I noticed that making changes in Wordpress is really slow with the Captiva theme, sometimes I get errors. Anyway to speed this process up? Other then that it’s perfect!

Colm,

Seems to be that when I go to edit any of the properties I get a loading wheel turning and either says connections lost or something. But I am connected wifi and I did it by ethernet cable. I still get the same issue. Doesn’t seem to pull the data fast enough. 25MB download speed and 5MB upload speed.

Thanks, Robb

Connection lost. Saving has been disabled until you’re reconnected. We’re backing up this post in your browser, just in case.

Hi,

Can you send me your WP login details to support@commercegurus.com so I can see this issue first hand?

Thanks,

Colm

Hi just purchased this theme. Where do I get started? I have a zip file. How do I edit and upload?

Thanks,

Hi there Tenacore,

thanks for your purchase!

If you unzip the zip file you’ll find a documentation folder within which there’s a folder called “Captiva”.

This contains an easy to follow guide and links to video tutorials which will guide you through the install and config process.

If you have any questions after you take a look at those just drop us a comment here and we’ll be here to help :)

Colm

How can I turn off “archives”? My site is not post driven. I don’t have the widget installed on any widget areas.

Please disregard. I figured it out…:)

Hi Stacy,

glad you figured it out :)

Colm

Hi Simon. Is there any way to have the Captiva Logo Carousel do a lightbox pop up instead of link to a URL?

If not, is there an easy way to create a carousel that could do that?

Thanks!

Hi Patty

I’ll look into this and get back to you tomorrow.

Best,

Simon

Hi Patty,

You won’t be able to do this with the Captiva Logo carousel but you could use this plugin instead

The free version will do exactly what want.

Thanks so much, Colm!

Hi, great theme and good job. And bought this.

Need help in setting up some items.

1. I don’t have logo yet. If I don’t upload logo, then Site Title should be displayed in place of logo. But it is not displaying. Do I need to set ant settings?

2. How do I create a news letter subscription same way the demo site has in footer as “Newsletter signup”?

3. How do I setup product filters such as “Filter by size”, “Filter by color” etc in “SHOP” page sidebar?

Appreciate your help on this.

Regards Sree

Thanks for quick response Simon. I am testing this on my local machine. I cleared everything and reinstalled again and I can see Site Title in place of logo now.

I need one more help.

In the demo site, if I click on “SHOP”, then all the products across all categories are displayed. How can I do that?

Regards Srikanth

Hi Srikanth

That’s just the default landing shop page WooCommerce sets up. The page ‘Shop’ is created upon importing the XML file. It’s set to be that in WooCommerce > Settings > Products: Shop Page. You can just add it to the menu then after.

Best,

Simon

Thanks a bunch Simon. Appreciate your help.

I’ve used the template from the demo(e-commerce) for our home page. I’m having some issues with the buttons in a few of the elements. The buttons are populating multiple times in some of the elements: Captiva Content Strips- have 3 buttons and the ref link is removed. Captiva Video Banner now has 5 buttons and my text content is not visible. I’ve corrected a couple of times today. Made sure the message was completed; then updated page to ensure changes took to no avail. Please help!

Hi Stacy,

You can use it if you wish – there are 3 urls to use – if you send me your WP login details I will upload the videos to your media library and link to them there which is probably better for long term use.

Colm

Hello! Today I updated Captiva theme and had forgotten you had upload the video urls on my backend. Would still love to use. Can you do again?

Hi Stacy,

Given it’s been a year I don’t recall what this is about :)

You’ll need to send me an email to support@commercegurus.com stating exactly what your request is.

Thanks,

Colm

Thanks, but I tried it and it didn’t seem to work. Here’s the page: http://ursospecial.com/?product=lunch-notes-set-1

See how the text to the right of the image doesn’t have paragraph breaks, whereas the text below (in Product Description tab) does? I’d like for the text to the right of the image to have paragraph breaks.

Thanks!

Hi Patty, can you email your WP Login details to support@commercegurus.com and I’ll take a look!

Thanks!

Simon

Thanks for getting back to me Simon. I think I figured out a way to do it. I’m just going to add

&nbsp

Hi there. Is there any way to put paragraph breaks in the short description section of a product page? It seems to work in the Product Description section that’s below the images (in the Description tab) but not in the short description section.

Thanks!

Hi there!

If you add this bit of code to ‘Custom Code’ under ‘Captiva Theme Options’ it’ll add increased space between paragraphs:

div[itemprop="description"] {
margin-bottom: 30px;
}

Simon

Hi,

Couple of things if you can help?

1, How can I hide the layerslider on all mobile devices. I can’t see an option in the settings.

2, When viewed on an iPad in landscape mode the screen goes blank (white screen).

Regards,

Ash

Hi Ash

On the first point, if you add this block to ‘Custom CSS’ in ‘Captiva Theme Options’ it should hide LayerSlider on mobile.

/* All Mobile Sizes */
@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
.wpb_layerslider_element {
display: none !important;
}
}

On the 2nd, your site loads fine for us on the iPad horizontally. I’d suggest turning off the preloader and trying it again. A couple of the slider images are quite large too so perhaps you could reduce their size and see if there’s a difference.

If there are any other issues, you can mail us at support@commercegurus.com

Best,

Simon

Thanks Simon!

I tried to upload Visual Composer new update, but get an error “Downloading package from envato market…

Error on unzipping package” I have verison 4.2.3.

Its been extremely slow on loading that I have enough time to get a bowl of cereal, cup of coffee and reply to a couple of emails and it still hasn’t loaded. Please help!

Hi shankinson,

Thanks for getting in touch!

The theme currently ships with and support VC 4.2.3 – we’ve not yet released an update to support the most recent version of Visual Composer so I would stick with 4.2.3 for now for best results.

In terms of your speed issues – if you send me on your WP login and Control Panel details I’ll conduct a quick review of your server environment – support@commercegurus.com – there’s no reason that it should be taking any more than a few seconds to load pages with the latest version of the theme unless there’s something going on in your specific environment which I should be able to ascertain quite quickly.

Best,

Colm

Okay, I double checked and I needed to update Captiva. After making a backup of site, updated theme and now visual composer is working fast…If I still have speed issues, I’ll email info. Guess I needed that cup of coffee to problem solve this morning. Thanks for quick response. Stacy

Hi Stacy,

Glad it worked out :)

I’m pretty sure a good cup of coffee is half the solution to most problems :)

Yes absolutely send me on your details if you’re having any others and we’ll be here to help!

Colm

It looks like the sidebar is set to the left by default and I am unable to find an option to place it on the right side.

Hi there,

thanks for getting in touch!

We just released V1.3 which provides new Blog settings theme options to control the sidebar position on your blog pages.

If you mean normal pages this is done with a page template. Just select the relevant page template you need for a sidebar on the right hand side.

Hope this helps!

Colm

Hi Colm / Simon,

Just about to purchase your theme. May I do couple of feature requests?

1. When you click on a product image, is it possible to add a pop-up (don’t know what they are called) with product details?

From there, users could directly add to cart or share on social networks.

Similar to this:

2. Remove wordpress topbar (MyAccount) when logged in?

The floating header is obscured by wordpress bar like in this image:

Best Regards, Tuning

Hi there Tuning,

Thanks for getting in touch!

Re: 1 – this is commonly referred to as a “Quickview” feature – it’s not something we’ve included in the core of the the theme yet – it’s in our roadmap to be integrated into core in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime it is possible to do this with Captiva by using the Ultimate Addons plugin that we ship with the theme which has a WooCommerce products carousel which includes an optional Quickview feature just like the one you referenced.

Re: 2 – yes this is possible to do easily within WordPress itself under your profile – only Admins see this :)

Best,

Colm

can you please help me with the installation.. having problem with importing demo data thanks

Hello vri5hank

Would you mind sending on your WP site and logins and FTP details (cPanel also if needed) to support@commercegurus.com and we’ll take a look.

Thanks!

Simon

Hi,

I am about to purchase your theme but I would like to know:

1. if it’s possible to add as much Filter as we want according to the features of a product.

ex: I want: a car + blue + AC + Radio + .... and it will display all the models according to the N+1 Filter.

2. Please can you confirm that all the prices/possibility to purchase Item can be removed from the website ? I want indeed to advertise some products but don’t want to give the possibility to purchase item on the website.

3. I need my website to be in French & English, this is possible with your templates right ?

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

YAL

you are most welcome :)

Hi,

I purchased your theme, and I would like to know how to configure the display of the menu in order to have the same result as your “SHOP menu” (displaying Main categories & under sub-categories withing the same page).

Thank you a lot,

Regards,

YAL

Hi Yal

Good timing! Colm has just recorded a video tutorial on this very topic. You can check it out here:

http://www.commercegurus.com/2014/08/18/setup-woocommerce-mega-menus-captiva-theme/

Hope that helps!

Simon

Dear mrs/mr,

I have seen your template http://themeforest.net/item/captiva-responsive-wordpress-woocommerce-theme/full_screen_preview/8241498.

We have some very bad experiences with template suppliers, where the demo looks beautiful, but the download inclusive demo data is real bull shit.

So my question is or you give me the template inclusive demo data that is exact 100% the same as your demo template http://themeforest.net/item/captiva-responsive-wordpress-woocommerce-theme/full_screen_preview/8241498.

If this is 100% the same, I will purchase your template.

Thank you and best regards, Fatih

If not, can you give guarantee to give my money back?

Hi heltim,

Unfortunately no that’s not something we can offer. That is themeforest policy. Please see more here

http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/256/55/can-i-get-a-refund-for-an-item-i-have-purchased

The theme is fully functional and themeforest would only grant a refund if there was the theme is malfunctioning which it is not.

So if you do decide to purchase you wouldn’t be able to get a refund if you were not happy with the demo data etc.

Ok than i don’t want buy it

Please take a look at the following image http://i61.tinypic.com/fnhao5.png.

Is there a way to remove the double arrows?

I’m using Firefox.

Hi there,

If you add this line to the ‘Custom CSS’ in ‘Captiva Theme Options’, the up/down arrows should be gone in Firefox. We’ll include this in the next release.

.woocommerce .cart .quantity input.qty {
    -moz-appearance: textfield;
}

Best,

Simon

Thanks Simon, that worked a treat!!

Hello I have purchased this theme and when I activate it, my site breaks. I get a internal error message saying a configuration file is missing or something to that effect. I have activated several different themes and they display correctly can you please advise.

Hello asapmultimedia

This sounds like a permissions issue – would you mind sending your FTP, CPanel and WP Login information to support@commercegurus.com and we’ll take a look right away.

Thank you!

Simon

Hey again,

I can’t seem to find where i can set up PayPal on the website so that people can start purchasing things. Also, i was wondering how i can edit the products within the three categories i made as well as create new pathways for the products i listed in the drop down menu of Shopping. Thank you so much!

-Michael

Hi Michael,

nice to hear from you again :)

1.) re: Paypal – there’s a nice guide covering the setup process here http://docs.woothemes.com/document/paypal-standard/

2.) re: editing products – the easiest way to edit all your products is via the main “Products” left hand side menu option you should see once you login to WordPress. Again Woo have a great guide here http://docs.woothemes.com/document/managing-products/

3.) re: new Pathways for your products

Once you’re done editing your products you can manually update the categories and subcategories they are assigned to. You might also need to manually update the menu links under your Shopping dropdown from within Appearance->Menus.

Hope this helps!

Colm

You are awesome!

Hi, Probably a basic question, but is the WooCommerce plugin necessary for Captiva to work? I’m thinking of just creating ‘buy now’ buttons that feed directly to PayPal (only have a few products). Probably don’t need most of the WooCommerce features, but I love your theme.

Thanks!

Hi there mgkrewson,

thanks for getting in touch!

No WooCommerce is not necessary. As you’ll see the theme is optimized to work really well with WooCommerce but it can be run without it if you wish.

There is also a catalog mode available in WooCommerce which lets you setup products and then you can link directly to external links (like Paypal) for the actual sales process.

This might be useful for when you do eventually switch to using all the features of WooCommerce as your products will already be in a product database.

But if WooCommerce is still overkill you could just use Visual Composer to setup some nice product pages in WordPress as standard pages and then link those directly to your Paypal checkout.

If you’ve any more questions just let me know :)

Colm

Thanks! And thanks so much for the quick reply!

You are most welcome :)

Hi, i don’t know how to create the same mega menu for my catalog as in your demo. Do you have a tutorial for it please? Thank’s! ;)

No it didn’t match with my website online & with a local website. I send you login to my website through email. Thank’s

Hi there,

I got your email. I sent you instructions on how to setup the Mega dropdown. Let me know if you need any further assistance!

Colm

Thx Colm. I forget to import the captivadatademo_1.1.xml. Now it’s working! Fast reply from support
