Hi,
I’ve purchased the html/php version of Sentinel. In geneal it looks great and the wesite I’m creating with it in general works nicelly. But I have some issues:
- gmap: I wonder if a fallback or something can be used in case the api doesn’t work.
I've got a page using the gmap api included. In slow connexions this api loads really slowly and anything else using javascript in the page won't work until this load ends. Besides this, inexplicably, this api had stopped working in firefox 28.0 (opera, chrome IE work), so the map doesn't load and nothing else using javasript in the page works (for example an accordeon section).- portfolio:
Also inexplicably the portfolio script that loads images and title-bar filter has stopped working in Firefox.
Have any clue for this? I’m working in localhost (wamp server) but connected to internet and didn’t have any problem until now.

1) I use the .php version but the contact form is not working for me. So my question is, how can I make it work?
2) Is it possible to highlight the current page button in the menu? Like for instance on de homepage ‘HOME’ would be red. That would really be a plus.

1.) We didn’t implemented the contact form. But you simply do it by our own, by using the PHP “Mail” function. http://php.net/manual/en/function.mail.php It should be really simple.

You would have to customize it a little. For example if you have a blue skin then open blue.css file and add there this at the end:
.navigation-1 .current-menu-item .top-menu-item-a {
color: #0093cf; }
Then you would need to add class “current-menu-item” on the top level LI element which you would want to highlight. This is easier done in HTML version than in PHP where you would have to program it in a way that you know where you are at the moment.

Hi! First of all, sorry for my english… I’ve purchase the html version, and i have a problem. Just download the zip file, in the “single-portfolio.html”: - After load, if a try to click on the left arrow for the slider, it doesn’t work, and after that, the right arrow doesn’t work too. But I have no js errors…
- When I put differents images, when I reload the page, the first image I see, it’s the last in my list, and if I click right (no left this time), the slider pass 2 images… after that, you can move left or right, because it works…
That happen only in chrome, not in iE…
can u help me, please?

Hi We had a strange request from our customer which to make this site non-responsive. How could we make that non responsive. That means the design should looks similar in every device. There wont be any column changing or anythng.. is there is a quick fix for that?

But there’s something I don’t understand: I’ve been to the “help” file, I saw that if I wanted to change the color BG, I had to found the line “body.boxed{” but I can’t found it.
What can I do ?
Edit: same as btaylor, there’s no “body.boxed{” line. I do not expect to be refunded, I just want a correct file. I’m too advanced in my work with your template, I can’t go back. Please, please, please, help !

Yes, that exact line is not present in HTML version by default, but you can just add it like this anywhere in CSS:

I bought the stand alone html version of this only to find it vastly incomplete and broken. I would like a working version or my money refunded please. If I wanted to take the time to code in everything you left out I would have written it myself.
The skin variables are widely left out and the boxed version customization variable are completely missing.
It’s quality work, don’t misunderstand but just a complete show of laziness in the HTML only version.

I did read the documentation. (All four lines of it) I appreciate your response and I wish you had a more private communication as to not put this out so public but the product is clearly incomplete/broken. I do not expect it to work with WP but I do expect it to be complete.
There is no line in any of the html (or css for that mattter you can search the entire file directory of your file set and the only hit for that string you will get is in the documentation) files containing:
body.boxed{
as your documentation suggests. Correct it if you want.. it doesn’t matter to me anymore I’ve moved on to something else.

If you are trying to add a background to a boxed version, you can just add this in CSS:
body.boxed {
background: #ff0000;
}
If you are familiar with HTML/CSS (which you should btw if you want to edit a HTML/CSS template) you should be able to figure this out straight away. I understand the docs are short, but there isn’t much to write about and it’s not a place to teach people HTML/CSS either.
There is no reason to say it’s incomplete/broken just because the docs are short and don’t teach you how to code.
If you have a question then just ask and we will try to help you, even if you just started learning how to code (not saying this is your case).

I am and was fully aware of how to add the desired effect in html and css and while I deeply appreciate you taking the time to “teach” me the code, this is not the complaint. I paid for a complete product which already had the desired effect and the product I received does not have it. If I have to add the effect .. why did I pay you? In the demo there are several bg effects in place.. that’s what I paid for.. thats what I expect. Your documentation suggests there are effects and code in place that are not. That is not acceptable in my eyes nor should it be in yours.
Please refer to the above link and the upper left hand corner where there is clearly an area that gives the buyer the impression that you have already completed the code to add desired effects for width, skin color, bg color and bg image.
Only after purchase does the buyer become aware that none of these features are available but need to be coded into the template. This is themeforest. We purchase things here to save time and to avoid having to code things into templates. You are talented and I’m sure a very decent guy but you are dead wrong on this issue. Now my next and final question to you will be this:
Are you going to deliver me the template displayed in the HTML only demo or refund me?

Yes, we can update the code somehow but I am not sure how you want it or if it’s possible/needed at all.
Let me tell you how I see it:
The default state is fullwidth with fixed navigation. There is no PHP in the HTML ONLY package so we can’t create nice options like in the PHP package. That means you need to add/remove tiny little code snippets to customize it. I don’t see any other way that would be really different and much better from all angles than this.
So, example: If you want to have it boxed, then you should add a class “boxed” on the BODY tag. Done.
Another example, if you want a boxed background, then just declare a background-image on the BODY tag.
Yet another example, if you want a boxed color, then just declare a background-color on the BODY tag.
Do you really consider this approach incomplete, unacceptable and worth getting a refund? Personally, I am confused by you.
P.S: Aren’t you by any chance referring the whole time to the customizer panel in the top left side that slides in and out on our Live Preview? Is that panel what you expected would be included with your purchase?

I expected no less than any other purchase I’ve made on Themeforest:
The options you show in the demo should be readily available without the buyer having to go off the cuff to create them. For example:
why not just have a boxed.css included with the boxed options that you claim are available in your demo? You know.. provide what you are giving the impression you are selling? I understand why you are confused… because naturally every time I buy a soft drink from Cocoa Cola I have add the desired flavors to it once I get it home and open it.. same scenario. I paid you for features you created, not to add them myself.

We could do it the boxed.css way, but I don’t think it’s a good practice to create more server requests for each separate CSS file. What do you think about this angle?
I agree that you as a customer should not add features on your own that are part of your purchase in general but this is not the case. You have to understand the difference is maybe 20 extra letters you have to write. If you download ie a jQuery plugin that has some options I don’t expect them to be listed in the init code of the actual production version but it is expected of me to fill them in as I need them.
Again, this is the code snippet we are talking about, the one we feel you should be able to add on your own easily:

}
And you are telling me this code should be already prepared for you to come and just change the “none” value to something else – like this:
body.boxed {
background: none; /* change "none" to something else */
}
Okay, I get it, but why are you so obsessed about it? Can’t you just write the extra 20 letters on your own? There is maybe 10 000 lines of awesome code in there and you pick this tiny usability little thing and confront me with it the way you did.
It’s not even a real (complex) “option”, if you want a background on a boxed body then just add a background to a boxed body. I think that is simple enough.

It’s a simple thing yes… so why didn’t you just take the extra 30 seconds to do the right thing the first time?! This is exactly my point. People ..can… make the change.. but they shouldn’t have to because you represent the feature as preexisting.
I’ve long since solved the issue by simply choosing another template. I just chose to make it known that I am against any form of supporting the practices you are currently engaged in. If you are willing to leave the burden on those who purchase your work on such a small and simple correction you will no doubt do the same on large and complex issues and the industry is better served if you and those like you are weeded out or forced to hold yourselves to high standard.
If you weren’t prepared to add the 61 characters required to make the feature work in the product you deliver upon its purchase then you shouldn’t have added the feature to the demo. As many people would undoubtedly have purchased it based solely on the features of the demo only to have go in and do it themselves.
Now as for the proper correction.. don’t create a separate file for 61 characters of css.. that’s not efficient. Create a duplicate of your primary css file and simply add the 61 characters to it and then you can reduce your 4 lines of documentation to just one line:
To used boxed and background features change the html files to reflect boxed.css instead of style.css
And yes. I still expect a completed product to the specs of your demo or a refund. It’s ridiculous to have to argue and carry on about 61 characters or $15.. when I have a client approach me in this fashion and its made clear that I’m wrong.. I just correct it.. or I refund them… no argument.. no days of carrying on or forcing them to explain themselves.. I just do it.. it’s the right thing to do. Only difference is I don’t provide anything incomplete to what I said it was going to be or for $15.. haha…
Correct the fileset and alert me to its availability or refund me. I’m quite done discussing this issue with you.

Lets agree to disagree. We had 15 000+ customers and I disagreed with maybe 3 of them including you so please dont take this lightly. For all I know you just want a refund and are looking for an angle to get it – I will never know for sure. I think we need a 3rd party to step in because there is nothing more to discuss between us two, we both made our points. Please ask for a refund at Envato Support (only they can do it anyway) and describe the issue. If they feel the refund is possible in your case then they will refund you. I do agree that we disagree. However, I would question why you wouldn’t take the clear option and just deliver a complete fileset to me as well as your future customers. That’s all I ask.. I gave you options.. both simple options… 61 characters and maybe 5 minutes of your time to copy the demo to the purchasable download or initiate a $15 refund.. which I could careless about .. its $15.. I’m more concerned with you holding yourself to higher standard and being accountable for your work and misrepresentations.

a) The HTML_ONLY version is not written by hand, it is generated from the PHP version using some complex custom written generator. So I would have to think of a way to incorporate this in an unobtrusive way to the PHP version as well where it would look a little out of place. Maybe even rewrite the generator itself. Then I would have to tag it under version control, pack it, upload it to Envato FTP, fill-in the review form and send it for review again. Its not 5 minutes if you want to do it properly, its much more actually. I understand you dont know this background – I didnt want to bother you with these details.
b) I am still not convinced that this update would be of any real value to an already great product – at least not so much to warrant me going through point A just because of this. Not to mention the HTML_ONLY version is only half of your purchase and the one that probably gets used less than the other half, the PHP version.
c) The way you have reported your concern for the first time, talking about refunds and our laziness, that was really off putting to say the least. You were quite disrespectful. No money in the world entitles you to such behaviour over such a small concern.
So there you have it, if you combine these 3 points together I came to a conclusion of not doing this. Hope this helps to clear the reason behind this decision. If there will be a need to do an important update, I will re-visit this idea and do it while I am at it, but not now because of the above points, especially a) and b).
