Hi,

Is there a simple way to put the sidebar on the left side of the screen instead of the default right side?

The issue is that I have some static content that I want to be at the top of the page (after the header) in Mobile views – and right now with the sidebar on the right side of the screen it shows up way down on the page.

The “static content” is sort of a table of contents for information on my web site that is not in WP.

Yep, that’s easily done via the layout options in the theme options :)

Awesome – Very Cool – Thanks! I love this theme.

Ok sure, I have added my 2 issues wich are about the video not showing Ticket #188652 and also the random display. please do resolve them and let me know if you need my login or anything else.

thanks

I want to buy this template. When it is purchased, does it look exactly like the demo site shown in the live preview? Because that is what I am looking for. Thanks

I’m sure it’s a simple fix we can get you up and running in no time. Thanks!

I have posted a post there. Please get back to me soon

I will be working through support as quickly as I can today, thanks for your patience!

Hi guys!

I really love this theme and your latest works in total. Have some general questions devoted to the further development and plans:

1. Are you planning an infinite grid for this theme? 2. Are you planning any user engagement bits for this theme? 3. This question is related to the further plans: I would love to buy a “sport news” theme from you, and before making my decision would like to ask if it’s worth waiting when you issue one or go with what the market offers right now?

Thanks!

The design is awesome, trust me – I have been digging for 6-7 months and changed 2-3 themes so far then suddenly stopped on STEAM. Afterwards you have issued Explicit and I thought “ugh, now I want that one…” but in reality I like STEAM and will keep it as long as you support it and recommend to others.

BTW I am one of those who annoys you and the recent “awards” and “badges” issue is coming from me :) But that’s just figuring out stuff to make the theme even better in all possible ways. As well as the usage.

TIP: If you have any query asking about why they have “0” in facebook likes social count – the answer is they have set to show the page content on Facebook available for certain countries. If they make it available for all it will make the counter work… And instead of “0” they will get the real number of likes.

Oh wow that’s great information, thanks for letting me know that! I really appreciate it :)

Hi,

I’ve purchased it (or my contractor did to install on my site). Now I’m working on it and have a few quick questions. Where in the Theme admin interface do I configure the second row of clickable text buttons on the header section of the page – where the arrow is here:

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s106/sh/be3dff6f-dc49-43e5-ba6d-e5d3fee62427/46284df5e1f8fb986e1c6cc3005b96f4/deep/0/OracleTalk%20%7C%20Spreading%20Awareness.png

Does anyone know what widget or plugin I need to get the Facebook/Twitter and RSS feeder buttons along the top like here?

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s106/sh/ee930c48-d01a-47aa-89a4-2f878a6fdeb0/4b66d4e4d44496453dfd15fcbe01e724/deep/0/OracleTalk%20%7C%20Spreading%20Awareness.png

Thanks!

Oh – and in the second question – how do I create that area above the header submenu (is the the right term) area where the “Search” button is?

Thanks!

It is a great theme and I am thinking of purchasing it. Just had few Question to ask

1. Can I get Mega Drop Down Menu as theme have it in “New Articles Today” for all tabs?

2. How many Sub-Nav Menu I can add to the theme?

3. Is it possible to add menu to particular post?

Waiting for your reply. :)

1) You can do mega menu functionality for any minisite, taxonomy, category, or tag – is that what you mean?

2) As many as you want!

3) So you mean just to have the menu at the top for one specific post, or do you mean change the menu at the top depending on the post, or something else? Please clarify further, thanks.

I have 2 questions, can i switch the comments to disqus and what font are you using for the logo? + is it possible to male a listing whit (in my case) band profiles? So bands can sign up and get listed in a page? Thanks!

Yes you can use Disqus for comments, the theme is compatible. The logo font is Headliner no. 45. Yes would work great for a band listing site!

hey , looks great, but what about colors..? like backgrounds ae… it’s so white that it could be confusing… No demo with colors..? thks

It’s meant to be pretty minimal with the layout, but if you wanted to change colors you could make some CSS adjustments. There are several color pickers for you to adjust the colors as it stands now, and you can definitely set backgrounds for specific posts and minisites (or overall background) to give it more contrast. Look at this minisite in the demo for instance: http://www.industrialthemes.com/steam/movie-minisite/

Lots of variability in the way you present the site via the theme options. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions or help clarify anything further, thanks!

Brian,

I really like the big beautiful Samsung ads on The Verge. It seems like they are using Steam for their framework. How do I support those types of ads in my Steam Framework? What ad server do you need to use? Do I need a special Ad widget to be able to offer those types of ads? (see link below)

https://www.evernote.com/shard/s106/sh/f56fd1be-e8c0-49dd-bb58-a0d34c4b7b44/a1187a35ed888faae8d11eb98ded0e87/deep/0/The%20Verge.png

Wow that’s quite a compliment – they’re actually not using Steam, it’s their own proprietary design. Not sure how they’re doing that specific ad actually, I wonder if somehow it’s Adsense?

I like this theme (was considering Explicit – but upon further consideration think Steam might be better for my medical/health site.)

1. Does it support Google DFP advertising? 2. How much control do I have over where the advertising goes? All I see is a top header banner ad. What other advertising banner options do I have? And what placement options?

3. On the issue of the Minisites – I’m assuming that I don’t have to use the minisites if I don’t want to. I just want one site and one design throughout – and I don’t want to get into using non-standard wordpress features. Is that correct – are minisites use optional?

4. I have two separate boxes of static Text that I want to include in an area at the top of the page (1 would be a set of 5 static links to community forums that I want to promote, and a second box would be a list of “contents” that links to old parts of the web site that are not in WordPress.

When I asked about this in the Explicit theme Q&A area you said this – is it also true for STEAM?

You can accomplish this with “a sidebar, and then put a text widget into the sidebar and paste your html into the text widget.

Another way is to turn on ads for the paged grid loop and then set the offset to “4” so the first ad would display in the 4th position and set the number of ads to just “1” and then paste your html code into the ad slot as if it was an ad (the theme just spits out exactly what you put into the ad slots, so it wouldn’t necessarily need to be an actual ad)”

The Static HTML I want to put into these areas are two things – my “Table of Contents” for my site – because most of my site right now (thousands of pages) is in old Dreamweaver pages and I want to leave it that way (don’t want to break links because we have a very high Google page rank), and also the second area is a bunch of links to different Discourse.org forums that we have on a subdomain of our site. I just want the code on the home page of the site, but it might be good to have these on all pages of the site. Right now my preference is just for the home page to have this information.

So – does the Mobile view of the site provide a view that starts in the upper left corner and then wraps down each column of the site? I don’t have experience with responsive sites yet.

Also – I really liked the Oracle Talk web site you sent me – it looks well done.

Oh – and the static code will stay the same.

Cool, then we can make it even easier then, I’ll show you how to add that code directly to the file so it can either display just on your front page or all pages. To see the mobile view, just resize your browser down until it’s about the width of a mobile phone and you’ll see what it looks like on an actual mobile device :)

Hi,

Just curious whether you know about or working on iPad crashing? When you zoom in and out quite rapidly on the iPad Air it crashes the site and throws you out of Safari.

Tested on 2 different ipads on different connections.

Thanks :)

Thanks!

why no go to top button.. :(

There is one. Just scroll down the page a bit and look in the top right corner – it appears after you have scrolled down.

interesting, never seen a go to top button on the.. top :)

bookmarked your theme.

It’s appearing in quite a bit more sites these days if you notice. A lot of sites are going towards a “top control bar” sort of feeling where all of the controls are, including back to top buttons. See The Verge for instance – it’s sort of a newer technique showing up more and more. Thanks for the bookmark!

Hi, I’m a little of a translation noob. So is the translating of the .po file will be enough to fully translate the frond page ? :|

Yes, it contains all strings used on the site.

Thanks for the fast replay !

You’re welcome! Please let me know via the support system if I can help with anything else: http://industrialthemes.ticksy.com

Thanks!

Great theme! Just about does everything that I need it to do! I have stumbled across an issue today though…I’m not sure if its wordpress or something with the theme, but for some reason whenever I do any edits now to the “Theme Options” and click “Save All Changes”, the small rotating save circle that shows its loading never stops and the settings actually never save….at first i thought it was a slow internet connection but the other sites that I’m working on load normally and fast. Any idea as to what could be causing this? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! :)

Glad you’re liking the theme! This is specifically addressed in this FAQ: http://industrialthemes.ticksy.com/faq/1055

Please let me know via a support ticket if you continue to have further issues, thanks!

I bought the Steam theme and I was excited to see your next update, but you launched the Explicit theme and in my honest opinion, the Explicit theme as a whole feels like the update the Steam theme should have gotten.

The themes look and function very similar except for small modifications that I would love to have gotten in the Steam theme. For example, the slide shows in Steam are buggy and I’m being forced to replace them with 3rd party slide shows, but the slide shows in Explicit seem to be functioning smoothly; especially when playing video (which can be a inconsistent in Steam). Also, when using a 3 column layout in Steam each column’s width is the same, but in Explicit you can have two narrower columns and 1 wider column—which is a small modification but a really nice option.

There are a number of other improvements in Explicit, but none of the improvements are big enough to warrant an entirely new theme, in my opinion, and I’m concerned that issues with the Steam theme will not get resolved in a timely fashion because improvements might be carried over to an entirely different theme—forcing me to pay for a whole new theme if I want to fix bugs or add small modifications.

I should also note that I purchased the Made theme over a year ago (different account) and watched as you made substantial improvements to it over time, so I really hope that you make substantial improvements to the Steam theme as well and do not save all the moderate and good improvements for entirely different themes.

- a fan

One thing to note is that Explicit is an entire framework rewrite. I’m not sure what you’re seeing from the front end that looks so similar, but the back-end was hundreds of hours of re-written framework. Explicit an Steam are as different as any two themes we have released – probably the most different from each other yet. Perhaps you should spend a bit more time analyzing the features and functionality of each theme.

Also you should check out the update log for Steam and look at all the updates and enhancements that have already been performed up to now: http://industrialthemes.ticksy.com/faq/1457 That’s definitely not an update log of a theme that is not being kept up to date, and it’s more active than 90% of themes on ThemeForest.

I do plan to continue to keep the theme updated as I have done in the past, especially to ensure it works with future version of WordPress.

I might have been too quick to judge, because on further review it is clear the framework is different and I should have pointed that out. On the front end side, for a novice, it feels like the same theme to me except for additional features, but I can see how some of these features are available due to the new framework and when you do some digging there are some substantially different features. In no way do I want to take away from the great work you guys have done over the years, and hey, I might just buy the Explicit theme now! Thanks for the response.

Our goal is not to force our users to have to buy our new theme every time we release one, and I just wanted to make sure you didn’t think that. Our goal is to provide something new and unique with each new theme release while maintaining our current themes with new updates and development. For instance Explicit doesn’t have the same minisite functionality that Steam has, but it has other features in other areas that Steam doesn’t have. Let me know if I can help answer any other questions about either of the themes!

Hi, again.

DW Argo has a very nice live-blog capability built into it, and I was wondering if the Steam theme could do the same without having to install any plugins: http://demo.designwall.com/dw-argo/live-event-apple-introducing-ios-7/

Basically, that is the only aspect that I am conflicted on between the Steam theme and DW Argo. If there is some sort of live-blog capability for the Steam theme, please let me know, and I will happily purchase it immediately.

Thank you.

Steam does not come with a live blog functionality like that link you posted for the DW Argo theme – this would need to be accomplished with a plugin or theme modification. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions about the theme, thanks!

pre purchase question:

Are there ad slots? I can see ad slots in your Explicit Demo, but not in your Steam demo.

I just don’t have them setup right now in the Steam demo. There are lots of ad slots including ads within loops with increments/frequency/offsets controlled in the theme options, and there are also other ad areas like header, footer, widgets, etc.

ThemeForest just informed me there’s a new version of Steam available today. Could you please describe its features? What was changed? What files and folders should be updated now? Thank you!

Oh good, thanks for confirming that the fix worked! The modified 1.8 is in the approval queue right now, should be approved soon (but you don’t have to update since you already have the fix)

Sure, and I’ll let you know if I find another issue :)

Hi,

Any chance someone translated the theme in French and sent you the files ? I translated Made last year and I was hoping I wouldn’t have to tackle it again this time around :) (also absolutely perfect your themes are a real pain to translate I must say ;).)

If not I’ll send you my translation when finished in case anyone needs it.

Thanks

I don’t have the files but feel free to open up a public ticket to see if anyone else has. And I would greatly appreciate the translation if you’d be so kind. The support center is here: http://industrialthemes.ticksy.com

Thanks!
