Hi. I bought your theme yesterday and installed it over a clean wordpress 4.1.1 installation. I have also installed your demo data but its coming out looking crappy. Infact all pages are broken and not readable. After installing the demo content, I noticed that some of the pages are duplicated, that is there are two copies of CHECKOUT, CART, MY ACCOUNT, SHOP & WISHLIST. Please help.

I must admit you guys give the best support. I wasn’t expecting a reply from you until Monday. :)

Thanks Kisstopher :)

Hi, The page banner option (Top) doesn’t show up when creating pages on Wordpress 4.1.

Hi there,

For the page banner opton to appear you need to import the demo data.

If you’ve previously done this and it no longer appears you will need to re-import just that data set.

Please email me your WP site url and WP admin user/pass and I’ll take a look.

Hi, you advise me with the translation? I changed the terms in captivalang.pot, but the site still see the original expressions. Thanks

Hi jnachtigal

There’s more to it than just that, we have a blog post which goes through the steps here :)

Hi. I am interested in buying your theme but have a few pre-purchase questions. I already have woocommerce 2.3.5 installed on my site with custom attributes, categories and a few products already loaded. If I install your theme and its sample data, will it overwrite all my custom attributes, categories and a few products that are already loaded?

Hi Kisstopher

Well it shouldn’t but I’d never recommend installing a new theme with it’s assorted plugins, data, widget areas etc on an existing site. Always set up a brand new clean instance and add back in the data, it saves a lot of grief in the long run.

Hey Once again.

The sorting option is not working on this theme for my client. I suppose it may be a JS issue can you help me with this ?

Cheers.

Hi there

It looks like you have some js errors alright, your price filter isn’t displaying correctly either. I’d start by disabling all plugins except for the CommerceGurus Toolkit and the Redux Framework and work from there. It should be fine with just those 2 – then re-enable them again one by one to try and find out which plugin is breaking it.

Dear guys ,

how to add social links at the topbar beside slogan or beside top menu , i have used the short code but it’s appear as a text not compiled to social

thanks

Hi karimterry

You’re not coming up with a ‘Purchased’ label beside your username. If you could login with an account that has bought Captiva or send a purchase code to support@commercegurus.com it’d be great.

Thanks

Simon

Hi,

Thanks for the great theme!

I have an issue: My site was slow (frontend as well as the backend), so i installed the WP cache plugin. That didn’t seem to solve the problem.

Can you please help me check out where the problem is? I tried disabling the plugins (except woocommerce), but that didn’t seem to help as well.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your fast reply! I already thought that, it’s shared hosting. I’m gonna move the site to a faster place! :)

Looking to update my Captiva Theme.

I did not get an automatic update on my wordpress theme “Captiva”. AND Envato Marketplace API is up to date. I have downloaded the theme manually and would like some help on updating. The status report showed 7 php files that have conflicts with the updated WooCommerce vs the old 1.4.1 Captiva Theme currently installed.

In the new theme download (1.5.1 – which I assume that’s what I have downloaded from my account on your website - 2/17/15 was the save date) I have located 5 out of the 7 php files with the 2.3.x version. I could not locate the following 2 php files:

captiva/woocommerce/cart/cart-shipping.php captiva/woocommerce/cart/cart-totals.php

My intention was to override the new captiva/woocommerce 2.3.x PHP files over the old files individually via FTP. Is that the best way to proceed?

Or would replacing the entire theme be the best practice? Preferably automatically without losing my settings. Which would correct the issue of the 2 missing php files in the new version?

Please advise.

captiva template status report screenshot: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4935537/captiva-templates.JPG wp environment report screenshot: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4935537/wp-environment-report.JPG

Hi there,

I don’t recommend just uploading the files – I recommend you replace the entire captiva directory. That way you don’t miss something we might have deleted in a new version of the theme. If I recall correctly we removed some WooCommerce override files in 1.5.1 which is probably why you are not finding new versions of these.

Best,

Colm

Thank you! This might be a silly question, but will replacing the entire captiva theme directory override any of my settings? Will I just need to export the current option settings in the Captiva theme dashboard?

No such thing as silly questions :)

No replacing the directory will not override your settings – settings are stored in the DB.

Best,

Colm

i send you an email about “homepage 6” template. please send us as soon possible.

I replied to your mail with the Smaller Slider homepage attached.

Hi-

we are using captiva as our wp theme and recently did an update of woo commerce with the following status report: could you give us assistance with updating the theme lines so that there isn’t overlap with the old version of woo commerce. We are also having an issue with recently losing our paypal button—-would you have any possible suggestions for this? Thank you.

: Learn how to update outdated templates

Hi there

We brought out an update for Captiva last week which will resolve this, you can use the Envato toolkit to update the theme.

Re: the paypal button, try updating the theme first. If that’s still an issue afterwards you could send a link to support@commercegurus.com

Hi Guys,

In the theme changelog of 1.5 it said: Updated to LayerSlider 5.3.2, but if I open the LayerSlide page it says 5.2.0?

No – Go to Appearance -> Install Plugins

You should see a prompt to update some plugins if you’re not using the latest versions.

Colm

Thnx Colm, now it’s all good :D

I purchased the Captiva theme the other day and on the checkout page it shows “place order” box (where you enter your credit card info) twice. How can we remove one of them?

Hi there

This double issue occurred after the release of WooCommerce 2.3. We already have an updated version of Captiva which fixes this, you can use the Envato Toolkit plugin to update the theme.

Best

Simon

Thanks!

Can’t edit pages. What is it?

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘hasClass’ of undefined

Hi there,

We’re not aware of any issues with the core theme and core plugins like Ultimate Addons.

Can you try a clean install of WordPress, Captiva and just the plugins we recommend and verify that works fine on your server. If it doesn’t then you have an issue with your host.

If it does, then proceed adding your other plugins to find out which one is causing the issue.

Best,

Colm

This is the problem that if you disable Ultimate Addons all starts. You will be updated to the latest version Addons?

Best, Max

Hi Maix,

No I meant to test things the other way around – in our dev environment there is no issue with the version of Ultimate Addons that we’re shipping – nor have we had any other reports of an issue – therefore there is something unique to your install. This is why I asked you to test a clean install with just the plugins we recommend/require with the theme as the next troubleshooting step for you.

Colm

Hi, just one pre-purchase question

When checking the demo i realized that in ‘bags’ category (for example), if a apply the color filter, results appear without image. I think it happens also with the other filters. Can you verify this?

Great theme anyway.

By the way, can shopping cart be hidden in the main menu?

Thanks!

Thanks! Seems to happen only in Firefox (i’ve tested it on Chrome and works fine). Did you try it on Firefox? On the other side, filters can be configured with ‘AND’ / ‘OR’ conditioners, right?

Best, David

Hi David

Yes, good spot. The latest version of Retina-2x plugin seemed to break the ajax image filter. I switched to using retina.js instead of Polyfill (it’s a plugin option) and it’s good now in Firefox but I’ll investigate the matter further.

http://captivatheme1.commercegurus.com/product-category/bags/?filter_color=110&query_type_color=or

Filters can have an AND / OR yes, more info available here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/yith-woocommerce-ajax-navigation/

Best

Simon

Yes, it works now. Thanks for the fast fixing Simon.

Hi folks. How do I remove the sidebar from the checkout and cart pages? Thanks.

Hi there!

On those pages just change the template dropdown to ‘WooCommerce’ :)

Simon

Hello Colm, We currently use your theme for one of our sites and am looking at using for our main site (tried a different theme but not much timely support there). I searched for few answers in forum, but couldn’t find. Please excuse my ignorance! Can you answer: 1. If we use your template with a live site, will our database be overwritten with the use of your template demo? 2. Can the home page show product categories instead of popular or feature? 3. Is theme compatible with Quotes and Orders for Woocommerce plugin? 4. Does theme work with Yoast? If not, which SEO plugin does work. I remember Your Showcase not working with Yoast was activated on my existing site. 5. Do I need to purchase Captiva for my second site? Thanks in advance, Stacy

Hi Stacy!

To answer your questions

1) No, the database won’t be overwritten. We would always advise setting up a theme from a clean install though, preferably on a development server and then migrating across when you have everything just how you like it.

2) Yes, you can use the WooCommerce shortcodes to do that. Or simply, add images manually and hard code links to the categories – that would give you more control.

3) I’m not familar with that plugin I’m afraid – we always try to ensure compatibility with official WooCommerce plugins anyway – http://www.woothemes.com/plugins/

4) Yes, everything should work perfectly with Yoast SEO

5) Yes, it’s one licence per site so a second purchase would be required.

As an aside we also have another theme, Adrenalin, which you might wish to take a look at also.

Hi! I just purchased the Captiva theme in wordpress and currently downloading all the required plug-ins. I have installed and activated all the required ones no problem so far. Except for the plug-in ’WPBakery Visual Composer’. Whenever I try to install it, it doesn’t complete. Site is just blank..Even admin page is not working.

Best Myonghui

One more questions! Where can I downlode “smaller slide home new” xml file and the slide file to import? By the way this theme is so perfect specially on mobile. You guys must have put lots of efforts. Thanks!

Hi there Myonghui

Visual Composer should have installed correctly – can you send an email to support@commercegurus.com with your site and login details and I’ll take a look.

I’ll take a look at the smaller slider page for you too.

ps, thanks for your kind words :)

HI there,

How do i disable the light box on product images. I have disabled in the woocommerce settings but it still appears.

Thanks, Charles

Hi Charles

Yes, we’ve replaced the old lightbox with magnific popup, it’s been decoupled from the settings so disabling it won’t work there.

You could technically remove it but it’ll involve a fair bit of code changing, preferably within a child theme – look for references to magnific within javascript.php and commercegurus.js. You’d need to be comfortable with code to do this.

Best

Simon

Hello, how do I update the theme? I have to install it as I did the first time?

Hi there

Ensure you do a full backup of your site before any major update – better to be safe than sorry.

We have an update guide on our blog here: http://www.commercegurus.com/2014/09/22/keep-captiva-date-envato-toolkit/

Simon

Hi @commercegurus,

1. Is it possible to add customer testimonials in my checkout page?

2. AJAX product filter in mobile device seems a bit funky, when initially 8 products shown, and then drilled down with filter to only 2 products, the page feels like shifted upward. It will be MUCH BETTER if after each filter is applied, javascript will take the scroll to the topmost product, not just sitting in the same scroll index. Can you fix it?

Hi there

You’re not coming up with a ‘purchased’ beside your name. Would you mind logging in with the account used to buy Captiva or send the purchase code to support@commercegurus.com

Thanks

Simon

Ah.. yes, I haven’t purchased Captiva theme, my question is a kind of pre-sale question :)

If both of them can be sorted of.. then just have to buy this theme

Ah, I see!

On the first – checkout uses a WooCommerce template. You could in theory change that to a regular 2 column and drop testimonials in as a sidebar widget. Some styling may be affected though – it would probably be easier to keep it as is. Testimonials might be better used to get them to buy in the first place – not distract from the payment step.

On the second – all good ideas. We use the YITH Ajax Product Filter for that so we’re kinda constrained – https://wordpress.org/plugins/yith-woocommerce-ajax-navigation/

Simon
