Hello,
This theme is absolutely amazing!!
I have a couple of questions:
I noticed there are no “share buttons” with post. Is this not already included in the theme and just not turned on?
Is there a feature to have each author have his/ her own page? They currently show them all on the same page and when their name is clicked it takes you to their articles instead of a profile style page. Also, can the post author text be edited to add like the authors twitter handle(or icon) after their name?
Also, are the “what is your reaction” emoticons available on Steam like with Explicit theme? if not what plugin would emulate this feature?
Lastly, will you ever add the “billboard background” feature on Steam as with explicit?
Thanks
Chris
Correct, if you wanted to add share buttons to posts just use any plugin which will be compatible with the theme. You can create a page within your site for each of your authors and then link to it from the author’s bio if you want (or use the author’s website URL field for that).
If you wanted to add the twitter handle you’d need to manually add that into the theme code – I could show you where that is.
The reactions component is not available with Steam – you’d have to use a plugin to add in this functionality. I’m sure there are some good ones out there, but I haven’t specifically looked.
I have the billboard layout as a future possible theme update for Steam, but I can’t guarantee when/if this will happen and it wouldn’t be really soon.
Please let me know if you have any further questions about the theme, thanks!
Ok thank you for your help! I will get with you shortly to get info on how to add the twitter handle..thx – Chris
Thanks, I’d be glad to help!
Hi, is this theme compatible with the plugin called Ubermenu – mega menu? What I mean is if you can use this plugin to stylish and completely customize the menu (or menus) in this theme.
Thanks.
Yes, this theme is compatible with that plugin. We have users who are using that and the theme is compatible since it uses the standard wordpress custom menu feature which ubermenu is compatible with.
Thanks, another question about that. Do I will have to Integrate manually? (inserting the php code provided by the plugin in the header.php)... or it will integrate automatically by just selecting a theme location in the “menu” settings in wordpress?
Hi again, I was researching about this matter and it seem pretty much a very complex process… or at least it is to me. Can you summarize what would be the steps to do this? Because it seems like the theme use a complex custom menu. It seems like the steam menu has to be disable completely and then it can be replaced with the ubermenu plugin by inserting the php code provided by ubermenu manual integration.
Ubermenu comes with a set of instructions on implementing into the theme. You would basically tell it the location of the Steam menu and it would be overwritten with the Ubermenu. I can definitely help you locate any parts of the code or any identifiers in Steam to get it working with ubermenu. Not sure if there would be any style tweaks necessary or not, but I’m sure you can get it to work with Steam. It’s the same as integrating it with any other theme.
I understand your reply, but is not helping me to decide to use this theme or not. If the process would be so complex and time consuming that I would have to spend hours, or I will need to hire someone to do it for me… I don’t think the theme would be a good option for me. Can you summarize the steps? so I will be able to see if I could do it with my limited knowledge, or I will have to ask to someone to do it for me, and be able to know how much it will cost.
Or maybe this could be solved by just using the theme options, or in case that is not possible at the moment, could you consider a way to integrate this solution in the theme options in the future?
Btw, the theme looks good and has a lot of good features, (like the menu) but I really prefer to manage that type of features with external plugins.
Thanks again.
I understand and appreciate your concerns. I have never implemented Ubermenu myself, I have only read up on their implementation steps and helped my customers when they had questions about implementing it. I would suggest contacting the ubermenu devs and asking them how difficult it is to integrate their plugin into a theme, rather than doing it the other way around and asking the theme dev. The idea is that the plugin was made to be integrated with themes as an add-on, rather than themes being made to integrate with ubermenu as an add-on. Top down it would look like this:
Ubermenu >> Steam >> WordPress
So questions about installing and getting Steam working with WordPress should be directed at Steam support (not WordPress support), and likewise questions about installing and getting Ubermenu working with Steam would be directed at Ubermenu support (not Steam support).
I understand your point of view and I agree with it… but, my point of view now is like this:
I need Ubermenu >> I am looking for a Theme that integrate it automatically or an easy paste code integration into header.php
I will keep looking, I really thank you for your time and support.
Thanks, good luck with your theme search! Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
Any update soon ?
We’re constantly working on updates for all of our themes. We don’t have a Steam update specifically planned for release soon, but we will update it going forward. Is there something specific you are having an issue with?
Hey, I have the same doubt about ads. Where on the home page we can put ads? Could we do that on a sidebar? Thanks!
You can put ads anywhere you want on the homepage – within any sidebar or footer, header, post loops, between content areas, etc. There are tons of options for ads. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions about the theme, thanks!
Hello
Thinking of buying it, but, I dont see any place/options for ads campaigns? (background, banners, minibanners) ect..
Regards
There are lots of areas to input ads. You can do so in header, footer, between page builder panels, and even directly within post loops. You have the ability to set the increment, frequency, and offset of ads within post loops. I just don’t have any specific ads turned on in the live demo currently.
is there a way to move existing articles from one minisite to another minisite?
Yes, using the Convert Post Types plugin
Do you add “Contents menu” navigation within posts feature to this theme?
Our themes Explicit and Implicit have contents menus within posts but Steam does not.
I know other has this feature. I want to buy Steam. Only negative side for me this feature. can you add this feature or Can I do it myself?
Perhaps you could install a plugin which would add in this functionality for you.
Aren’t there any basic setup instructions for this theme? I have the documentation, but that’s the geeky part, not basic step by step stuff.
One great way is to import the demo content. Also, there are really helpful screencasts which visually show you how to use the theme. There is lots more information in the screencasts and it’s really “non-geeky” and made for novice and non-technical users. Please let me know if you can’t find the screencasts. Thanks!
Hey. Please can tell me if work whith Software Version WordPress 4.0 ? Thanks.
I have not tested with 4.0 yet. I have had users report that it works well with 4.0.
We’d like to integrate Facebook commenting into the site. What would be your recommendation?
Yes, you can definitely do that with the theme – just use a Facebook comment plugin with the theme. Please let me know if you have any further questions, thanks.
Hi,
Fantastic looking theme. A few questions:
1. If I change the grid size to say, 960px, would that screw up the entire layout, or would it be okay?
2. Is it possible to make the search box field permanently visible instead of having to click on the magnifying glass? If not, can the cursor at least be placed in the search field automatically so the user doesn’t have to click on the magnifying glass and then have to click again in the search field before typing?
3. It takes roughly 2-3 seconds for the submenu items to be displayed. Is that by design?
1) It’s based on Bootstrap, and the beauty of that is that you can relatively easily change the overall site width without having to re-do everything.
2) Yes, this is possible. It’s just one simple change – I can help you locate the code if needed.
3) Actually you can just turn on pre-loading of mega menus in the theme options so it loads them on page load instead of hover. I just don’t have that turned on for my demo
Please let me know if I can answer any further theme questions, thanks!
Thanks for the quick reply. I’m torn right now between this theme and Explicit. You’re making my decision very difficult
My current impression is that Steam is a little more dynamic and robust, while Explicit is more streamlined and engaging. Would that be an accurate statement?
What would you say are the main differences between the two?
The major difference is that Steam uses custom post types to create minisites, whereas Explicit uses standard WordPress categories. So I would say go with Explicit if you can get away with basing your minisites on standard categories because it would have better future-proofing, compatibility, and performance, but if you require your minisites to be based on custom post types, then go with Steam. Does that help? Explicit actually has more features than Steam (it is a newer theme), it just doesn’t have the custom post type and custom taxonomy mechanism that Steam has (again, this is where categories come into play)
Please let me know if I can help clarify further.
That makes sense. Thanks for answering so many of my questions.
On a different note, I just noticed something in the demos. Steam is pretty much lightning fast in every aspect, as where Explicit is quite slow in comparison, particularly the menu bar which loads last on the page.
From what I can tell, Explicit refreshes everything visible in the browser when loading a post/page/etc. while Steam appears to refresh only certain elements making load times much faster. Is this something on the back end causing this or just the nature of the theme?
Is this similar to the setting you mentioned earlier about the theme option to load the megamenu first?
Actually that’s only because the Steam live demo has W3 Total Cache active and Explicit does not. If I activated W3 Total Cache on the Explicit demo, it would behave the same way as Steam.
Oh, I see. Alright, thanks for all the info. I appreciate it very much.
You’re welcome, let me know if I can answer any further questions.
As a matter of fact, I do have another question.
Just so I understand completely, the main benefit of Steam is essentially the minisites, and from a visual perspective, each menu item (front page of the minisite) can be customized just like the homepage of the site (with sliders, widgets, etc).
However, with Explicit, each menu item is basically a category and by default will show the archive posts and won’t be customizeable like a page would be. Although, I guess you can use a customized page for the menu item, but then the megamenu would be pointless.
Am I thinking correctly?
Not quite. With Explicit you can actually set a custom layout for each category, essentially giving you the same functionality of the minisites within Steam, so you aren’t losing any of that functionality with Explicit. The only real thing you are losing functionality-wise is the custom taxonomies, but you still get the minisite functionality and you can mostly replicate taxonomies using categories and subcategories.
Very cool. Thanks for the clarification.
One last thing. When you say that with Explicit I’d be losing the custom taxonomies function, you mean that it’s simply not available as a built-in functionality of the theme. I could still create custom taxonomies using the default (non-theme specific) Wordpress procedure. Correct?
Oh absolutely, you could still create custom taxonomies – I was just referring to the theme’s built-in auto taxonomy creator. Definitely nothing in the theme blocking that ability by any means.
Excellent, thanks.
hey i noticed the “turn off unique views” is there a way to do the same on the likes
?
Unfortunately there is not a way to turn off unique likes, but that is something I’ll consider for a future theme update. Please let me know if you have any further questions about the theme, thanks!
Your Themes are awesome. I’ve got Explicit and Implicit.
Quick Question: Can I use Steam without using the mini-site functionality and use it like I’d use Explicit for instance…with just categories and tags?
So glad you like our themes! You can use Steam without minisites, yes. You can use standard categories and tags to organize your content. However please note that you wouldn’t be able to assign colors/icons to the standard categories using Steam – you can only do that for the minisites. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions, thanks!
Hi there, do you have any tutorial about setting up section menu. I can’t add other sub menu inside the main menu.

Hello!
First of all, I want to congratulate you! This theme it’s the best style as I ever seen. Hands down! Magnificent job!
Unfortunately, I have many problems with configurate “Steam” to use for my webpage. I’m not really experienced on that, so I hope you will find a time for answer me!
1) I’m trying to run megamenu on the same way as you shown on screencast, but unfortunately something it’s wrong. All menus are ready, and when I choose option for standard menu: everything it’s okay. Neverless I want to make alive megamenu, so I want to ask what should I do to make them run properly in my case, and what can I do to find enough space to put all pages in sticky menu area – not under?
http://s18.postimg.org/5svyykc5l/Clipboard04.png http://s7.postimg.org/c8dsfxnnf/Clipboard05.png2) How I can hide a display site tittle from single pages, without deleting whole text from options-general.php?
http://s30.postimg.org/a2vqtz241/Clipboard06.png3) I loaded demo settings, so I have right now default minipages on the style settings. Unfortunately I can’t find them on the left site od administration panel (like it should be, when I’m watching your screencast). What should I do to get them back?

Hi, nice theme it is. does it has page builder? and how many layouts it has or possible? does it support 3 Columns content? i mean 2sidebar and main content,
Yes it has a page builder. You can adjust the placement of any of the page builder elements anywhere within the theme via the page builder. You can also have 3 columns of content using the widgets page builder, which lets you have articles in one column and then widgets in two other ones. Please let me know if we can answer any further questions about the theme, thanks!
Hi there,
I would ask the following question:
For the logo image what kind of image format (JPEG, PNG, SVG, GIF or AI – Adobe Illustrator) the theme “Steam” and “Explicit” accept?
Only vector images (SVG and AI)?
Only JPEG, GIF and PNG?
Or all of them?
Thank you.
Any and all file formats work for the logo in Steam and Explicit
Thanks for the quick answer
You’re welcome.
I’ll be using your amazing theme for my next project.
You’re the best author on Themeforest for sure and your themes are really unique and innovative!
Wow thanks so much for the kind words – so glad to have your business!!
Author page remain empty when i add a ministie article (numer of article of that author remain 0 but the article is published and visible insiete the minisite). Have I to link “ministe ariticle” wih “normal wordpress article” in some way?

Thanks!
I opened it, but no answer. Is it normal that the “authors page” displays the author only if he wrote a normal wordpress post but do not displays authors that wrote minitite post?
working through support today, will get to your ticket in the order it was received, thanks for your patience!
Great job one this theme, i thinking about buying but before i want to know something, how does the minisites feature, works inside Wordpress, are minisites stored as categories?
They are actually Custom Post Types which is a WordPress feature. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions about the theme, thanks!
