Hi, Very nice theme. I have some pre-purchase question. Is it possible to change layout of the post “squares” on the home page? Is it styled using page builder or css? Ideally I would like to change it to backbone isotopic layout, so let’s say 3 images : 1 height of 1200px and other two 600px each or similar. Thanks

Hi happster,

Sorry, this is not possible at this time. Literatum come with 3 layouts for the frontpage but none of them is like the one that you describe :S

Hi,

Thank you for this good theme.

Literatum has a quickstart option? Include sample/dummy data, files?

hi jooport,

nop, Literatum don’t include the sample articles and files used in the demo, also it doesn’t have any quickstart option, anyway I think the theme is pretty simple to use. :)

Any way to adjust the number of columns on the homepage? I’d really like to just have one full width column

Sorry HLLWY, at this time it’s not possible.

Does the latest version of the theme come Aesop Storytelling Engine compatible out of the box or it is necessary to modify the functions.php file? Are the storytelling elements highlighted in the demo the only ones which are compatible? Any other examples of use?

Hi sowhatllc,

Of course, you don’t have to modify nothing, just install the theme and the plugin.

Except video and galleries all the components of the plugin are in use in the demo. Sorry, I don’t have more examples.

Hi, sorry but I am still getting holes on the homepage of www.mythaistory.com.

Hi webcoursesbangkok,

The grid mosaic style has 3 columns, so, to avoid “holes” you have to set the posts per page option (in settings -> reading) to a multiple of 3 (3, 6, 9, 12, etc).

You have 11 posts published, I recommend you to set the posts per page option to 9. You will keep seeing a blank space in the bottom of the page when the theme only load the last 1 post (the theme can`t adapt 1 post to fill the space of the 3 columns) but the holes in the other parts disappear.

Sorry for my english.

Wonderful thank you.

Hi,

Love this theme!

I just uploaded it and for some weird reason the links aren’t working. On the home page, I click on the link and it takes me back to the top of the page not to the post BUT the correct url appears in the address bar. I have to reload the page to get to the post. Same thing with the previous and next links at the bottom.

I’ve tried disabling plugins, deleting old themes, clearing the cache, deleting and uploading the theme again but nothing seems to work.

Thanks so much! CP

Also can you tell me what the default fonts are? They’re very nice.

Hi Gryphongirl,

mmm it’s weird. Can you give me the link to your site to see it by myself?

The default font used for titles is Domine and for the posts content is Gentium Book

http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Domine http://www.google.com/fonts/specimen/Gentium+Book+Basic

Hi there! I tried sending you an email from your about.me page, but it doesn’t seem to have worked. While I love the theme, I would like to ask for two things:

1. Is there a way to display a static page as the home page, then have a “blog” menu link which takes one to the Mosaic grid view? I know that I can point to an archive/category page, but I want the specific design of what you call “frontpage mosaic”. You should really consider placing some kind of dropdown menu in settings, where one could choose what is the landing page, and what the blog page.

2. On load, the cover image always flickers and moves a bit, before settling into the right position. Is this supposed to happen?

Many thanks for the great theme!

Hi vukovicnikola!

This is the correct channel to ask about the theme, my inbox is a jungle :)

1. – You can do this with any Wordpress Theme. Create a page for the frontpage and other page named “blog” and then configure your site in Settings -> Reading. http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

2.- Nop, this should not happen. This would happen, for example, when the browser show a toolbar (to translate the site, etc) and you remove the toolbar. because the background image adapts to the new viewport.

Hi! Yes, I know about the option to set a blog page. My problem is that I cannot get the blog page to have the mosaic layout of your theme… How do I achieve that? Thanks

hi vukovicnikola,

Try this (works for me):

Create a page with the name and slug you want, for example “blog”.

Go to Settings -> Reading and select the “blog” page as Posts page, like in this image: http://postimg.org/image/adqqnc7rh/

Then when you visit yoursite.com/blog/ you have to see the blog page, this mean the grid layout if you have this grid selected in Theme options -> Customize options -> Frontpage -> Frontpage main style

If you keep with problems set me up an admin account in your site and send me the credentials through the contact form in my themeforest profile and I try for you. :)

Hello. Please tell me, how to show categories with preview on home page of Literatum Theme in my blog? Like on Home Page of https://gibbon.co/ ?

We write articles grouped to categories (like courses) on http://uxmoose.ru/, and show articles but not categories on home page so scattered and unusable.

Hi rinat-shaikhutdinov,

Sorry, Literatum don’t have this feature. You can set a category for the posts displayed in the frontpage through the customize options. But the theme don’t have any template to show a list of categories. :S

I use Aesop Story Engine plugin for my blog, but the images I float outside the text is not responsive in mobile version. How to handle this issue?

Hi ecoenvato,

What is exactly the behavior of the images. They don’t resize or they disappear?

The plugin have some responsive elements but I don’t know if it does with the images also, for your comment I guess not. I will try to fix it for a next update. :)

Some part of images do not appear in my mobile phone. This issue happens to images that I “float outside the text” (one option offered by the plugin).

I find the issue also in the live preview of this theme here: http://themeforest.net/item/literatum-just-write/full_screen_preview/8523411. Some images in the article do not fully appear on the screen of my smartphone.

In spite of the issue, this theme is really awesome. Thanks for this.

Hi Rafael,

Hope you’re well and looking forward to the weekend! :)

Just a quick question, either as a way to implement through CSS, or a support addition for a future update.

I currently use Livefyre for blog comments (and thank you for your help on centering that!). However, I notice I also get a lot of discussion on Google+ around my posts, as well as on Livefyre itself.

Is there a way to use the Comments Evolved plugin, as used on this post:

http://morningrainpublishing.com/guest-post-jaclyn-aurores-writing-process/

I have downloaded the new version from Github (as that’s where it’s being updated now), and when I activated it, it went full-width (much like Livefyre did before you coded it for me).

Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hi Danny!

Hope you’re well too :)

I tried but I don’t find a clear way to modify the style of the plugin with CSS. I tried with this code to avoid the full width problem and center the comments but it don’t have a method to set margins or differentiate the comments section with a background color or something similar.

body #comment-tabs {
    max-width:640px;
    margin:auto !important;
    margin-top:50px;
}

No worries, thanks for trying! :)

Just purchased your theme! :)

I’m having difficulties to locate Template selection whenever I want to create a new Page (archive page for instance). Pages > Add New > Page Attributes. The option to choose a Template under Page Attributes is not there?

Hi koelman!

I don’t know if I understand you. Literatum don’t need any template to work and it don’t have any page templates. To see an archive page you can link directly to the year page. Example: http://kohette.com/wpthemes/literatum/2014/

Ah, I see. thanks!

Hello!

Thank you very much for this wonderful theme.

I can see that many people post some features or improvements they would like to see in the next versions. I’ll keep this tradition :)

1. Would it be possible to combine all CSS and all JS in one file BUT without adding them into to the HTML? I mean, what you did is nice but it could be even better.

2. Would love to see all these inline javascript <script>[...]</script> and other onclick=”” removed! Is it possible to put them in a separate file? Even though a PHP file if it needs to be edited by users.

3. It could be nice to set the min-width to 1000px instead of 640px for viewports wider than 900px.

4. I don’t know if it is possible already but get Literatum child ready would be useful.

I understand you’re certainly busy so, feel free to send a message if you need help :)

Hi spyesx!

Thanks for your suggestions! I will take them in consideration :)

Rafael,

The following is definitely a bug.

It happens when the visitor scrolls down a post with the sidebar menu open. If the post cover image goes out of sight, and the visitor scrolls back up to bring it into view, it either disappears altogether (leaving a black background) or looks glitchy. As soon as the visitor closes the sidebar menu, it returns to normal. I have posted a screen recording on a private page on my website to show you the behavior, which you can watch here:

http://joshsmith.xyz/parody-and-satire-page/

Please let me know when you’ve seen it so that I can delete it. Thanks!

You know what, it’s an .mov file, so it’s just a link. You have to click it to download the recording. (It’s 60mb in size.)

Thank you very much for the video Josh! You can delete it now.

Yes, it seems an strange bug. I think this only happen when the body content has a video embedded. I’m going to investigate!

Hi. Quick pre-sale question.

I love the theme, by the way. So is it possible to post articles without the name of the author? I have a journal, and will be posting all the articles myself, so I don’t want profiles and links for authors. I will be writing them out as part of the subheads.

Also, is it possible to remove comments and “mins read” so that none of that shows anywhere?

Thank you.

Hi eventco,

You can change the author of the entries all at once selecting the entries and selecting “edit” in the left corner dropdown. See the image: http://postimg.org/image/l7inca6sb/

Yes, you can hide the author name, read time, comments, etc through the theme options.

Thank you, Kohette. You are making the web a more beautiful place. This should be marketed to all journals and publications!

I’ll make sure my organization buys this for our 2014 budget. Meanwhile, you keep up the good work.

Thank you very much for your words eventco! :) :)

Hi Kohette,

Two pre-sale questions:

1) I have a blog with more than 700 posts. Most of them without feature image. What will Literatum show? A standard featured image?

2) I haven’t got much menu-items (just ‘home’ ‘about’ and ‘archive’). Is it possible to show those menu titles, instead of the menu logo?

Regards,

Luuk

P.S. Great that Literatum is now compatible with Aesop Story Engine plugin!

Hi Kohette

1. – all right, I can live with that. (-;

2. – I’m sorry. No, I want to show the WORDS ‘home’ ‘about’ ‘archive’ in the right top corner instead of the menu logo (the three horizontal lines).

Hi :)

You can use the main menu to display these words (see the image) but the menu button only can be disabled editing the header.php file. Is not recommendable. Also, if you remove the button you don’t have a way to display the right sidebar.

http://postimg.org/image/r1keg2y7z/

I understand, thanks!

Hi Kohette,

Awesome theme!

Only experiencing one little problem. I’ve uploaded an featured image at a certain category, but on the website the background header stays black.

Does the image needs to be a specific size (x pixels by x pixels)? The image I’ve uploaded is 2000×600 pixels, but even a smaller image isn’t working.

Thanks!

Thanks Ptrckz!

mm weird. Are you experiencing this problem with any images or only with one? have the image strange characters in its name or something similar? I really don’t know what could be the reason of the problem. Can you give me a link to check it out myself if the problem remain? Thanks!

Hi Rafael,

Problem—Having ajax navigation enabled prevents the built-in Wordpress audio player from loading the first time you access a post. If you reload the webpage, it will display.

If ajax is disabled for the theme, the audio player displays normally the first time.

Is this a bug? What do you recommend?

Hi joshsmith2020!

The AJAX navigation have this kind of issues with elements that need a full page load. I will try to fix it but I think this have not a clear solution…

If you like Aesop Story Engine you can replace the audio of Wordpress with the audio component of this plugin and its works :).

http://kohette.com/wpthemes/literatum/example-article-with-some-aesop-story-engine-components/

btw, sorry for the delay :$

No problem, Rafael! You know what, I’ve gone ahead and disabled the ajax feature, just because it’s an issue seems to come up with me a lot, and given my content on the site, I’m not going to see a huge increase in speed with it anyway. Plus (not that it’s a big deal to me or anything), I hear that ajax can sometimes get in the way of search engines being able to index the content. So don’t worry about looking into it unless you want to. I’m thrilled that you’ve got Aesop compatibility in this newest update! Thank you!

Best regards,

Josh

Hi Kohette! It’s a beautiful theme, however we need to adjust the way the main menu is displayed.

For the desktop version we need to use the full width of the screen to have the menu items next to each other (currently, if I enter more than 3-4, they get stacked on top of each other) and not have MENU displayed. We do not require the menu that slides in from the right.

For the mobile version we need a drop-down with the respective items, rather than a menu sliding in from the right.

How do we best go about this?

Many thanks.

Hi infoCulinarius,

The main menu is suited to show the few most important links of the page and show the rest in the right slide menu.

I think you have to modify the theme code a little bit to do what you want to do. I only can to point you to the header.php file, here is where are all the html codes for the header. You can to try to modify for your purposes.

The header is contained in the div with id “masthead”, and the main menu is contained in the div with the class “primary-menu-container”.

The CSS for the header is in the file css/style-header.css

Hi Kohette,

For some reason, the menu items on the side-bar menu only show up on the main page of my site: http://shroomstar.ru/ In posts, it’s just empty.

Just in case, here are screenshots. Post: http://img.leprosorium.com/2302368 Main page: http://img.leprosorium.com/2302371

What can be the reason?

Thanks!

Hi wadappen,

In what widget areas are you placing these widgets? Realize that Literatum have some special widgets areas to display widgets only in certain sections. for example, exists and area to place widgets that you want to display only in the frontpage. Maybe are you placing the widget in this area?

Hi Man,
