar,

I’m so close to finishing my site I just have a couple more questions about the portfolio section that I left in my last post I was hoping you could address?

Thanks so much.

Hey!

Yeah, I checked it after responding and it appears that my instincts were correct – the featured images were too small.

Cheers :)

Rad thanks again sir!

You’re welcome :)

How is the support on this theme? I’m seeing a lot of questions and no author responses.

Hey pmagony,

I’m not sure where you were looking, but the only questions you could’ve seen on here that were unanswered at the time of your posting were the ones from Sunday evening (when I’m off) & through the night while I was sleeping.

Cheers :)

Hello Nectar!

I am a little confused as to how ‘typography options’ works. I only see OpenSans webfont included in the css but there are tons of options in ‘typography options’ – If I select a font such as “Lato” from the menu in the salient ‘typography options’ will it automatically work or do I need to do other things also?

Thanks!

For example, when I select Helvetica, it doesn’t work on any browsers.

Hey althaua!

The OpenSans family is included directly since it’s the default, but all others will be requested from Google – there’s a known bug with Helvetica and Arial in 3.0 but all others should work. (The fix for those two will be released tonight).

Cheers!

Please advise, if this beautiful theme is comparable with:

Yoast SEO Yoast Breadcrumbs

Hey meeekz!

Yes, but you’d have to insert the function call for it in your layout file where you desire it to display.

Cheers :)

Hi! Is it possible to use FontDeck fonts please? Thanks

Hey paulrigby!

yes, but you’d have to include it manually or through a plugin and then use custom css to target your desired elements to alter the font of.

Cheers :)

There’s an issue with adding the nectar shortcode: Tekst with icon.

I choose to add a custom Image Icon. Image is uploaded and text is added.

When i view the page then it says ’’array”’ where the image should be.

Hey juistevorm!

This issue is going to resolved with tonight’s minor update release :)

Cheers

After the update this issue works perfectly now! Thanks again!

No problem, thanks for informing me! :)

Hello! I have a problem with the blog on this theme. When I choose to show a masonry version the page show me all the post but with the entire post text. There is an option with I can show only for example the first 15 words or something like that, with the typical text “continue to read… “

thanks!

Hey markosansa,

Yes, there’s an option for that in the blog options tab of the Salient options panel. Just activate the “Automatic Post Excerpts” :)

Cheers

oook! Thanks!

You’re very welcome :)

Hello

March to upload images. However, the map marker is not set. How can I solve the problem?

http://dn.ninefactory.kr/?page_id=30

Hey doctornoah1210, did you activate location #1 and add your lat/lng in there as well? Just adding a lat/lng for the maps center point won’t add a marker.

Cheers :)

Hello

Couple quick questions about the theme I was hoping you could answer :)

1. There seems to be a lot of padding after I put unordered lists on page, how can I reduce that a bit. 2.When I select something to be bold or strong it turns it black rather than bolding it, is there a way to make it more of the traditional bold font in the same colour as the rest of the body text?

I am assuming these are both CSS tweaks. Thanks again and hopefully you are working on other themes as awesome as Salient :).

Hey shiver1001! :)

1.

body .main-content ul, body .main-content ol {
   margin-bottom: 10px;
}

2.

body .bold, body strong, b {
    font-family: 'openSansBold'!important;
    font-weight: normal !important;
}

Cheers!

Good morning.

Beautiful theme, really. Is it compatible with qtranslate plugin?

Thank you very much.

Hey gafo84!

I’ve only done some testing with WPML, so it’s hard to say what conflicts could be found with that plugin.

Cheers :)

SLIDER HELP*

So im using nectar, But im having trouble with the correct size of image, all my slider images appear slightly blurry…

Can anyone recommend a standard size for a crisp slider image ?

I appreciate it.

Hey creativeheaven2!

The images you upload are going to be resized using the css property “background-size: cover” – just ensure you’re image is at least 1800px wide if you’re using the full width option :)

great ill give it a try , thanks for your help

You’re welcome!

Hi, great theme. I would also like to submit my vote (as did “briantercero”) for a historical timeline shortcode. Would be very useful. Thank you.

Hey dougystyle, we add features into the theme weighted from the popularity of the requests. Unfortunately, there are no plans at this time to integrate an element like that.

Sure, but I’m not sure how you “weigh popularity” via comments. I’ve designed enough sites to know that a timeline is often requested and is a standard feature for many business websites. I’m just surprised that after several years, you still haven’t implemented it. Anyway, love your theme, it’s my absolute favorite! Great job, keep up the good work (and add that timeline asap)! :)

Hey dougystyle, I appreciate the feedback – it’s been noted :) To answer your question, since we get requests nearly every day, we have to pick a combination to focus on which are highly requested at the current time.

When using the Nectar slider and adding buttons in the slider; is there an option to add target=”_blank” to a button or just an option to check so the buttonlink opens in a new window?

Hey juistevorm, yes – just add the class “external-button-1” or “external-button-2” to your slide – these are noted in the CSS Classes To Know section of the user guide.

Cheers :)

Hi ThemeNectar, I’m requesting an update to how Salient handles the © copyright footer.

Currently it’s not editable from within Wordpress nor fully from within Salient’s editors. I read recommendations here and elsewhere to edit the footer.php file. I also see that Salient enables me to concatenate the “default” footer with any text entered at Salient / Footer Options / Footer Copyright Section Text.

For those reading this who are unfamiliar or would just like to know how the copyright footer works, the default copyright text is in bold, below. Note the first three items (copyright symbol, year, and site title) are fixed/locked down:

© 2014 Site Title [plus any contents from the text in Salient’s Footer Options text field]

I think the default behavior for that Footer editor should be to edit the entire footer, not to add text to the end of the footer. Several reasons, starting with reasons it isn’t ideal to lock down the first three items:

  • If I’m to choose creative commons, rather than traditional copyright.
  • Being tied to the current year, when some work was created last year or four years ago, so a moving-target copyright isn’t accurately applying to previous years the content was live. A better default, if it’s possible to determine the first post date, might be 2008-2014.
  • The name of our site is not always the name connected to our copyright. This is a problem with parent companies of the site.
  • Editing the footer.php is much more difficult with a frequently updated theme like ThemeNectar’s Salient. Since you update frequently (thank you!) I hate to think I’ll have to remember how to update the footer.php file every time I drag-and-drop the updated theme files onto the server (nor would I want to teach my client to do this!).
  • Creating a Child Theme, as I have, is good for overriding styling items via styles.css. A child theme is not as useful for overriding content choices in a field buried several levels (divs) deep inside a footer.php file. Note, this goes against the model of keeping content separate from code, giving a some weight to the notion that this content should be editable from within the CMS.
  • I bought this theme for a site I’m doing for a client. I plan to hand off the site with a little training, so that hopefully the client can use WordPress and Salient’s CMS tools from here forward. But the client’s copyright footer is uneditable by them without my team’s help.

Thanks for considering…

Hey Perred,

that’s quite the analysis! In response, yes – I’m aware of the limitations the current method brings. While it truly is safe to alter this in a child theme (I haven’t modified the footer.php of the theme in many months and don’t see a need to in the foreseeable future either so update conflicts wouldn’t be an issue), I agree there should be an easier way. I’ll note to add this in the upcoming minor release :)

Cheers!

Thanks ThemeNectar, for both replying here immediately, and for updating the theme with this feature in your latest update!!! Thanks sincerely for being responsive in every sort of way.

You’re very welcome :)

Cheers!
