HI There,

I am having a problem on product archive pages with the plugin Ultimate WooCommerce Brands PRO.

I want to show brand titles on the product archive pages above the product title.

They have said that it is an issue with the WooCommerce category pages HTML structure.

Could you assist with this.

Thanks, Charles

Hi there Charles,

Thanks for getting in touch.

We don’t provide support for third party plugins.

You would need to get specific details as to what exactly the issue is and send them to support@commercegurus.com along with a copy of the plugin and we’ll schedule a review some time in the next week.

Best,

Colm

Hi, thanks for a great theme!

I purchased the theme with the intent to use a different large photo as the page background on each page. However, the image doesn’t seem to be responsive. For example, when viewing on a mobile device, the background image gets very narrow and stretched vertically.

I think if I could set a maximum height, that should solve the issue? For example I can get the desired responsive effect using Revolution Slider plugin… however then I cannot embed columns or visual composer content on top of the rev slider. Therefore, I’d like to ask if you could provide some CSS that will format the background photo correctly for responsiveness.

Thanks so much in advance!! - J

Thanks Colm – will do. What email should I send to?

ah yes that would help alright :)

support@commercegurus.com

Thanks!! Just emailed over more details

No question, just a huge thank you for allowing automatic updates for this theme. I manage over 30 different websites with Theme Forest themes and it seems every one of them has a different update process so having one-click updates for Captiva is a huge time saver for me, so THANK YOU!

Thanks for the kind words Marion2318 – means a lot :)

Ciao, first of all thanks for this great theme. I’ve almost set all upm I’ve only one problem: I’m not able to translate the Cart window on the top menu bar. Everything else is fine, but I just can’t find where these strings are from. Could you please send me some directions? Thank you!

Hi there

You’re not coming up as a user who has purchased Captiva. Can you log in with the buyer ThemeForest account or send the purchase code to support@commercegurus.com and we can help then.

Thanks

Simon

Hi Colm-

I would really appreciate any more help that you can think of beyond it being the hostgator VPS as the issue (we are checking with them but it seems unlikely that we are taxing a system with one free website that has less than 1000 views per day and they have denied this as an issue in the past) and it is not really an option to disable woocommerce as that defeats the purpose of having an ecommerce site.

It was mentioned on a few of these other posts “an update” would help or “certain plugins” could be deactivated or the “preloader” could be turned off to improve loading speed. Right now the number of scripts and stylesheets that are part of the loading process is very large.

The theme is attractive but our business is doing terrible because of the severe issues with loading speed.

Please help.

“Hi David,

Thanks for confirming your details.

Ok so the first major issue is that hostgator’s VPS machines are awful nowadays. I’m a former Hostgator vps customer but the EIG acquisition has ruined that company. My recommendation would be to switch to a Siteground VPS – you can see a detailed blog post we’ve written on the best VPS hosts for WooCommerce here

http://www.commercegurus.com/2015/01/19/best-woocommerce-hosting-plans-part-3-vps-providers/

With a decent host there’s no reason for your site to be slow – e.g. our demo site

http://captivatheme1.commercegurus.com/ (and this is hosted on a small unmanaged Linode VPS).

Second, WooCommerce by it’s very nature is slow. The theme is actually very fast. If you don’t believe try disabling WooCommerce and all the other plugins you have installed on your site. The real issue is plugins – and a poor VPS will not help you.

Hope this helps,

Colm”

Hi David,

I’m not sure why you copied the contents of our private email into a comment thread but I stand over everything I said within it. (although it’s definitely not cool to copy private email contents into a public forum).

In any event, additional things you can do only have marginal impact (your choice of host is the single most important factor!)

- switch off the preloader - disable the Envato toolkit - disable the wishlist plugin

In fact, disable as many plugins as you can. You can also try installing BWP Minify to minify frontend scripts.

But I will reiterate, these are not the core root of your issue. Trust me.

Colm

Colm-

Apologies….I was just bringing the email’d conversation back to the “comments” support section for followup and was providing the previous email for direction/context on my request for any additional suggestions….other support personnel answering, your 5000th email of the day, etc. I will definitely be re-discussing the hosting issue with hostgator.

Anyway, are there any plugings that are “crucial” to supporting the theme; do I just disable one and see what happens; then if okay disable the next and so on….or do you suggest an order to the process.

Also, was there an update that would help?

Thank you!

Hi David,

No worries – appreciate you trying to make our lives easier :) I don’t mind where the conversation starts – here or over email – it’s just easier to keep it one place once it starts there. Otherwise it actually is more difficult to track support requests when they jump context. In email threads we often share sensitive/secure data and it’s easy for those to get missed when being copied back into public.

Re: crucial plugins – nothing is really crucial apart from the Captiva Toolkit – everything we recommend in the install process for Captiva is enhancement upon WooCommerce.

there is no separate update – Captiva 1.5 is the definitive theme release.

Best,

Colm

Hello!

I’ve installed the theme, uploaded demo data and I’d like to use the “Home Smaller Slide” page, but I noticed that it doesn’t available yet.

The only home pages I found after upload demo data is “ecommerce”, “multipurpose”, “simple” and long”.

Could you help me?

Thanks

Hi there

If you send a mail to support@commercegurus.com we’ll get the smaller slider over to you.

Simon

Can you please supply documentation as to what has changed in the most recent update? (I purchased in Nov 2014 and I am reluctant to update unless it is a significant change because I’m afraid to mess up my existing setup)

1.5 changelog:

- WooCommerce 2.3 Compatible
- Updated to Visual Composer 4.4.2
- Updated to LayerSlider 5.3.2
- Option to switch off chosenjs on variable products
- Improvements to language files
- Some minor browser bug fixes

Hi. I would like my product/shop page to show product catagories on the left like here: http://captivatheme1.commercegurus.com/shop/. I cant get mune to show here: http://www.webcreationsa.co.za/tag/shop/

Please help

Thank you so much. Great theme!!

Hi there

You just need to drop the WooCommerce categories widget into ‘Shop Sidebar’ – that’s within Appearance > Widgets

Worth looking through the theme documentation also – it’s within the /documentation folder of the original zip – all explained there too.

Simon

Got it. Tanks so much

Hi,

Since the new theme update the quantity buttons are gone on the product page.

They have indeed. Version 2.3 has moved the plus and minus arrows into a separate plugin.

All explained here with links to the plugin: http://develop.woothemes.com/woocommerce/2015/02/v2-3-handsome-hippo/

Simon

Allright, thanks!

Hi Team,

I am having issues with a broken theme, im not sure why but it keeps happening and i have to restore to an earlier date each time, if you have an email address i can send you a screenshot.

Regards, Michael

Hi there Michael,

Sure – send me an email to support@commercegurus.com with as much detail as possible on the issue.

Best,

Colm

Hello commercegurus,

First of all, great template. It’s very good.

I encounter a minor issue that is very important to me. I have created many variable products with more then one atrribute to choose from. Not all variations are linked. For example I have a lamp in two sizes BIG and SMALL. BIG has WHITE LIGHT and YELLOW LIGHT as secondary options. SMALL only has YELLOW LIGHT as an option.

When I go to the product in the front end I choose SMALL in the first pulldown. In the second pull down I keep the YELLOW and WHITE light as an option. I even can select WHITE with SMALL and add it to the cart. When I look into the cart it added the lamp SMALL with YELLOW LIGHT. Very strange. I am sure I configured my variations the right way,

In my opinion only the linked variations should be visable in the dropdown. When I select SMALL I should one could choose YELLOW LIGHT in the second dropdown.

Also the “remove selection” isn’t working as it should be. So it looks like a problem in the pulldown configuration or something.

Can you help me with this? I am strungling with it for a while now.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards, Emiel Lagarde

Short Summary: I have configured only 3 variations, but the 2 pulldowns provide me 4 possibilities…

Hi there,

Can you send me the following:

hi there

the slider that is on the CORPORATE page is missing from the files – can you host this somewhere and send it to me? HI We have your theme up and running smoothly and its great. We have one issue that we cant solve and its seems like its something to do with your theme coding, therefore I need your help. The issue is that some items are randomly reappearing on different pages again and again causing clutter and confusion for clients. for example: Item called: Metallic 14 shows up on page 3 http://thegoldenwarehouse.com.au/shop/page/3/ but also showing on page 2 http://thegoldenwarehouse.com.au/shop/page/2/

The above is only example of one of the few products that are reappearing again and again. How do I fix this issue as the same problem occurring in each of the shop categories Thanks

Hi there,

This is a most unusual issue – we’ve not heard of this issue from any other customers using our framework on over one thousand installs.

There are a few other things you can check to see if this is theme or plugin related. If you switch to one of the default WordPress themes like TwentyTwelve does the issue persist? If so, this is something to do with your install and you’ll need to contact WooThemes directly. If it does persist please send me an email to support@commercegurus.com with your site WP admin user/pass and ftp details so I can review in more detail.

Thanks,

Colm

Hi,

Purchased your theme awhile ago and it has been great thank you! Is it possible to add an image to the center of the first footer to display security, freight and certificate logo etc.

At current it only allows you to add something through the widgets but places them in either of 4 columns.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Hi there!

Thanks for your kind words!

Well the easiest way would probably be to add images into a footer widget alright. You could combine them into one image and add it to a column.

You could also set up a child theme – we released a copy here – http://www.commercegurus.com/2014/09/26/starter-child-theme-captiva-released/

That would enable you to copy the footer.php into it and modify the code accordingly. As it’s a child theme it would be seen as a new theme by WordPress so you’d have some effort in setting up Theme Options, Widgets all over again though.

Hey Commercegurus,

Great theme first off, we’ve got it up and running and it looks fantastic. Two questions though regarding it.

1) We see a notice saying “Your theme has bundled outdated copies of WooCommerce template files” indicating we need to update the following files:

captiva/woocommerce/checkout/form-shipping.php version 2.1.2 is out of date. The core version is 2.2.0

captiva/woocommerce/loop/pagination.php version 2.2.0 is out of date. The core version is 2.2.2

We were curious if you were able to send us the revised versions of those files. We assume WooCommerce (external plugin) updated their plugins requirements.

2) We noticed a bug when browsing the site in the Chrome Browser in the responsive theme.

To simulate this bug you would use Chrome using a mobile or tablet device and rotate the screen while viewing the “Shop” page. The width of announcement will stick about half of the screens length.

We assume this is something related to chromes handling of JavaScript but we were wondering if you’d know of a solution for that browser.

Thanks again for the great theme, and we’re hopeful to hear back from you.

If you need any further details feel free to ask.

Hi there martuzzi,

Thanks for getting in touch and for the kind words :)

Re: 1. ) It sounds like you’re using an old version of Captiva. The latest release has no such notices for the latest stable release of WooCommerce (2.2.11). You can download the latest version of Captiva from your downloads area (NOTE: please make sure to backup before updating the theme!).

Re: 2.) I can’t recreate this issue in Mobile Chrome. Can you forward precise device details to support@commercegurus.com and we’ll take a look. You’ll get your full device details from here

http://supportdetails.com/

Hope this helps,

Colm

Hi again,

I’m having problems with the sidebar widgets. In the shop sidebar I have several widgets including a price filter. But suddenly the price filter is not visible anymore and I can’t get it back. Also the styling of a dropdown filter is not correct and I also have one category that is not showing up in my sidebar product categories.

And last: the widgets in the shop sidebar only appear on one page, my other pages with product categories only show the woocommerce product categories and not the other filters/widgets.

I hope you guys can help

Hi there,

Re: price filter – this is just a standard WooCommerce widget – have you contact WooCommerce support about your issue?

Re: dropdown filter – if your style doesn’t match that of our main demo site http://captivatheme1.commercegurus.com/shop then you’ll need to roll back any recent plugin installs/theme customizations you’ve made to determine what is causing the issue.

Re: last one – I assume you’re talking about different widgets appearing on your category pages vs. your single product pages? This is normal – e.g. some widgets like price filters, layered navigation only appear on category pages.

Best,

Colm

Hi,

I was wondering is it possible to show product filters such as “Filter by size”, “Filter by color” etc in the product detail page sidebar? I tried to create a custom widget area but I can’t get it to work…

Hi there

I don’t think that would be possible. On the listings screen the widget filters the results on the fly.

There are no listings to filter on a product details screen.

You could contact the plugin author but I don’t see how it would be feasible when there are no listings to actually filter.

Best

Simon

You are right. Is it possible then to show a widget in the sidebar on the product detail page and not on the category page? For example a banner?

Hi,

Yes you can do this with the Woosidebars plugin which we bundle with the theme. Just setup a custom widget area via Appearance -> Widget Areas and target WooCommerce -> Products.

This will apply on all product pages.

Colm

Hello! What a wonderful theme, thank you! I am very much enjoying my shop :) One question, I noticed today that I tried to use one of the social icons, Pinterest, that is on your theme on one of the pages, and it does not upload any picture to Pinterest, just a blank image. Pinterest gives an error even if you try to upload the blank image, that you must specify an image URL or such. How does the Pinterest button on your Social Sharing buttons list upload the image to Pinterest? Thanks for the help!

Hi there,

1.5.1 was released earlier and has the pinterest share fix in it :)

Thank you so very much! I updated my site just now and the pinterest share works perfectly!!!! yay!!! thank you so much, BEST THEME EVER!!!

Sorry… but under the Product->Category section in the admin there is no field for the “Product Category banner” as the documentation says.

Hi there

Perhaps the custom field for the banner didn’t get imported. If you pop me a mail to support@commercegurus.com I’ll send it to you.
