Hello , is this wordpress theme compatible with WooCommerce ? Thanks in advance for your answer. Best.
Hello,
Thanks for writing. The theme doesn’t come with built-in integration with WooCommerce. This means that there are no special templates.
However, WooCommerce, should work just fine with the theme. You will need to apply your own styles though.
Best, Juan.
Just curious as to why
and tags aren’t working in either the visual or text editor, thanks!
the “br” and “hr” tags – sorry I entered the full tags in the original question
Which editor are you using? (Text or visual)
There’s a function by default named ‘wpautop’ that will automatically handle the line breaks. All this is related to WordPress itself and not the theme.
Best, Juan.
I tried both the text & visual editor with no luck, however the br tags worked when I utilized it in the description area of the menu categories.
Hello,
I see. Well, that´s related to WordPress itself. If you look over google for “br tag not working in wordpress” you’ll see a lot of forums threads at wordpress in which they are talking about this problem.
Proposed solutions are: using plugins to maintain the html tags(example https://wordpress.org/plugins/tinymce-advanced/), have some CSS rules in order to tweak the p tag instead of using line breaks.
Best, Juan.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah I googled all over for this problem before I decided to post it on here. I think I know the issue. I’m trying to add line breaks or br tags in the text box under individual menu items and it is working when I click into the items however I’ve prevented the item to be clickable on menu templates – so the br tags are theoretically working once you click into it but I need them to work underneath the menu items without having to click into it and unfortunately it just displays as one big chunk of text.
Thanks for your response.
The difference between the text displayed below the menu items on the menu page and inside each element is that on the menu page it is using the_excerpt function, which doesn’t use the rich text formatting options. http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_excerpt
Would you please write me at support@nicethemes.com or open a ticket at http://nicethemes.com/support so we can have a better understanding and follow this issue in a more proper way?
Best, Juan.
Hi, How do I make only the entries from one specific category appear on a page with a “Blog”-Template.
Thanks for any help, Toby
Hi Toby,
Thanks for writing. Well, all you need to do is use the default template for a certain category.
If you go to “Posts > Categories” you’ll see a list of the categories you have in your site. If you put the cursor on top of any you’ll see a bunch of options (Edit, Quick Edit, Delete, View). If you click “view” then you will see the category template (it is like the blog template but it displays items from a certain category)
Best, Juan.
Thanks. I guess my brain gets tired on fridays.
It happens to all of us
Have a nice weekend, Juan.
Hi there,
I recently purchased the theme, nice clean and minimal layout! Currently I have created multiple pages assigned as the menu template because there are so many items if I didn’t separate it and categorize them; and instead threw it all on one page there would be endless scrolling.
Now I seem to have run into a small problem, I’m creating menu categories for one of the pages but it appears that it’s showing up on every page that has been assigned a menu template. (So I have pages for Appetizers, Drinks, etc. and inside those are more categories for Coffee, Milk Tea, Slush and so on..) Am I missing an option somewhere that would allow me to designate the menu categories to only appear on certain pages? Is there a solution or alternative to this? I can’t place them all on one menu page I’m afraid as it would result in a huge headache for users to find what they’re looking for.
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
Thanks for your kind words
What you want to do can be accomplished by copying the menu template to a new template for each category that you want to show in a separated page.
Let’s say, if you want a separated menu page for Drinks, you need to copy template-menu.php to template-menu-drinks.php, and replace the comment ”/* Template Name: Menu */” with “Template Name: Drinks Menu”. That will make a new selectable template in the page editor.
Then, in your new file, you need to locate the call to the get_categories() function and replace the argument “parent => 0” with “child_of => 13” (replacing that 13 in the example with the actual ID of your Drinks category).
Please let us know if this helps.
Best,
Andrés.
Hey thanks for the quick reply. So I duplicated all the templates I needed, everything was pretty straight forward but I’m a little confused on the second part of getting the ID and child numeric portion of the menu categories. How do I find out the ID corresponding to a particular category? Do you mind elaborating a little more on it? Thanks!
You can find the ID by hovering the link of a category (in the Menu Categories section) and seeing the number that follows “tag_ID” in its URL.
I also realized that there’s another way of doing what you need: If you click “View” under any category in the list, you’ll go to a page that lists the menu items you have created under that category only. In Theme Options you can select to display your food menu category template with a grid or list style.
Then, when creating your WordPress navigation menu (check Appearance > Menus ), you can add any “Menu Category” there.
However, the templating menu allows you to be more flexible with how you want to display your pages, since you can add, remove or modify any HTML you need to.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Andrés.
Thanks for explaining how to find the IDs of the categories, I was looking in “inspect element” trying to find it. So now I have the IDs, I tried changing the “parent” to “child_of” in the php template menus along with swapping out the “0” but no matter what number I put nothing shows up :/
Also, the second method you were referring to…I already have my nav all set up currently, I’m looking to have MULTIPLE menu categories show up under each sub-navigation section. In my sub-nav I already have (Main Menu, Lunch Special & Drinks) and I’m hoping once they click on one of them it will take them to a whole page menu with even more categories listed on each individual page (Sandwich, Hot Pot, Chef Specials, etc.) problem is right now the categories are showing up on every single page of the sub-nav.
Gracias!
I think I’ll have to take a deeper look into it. Could you send me the URL of your site and an access to your admin area (user and password – I recommend to create a temporal account) to andres@nicethemes.com?
Best,
Andrés.
Unfortunately currently I’m working on the site under localhost and it hasn’t been hosted live yet. However I took a couple screenshots in hopes of getting us on the same page
So the first screenshot shows the sub-nav dropdown menu – which inlcludes “Main Menu, Lunch Special, Mini Meals and Drinks”. But as you can see when I click into different sub-nav sections the menu categories are all the same.

If I understand correctly, on one hand you have created menu categories and subcategories, with food items under each one of them. On the other hand, you created pages and assigned the Menu template to them. Is that so?
If I’m right, then you don’t really need the second step. Once you created your subcategories and have items assigned to them, the pages containing the items for this subcategories are created automatically. You can check that going to the list of menu categories and clicking “view” under the name of any of them. Then you can add any subcategory you want to your navigation under Appearance > Menus.
Best,
Andrés.
I’m giving your method a try, but I don’t see any categories available when I’m under Appearance > Menus. I clicked on View All under Categories below Pages and Links and there aren’t any categories that I have created in my Food Menu section, the only thing available is “Uncategorized”. Do you have any completed examples of this by the way? The theme example unfortunately only demonstrated the use of the menu for much less complex menus with lower levels of hierarchy. I’m starting to find this simple task quite frustrating :/
Hi,
Thanks for the prompt response. If you don’t get to see the Food Menu Categories over the “Appearance > Menus” section, then you can make them appear with an easy trick.
What you need to do is go to the top right part of the screen and click over the “Screen Options” button. That will toggle a panel in which you will find an option to show (or not) certain elements. Within those options you’ll find one named “Menu Categories”. Please make sure that one is ticked. Then you’ll see the box of Menu Categories on the navigation menu form in order to put them there.
We have a lot of examples of people using multiple menus. For example, this client asked something quite similar to what you have asked, and he did it in our support forum: http://nicethemes.com/forums/topic/multiple-menus-with-sections-ie-starters-main-dessert/
Best, Juan.
I think I got it working! Not seeing the categories in Appearance > Menu at first definitely confused the crap out of me. Appreciate the continuous guidance and support!
No problem
Please, for support, don’t hesitate to write over our forums at http://nicethemes.com/support/ for a better experience.
Have a nice day, Juan.
Another quick question actually, haha! Where do messages go when people fill out the contact form and how do you change where the messages are delivered to?
Also, how did you manage to add the useful google maps portion at the top of the contact page?
Silly me…found all the answers to my own questions. Thank you!
No problem
Have a nice weekend, Juan.
Hi NiceThems
Can I manage several different Menu Lists? I want to display the Wine menu on a different page than the regular food and also have a separate page for the kids menu. Menu Categories don’t seem to work , since they all show up and I can’t control on which page they show up or not. Also, I can’t find the “Menu Category Template” .
Hi There,
Yes, actually you can use the menu categories. You need to find the menu category template. If you take a look at this thread where we explain how to use them, I´m pretty sure you´ll sort things out: http://nicethemes.com/forums/topic/multiple-menus-with-sections-ie-starters-main-dessert/

Hello
Is there a way to change the language of specific Widgets? For example: in which file would I find the Weekdays of the Business Hours widget so I could change them to german? Thanks in advance.
Hello,
Thanks for writing. Please don’t change anything within the files if you are trying to translate your site. You’ll need to follow these steps in order to translate your theme: https://www.gavick.com/documentation/wordpress-themes/wp-theme-customization/how-to-translate-wordpress-theme-into-any-language/
The translation files of the theme are over the /lang/ folder
Best, Juan.
thx
No problem.

Hi there,
I am really struggling to insert the INFOBOXES into my homepage for click-through. How do you insert anything without short codes? Please assist.
Thanks, Tess
I figured it out! Never mind.
Hi Tess,
Excellent
Have a nice day, Juan.
On the menu page – isn’t the page full of loads of MySQL queries? For example we have a large menu of around 50 items and it seems to be loading in chunks – each menu item is a MySQL query – that seems very bad idea?
Hello,
Thanks for writing. There is a query to get the categories, and then for each category there are queries to get the menu items.
It shouldn’t generate any kind of trouble regarding performance.
Best, Juan.
What I mean is if we have around 70 items on our menu, isn’t that like querying the database 70 times? The same as if you included 70 Wordpress posts in a single page? It seems like a very MySQL heavy approach? Could you perhaps add some support for a cache on the menu pages?
No, it means that we make one query with certain conditions and then we parse the results.
Is this theme limited to only 1 slider on the home page? We wanted to add a slider to a sub-page and it seems this is not possible which is a real shame?
Hi,
Thanks for writing and thanks for your purchase.
Yes, the slider is limited to the home page only. Actually, I´m sure you can use a plugin with that purpose in order to have sliders in your separate pages. Something like https://wordpress.org/plugins/crelly-slider/ (it is free) should work pretty well.
Best, Juan.
Hi, your theme is great, did it work well with wordpress 4.0 too? thanks in advance:)
Hi,
Thanks for writing and your kind words. Yes, it is compatible with WordPress 4.0
Best, Juan
Any chance of getting this one in regular html not wordpress?
Hello,
Thanks for writing. Unfortunately not. We don´t have the html version.
Best, Juan.
Hi!
It is indeed a very nice theme
Please tell me if there is a way (either by code or a plugin you might know of) that would allow me to quick edit the menu items inline, from the /wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=menu. Right now, it only shows the item name, category and date.
I would need just the description and price (not using the gluten free, vegetarian options etc. right now).
I have hundreds of items to add, so using a quick edit feature would be absolutely amazing.
Thank you!
Hi,
Thanks for writing and thanks for your purchase.
Unfortunately there’s no such thing. Maybe you can try creating a custom script for that. But, there’s no built-in solution to do that.
Best, Juan
sorry i have some problem i begin to make website with WordPress i buy this theme but i don’t want to my menu name show in my article page can you help my (sorry is my english) photo capture link : http://www.uppic.org/share-BC52_54128701.html
Hello,
Thanks for writing and thanks for your purchase. You want to hide the element or you don´t want to have it in a different color?
Best, Juan
Hi, is there any way to center the text within the navigation submenus? Thanks!
Hi,
Thanks for writing. Unfortunately no through the options. You can always add some custom CSS to get these type of things. There’s some documentation about adding custom CSS in our site: http://nicethemes.com/support/theme-docs/bbq/#custom-css
I’d look over the following class: #top #navigation .nav li ul li a{}
And add a text-align: center;
Best, Juan.
Hi, I am loving this theme so far! However, when I uncheck “Allow people to post comments on new articles” under Discussion settings and save, the “Leave a comment” section is still on my pages for full width and template default. I have emptied my cache in browser and tried again but to no avail. I am creating a site for my business and can’t use this theme if these are on the page. See here: http://peapatchchildcare.com/about-us Thanks in advance!
My apologies, I figured it out already. It only works to remove comments when I uncheck the comments box within the “quick edit” section. Thanks, love the theme!
Hi,
Thanks for writing and the kind words. Yes, also, be sure to disable the comments when editing the page, in the discussion box. That’s another way of disabling the comments.
Have a nice weekend, Juan.
Two Questions:
1:I am also trying to format the portfolio so that the thumbnail of each item is the same size prior to expanding the item for better view.
http://www.dxdigitalmarketing.com/portfolio_page/If you paste the above URL into your search bar, you will see that the portfolio items are automatically changing to the size of the document which is making the grid uneven and disorganized looking.
2:I’m trying to change the size of the slider on the home page. I am using Home 2 template and the slider is automatically stretching to the same height no matter the width of the image. I’m trying to make it a long skinny slider- I would like to make the Height to length ratio 1:5 as opposed to what it is now (roughly 2:5) I can’t seem to find this setting in the theme options. Where can I change the slider dimensions so that the image comes in at real size as opposed to stretching to fulfill the height specified?
Thanks, Ayla
Hello Ayla,
Thanks for writing. You’re not running BBQ on that site. BBQ is a restaurant theme that doesn’t come with portfolios.
Best, Juan.
How can I disable responsive completely?
Hi There,
Thanks for writing.
Unfortunately not. You’ll need to work on the stylesheet by removing the responsive styles.
Best, J.
Hi, how can I actually make the food menu appear as a list? It doesn’t say how in your instructions and I can’t find it in Nice Themes area either. Please help.
Never mind i found it in Theme Options > General
Great – Thanks for the update.
Have a nice day, Juan.
Hi there
I updated my theme and now my retina logo is displaying twice on desktop version?
http://ashpegram.com/truenorth/Hi,
Thanks for writing. Yes, in the latest version we’ve added support for retina displays
If you see the logo twice, it’s quite probable that the old stylesheet is still on cache. Try pressing ctrl R on Windows, or cmd R on mac to refresh the site clearing the cache.
Please have in mind that to have the retina display enhancement, there’s a logo height field now. You’ll need to set this new field through the theme options in order to have your logo well displayed.
Best, Juan.
Hi
Just wondering how to EDIT an existing gallery? Or remove and start again?
Hi,
What version of the theme are you using?
