I’ve read a lot of comments about why Ratings and Reviews are separated because I was wondering the same thing. There may be 1 in 10 that need them separated but honestly from a UX perspective when this theme will be used 9 times out of 10, the Ratings and Reviews need to be combined.

Some of them want to have reviews with an image. that’s why we added. you can always hide them if you don’t want. unfortunately we don’t have the plugin. we need to see how it works and it may take time.

Rob – I know you have a ton of requests coming in and I really appreciate how quickly you at least give a response to all of them.
But to take it a step further – if you combined Ratings and Reviews into 1 plugin, you’d keep everything you can do now, it just would be in 1 spot instead of 2 (which can be very confusing from a UX perspective). A user should be able to rate (5 or 10 star system), upload pictures and leave a written review. If you look at Yelp, Tripadvisor or any of the other location based directories, they have this functionality combined together for the user.

You have a custom post-type called “Item” and I don’t see in the functions file or the plugins that this custom post-type was created. All I want to do is change the label in wp-admin area so the menu is called “Parks” instead of “Item”
Where can I make this change?

Out of curiosity, why is the “Locations” check-box option even there on the submit form? There is a location input field. That should be enough. The locations check-box option forces the user to select a location that might not even be relevant if their location is not an available option on the form. Also, I see that certain things in this theme such as the location flag on the listing image is populated by the locations filter. If the user leaves that option blank on the submit form, the flag shows as “no location”, even if the user enters a valid location in the text input field. That is not correct. The locations flag should be populated by the city of the location the user inputs in the text field, not by the check-box options. Thanks!

The locations are for fitlering and all of related things with taxonomy. the address is for only map to get markers. the tags and categories are showing from the check box. it’s also a category you can use. one of our buyers use as his own names. ex) summer camp (location), winter camp (location)... etc..

Congratulations with the new version. It looks finer, compared to the previous one, but most important it has import capability!
I’d like like to report some bugs:
1. The sticky menu within items is white font on white background and the changes within the Theme settings for Sticky menu don’t affect it.
2. Search doesn’t work
3. The maps are not visible on iPads (I suppose on Safari in general)
4. “Add item” icon in the menu is not working
I have a few suggestions for the new update, which I hope, could be usefull for other of your other customers as well.
A. An item in a directory can belong to several categories (and sub-categories) at the same time (if we take as an example the restaurants a master category would be “Resaturant” wth subcategories: “fastfood”, “slowfood”; “european cuisine”,”asian cuisine” and so on).
So:
A1. the theme should allow importing an item to several categories (now it sees the categories divided by commas as a single category)
A2. selecting several categories in search would help to narrow the search (let’s say people are looking for “slow food”,”asian cuisine” restaurants)
B. It would be nice to have the possibility to decrease the size of the ads in the listing next to box map. Smaller size would allow more ads to be displayed on one screen.
C. For the same box map – when an Item belongs to several categories, the categories (shown on a red baloon over the featured image) cover almost entirely the featured image. In my case I delete this div from the template, but for others I suppose this string should be limited to the first category only.

When importing the items, the locations are imported well, but if you try to import a sublocation, separated by comma (“Location,Sublocation”) it will generate the creation of a new location – Location,Sublocation.

I am glad to hear that import works fine. we just tested a few times and helped our buyers little bit due to busy update. we added “refresh fields” for current clients. it will be also good for new features in the future. we will test some more about import.

1. Could we create “location” below the “category” on Demo2 or Home1 ? 2. If we had installed Other Wordpress Directory theme and want to replace with Javo Directory theme, should we fill in “category & location” again on Javo Directory that we did before on Other Wordpress Directory? 3. 1. Do you mean categories boxes and location boxes? yes it’s possible. they (all of demos) all can be merged and re-organized by shortcodes. except a few js / jquery duplication shortcodes. so you can basically mix them up wherever you want. we will add some video s to have a look in a week.
2. We are currently working on some import features. It worked well for our 2 buyers but we want to test little more. it will be ready soon. when it’s ready you can make csv or xml file from the old theme and import them to our theme. we will also make some videos for it.
3. We removed a demo account since V2.0. however we will create an other server for testing. it should be ready early of this coming week. there will be a link to the server on our demo main page.

So many bugs with the new update. It looks great but there are so many issues with the theme that need to be fixed. For example listings cannot be added as the submit/save button for the listing doesn’t work.

It’s evident that you have a poor knowledge of Wordpress and, worst, you don’t want to “wast your time” reading documentation.
I have not yet bought the directory because i don’t like how Search around my position is managed and i don’t like the responsiveness of mobiles (not very intuitive), but this theme is a very good piece of sofware.

I went ahead and installed the new theme version 2.0 – there was so much stuff messed up after the fact that i reverted back to the old version. For instance, the new item search module is all over the place- misaligned and non cooperative. Switching back to the old theme was like Christmas all over again. I would say avoid upgrading until the bugs are worked out. Wasted a couple hours on this new one. Cheers

How can I put a BACK BUTTON on the single item pages – to direct the users back to the search results page? Site will be used by all ages of seniors and want to simplify. I was just told by Javo Themes that the JD would not allow you to add the search bar to a single item page! Not sure why, but I would at least like to slap a button and some text on the ITEM PAGE to save confusion. Sure, normal internet users know how to press the back button on the browser, some don’t however and just sit there wondering what to do next. WE want ultra easy navigation, and the item page is not quite functional at the moment. Thanks
