this is pretty common “error”, you didn’t uncpack archive you’ve download (which contains theme, child theme, PSD files..).

Hi, there is a “custom content” front page box which can be used to insert arbitrary (HTML/JS) code on the front page.

There are 3 box sizes: big (460×500), medium (225×500) and small (225×245) and of course you can choose “custom content” box to use any of them.

This are default dimensions and you can change them using backend setting (you can see on our demo page that boxes are slightly bigger). Note, that in order to not break the grid, there is one central setting (for the medium box) from which dimensions of 2 other boxes are calculated automatcally.

You can take a look at our other Sympagrid theme (http://demo.pukkathemes.com/sympagrid) which has similar system implemented and there are adsense ads in the grid.

Hi, to manage front page content “Front page manager” is used, from which you can insert 3 types of boxes: post, category box (which displays latest or random post from selected category) and custom content box. For all 3 types you can select size: big, medium or small.

So, there isn’t a page builder from which you can insert text widgets, but if you want to insert just text “custom content” box can be used. With it you can insert arbitrary text, html/js code or shortcode, and of course you can insert as many boxes as you like.

1. there is theme setting for width of the “right sidebar (column)”, so yes, you can put 300px wide ad there. For the left pane there should be some CSS tweaking involved, but it’s doable. Also, we have a child theme with “widget area” in left sidebar ready.

2. The last from the 1. answers it. If there is a widget area in the left sidebar, you can put an ad for sure.

3. There is a “custom” box element. In it’s content you can paste arbitrary code (shortcode, HTML, JS..) so it can be used to display an ad.

4. For this a modification should be required, but it’s not that complicated and I’ve seen people doing it.

5. Yes, you can activate Disqus comment plugin and it should display properly.

Follow up question. I’ve tested Uber on a large Samsung tablet and iPad mini. The right hand column doesn’t appear when reading vertically on either tablet. I didn’t see a menu button to expand or close the right column. Does such a feature exist on Ubergrid so that it can be activated if the reader wants to see content in the right column?

Hi, right sidebar should be positioned under the content on “non grid” pages.

On grid pages sidebar is hidden because there is not much point of showing it underneath the content when infinite scroll is enabled. Enabling it would involve some CSS/JS tweaking.

Hi, when theme (or any plugin or even WordPress) updates it overwrites all it’s files. That’s why it’s advise that all changes be done in a child theme ( http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes ).

If you know what files you’ve changed you can copy them to a child theme and then proceed with the update.

Hi, images are by default stretched to fit width of the post “area”. The reason for this is simple, we didn’t want to crop images automatically (which will cause a lot of “cutt of” images).

If you would like your featured images not to be stretched , you could apply this CSS (Theme settings -> Style -> Custom CSS):

1. Sorry, currently theme doesn’t support top navigation.

2. Yes, you can choose for each post separetely which size it should be (big, medium, small). Also, you can set default tile size.

3. I don’t know how exactly would you like to format tile excerpts, but for that standard WP excerpt field is used so you can enter separate content from post content. As for the length, different length is set for different tile size. You would have to make small modifications in the code to change it, but is something we could definitely could help you out with.

Thanks for the very quick reply. Thats good to hear that theres an option to insert shortcodes. My last question is if its possible to show the full content of posts on the front page? Not just the excerpt so users dont have to click on the title?

Hi, you can paste “full content” into the excerpt field and it will be displayed. Also, theme could be easily modified to display “full content” instead of the excerpt (or any other content).

The problem could be the fact that all boxes have fixed dimensions (both width and height) so content should be formatted properly (so always fit). The good thing is that you can change box sizes from Theme settings easily, so you can make them bigger if needed. You only need to set “medium” box dimensions and theme from that calculates what are dimesions for “big” and “small” boxes.
